PS3 would be impossible to run on the ps4 being how it was built. Sony clarified they thought about this long and hard at the beginning on this generation if switching to a more friendlier architecture was the right move. So if you're crying about your ps3 backwards compatibility blame devs that bitched to sony about their architecture. As of right now it isn't confirmed on ps5 to be BC with older gens, but ps4 and on will be BC with each other for sure and thats been confirmed.

Why not give out remasters to people who already own the game? For example, someone has skyrim on ps3 they can download skyrim ps4 version and it only works when the ps3 disc is inserted. This happens all the time on pc so clearly sony is the issue here instead of the developers.

They only announced BC for the PS4, but not PS3, PS2, PSP, or PSX. They really need to, because all Microsoft has to do is to include a Windows 10 Virtualization app in with the Xbox Scarlett - and Xbox will have a far more robust Playstation backwards compatibility solution than the Playstation 5. And I don't see any reason why they shouldn't... the Windows sandbox would be idiot proof since it can always be reset, and doesn't provide the user with direct access to the actual hardware or software base of the console... and Windows on the livingroom TV was always the long-term goal of the Xbox platform before Seamus decided to make a video game console out of it. They're doing a lot to bring Xbox experiences over to the PC, so why wouldn't they want to extend the windows PC experience over to consoles to further unify their ecosystem? It'd certainly be welcome, if minor, boost to PC marketplaces like Steam and GoG who Microsoft is wanting to sell their games through. As a side effect, users would also get direct access to all the latest nightly builds of the various emulators out there.
