You usually shouldn't do it, but there are some situational cases where it can be fun. Popular strategy for Ran's route is to let the Tenshi sect capture Kyo and then vassal them. Once you do that, no one west of Kyo can attack you, which is fine because you have no reason to go in that direction in Ran's route

I'd argue its the other way around, warriors are one of the few units that can actually deal significant damage to footsoldiers without relying on unique character skills.

Warriors are generally hit by troop scaling the worst IIRC, that's why footsoldiers counter them. Warriors do scratch damage against most units with a higher troop count

Each turn you have "action fans" the yellow things in the top left. Most things you do (declaring war, attacking a province, etc) take a fan.

Commanders you use to attack cannot be used to defend that same turn.

During battles there's a turn order at the top. Each commander has action flags which dictate how many times maximum they can attack that battle. Some moves cost more (or even all) of your flags. This sounds bad, but there's also a turn limit on every battle (the bars in the bottom middle that are vanishing each action.)

Battles end when either one side is eliminated, or all turns have been expended. In the latter case, the morale bar at the top dictates who wins.

it's commonly accepted that you first playthrough will take you a some time, and that you'll make mistakes. The game has multiple story routes, so don't worry about getting everything "right" or being "optimal" the first time. There's a lot of replayability so try shit out, experiment, watch the scenes you want to, and have fun.

Hover over enemies and allies to see what you can do in battle. Explore and play around. Learn what it is like to discover a game on your own again.

Making all his troops elites is better taken after you're raised his stats a bit first, but it's also essential.
Curing Shibata's injuru is good, but not necessary at all.
Everything else on your list is kinda meh.

rance attack. get the elite troops after gotten all stats too 6 with rance. get reinforcements and more flags when they pop up.

He means reinforcements from the continent, it gives you new female officers. You'll know it's available after seeing the scene where Rance mentions calling for reinforcements to 3G. You want to do that one as much as possible, especially since it's how you get best girl. The only thing with priority over that is the new action fan you can get later.

Would recommend to use "make troops elite" only when all rance stats are 7. It takes some work but its very worth while...

Later on you'll be able to ask for foreign reinforcements from Zeth and Leazus, countries that Rance has saved in the past. Both with send three units, so if you want all reinforcements, you'll have to use six satisfaction bonuses on that.
The troops are pretty good, with Leazus having physical units, and Zeth having magic oriented ones.

One of the sat bonuses is to "call reinforcements from ___"

Lots of people think those options are good because you can get some decent commanders from them.

Your first playthrough is always different from the rest, with some events added and subtracted from the game to guide you along (even if you go back into the true route, you can't access those events again). Nobody ever sees the scene where Takeda conquers Uesugi because why would you ever NOT go for Kenshin (plus you have to go through Tokugawa to get to Houjou, whereas you just need to kick over the sandcastle that is Asai-Asakura to get to Uesugi), but it's pretty depressing. If I remember right, they kill Kenshin in an ambush before she can fight back and the Takeda commanders are disappointed in themselves because it's not the glorious death in combat such a great warrior deserved.

Surprisingly, there's an overhaul mod for the fan translation that changes it into a Kichikuou Rance style game with the whole world there. Doubt it works in the official release, though.
