Linux gaming thread

Linux is the future, not just for playing video games but for everything.

is valve still backing linux or did they just abandon it?

when linux OSs get the same support as if it were windows, then ill use it daily. But for now, user, ill use winshit.

proton development is still very active, it's becoming rarer and rarer that I actually need to boot windows to play windows games

Linux is already the OS of everything. From smartphones, to point-of-sale systems, to military tech. Desktop is the only platform it hasn't taken over, and even that has started to change dramatically in the last few years.

Phones and some other things yeah, but generally it's not linux but rather FreeBSD.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.

>tfw even the Vita/PS3/PS4 are running a renamed FreeBSD

The main menu of the Cube World beta launches just fine on Proton. I hope it'll stay that way once the actual beta drops. Proton is some amazing stuff.
