Used one of these at PAX this year. It ran smoothly, part of the time, during loading and after it there was some definite latency issues. The rest of it it just felt like playing a console. I'm sure consolefags won't notice anything.

I'm 90% sure they were hosting a server behind their booth's walls. After using Chrome remote desktop and seeing how laggy it is on two computers on the same home network, I have some serious doubts that the stadia will work outside of a controlled environment. Even in a controlled environment, it was struggling.

yeah its been what i've been doing for years now, i just look up a nice TV without any smart TV features that bloats the price and connect a chromecast
its cheap, its functional, its fast and yes you can connect it to literally ANY panel that has a HDMI input, if the TV support control by HDMI you can also just connect the chromecast to external power (the adapter comes in the box) and let it be ON all the time, that way you just stream any shit you want to it and it will turn the TV on automatically, also yeah you can also choose to power it with the TV itself if it has any USB port, doesnt matter what kind of USB, it only needs to draw power from it

one thing that happened to me with the second model tho, it stopped working after a while, i looked everywhere for answers and turns out it was the fucking micro usb cable that was busted for some reason, it was the one that came with it, so if something ever fails too hard you have no idea whats going on just changed the power cable

Chromecast basically only works for things that are built to support it, so youtube, plex, maybe a few other things, but aside from that it doesn't really do anything. It doesn't actually stream your screen, it encodes things from applications and sends that to the dongle over your wifi network.

Get a micracast dongle, it's better in literally every single way. It casts your whole screen so literally everything is compatible with it, and it's a direct wifi connection from your PC to the dongle over the 2.4ghz so you can use it anywhere without needing to rely on a router to act as a middle man between your device and the dongle.

The Stadia controller is going to have to connect directly to a 5g network before I even entertain subscribing to this shit
