Fatal Frame is the closest. I think Dead Space is excellent in terms of atmosphere, but eventually the scares stop meaning anything. Please understand, I really like Dead Space and I think it's one of the best horror games ever made, but once you know what to expect, it falls flat in terms of actual scares. Maybe I misworded it. It's perfectly fine horror, but the game isn't good BECAUSE of its application of horror.

Fair enough. I still consider it a horror game, even if it doesn't deliver most of the time, though.
