Cube World

5 days until alpha buyers get their early release.
If you didn't get the alpha you'll be stuck waiting until sometime in October.
What games are you finishing up before it comes out?

>early

Didn't the dev abandon this game?

He didn't, he kept working on it for 6 years in his spare time and now it's finally getting a release

you make it sound like a few weeks is longer lol, it's not that early to play

It's still something. I just want to play.

Attached: 9172019.jpg (1920x1080, 451K)

Someone crack this please in the first hour again.

I bought this the day he released it years ago. Where do I go to get into the early release?

log into picroma.com and go to my games
the key will be there

Attached: river.webm (640x360, 2.91M)

Are keys still being sold somewhere? Could not find anything on ebay.

NO MAN’S CUBE WORLD

I remember trying this game years ago and getting destroyed by giant bees or something, I didn't know what to do or where to go

Each area should have more logical progression now. It's heavily built around questlines and discovering/collecting artifacts while exploring.

Attached: CVi93A_WwAAiSBy.jpg (1200x635, 200K)

Looks really cool, I can't wait to play this and hytale

>No Win7
Fuck you Kraut

>playing this abandonware when Dragon Quest Builders now exists

Thanks user

theres already a fix

Bait.

Hello newfag

>no PC release
Into the trash

Attached: a6d[1].png (680x440, 104K)

does the game still have an underground? I want caves and shit

>game has optimization problems
>windows 7 problems
>possibly many more
This kraut is going to disappear for another 6 years
lmao

He teased it back in 2015 to have a more expansive cave system. We will see if he kept that or did some kind of redesign, but you can see some pretty big caves in the steam screenshots and during the title screen. Should be nice.

Luckily NPCs are suppose to be much better and give you some direction. Level 1 also doesn't look nearly as punishing, since you start with all skills. Just head into the first town you see and you should get some quests and it will snowball from there.

what is it with people and just coming out with some random blocky visuals game that's nothing like cubeworld as if it makes cubeworld obsolete?

Attached: 1568513588541.png (347x427, 253K)

Not him but Dragon quest builder is better than Cubeworld

Apples and oranges.
I'm not playing cube world to build or craft, and I'm sure as hell not playing DQB for its exploration or combat. Cubes are about the only thing tying the games together.

I havent looked into it, but is multiplayer still included? I cant remember exactly if it was in the alpha in any kind of working state.

Yeah it's drop in

>Why play other video games? Pacman was first

Attached: 1473979759470.jpg (840x960, 119K)

Yeah, Multiplayer in alpha worked ok. It was server based and it would crash sometimes. Now it's through steam integration and is drop in because of the changes made to world generation. Now everyone plays on the same world, but in random spots on spawn. This allows multiplayer to just transition to another persons game and not even lose your position. So your friend could come to you or you to them, the only reason someone would want to host is because quests are dynamic, so even if two people were in the same area of the world, they wouldn't get the same quests.

And 6 years since buyers remorse.
Leave it to Yea Forums to keep at that beaten housewife syndrome

>And 6 years since buyers remorse.
What remorse? The original release was great and I got hours of gameplay out of it.

I'm sorry for your loss

it's worthless without steam multiplayer

>dropping win7 support for no reason
yeah fuck this game

Considering there's already a fix made by the players, I doubt it will stay that way. It can't be that hard to fix for the full game. Questionable whether it will be fixed in time for "beta" though.

well given that wollay removed win7 from the store page, i doubt it's getting fixed.

It should be easy. It's just about whether Wollay used any features that were only supported in Xaudio2.8 or not. The fix is simply recompiling the exe with the header for Xaudio2.7. It might have simply been an oversight though, the man has been a Win 8.1 for quite a while and even the alpha had Xaudio2.8 as it's main thing.

video from 2011

We don't know if that was him or steam itself. If the game doesn't run currently on 7, then it would be false advertisement. That could result in both Valve and Picroma getting sued and would be in the right for it. Better to remove it now and put it back once official support has been determined.

But yeah, it sucks to lose 7 for a simple thing as Xaudio2, especially when the solution is a simple recompile, or third party repackage of the dll in a format that 7 can use.

no retard he only abandoned talking about it publicly

imagine being this much of a brainlet

How does this game actually play? Like, what do you do other than basic RPG stuff?

It is indeed, but he's shown that the glider still functions like that now. I just hope that it is still useable when just running along and that we don't have to continually find it again every new area.

I didn't receive an email, the fuck?

No, THIS is from 2011

bait or retarded

my friend told me this plays like adventure mode from DF but it looks to simple to be like that. am i wrong?

You have to log into picroma and go to "my games". They probably won't send emails till it's playable.

I forgot I even bought this thing

This is the most recent and thorough gameplay video from the dev. It's not a great example of anything besides early-game though.

youtube.com/watch?v=uD5tYA13XT4

Your friend is probably exaggerating a little. It's got a lot of aspects from that, but likely doesn't have things like army movement and an ever changing world where cities get captured by rival nations. But it does have procedural lore and quests to go along with them. Like the King of a Capital City could ask you to retrieve some long lost armor that was stolen by some Orc that lives two areas over and you can go kill him to get it back. That's pretty similar to DF.

Quit your blatant shilling. God this game looks like shit.

The dev took your money and ran.
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me

It's nothing like adventure mode, adventure mode is actually good.

But you don't have to buy it again retard its literally a free update.

It'd be super cool to have that terrain destruction still be in the game, and watch your server's spawn point turn into a wasteland over time.

>that one autist so mad he has to spam all cubeworld threads
what a retard

Meanwhile it works without issue on fucking Linux.

>over time.

With the changes to world spawning, I don't even think there will be a home spawn anymore, unless people figure out how to do it themselves.

Not like bombs still aren't a thing though, this could happen even back in alpha, people dropping bombs everywhere breaking the top layer of ground tiles.

are the characters generated like the world or are they premade characters with set stories/names?

>When you're on an anonymous message board but you're too much of a pussy to quote another post
What's it like being you?

>Now it's through steam integration
Please tell me you'll still be able to just host without going through Steam.

They are generic pieces that you can edit a little bit. 8 races for right now. Human, Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Goblin, Frogman, Lizardman and Undead.

i know you make your own guy, i meant the NPCs in the game

It's almost like he's planning on selling this 'finished' versions and other anons don't want him to make any more money

We don't know, it doesn't seem like it though.

All NPCs are randomly generated, except for the five factions, though that might just be their leaders.

The original game had enough content to be worth the 20 dollars it costed so I have no problem with him selling a version with even more content to newfags.

he's literally been developing the game for 6 years though

there's so much proof of this at this point that you have to be a delusional psycho to deny it

stop responding to shitposters

>The original game had enough content to be worth the 20 dollars it costed
No it didn't. It was worth maybe ĹĄ majority of the content was literally pointless grinding for grinding's sake.
If only you knew how much time I wasted with the ranger glider bug.

Do you know where you are?

What race/class are you gonna roll for your first character?

Skeleton ranger here

Attached: 1549104579616.png (342x342, 165K)

why would you want to? steam makes it infinitely easier. literally just get friends virgin

Skele-bro rouge

More options are always a good thing especially when those options make you less dependent on a service.

for me, it's frogman fire mage
or lizardman if they fixed the retarded teeth

Attached: lore.jpg (1200x1160, 438K)

This, skele-bro rogue for life.

this is cool but it'd be cooler if factions/leaders were random as well. how moddable is this game? i know it won't have official mod/workshop support but can you still mod it easily?

radiant quests: the game? hard pass

Attached: 1536268026263.jpg (330x290, 20K)

Orc Berseker, twohanded for first character.
Frogman Fire Mage for second
Rogue Undead for third

Might need more if factions can't be done as one character. I can't imagine that the Steel Empire likes mages much, but they do have faction specific armor for them.

It seems like a much more indepth system then what Skyrim tried. He's got various "quest bricks" and even had to program in a grammar system for the game so that it could make proper sentences with random bits of lore and then had to make sure that they were connected together. So you can actually get an entire storyline about how some king's amulet got buried with him and only an elf by X name knows where the tomb is and then actually find the elf and get a quest where the king has risen as a wraith and you need to go in there to get the amulet away from his body so his spirit can rest.

Much better then.
>I'm looking for work
>Ah yes, I need you to clear bandits at X camp for the third time

>Kraut makes a cute game in his spare time
>Gets hounded to make it an open alpha
>Eventually gives in
>People who begged for it flip their shit over an alpha having issues
>People DDoS his site
>Kraut says "ok don't need to take this shit from retards", goes dark
>Continues to work on the game in spare time, releasing small updates on progress every once in a while
>After six years announce that the game is approaching completion
>Angsty retards jump back on the hate bandwagon, grasping for any excuse they can to justify being angry
>They all end up just whining that a single man's passion project video game took time to make
Gamers really are a dogshit customer base, huh?

Attached: 1566550534634.png (600x450, 410K)

Is it wrong that I want a game like this bit with realistic graphics and not cube/minecraft style?

if that much work has been done on it, then color me interested

Attached: 1418003385434.jpg (860x693, 98K)

I mean it shows it off in the 16 min gameplay video on his youtube channel.

We all do user, we all do, but Cube World for a one man army is pretty damn good

pretty sure pong was first

>2011 was 20 years ago
fml

Yeah, it was part of why he wanted to redo the world generation completely. He said that before it was very hard for quests to be able to handle things in parts of the world that hadn't generated yet. He wanted quest to have you traveling not just the area you were currently in, but also could lead you to completely new lands and bits of lore that wouldn't even give you a quest directly, but could simply point you to an item if you were keeping close watch. In the 16 min vid. He talks to one of the dwarves and they mention a kingdom of Grolant and a ring that went missing. That's an actual place that hasn't generated on the map yet and a ring that you'll be able to find once you go there. The best part is that it avoids the MMO problem. You can get a quest simply by stumbling into the area you were suppose to go. Like the Gnome captured by the witch, you can find that before even talking to whoever. He would get the reward regardless. This also prevents the Skyrim problem, of radiant quests needing a proper location for something and if you cleared out all the local dungeons, there would be no place to put the quest.

>no lightning magic
Come on Wollay...

So for anyone that doesn't know, F2 and F3 can be used to shrink and enlarge the UI, just incase it was too big or small for you guys.

>grasping for any excuse they can to justify being angry
NO OFFICIAL WINDOWS 7 SUPPORT BECAUSE HE IS AN IDIOT
FUCK YOU

>Goblin

hell fuckin yeah

Have you seen them? They're incredibly ugly with those red noses.

REEEEEEEEEE LET ME BUY IT WOLLAY YOU FUCKING REVERSE-JEW

so who has the hack to bypass the beta splash screen?

There's nothing there to bypass. Why do you think the download is so tiny?

other people have done it. you can walk around in the splash screen biome.

The alpha was only 5 MB

Some people have supposedly got through that screen.

So it's an elaborate version of go to camp and kill x bandits?

That's just the launcher.

But how much can you actually do?

No because all leveling and quests are based around factions and items you find, doing quests advances your game. Some quests dont require you to kill people, some are "See that town over there? Bring this ring to my wife". Now yes that is REALLY simple but I'm not writing out a whole quest

There are lots of other style quests. One we have seen is that a Witch has put a town into a stone curse. So you'll need to kill her or that town will stay inaccessible forever. I'm sure there are other quests like that, just these weird random event kind of things that aren't just elaborate kill/escort/retrieve and certainly better rewards for doing them then just a few gold that can't really buy you anything.

Still sounds like generic quests to me

But that is an elaborate kill X quest?

How many animals/mobs are in the game?

There were a good number in the alpha. 48 animal mobs, most of which were tameable. Then the humaniod includes all the playable races, but also Spike Creatures, Gnobolds, Gnolls, Insectoids, Insect Guards, Vampires, Werewolves, Ogres, Skeletons

That's not all of them and the list has only grown from screens that we have seen, especially the undead group.

is there any recent gameplay that gives us a decent sense of whats new and how good its been implemented

youtube.com/watch?v=uD5tYA13XT4

I can build shit, right? The 16 minutes of gameplay doesn't show anything related to that.
How is the character interactions with the NPC? I can trade and talk to them, but can I recruit them? Or even do the same to monster?
Shill me your fucking game.

>I can build shit, right?
This ain't Minecraft.
I may have read something about placing structures though.

I probably won't be playing it. It was an awesome novelty when it came out, but now there are so many games like it. Minecraft, but with gameplay, is no longer that interesting.

will probably play it for free at some point

World looks a bit empty, honestly.

Building isn't going to be in the release but will probably be added later. There was supposed to be a blueprint system that let you build premade structures but there has been no more info on that being added back in or if they're going to expand on it to let you build custom stuff.

Shit, I'll take prefabs. I just want more Kenshi-like shit.

building is the most boring part of kenshi

whats different about this than the alpha

Whats the point then? I'm not trying to shitpost, I mean literally, what do you do in the game?

>If you didn't get the alpha you'll be stuck waiting until sometime in October.
Fucking bullshit

Can you recruit NPCs and have them travel with you?

Odds are the Beta is going to be out for a week. It still sucks how there's a beta test for alpha players since I want to play with mates who didn't buy this game 5/6 years ago.

There's a main quest line and several different factions i'd assume you can join.
No one knows, I think it might just be like the alpha where there are neutral NPCs you can talk to that will attack enemies if they get within their detection range.

why would you choose to have completely solid textures? it looks like shit

>Odds are the Beta is going to be out for a week
The game stayed in alpha for 6 years, so I'm not getting my hopes up. Sucks to be excited for this game for a few years now and see this

It's called voxels and I quite like the look.

Probably not. Your main partners are pets that you tame and can ride.

More creatures/enemies/NPCs in general. Questlines specific to the area you're in, and main major questlines that deal with different factions of NPCs. Tons of new structures, cities, landmarks, and world generation. Artifacts and secrets to find while exploring that give different benefits and abilities. Revamp of all skills and classes. New transportation methods. Better enemy scaling. The game was entirely rebuilt in a new engine.

Still looks like shit six years later.

NPC recruitment was something that was planned, but we don't know if he kept it. I hope he did though, it would be nice to hire the wandering parties, or team up for bosses in some areas.

all is forgiven if i can use those steel empire bots and guns

Attached: ss+(2019-09-18+at+03.54.44).jpg (585x476, 87K)

i will fuck wollay with my bare hands
w/e he might've changed it desu

Even if it was just for one quest line, I would want this. The question though is, how would you control them? They act essentially like a pet and once you kill them, you have to fight the user.

something about out of control mana making the mechs sentient in a mini-biome where its just automatons and mana sprites or whatever
and then you tame them with some kind of rare oil that you get from the ending of steel empire quests

How feasible is it for someone to make a mod that lets you play multiplayer the normal way?

There were only a handful of mods for alpha, so unless the modding scene blows up it would be unlikely. Probably really difficult to detach steam from the multiplayer.

Actually modding was really strong back when Alpha came out, the issue was a TON of mods was lost when the owner of the cube world forums nuked the site

do you think the modding scene for 1.0 will be decent, whenever it takes off? how moddable is the game, even?

this guy is playing the hacked beta

i.imgur.com/tUBcZkc.gifv

reddit is winning
Yea Forums is too brainlet to hack it

It was decent enough, there will for sure be a modding scene. There use to be a mod to allow adding more models and items to the game, but the issue was again lost with the shutdown with the site. As for how modifiable, god to be honest Ill need to come back to you on that, but if there is a will there is a way.

Well, not like he can do much. As far as I can tell, there aren't any enemies. Nice to see some form of exp is still in, I guess that's based on Lore now and you level up as you get 100% of the lore of an area, or the requirement will go up as you go up in level. I think that's an interesting system. I'm using something similar for Skyrim right now. Location and quest based leveling instead of through skill use. Encourages clearing dungeons instead of cheating levels through trainers and other such things.

I bought this game years ago and have completely forgot about it until now, what have they added?

>dust off the computer that I bought to play the cube world alpha without cursor lag
>install windows and boot up the cube world beta
>cursor lag

See

Did the faggot add the fast flying shit for the ranged class back into the game? I quit after it was removed.

It was a bug user

It was fun.

I'm going to miss being able to backwards jump on my ranger, opening the paraglider, and flying off at the speed of sound.
