What am I in for? Is it faithful to the originals?
Spyro
It's literally the original with a new skin and some minor design changes that doesn't take away from the game.
Yes, even to the point that 3 is still a glitchy and rushed mess.
Soulless
They're still really fun and relaxing collectathons, you have to like the genre to appreciate them but I think it's not hard to do so due to how charming they are.
>collectathons
Spyro isn't a collectathon.
Banjo-Kazooie is a collectathon.
You're in for a really great remake that's sadly held down by some really noticeable downgrades and missed opportunities.
>Gun-wielding Gnorcs are censored despite NST allowing Pinstripe his tommygun
>bosses in 1 are given no extra flair, unlike NST's bosses
>fucked up color theory, downgrading some really majestic locations from 1 into generic places in the sky
>hit-or-miss NPCs in 2 and 3, like the monks in Idol Springs who look really ugly
>absolutely no extra content, unlike NST which adds levels and time trials
>required download
Granted, there's still tons of improvements. 3 is actually fucking playable, the dragons in 1 are superior to the originals, the Gnorc designs are kino, and Tom Kenny in 1 is great. Sadly, unlike Crash's remake which is a blatant improvement, Reignited Trilogy misses some marks. It's alright.
What the fuck? How are you not going to consider Spyro a collectathon?
Its an actually comfy game. There's not much challenge to it save for a few sneaky dragons/eggs.
Can anyone redpill me on what happened with Spyro 3, I'm playing it now.
The original was rushed to get it out by the end of the year 2000 (the year of the dragon) so it had lots of glitches. Also heavily focused on mini-games and side characters rather than just Spyro himself. I do agree that RT made it slightly more playable though.
They're exactly the same as the originals with modern graphics and more polished mechanics, they're still great and a lot of fun if simple
A solid platformer
A better platformer with some minigames
A third platformer that got carried away with gimmicks
And and inconsistent art style throughout all three
1 >>> 2 > 3.
I never played the originals back then (was a pc kid) and I still really like the remakes, the gameplay aged well.
I really disliked the Crash remake, so it was a happy surprise.
Also the pc version runs like a dream.
165 locked on 1440p without that disgusting motion blur
1 = 2 = 3
and in the reignited trilogy it once again got rushed out and has lots of glitches, they stayed true to the original at least
Fatfags/barafags get the rope
>Lose weight first. That's all I can tell you.
I'm only maybe 20% into YotD but I haven't noticed any glitches, didn't come across any in the previous two either
I kek every time
obese
I fully completed all three games last week and I didn't run into any issues with Spyro 3. Maybe it was only true at launch and they've since patched it?
I never played the originals but had a bunch of glitches with the skateboard shit in 3 when I played it through the remakes recently
>Spyro isn't a collectathon
you are retarded
you only really notice it in the skateboard sections also people say it's rushed since the baby dragon collectibles don't have the same polish spyro 1s dragons do
Night Flight and Icy Flight are still pains in the ass. Tree tops are bad as well, otherwise easy game
I've only done one of the skateboard sections so far but the only thing I noticed was that you have to be aimed pretty much perfectly dead on when you come down from a halfpipe to not wipe out, other than that I didn't see anything
The PC version is bugged so you gotta play levels like Alpine Ridge at 30 FPS.
the rocket skateboard sections to be exact
personally i've only noticed it in the super bonus world, that skateboard map there sucks ass
luckily Alpine Ridge is the only level like that, and it's just the one door that's broken
you have to lock the game on either 30, 60 or 120, uncapped has some sliding issues but i complete the whole thing on 120 and never encountered that druid bug on alpine ridge
No one has mentioned how they completely butchered Stewart Copeland's wonderful OST? That's strange because that and the changes in color have made my interest none existent
You can use the original OST so people who don't like the new one don't even have to listen to it.
i just used the original OST for most of it, the reignited version arent all bad but most just seem to add "bloom" to the songs to make them softer for a lack of a better word
Here's ur remake bro
>there are people genuinely bothered by this
holy shit you absolute fucking losers
t. Hacktivision employee
Even the GBA games had gem cascades
but user the SOUL
and it's a different color too, unbelievable
the ps1 transitioning screens do look better objectively but if you put the game on a PC with an ssd you won't even see the treasure count completely so it really doesn't matter
This. I don't actually have loading screens except for sometimes in Spyro 1 for some mysterious reason.
It's good.
My only regret was to 100% everything in two days and not keeping some left to last longer.
Behold
Fairy ass.
>dim lighting
>portal is just a wavy jpeg you fly into unlike the original where it's like you're flying into another part of the map
>gem counter ticks up instead of the KINO original where your gems explode out of you
>no mix up of camera angles that show you that spyro really is moving relative to a fixed camera, instead goes for a camera position that follows spyro and shows no real movement like some kind of animation cell or a rolling background out of a 50s cartoon
It's the small things user
A terrific remake of one of the best playformers.
Ignore autists too hung up on minor details to see the whole.
Yeah the skateboard physics are fucked up, otherwise no issues here either
>everyone spazzes out and jerks off over Elora in the remake
>nobody talks about the objectively cuter Fracture Hills fauns
>They're exactly the same as the originals with furshit character design
Yeah this is bullshit bro we need to let Activision know we do not forgive or forget and they should expect us
They're well-designed, kid-friendly cartoon characters. Why do you care if furries also like them? That's been the case forever with any animal mascot franchise.
their accents are cute
most look weird with high detail and some of them are shit, especially Bentley holy fuck what even happened there, but keep in mind that 90% of the designs in the original are polygonal lumps vaguely shaped like whatever they're supposed to be, so I get why liberties were taken
Bentley looks fairly similar to his previous redesign from... A Hero's Tail I believe?
What kind of bizarro world do you live in? Nobody likes nuElora.
People were posting her constantly in the month or so before release, what are you on about
I think this guy is in the game
>Is it faithful to the originals?
Only difference is the graphics, but the artstyle is way worse. Even the framerate is faithful, as if you try to play at a higher framerate shit starts getting fucked up.
>except for sometimes in Spyro 1 for some mysterious reason
In the first game, Spyro does a hoop before landing in the level, and they coded it so that animation only happens after a preset amount of time after entering the portal, so even if the level could load in 0.1 seconds, you'd still see the "long" loading screen cause they literally set it to last that long regardless of actual loading times.
