Why the fuck isn't anything talking about pic related? I've just finished it and I can't believe how underrated it is. The jungle temple, fire temple and the ghost house are god tier dungeons.

embarrassing

yeah game was fucking awesome, loved the level designs, some of those puzzles were a real joy to play. the artstyle is fucking amazing as is the music (amazing use of the sax). I wish more indie 2d games put more effort into their artstyle like this game did, they went well above beyond with this game.

I knew about this just because of the top tier composers, but Ive heard the game is also good.

Im just waiting for a sale to get this and Bloodstained, aint getting them for 40 bucks a piece.

Bad marketing. They did most of their PR on ResetERA.
Still a good game, but not as good as it could have been. One of the better Monster World games.

Forgot about it because they delayed the PC version.

Glad that someone else played this. Is there any hope for a sequel?

I have yet to play Bloodstained.
>top tier composers
You got that right. Here are the two tracks that stood out the most for me:
youtube.com/watch?v=HRoTHTat-V4
youtube.com/watch?v=CLuHrhOqCkU
Both sound like something out of a Ys game, no surprise since Yuzo Koshiro was one of the composers. That guy is a real music god.

>they did most of their PR on ResetERA.
Jesus, why did they think that was a good idea?
>but not as good as it could have been
Outside of the beginning of the game being mediocre and the fact that every gold armor part costs 1000 to forge, I don't see any other problems.
>One of the better Monster World games
Try "best". I've played every game in the series and no other has dungeons as good as the ones in "The Cursed Kingdom". The only reason someone would prefer the older games is because they were harder or more cryptic (and I can understand people preferring that stuff).

this.
loks like a shit shantae but without the tits.

>come into thread to post pic related
>nobody has bitched about it yet

Sshh, don't summon them

The characters doesn't look clearly to be furry pandering in the pic. You usually can tell when they are like in spyro. Also everyone hate furries.

No one hates anthro characters just for being anthro, they hate furries because furries can't contain their autism around each other and get any thread about a game with anthro characters pruned the same way lolifags get any game with kids in it pruned.

I don't give a fuck that they're furries, I just want them to keep it to themselves so I can talk about games with anthro characters again.
No one fucking cares if you wanna fuck a fat dragon, just keep it to yourself or go to /trash/ to talk about licking feet or whatever, christ.

based normietard

I started playing it, and while I really want to like it, and there's a lot to like between the gorgeous graphics and the obvious polish, the gameplay is too oldschool for today, with too-punishing enemies imo and a lot of tedious item swapping.

it came out around the time a bunch of other stuff I wnated was coming out so it got added to the backlog. I enjoyed the demo though so I will definitely pick it up... eventually

>they hate furries because furries can't contain their autism around each other and get any thread about a game with anthro characters pruned
this argument would hold more water if the people that complain about them weren't the ones to start that shit over innocent games with anthro characters half the time

I've only played Wonder Boy up to the part where you get Birdman I think.
How does this one compare to that?

>too oldschool for today
>too-punishing enemies
Seriously now? It looks like you haven't played many games in general, especially the older Monster Boy games. The biggest fault of the game is how easy and hand-holding it is (not to mention you require almost no backtracking to the old areas so it's not much of a metroidvania).

>Why the fuck isn't anything talking about pic related?
Because they didn't pay viral marketing agencies to shill it on Yea Forums like Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Greedfall, and now Blasphemous did.

One of the best metroidvanias in recent memory, with a great soundtrack.
I made a thread about this around release but no one on Yea Forums had even heard of it.

Attached: 1427201515279.png (288x277, 86K)

Not sure what it is or how it plays, but it looks like it's literally made for toddlers, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I've been here since like 2006 dude, before people hated furry just because it was furry and you were supposed to hate it, it was hated because it would derail threads.

You'd get furries flocking in and posting furry shit, and people that hated furries flocking in to tell the furries to fuck off. Basically the same shit that happened with /mlp/, except instead of just being banned sitewide like furshit the ponefags got their own board. Though, I gues furries eventually got /trash/ too but whatever.

The reason why they're hated so much is because they're fucking discussion kryptonite that can't stop jerking off together like a bunch of weird faggots. I hate furries for pretty much the same reason I hate lolifags, waifufags, footfags, whatever.
Perpetually horny retards that for some reason come to Yea Forums to tell other fat guys about the status of their boner are fucking faggots, I don't care why they got a boner, they're still a faggot for wanting to tell everyone about it as if anyone gives a fuck that his dick is hard.
>HNNNNNGH SHANTAE'S ASS IS SO HOT POST MAOR!
Who fucking cares? No one gives a fuck that you think some off model fan art is sexy you fucking retard, go to a porn board with the rest of they massive homos that want to talk to each other about jerking off while they jerk off.

Furries just happen to be more obnoxious about it than most fetishists, but it could have been anyone. If Furries kept to themselves instead of injecting their fucking gay ass fetish all over the place no one would care, but everything about the furry fandom is sexual to someone so you just can't fucking bring up anthro stuff without those retards showing up.

I really couldn't give less of a fuck that they want to fuck cartoon animals, I don't give a shit what some retard I'll never meet does with his asshole half way across the world, he can be a weird fag if he wants. Just keep that shit out of my conversations.

>I've only played Wonder Boy up to the part where you get Birdman I think.
What do you mean by this?

>shitting on the holy grail that is Hollow Knight
Welp, this was a good thread. It's going to get flooded by the HKult any time now.

What was your favorite dungeon in the game? Also any other modern metroidvanias you'd recommend? I've yet to play Environmental Station Alpha and Bloodstained, for example.

Doesn't seem like it got a lot of ads. Guess people just didn't hear about it. Which is a shame - it's pretty fun.

>but not as good as it could have been
The art style is an inconsistent mess, obvious it was a tweened flash game production values.
The animation is too western.
They should have hired better artists, like Lizardcube.
Crouching and flying is glitchy as fuck, you can get out of bounds or crushed pretty easily.
The pig sniffing move is as "good" as the microphone shit in Zelda games or DKCR.
The series call backs are cringy.
The direction with the shump segments is inconsistent with the rest of the game.
Game isn't generous enough with gold
First dungeons (and snake boss) + dragon/lich bosses better polished than the rest
Text boxes too small (even with big font)
Pepelogoo use in the story shoehorned
Awful final sequence

>Try "best"
It has the best puzzles for sure, and volume.
But it's missing some of the "soul" from earlier entries.

One of the best games I played this year.

>What do you mean by this?
What's not to get?
I haven't played since I beat Daimyo Dragon.

>The art style is an inconsistent mess, obvious it was a tweened flash game production values.
While I prefer sprites and agree that the game looks like a flash game, it still doesn't change the fact that the game has the best gameplay in the series.
>The animation is too western.
What's wrong with this? It's not even worth mentioning.
>They should have hired better artists, like Lizardcube.
See my first point.
>Crouching and flying is glitchy as fuck, you can get out of bounds or crushed pretty easily.
This never happened to me.
>The pig sniffing move is as "good" as the microphone shit in Zelda games or DKCR.
Absolutely agree. It's a really useless move, but it's the only useful thing the pig transformation has since the spells aren't useful combat-wise (the whole pig transformation becomes useless relatively quickly).
>The series call backs are cringy.
I can't believe you actually think this. It wasn't MGS4-tier cringe, the callbacks were excellent.
>The direction with the shump segments is inconsistent with the rest of the game.
There's only one shmup segment (after the boss of the jungle temple) and it doesn't break up the game. It's nice to have a lot of variety gameplay-wise, there's also certain other unique little sections like the homage with the ocarina.
>Game isn't generous enough with gold
This is only a problem when it comes to forging the gold armor parts since each part costs 1000 gold.
>First dungeons (and snake boss) + dragon/lich bosses better polished than the rest
I agree that the later bosses were underwhelming, but the snake boss was absolute shit.
>Text boxes too small (even with big font)
This isn't that big of a deal, plus I didn't find it hard to read.
>Pepelogoo use in the story shoehorned
I agree with this, but I can let it pass since the gameplay segments with Pepelegoo were great (the ghost house one especially).
>Awful final sequence
I agree that the ending is abrupt as fuck.

Is there a way to beat him in a way that doesn't involve slowly whittling his HP down 100 times? Nothing else in the game before or after that comes close.

You should have been more specific when it comes to the game you played.
The Cursed Kingdom holds your hand more in a sense that you can basically never get lost, but most of the dungeons are bigger, more complex and have better puzzles.

>But it's missing some of the "soul" from earlier entries.
That's because of the flash game art style which doesn't do it favors.

It got sandwiched between Bloodstained and Silksong, so not much hope for it to shine.

This game is the opposite of Furrybait. All of the animal characters are clothed besides the snake.

That was the PC port, the game actually came out last year

This is not Hollow Knight, user.

And aniway, it's all a curse, no ones in is really an animal person, despite all being a nod to Wonder Boy in Monster Land where all the shopkeepers and helpers are talking animals.

>See anons discuss the animation
>"Flash game art style"
I fucking loathe and despise you people and wish you nothing but ill-will for the rest of eternity. You fuckers have no fucking clue what you're talking about and should shut your mouth.

Attached: images.jpg (170x297, 8K)

I started playing recently and just got to the sky town
The lion form is so nice to use plus he looks cute in it

It's too easy and has unimpressive animation.

care to elaborate?

No, I don't care to elaborate. You may dislike the art, it may not be your taste and that's perfectly fine. But labeling it like that gives you a reservation in hell. Go fuck yourself.

you sound autistic

I'm waiting for a price drop or a good price on a 2nd hand copy.

>You should have been more specific when it comes to the game you played.
Sorry, I didn't realize there were more than the two let alone ones that would have multiple forms that included a bird man.

>comfy thread about monster boy
>nobody talking about furries
>furfag comes in to whine and screech about fursecution anyways
Unironically kys

>best gameplay in the series
Can't really argue with that, it's a welcome change from starting the game with ultragravity boots and shit defense. I hope they improve it even more in other entries.
>animation
Lots of deviant art tier quirks that are annoying the more there are of them. The idle animations. Everything about the human form. The weird over-animated human mouths on Pepe and most animals.
>glitched collision detection
Try the mansion room with the rolling ball and three tables (fuck that room in particular, and how it relies on shitty physics to progress), and the room just before Pepe learns how to eat ghosts. The final area is very glitchy as well. The reason why it's annoying is because how these become immediately apparent when using the flying dragon form.
>shump bad
I actually wanted more of that. It's understandable why there would be one there as it's originally Flying Hamster 2, and the first is a shump; besides WB3 Arcade being an actual shump. The game could use some more of those to connect more locations, and have them replayable.
>gold
I was actually moderately grinding for gold and still had trouble finding enough to complete equipment sets (the gems/charmstones for upgrading them is a stroke of genius, gives a perfect excuse to complete optional challenges).
I think the gold distribution is alright early game, but doesn't quite catch up later.

>other things
Game lacks a sense of space in relation to the greater overworld. In MW3, you'd fall from the volcano cliffs back to the desert, but the way MB does it, it's an instadeath pit... not to mention how the world loops around. The Wario Land VB overlapping planes mechanic is underused.
King has extra lines only seen redoing the dungeon.

Basically there's some beta content that didn't make it too that i'm salty about, like the myconid and other staple enemies of the series. The "booze" concept was a last minute change but still ties with the cork well and Nabu's fight.

You idiots complaining about furries running everything for making it about them are literally ruining this thread by making the discussion about furrys

Attached: 1568649252258.jpg (900x900, 146K)

>The Wario Land VB overlapping planes mechanic
What's this? I played VB Wario Land, but I'm not sure what you're referring to. Perhaps the areas that are in the background? The kind of stuff that also appears in DKC Returns? I think that's called a 2.5D area, but I'm not sure.

(continued)
Point is I loved it enough to gun for 100% completion (97%) but there was a time I just said fuck it and used cheat engine for a one time extra 8000 gold (the designated gold farming point in the game -the volcano drop- only yields 250G at best)

Not to say it's bad, but the game isn't fully realized to its full potential and has some jank that would have been discarded in a QA test. I hope for a sequel that addresses these problems.

Fools.

There's no such thing as an animal character who's not a furrybait. Once an animal character, always and instantly a furrybait. No animal character in this world is an exception of this.

>Perhaps the areas that are in the background?
Exactly, whatever they're called.
2.5D makes it sound like NSMB or Klonoa.

>thread about video game with anthropomorphic animals
>cool game, let's talk about it
>HA ITS WEIRD NO ICKY FUR HATERS HAVE COME TO COMPLAIN ABOUT US YET OWO UWU YIFFITY WIFFITY
>stfu furfag, everyone hates you and nobody cares. Back to video games
>WOAH YOU PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT FURRIES ARE JUST AS BAD AS FURRIES WTF

No physical release over here. I might take a look if there's a sale

I'm surprised people had trouble with gold. I had more than enough by the end of the game to buy and upgrade everything.
TOO BAD I CANT GET THE FINAL 1% EHERE THE FUCK IS THE LAST SWITCH IN THE VILLAGE HUB THAT TURNS ON THE LAMPS! I SWEAR I CAN'T FIND THE LAST FUCKING ONE!

Attached: 913.jpg (737x556, 109K)

It makes more sense for the "areas in the background" concept to be called "2.5D" rather than have the term "2.5D" apply to normal 2D platformers that have graphics that "pop out" and look 3D (like NSMB, for example).

Same, about to throw it on my wishlist and wait for a sale on it.
If it can make me want to play it half as much as this user then it'd be worth.

>people also said the dragon's trap remake looked like bad flash art
video games really do rot the mind

That was straightforward enough. You said "last switch" but there's at least 3 hidden behind roof/building decorations which you found by now. I looked up a guide for the part right after it hitting the frog thing from the right/left, but can't quite understand its logic.

They say that anything about digital art. Streets of Rage 4 is getting the same complaints and I even saw it fly around for fucking Skullgirls.

Tweening. That's the word you're looking for.

You know how animators draw storyboards then key frames.
They still need to do in-between frames, lest it looks like this: youtube.com/watch?v=1wAVpcvIrQM
Traditional animation used to have people draw those frames.
Tweening in modern animation is when they have them computer generated.
Most commonly seen with CaliArts western animation.

this shit is too smooth, it must be all tweening. god animators are all so lazy these days and rely on flash for everything. rip richard williams

Attached: 1446794029393.webm (854x480, 1.93M)

Monster Boy and Wonder Boy remake didn't have tween animation though.

I'm fully aware of what tweening is. dragon's trap wasn't tweened. youtube.com/watch?v=hlkhZMl6S40

Played through it recently and really loved it. The only other Wonder Boy I've played is Dragon's Trap. I still enjoy both but Dragon's Trap definitely feels like an arcade style romp while this feels more like a full fledged game. I did think it could have been a bit longer though, especially some of the final sections. Some mini dungeons while collecting the artifacts and maybe longer final areas.

Fuck I forgot about that video.

it makes me laugh every time I see it
