It was pretty clear they were going to add Aerith's resurrection to that concluding, most important, ultimate entry that they used all the other entries to establish, VII-2. The entry, which they then didn't make because making it requires actually producing all the assets and if you're going to do that, you can just as well use them to make the Remake first.

Advent Children: Officially Aerith can manifest like Sephiroth, but chooses not to.
Dirge of Cerberus: Deep diving into the Lifestream as though it's the internet. (Lucrecia ghost returning the Proto-Materia to Vincent through said method.) (Lucrecia holding the last bits of Jenova on the Planet is also the last cliffhanger hook for Sephiroth.) (Also the Lifestream based on what the Tsviets were saying, can return you to life as is from the Lifestream, if you make a Omega Weapon trip to another planet, but maybe that was all Hojo's lies and they were fooled.)
Crisis Core: Minerva can straight up resurrect you.
X-2: Maybe, just maybe the way death works on Spira can somehow allow Aerith too, even if she's the only non-Spiran on the Planet and the systems never seem to have correlated well. (Because the connection is idiotic, but I digress.)
