The only real valid critique is that the 60-70 leveling storyline has a huge lack of direction and pacing issues, but it’s still cool. The liberation plot was anticlimactic for the most part

Is it EU? For a while they made bots on the two new servers and having them go crossworld visit. Since those new servers don't have a priority bonus anymore, the RMT cancer came crawling back making new bots on the old ones. I had like five different bots spam the chat as soon as I teleported to Gridania yesterday on Cerberus and another a few minutes ago.

I'm still confused on the "why" of the whole Lyse/Yda thing.

Viera look nothing like that in-game and are a massive disappointment and I say that as someone who's been playing one since Shadowbringers came out.

Though to be real none of the characters in this game look good, but Viera are clearly half-assed. I wish they bothered to make the models in this game decent.

There is literally nothing more chad than DRG. SAM and WAR probably comes up pretty close. Anything ranged/healing is the exact opposite of what it means to be a chad.

It feels like the original plan was to entirely focus on Ala Mhigo - but at some point they decided to add Doma in as an equally large focus.

It's pretty much a retcon. I'd say 2.0 was the real Yda until the devs decided to go a different route with her later on in Heavensward into Stormblood.

But heres the thing, Yda had already made a name for herself by the time you meet Lyse. She was renowned and respected for the things she had done, and by pretending to be her Lyse was basically just larping as a famous person.

They confirmed in an interview or panel that they were going for only Ala Mhigo, but realized that the zones would be boring and samey, so they decided to add Othard/Doma.

Fuck you, Castrum is a waste of time.

Ala Mhigo seems like the most definitive narrative of SB, but there were loose ends in the Far East so the Post game msq was nothing but Doma... not that I don’t mind, it was really great, just we could’ve have 100% focus on one part of the world or the other.

They didn't really need to do any others. They just needed to make sure the first one made a lasting impression, by making it especially gruesome and horrific for a character we (kinda) knew.

XI's story isn't even that good and none of the expansions had as tight a rollercoaster as Shadowbringers. The only acceptable competition it has is Tactics and Shadowbringers is still better. The nuance of the story, the parrallels between the characters, the little moments that make people feel whole instead of just quest NPCs. XI only has a better story if you're a brainlet that only thinks about plot.

XI has all of that though. It's just that instead of one long serialized story it's broken up into a web of interweaving stories that actually requires effort on your part to understand. Chains of Promathia on its own is some of the best writing in video games.

HW is excellent but ShB is better in almost every way. At least for me, HW felt like you were assisting with someone else's problems. You got personally involved and invested in those problems but you were still ultimately a foreigner to them

In ShB, the journey feels loads more personal. Sure you are again helping out other people and their problems but the level of personal investment and involvement you have in the storyline is just much greater than HW

SB is the black sheep of the expansions so far. I thought it was actually pretty good but it pales in comparison to HW and ShB. I fucking loved the Doma side of SB at the very least. And it gave us the excellence that is Sadu

Stormblood is just awkward and has a lot of story elements that make you wonder what the fuck Banri Oda was thinking.

It was a huge blue ball of an expansion. Neither arcs are particularly amazing but Doma's was definitely more enjoyable (not to mention taking up 3/4 of the story) and all the hard work your character does is pretty much for nothing? How's these nations we liberated? Shit. One sunk to the bottom of a river and the other wont let us in because "We wuz kangz n sheeit" and I pray they get gassed soon.

I disagree. There was way too much reliance on old music. Like Zenos didn't even get his own theme, they just reused Nael's.

I made a list of how much each expansions leitmotifs were used and Heavensward was used way more than Stormblood. Even the Measure of his reach was used more than Stormblood.

Oda isn't the main scenario writer. He is involved, sure, but just to keep the lore straight.

Oda became the main scenario lead for Stormblood, with Ishikawa backing him up and mainly doing Azim Steppe and Gosetsu's arc. Then Ishikawa took the lead for Shadowbringers.

The one thing that agitated me in Stormblood was all the "MEANWHILE AT..........." cutscenes. It felt really excessive at times.

I liked how Shadowbringers zone themes each had just a few notes plucked out of the main theme and then Soken built new songs around them. It's like you start to hear the main theme and then it's just gone because for the most part it's a completely new composition.

I was because I've been hearing about Ala Mhigo and how important it was to literally everything that has happened since 1.0. Every single major plot point is related to Ala Mhigo. Even in 5.0, the black rose in the bad timeline was released over Ala Mhigo. It's the centerpiece of EVERYTHING but got swept aside in its own expansion. It's fucking weird.

There's a reason there's always 1-2 people leaving MSQ Roulette if they get Castrum inside. Just use that queue-helper add-on if you want to avoid a certain instance.

Same thing happens on preferred servers on NA. Multiboxing bots are blatantly running through the air in major cities in front of many people. They also walk underground and noclip through walls. There were so many bots standing around the FC bank in Gridania that it started playing the crowded noise that only happens when there's too many players in one area.

Diadem could have been so good if they made it soloable, didn't force the fuel shit on non-FC queues, added more gathering stuff from Heavensward and Stormblood and give cool glamour weapons from the emergancy mission.

Castrum is better if you want Tomestones since it's over faster and you get the same amount regardless. Praetorium is better if you want EXP since it's much longer but gives out significantly more EXP than Castrum.

Unpopular opinion: Black Rose should be selectively released into La Noscea to help cull the disgusting fem roe population

After all that shit about them being in the shed, it turns out they just do slightly worse dps (that will eventually outclipse other dps as crit amounts increase) and have some dummy thicc sustain. The only thing I miss about SB warrior is it's pure "oh fuck everything's complete fuck" ability to just full heal itself while getting healed more and taking 20% less damage the whole time, but the self sustain not costing dps seems like a pretty decent middle ground to it.

In-lore, glamours. This is explicitly acknowledged for Thancred, and Y'shtola gets quips about having 'magically halted the flow of time'. The real reason is meta, which is that they wanted to reset the game but did not want to reset their character designs to middle-aged.

Yes, I did play 1.0 and those meetings are Echo visions. The opening is always kicked off by the meteor shower vision which first activates the Echo, and subsequent meetings always start with a 'woosh' effect indicating another vision. Rewatch the cutscenes. Not only has it been confirmed multiple times by devs, it's literally impossible to have seen the actual Yda or child Minfilia in 1.0 if they weren't Echo visions.

Echo also worked on different rules back then so you get weird shit like actually altering peoples' memories so they think you were always there, bringing things like Minfilia's flower out of the vision with you, and dragging Y'shtola from one Echo vision into a deeper Echo vision because the power gets amplified by the Seal Rock key which was only actually inside the first vision and not even physically near you. 1.0 Echo was fucking weird.

Really good content, but here are my main gripes with it
>The story just doesn't feel right. From the very beginning of the expac you're told the main priority is to finally take back Ala Mhigo once and for all. Ala Mhigo has been foreshadowed ever since all the way back in 1.0, and the struggle between the city-states and the refugees had been a thing since back in ARR. Not to mention we spend a lot of time with Raubahn, whose main goal has always been to take back his homeland. So you'd think the entirety of Stormblood would involve liberating Ala Mhigo, right? But then all of a sudden you're told to go all the way to the other side of the world to help liberate this other country, Doma. Now we have heard about Doma, and Yugiri had been with us for a while, but anything involving it was kinda pushed aside in favor of the main conflict at the time. But now we have to drop literally everything and help them instead of doing what had been built up over 6 years. I don't know if they thought the Ala Mhigo arc couldn't hold up an expac on its own, but the way everything was resolved just left a bitter taste in my mouth.

for a small house, about 2-4 million depending on availability. you will need to physically purchase the plot in person and buy a permit to build a house on top of that as well, so make sure you have like 500k extra on top of the house price. If there are no plots available on your server, you may also try an apartment for 300k gil, which functions as half of a small house. If you are in a free company, and the fc owns a house, you may also purchase quarters there and receive a second apartment.

Been experimenting with UI lately. How's this look?
Shrunk down my cross-hotbar to minimum size to try and get more screen space. Not too sure how I feel about it yet. I know my ability placement through muscle-memory, but it's been a bit more difficult to see procs, though in case of BLM I can see those on my job HUD and buffs anyway. Debuffs would be on the right side just below my cast bar, alliances would be above the LB bars. Sprint and return are up there so I can keep an eye on their cooldowns, but honestly it's probably not necessary to keep those up there. HP/MP bars are bigger so I can keep an eye on them while playing a tank without having to move it around where it'd be in the way as any other role. It actually works well enough like this, though I wish I could place HP over MP rather than having them next to each other. I also raised third-person camera placement by a bit so I can keep an eye on boss telegraphs.

BLM can be kinda light on UI since you don't really need to keep an eye on all that much, but it gets a bit odd with other jobs. A lot of them I have to work around the cast bar placement and try to get their job UI set in a way I can keep an eye on without being too minimalistic or in the way.

Show me UIs I can steal.

You didn't ask for it, but you were partially right. I almost fell off the edge because I couldn't see my own feet with the job UI covering my character. Moved the camera from 80 to 60 so that when fully zoomed out my character will be visible over the job UI and under the target bar. Kinda wish I could shrink the BLM UI a little more, but this is it at minimum.

In case of add phases or if there's two bosses and the focused boss starts casting some important mechanic. It's a very specific scenario and not one that comes up much anymore, I shrunk it down to the default 100% from 160% I think.

Other jobs won't have a cute gauge to give meaning to your cast bar being offset like that. On any caster it's the thing that gets looked at the most, even more than the enochianometer and your buffs and definitely the boss hp.
Also you have tons of space above your character. Jam packing everything on top and under it doesn't improve your scan pattern.

I think you can mess about with integrating cast bars into job UI. Not a lot of jobs I play actually cast much, though, so it's mostly designed around BLM's. For those that really get in the way, like GNB or DRK, I use simple mode.
Cast bar size has served me well enough so far. I put it back to 100% just to see how it'll do. I've gotten used to my own casts enough to not really need the UI as much, while the boss' casts have become more important desu.
