Elite Knight is the most aesthetic armor set in gaming. Fluted is really great, though.
Elite Knight probably looks almost identical to fluted underneath the material. It'd need to be slimeer than the regular knight set since it's the same thickness after multiple layers of clothing.
This.
>side sword
>two daggers
>tons of belts
>decorative chains
>skirt and cape
>side pouch
Fluted is perfect. Maiden in black is best girl.
Fluted has more soul.
Look at this comfy son-of-a-gun.
The balance of metal with cloth. The colors. The strangely stern and ticked-off expression of the closed Elite Knight helmet that exemplifies the spirit of an adventurer who is just sick of this shit.
There is nothing more aesthetic than the Elite Knight. He is the quintissential vidya design.
I liked this armor.
they're both overdesigned
Whore
Faraam
drakeblood is my favorite standard knight set I think, in both 2 and 3
creighton's is close though
Did people really wear jackets over their armor?
Here's the cooler DS2 armor.
>promo art
Elite
>in game
Fluted
>Discount maiden in black
Shit taste.
FPBP
Fluted is great for the more medieval style of Demon's Souls but the Elite Knight set exemplifies that perfect balance of realism and fantasy that the first Dark Souls nails so well
Stop using aesthetic as an adjective zoomer
I think the knight set for dark souls 3 really says everything about the game. Bland, unimaginative, a rehash of things gone by, low effort recycling of old ideas (fluted knight set). I will say it does look nice though at least.
There's no way it has a chestplate underneath there.
not even close
For me, it's the gloom set
Is there any plate under the tunic or is it just mail? what would be the real world advantage of just mail like that as opposed to plate?
For me, it's the witch bewitcher
absolutely alvapilled
Mail is surprisngly effective. Vidja will make you think it's mediocre, but that shit puts in work IRL.
>Is there any plate under the tunic or is it just mail?
If you compare it to the normal knight armor the latter is far bulkier around the chest so the elite knight doesn't have a chestplate.
It's supposed to be the regular knight set with a tabard
I'd assume mobility, especially considering the fact that the Chosen Undead has more rolls going around than a Thanksgiving dinner
>Elite Knight is the most aesthetic armor set in gaming
Wrong
hahahahaha this fork looking motherfucker what are you gonna do, poke a steak? go put yourself back into the drawer with the other cutlery hahahaha
He and his wife deserved better
I want the Chosen Undead in Smash.
>Up B can be a firebomb chuck with similar gravity and usefulness as Yoshi's egg toss Up B
>Side B can be Soul Arrow or Fireball
>Down B can be a parry / deflect that puts enemies into a crumple state, similar to Ryu's Focus
>Neutral B allows you to sip Estus, restoring 20%, but only five times per stock
>make him heavy and crunchy with the shittest dodge in the game
Do it, Bamco. You already own the rights to Souls and you're developing Smash. Do it now.
>accidentally clip your head on the ceiling
>deafen yourself and alert every creature in a 10 mile radius
You're literally just a walking tuning fork
Look at both of them from the side in game. The chest plate is way too large.
jingle jangle jingle
>all this alva
absolutely based
I want you to kill yourself. Do it now.
go take a shower
it's why I say it looks like fluted. the fluted chestplate would fit
what a lazy uninspired moveset
the nose the the flute armor is peak soul
The answer is always Fluted.
Who /heide/ here?
I don't even consider Smash a fighting game. I just like to play it with my family. Chosen Undead would be fun, and he deserves a spot.
I take two showers daily.
This but Solaire
basic heide or plume heide?
There's not much you can really do with the Chosen Undead without leaning too far into one "build".
I prefer the normal knight set.
>Start with fluted armor.
>Never take it off ever.
>Only use longswords and bastard swords.
Patrician.
>pissypants armour
lmfao
Fluted looks amazing in-game, but that's about it.
Elite Knight's chest is chainmail with a brigandine on top of it.
Mail is weak to piercing AND blunt. Plate is immune to slashing, almost immune to piercing and resistant to blunt. People in plate armor didn't need to carry shields. They carried a longsword. People in mail needed to use a shield and a one handed weapon. As you can see, the guy in plat armor has a more powerful attack for the same level of defence.
Caped armours is the true kino
Post more kniggers
those vertical bars on the fluted set's legs are a great idea, is there a name for them? more sets should use them, great for preventing slashes with minimal weight increase.
It might have a metal curirass or breastplate under there. You do not know.
Crusader heide
They're called strips of metal.
Studded leather armor is meme it really doesn't do anything
Elden Ring's armor is pretty aesthetic so far. The guy with the halberd has this helmet with fins on it. It almost looks fish-like. The big dude looks like Gaiseric crossed with Smough.
Really underrated armor set
Fluted for the Berserk experience
Elite for a virtuous Paladin experience
Brushwood/Brass for true patrician
Bruh, you can literally see it
There'd be more of a curve to the tabard if there was. It also has the chain mail sound set in DaS 2 and 3.
I doubt you could even imagine it.
The EK set is just the knight set with extra plate on the legs, the helmet down, and a tabard
That ain't a brigandine. It's just metal plates riveted to the mail.
Vengarl's for the cozy experience
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That's just a long mail vest. Look at the neck. There could still be some plating under the cloth.
None.
If you have access to plate you should use plate. It's what people did historically.
The Alva set will always be my favorite
Benhart's is more cozy than Vengarl
EK.
You'd still be able to see the roundness of the breastplate if it had one. Elite knight armor is simply way too slim to be anything other than chainmail with a surcoat over it.
This one is my favorite.
I do too, but Smash posting should be kept to Smash threads
Creighton's set looks better with his hair
Any love for hats? I never took this one off since i got it. Chester's is god tier too
i like the texture on that shoulder cape thingie, the shine off it
I'm not forcing it or anything. I'm just saying that it'd be pretty cool.
Smash threads and posters suck ass, but the game itself is pretty fun. I won't talk about it now, though.
That's not a thing
Yes it is, I was just pointing what it is
>Look at the neck
That's part of the coif though
*spears you on his horns*
>Alva
>Faraam
>Drake Blood
>Heide
>Royal Swordsman
>that pommy prick that ates pate
Did I miss anything? The armor selection for that game was great.
I was pretty dissapointed when i got Ornstein's set, thought the helmet had a plume but instead it was his fabulous red mane
It still managed to put in work considering it was favored over plate for most of history.
Elite Knight looks more like an adventurer with all the other shit he's carrying, while Fluted is definitely just a knight who just makes his lackey and horse carry his shit cause he's far too noble to lug things around like a peasant.
>implying Bloodborne isn't the most aesthetic FromSoft game
Shhhhhhh!
Best boy (who wears best armor) is sleeping
Bloodborne has some aesthetic shit, but we're talking about armor here.
We can get into just general Souls clothing, though.
Archdrake and Drangleic sets are also really good.
Chubby ass nigger with a porkbun head
I'm a fan of the black hand hat
>dude there's totally a plate underneath there
Aye, siwmae, bitches
Tis' an onion.
The Elite Knight set is way too good, it was such an amazing design.
I like the way you hold out your arms while wearing it in 2.
For me, it's the Mirrah set
A man who never eats porkbun is never a whole man.
For me? It's the Bronze set the Datkmoon Lady wears
Left for the parade
Right for the battlefield
>Distinctively shaped armour worn by the Knights of Catarina. Outside of Caterina, it is often ridiculed for their onion-like shape, infuriating the proud knights, but the masterfully forged curved design makes it very effective for parrying
>very effective for parrying
What the fuck did they mean by this?
I think it means that attacks just roll off due to the curve of the armor
Right is for ppl who battle beast and left for medieval trannys caring about fashion instead of survival
For me it's Vilhelm's set.
Good day!
I heard you were looking for some aesthetic armor.
I happen to have found some fine armor, right down that hole.
I found it first, but…well, we're friends now. I'll split it with you!
In any case, have a look, it'll shimmer you blind!
There, that hole. Take a closer look.
Wolf Knight
>hit onion armor really hard
>weapon bounces off
>wide open for riposte
If the armor was polished steel and the cape was red or something, it'd be literally 10/10
It's too dark for me. Wish it was more 'triumphant'
Fluted, easily
Something about the firelink set.
Although I think i'm just a sucker for the glowing ember stuff.
Thats right kill all the fashionable souls trannys
The helmet is too small, otherwise it would have been perfect
>chicken legs
Based
Well, it did give us the Cainhurst set
For me it's this guy's set.
Secondaries
Looks like Yuria.
I like it too
based
Please kill yourself you pleb.
There has never been a better reason to kill an npc.
Why is taking historical armor designs and adding stylized elements to them so aesthetically pleasing?
Oh hi Butters hows the taste of dick treating ya
I want to part those cheeks
>i equip the skull lantern purely for aesthetic purposes
because your a weeb
Fluted is more aesthetic than EK
EK is overdesigned and noisy and flashy.
Fluted is clean, simple, and perfect. It's armor, it looks good, it doesn't need to be anything else or try to be more than it is.
>generic Euro mishmash Maximillian armor is the most aesthetic
Ordinator armor is the best
Warhammer 40k CONFIRMED Japanese garbage
Every elder scrolls armor ranges from fugly to passable
I bet you think you're so different and unique, user.
Skeletons are the most aesthetic fantasy race. Throw a nice armor set on them, and you've reached peak fantasy.
But all races have skeletons, user.
>Skeletons
boring
used to hate the color, now it's grown on me
fuck I meant fantasy, not 40k
You might like soulcalibur.
>having a two handed sword and dagger sheathed on your character for aesthetics
I always ran a bandit knife with a bastard sword on the back because it looked good in the cutscenes. No scabbards of any kind in the second game will always be a pet peeve.
Why not skeleton armor?
Darkwraiths may be pretend skeletons but they're my favorite skeleton knight design.
the hands wrapping around is so fucking gimmicky
i LOVE it
Nyaaaah
How can I become this fucking cool in death? What sort of laws are there against skeletonizing a consenting adult and shoving them into bitching armor for all eternity?
Late medieval knights are always aesthetic as fuck
Imagine being so horny and lonely you make armor of your waifu hugging you and go around killing women in it
He has one of those brigandines/coat of plates invented by LARPers, which looks absolutely disgusting in my opinion.
why not skeletons in skeleton armor?
Yeah it could look really trippy in a real fight depending on the angle.
Hmmm
That sword was fuckin dope tho.
You might like this
Nito did it
>skeletons in skeleton armor wielding skeleton weapons
Where can we go from this?
Skeleton lords might be really easy but the aesthetic, atmosphere and music make me really enjoy the fight
The skeletons Nito is made of are also wearing skeleton armor and weilding skeletal weapons. You just can't see it because they're inside of him
The world is being carried atop of a giant skeletons skull throughout the universe
Throne watcher and defender are some of the best looking sets in the game, Insolent set, kings set, llewellyn Set, loyce lucatile raime syan, ds2 has the best fashion out of all the souls games hands down
The Skeleton Lords OST is underrated
>a skeletal warrior made by a skeletal Lich who wears armors made of skeletons and has spells that summon skeletons and is empowered by absorbing more skeletons
>game is set on the corpses of giant entities
>they ressurect later in the game
Name 1 game that does this other than Xenoblade 1
Oh hey, that's my fluted armor screenshot. It's a pleasant surprise to see people using it. Love that set.
>tfw video games spur a long period of armor research autism
>tfw visited the New York Met armor collection
>tfw you realize that most historical armor was really weirdly tailored and almost always made for 5'4 manlets for some reason
>tfw you quickly learn that most of your favorite armor design elements are from hundreds of years apart and would never have coexisted
I'm a 14th century missile, though. Houndskull bascinets + early plate development is aesthetic.
it was about time female chars get something that looked nice on them
Yep.
Vengarl’s set
For me, it’s him
>implying Sieglinde isn't the cutest female
>she will never make snake like movements on your dick
Feelsbad
No plate, there's no visible chestplate. You can see the armored bits underneath the fabric, EK has an armored surcoat.
This
The best kind of armor is plate under some kind of cloth
It’s why I like that one overused armor set from 3 so much
>wanting the pope's sloppy seconds
The pope is a bird tree, neither of which are known for having dicks
He has magic and 99 Int, user. He'd find a way.
The armor collapses in on itself when stood up. Medieval people were taller than 5'4.
the herald set looks really nice on female chars
Pontiff Sulyvahn doesn't have sex, he only gets off on bringing the world to complete ruin
>best armor in the game is hidden
>best armor is replaced with retarded shit no one uses
its not fair bros.
He clearly didn’t or he wouldn’t have disposed of her
Dark Silver
Why couldn't we save her, bros?
It looks pretty silly. Especially the neck area.
ALL PART OF THE PLAN
Cursed image.
Getting smacked around and kissed to death by the desert thots made me hard as fuck. Coming back to parry and whip them made me diamonds
pontiff is gay, which is why all of his knights dress in women's armor and he sent his only female knight to lothric
too bad it looks like plastic in game. Seriously, how did they never fix that?
>expect there to be Sulyvahn and Dancer mindbreak fan art
>nothing but Sulyvahn and Aldrich being gay
I was extremely disappointed
fucking nudists
he's also a furry, which is even worse
>what better way to make friends, with none other than the friendly spoopy bone man armor.
>See you in the burgs, newb friends
There's this. It isn't mindbreak, but it's something
Humans do have a sense of style and this was reflected even in the medieval periods with armor designs; typically they were ugly as sin if intended to be pure armor, but if the intent was to make a statement as to the owner's wealth, power, family name or simply the armor's protective ability, it tended to have embellishments
Additionally humans just like good craftsmanship, especially if it's for an object with a very clear purpose like protective armor or a weapon. /fa/ armor implies an extremely high level of craftsmanship, especially if proven to be both functional and decorative, and serves to make the wearer stand out from the crowd. Same thing as flashy clothes, really
I fucking hated the no scabbards bit, even moreso when I picked up a blacksteel katana and I got all excited thinking it'd have one since it's modeled onto the enemies and the captains use iaijutsu. Nope, I just hold the sword at my side for what's supposed to be an iai slash.
Modern hominids haven't changed for quite some time, most or all of those armors were ceremonial. Being forged at a smaller scale was a testament to the smith's skill, they were made to be displayed and still are.
I'm Muslim tho
>will never be a hole maan
You have my condolences pham
The Fluted Knight set. It gets immediately to the point but with just enough little curves, accents, and flourishes that quickly add up to look unique and strike a silhouette. The various shades also work cohesively while clearly standing out at the same time, and the material for the leggings particularly helps the suit's visual pop.
The Elite Knight set certainly looks nice, but the details get kind of muddled in the center of the design, and I've always thought the helmet didn't have the best composition to it. It also leaves one to wonder just how much armor is actually under the clothing and if wearing so much over heavy plate or chain mail is sensible.
To be honest, comparing art to a 3D model doesn't make for a fair assessment of the two designs.
Can we get a PC mod giving Patches an Adidas suit?
don't even know who this is
tfw no hollowed gf
life is suffering bros
>ywn rub up against her leathery, chafing nethers
Faraam is boss. Shame it looks like trash in-game and you don't get it till you're in the final area. EK you can get right away if you get the thief key and kill/run past Havel
Right is far more aesthetic. You can actually see what's going on and it nicely highlights the curves and forms of the body underneath with those parallel lines.
It's a shame that only females get the fur collar
I only wear the legs. Fuck the edgy rest, especially the helmet.
Don't mind me, I'm just dumping my favorites.
He did his best, user. Sometimes your best gets you a smoking hot witch waifu.
Is she ever actually described or is this more of an assumption?
I rocked the Royal Swordsman helm with the Alva set during my first playthrough. I fucking love sallets, why are they so aesthetic but underused?
More of an assumption based on concept art, her apparel on female characters, and being known as the seductress. I don't believe either of them are ever described physically
the black witch veil is such a great piece
Alva and Zullie have fantastic sets in general
So he literally got squirted out of Yarnham and into Lordran by some Old One right? Has this ever been confirmed?
Clownsuits WW@?
Looking at all these armor sets makes me want to play ds2 again.
Why does Dark Souls consistently have the best armor designs? No other series can even come close.
funny enough they added the plum to the DS3 ornstein helmet after an update
Why is the hounskull helmet never featured in any games, it was one of the most prominent helmet designs in real life.
Behold my resplendence, peasants
Because it makes you look like you have down syndrome and taking a hit to the head would be a favor
It's like armor that was specifically made for "that guy"
Man, some areas in Dark Souls 2 really just fuck the lighting/shading.
Elite Knight is more visually appealing but shame DaS doesn't have cloth physics.
Its a tragedy that knight Syan was a brainlet jobber tho.
>Not wanting to be a medieval european samurai
steel is a sleeker brushwood set.
Biorr is a neat guy.
2B looks awfully comfy in that.
yes he is.
Brushwood was the shit. My very first playthrough of Demon's Souls was full Brushwood with DBS and the big tower shield because I was a shitter, but man did I feel like a tank.
Even as a male hunter the doll's top still looks pretty fucking good
Bonfire is best grill, get fucked Demonsfags
Fun fact: Leftover text in the game indicates the character that eventually became Vilhelm was originally going to be a woman that dual wielded a straight sword and a flamberge.
This one
>um, did you just assume my choice of protective wear?!
Miyazaki said in an interview that the design for Lautrec's armor preceded Lautrec as a character. A big part of creating Lautrec was coming up for why his armor had that embrace built into it.
>no sallet in ds3
Literally a crime.
Sekiro had some fantastic designs.
How about just the regular knight set?
So what's their world like in the periods before going to complete shit?
It's a great blend of fantasy and realism and usually describes why an armor looks the way it does with a stated purpose or function in its item-description
The Penetrator's armor is pretty cool. Why does No one ever talk about it? Oh I know, because WE NEVER FUCKING GOT IT AS AN ARMOR SET. FUCK YOU MYAZAKI WE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE COOL SWING EFFECTS FOR THE SWORD
Always loved the Alonne-related sets, they're a perfect blend of knight and samurai aesthetics while still being firmly in the "knight" category, leading up to Sir Alonne himself straight-up having samurai armor.
The sword is really underwhelming too, despite how /fa/ it looks. Theres literally no reason not to use anything besides the standard longsword or the moonlight greatsword for the entire game.
the og clownsuit
Seems like it's a decent enough fantasy world, aside from warlike kingdoms like Carthus popping up.
I love this set so much. It's got a great balance of being a skeleton while still being armor.
it looks like a regular gambeson tho
>Theres literally no reason not to use anything besides the standard longsword or the moonlight greatsword for the entire game.
But using the Dragon Bone Smasher or the Great Sword is so fun. You can bat people across the room over and over.
Because it's classy and kinda reserved.
what does this reference
I actually liked what they did with Longsword weapon arts, I honestly think that every single weapon shouldve had a "stance" mode with different effects, the stance for Longsword was breaking guard and giving hyper armour, because it had these things it made other weapons that didnt have them feel worse. It also just looked cool to hold your weapon differently on command.
Id like to see a game based around different stances for every weapon.
For a laugh sure but speaking strictly in terms of effectiveness a fast weapon will always be better in a world with no poise where every hit regardless of the weapon stuns on contact. MGS has the added benefit of going through guards and its easy to get a hold of.
At the time they probably designed the armors solely for the boss' scale and proportions. Making a player version that wouldn't be off-balance or clip through itself might have been tricky. As for the sword, I swear the one he uses has dramatically different proportions, even relative to scale. It's a shame that the riposte and backstab didn't have the same modifier as the 1hR2; it's too limiting to make only a single attack from both move sets have the modifier.
Here's your fluted knight set.
It makes your head look like the glans of a penis desu
yeah that made me sad. Also I think it's funny that his sword gives a damage bonus on the stab attack.
Why not both?
What in the world is this?
Lucatiel was best DS2 grill
>Tfw updates never.
Funny? That was its gimmick. It needed to apply that gimmick to all of its stab attacks. Maybe if the blade was longer it'd be good for zoning and crowd control, but ultimately it doesn't seem to be long enough to provide significant advantages in that regard -- or at least not any to make me want to use the blade for long.
Rekindled NEVER EVER.
Oh, from this.
danebrennand.artstation.com
Doll top with pants makes it look like a poncho. Perfect for bloodtinge pistol/Evelyn runs.
So how do you unpack and repack partsbnd.dcx files?
heide knights were so cool looking
felt bad anytime i killed one
but i wanted the set so
Nixing the obligatory iai-specific katana in favor of just giving all katanas an iai stance for a weapon-art gave me fucking wood, especially Frayed Blade getting some Vergil shit on top of it.
The skeleton weapons are skeletons also holding skeleton weapons.
the only surviving armors are for children.
fluted could use more symmetry and some image filters to give it a similar effect that the elite knight set has, butt I'd otherwise looks elegantly practical
Why was his armour like that?
>Heide
I never god that meme. It's just a fugly entirely white armor.
truly /ourguy/
And kings that had tons of armour made for them as tribute. People were shorter back then, not taller.
>Have to use unique weapons to get different arts
>Can't just customize the weapon arts for basic weapons at the blacksmith
The system could've been way better
It represents his goddess keeping him in her loving embrace no matter where he goes.
Maybe in OOOOOOOO ELDEN RIIIIIING
what a gay
>'unique'/boss weapons were always upgraded the same so there was nothing differentiating it if two different people used them
Why does BLACK IRON TARKUS get no love?
I really hope I can make a mutant monstrosity in that game.
I dunno about sets but the Milwood helm is criminaly underrated
Keep your weeb nintensoy hands off of this franchise
Dark Souls is too pure to be in your shitty made for children and manchildren
>Remove uniqueness
>This is way better
You are the reason for the word "streamlined". Now everyone runs around with the best sword and the best weapon art.
I just want to say how much I love these minimalistic and realistic armor designs and how I wish they were used more in games. I swear to god if I see another fucking shiny light/fire/elemental set of armor with overdone particle effects and ridiculous lightning I will fucking snap. I don't think I hate anything in gaming more than I hate shinymagicshoulderpadsforretards.
That's the best part of it
My favorite set. I used that throughout most of my first playthrough of DS1.
That's not what I said, but I guess I'll argue with it anyway
If there is a single dominant build standing over the rest of the game, then you've made a bad game, period
His armor looks good on him, but has fucked up proportions unless worn by a player character with extremely specific sliders
Much like the fucking artorias set
Yeah exactly, that's what you said you wanted
Being able to customize your weapon's art would just have everyone put the same OP art on every weapon in the game
Fluted is more fitting for the oppressive setting of Demon's Souls. You're supposed to look and feel like a fool who is in over his head. That the whole world is stronger than you.
Posting best armor
Never said every weapon, or art
In fact I'm pretty sure I specified basics
And the fact remains that you're arguing against character customization
Part 2 soon, r-right?
aesthetic isn't a noun with positive connection, only the adjective has that. The noun has no connotation, it is a synonym for a style, which could be stylish or unstylish depending on context. for instance:
>this armor has a poor aesthetic
If you want to use it positively, you have to use it as an adjective.
>which set is more aesthetically pleasing?
or
>which armor has more aesthetic beauty?
I hate this meme fight me
Based Havelbro
>brass
my man, it's perfect for a royal swordsman type rapier/bucker build
This post is very inaesthetical
Boletariaaaaaaaaa
it's not realistic in the slightest, but i've always had a soft spot for ice/snow or general winter type armors
A professional 3D modeler that joined up with a mod making community and is making a bunch of armor and weapon models for a massive Dark Souls mod project. The project is mostly stalled on the fact that generating custom navmeshes isn't doable at the moment, so they could sort of make new maps, but NPCs wouldn't understand how to navigate them.
Words pick up connotations, user.
