Really pissed that my fat PS3 has given up reading bluerays/games. Still have several I want to play. Should I get a second hand slim one or buy a replacement laser for my fat one?
Which of these fucks is not going die on me from casual non intensive use (i do live in a country with hot and humid summers though)?
It's been long enough now, anyone had a PS3 for several years and used it regularly without it dying on them?
what's wrong with you, just mod it. If the issue is just reading games then install them on the hard disk.
Luis Lewis
My original slim still works despite getting 100x more use than my original fat. Even used a stupid lot playing things like pic related 20 hours a day.
Not to say it might not fail, but it doesn't have any glaring design issue like the fat did (ylod, optical drive failure, and psu were all likely to kill it). Super Slim is probably fine but it overall just feels cheap.
My slim still good (since 2011)I'm playing warhammer space marine and my backlog is still full
Justin Myers
I'm cheap and lazy. My 40gb hdd isn't gonna hold a lot of games and I am certainly not buying some expensive special type hdd to expand it when physical games are available for between 100 and 500 yen each right now. I just want the fucker to read them, would consider spending the 900 yen plus postage to buy a new lens, but I really dont want to bother installing it if it might die again within a year or two.
Liam Smith
>just mod it That doesn't excuse a shitty design
Jeremiah Jones
I hope you learned your lesson user. My sega saturn is still working after 23 years. Sony consoles are shit.
personally I just threw my old 512GB ssd in it (used to use on my PC) since I use a 1TB nvme drive now. On that note, a SSD really helps the PS3 given its major issue with fragmentation (yeah, it can't use it fully but it has plenty of other problems that it helps with)
Jonathan Moore
ok, good thing there are ways to get around the shitty design
I think getting second hand slim is going to be cheaper than replacing blu ray in your fat. If you don't care about not being able to play ps2 games then you should go for some cheap slim or superslim. And yeah, all electronic devices are designed to die quicker nowdays so you can be a good goy and get new one quicker.
Owen Torres
Please fuck my wife
Caleb Torres
my fat one works fine. i've had it over 10 years. just played it with yesterday
>I just threw my old 512GB ssd in it well mr gucci loafers, we dont all have spare 500gb ssd drive lying about and if i did it would go in my computer, also, since my laser is not reading shit, i really dont see how I am supposed to install games on a hdd (not that the fucker would allow me to do that without some secret nerd code hackedinto it anyway). I just want it to play all the super cheap games I have picked up in the last few months and am willing to invest up to about 50 dollars in total for it (or a more reliable used model) to do that and am asking for advice on which one to go for..
Luis Parker
>He doesn't know about Black Weebs Unironically top tier bros
Aaron Scott
I bought the MGS4 fat 80GB bundle in June 2008 and it ylod'ed in 2010 while playing Yakuza 3. Rather than bother fixing it, I sold it and bought a slim which still works.
Ironically MGS4 is still in my backlog and i haven't touched it yet
Xavier Fisher
Got my fat in 2008. Disc drive died a few years back, so I hacked it. It's started overheating like hell though so I probably need to change the thermal paste, which I would do if I weren't such a blithering retard.
hacking it isn't hard, if money is a problem just hack it and don't go wasting your money on buying a brand new PS3 (getting it fixed is also costly given it's the drive, ylod would've been easier), and just hack it
Lot of games are pretty small, assuming you don't play many games at once and just play them to the end, you can rotate the bigger ones and live with 40GB. Although it'll be a problem for those that used blu-ray space to 100% and go over that.
You really don't even have a old 80GB 2.5" drive laying around? If not, you could probably get a used one for almost nothing, those go in bargain bin when people don't need them anymore. This isn't some special PS3-only drive like on Xbox 360
as much as I'd rather use emulation than use my old PS3, the list of games that run on RPCS3 is still rather short, and most of those have issues
plus OP looks like a major poorfag and I doubt he has a cpu that could run anything at all
Ethan Reed
My 2007 fatfuck still works only upgraded the hdd to 500 gigs.It might get a bit loud but that doesn't matter much since it's always meters away from me.
Eli Edwards
I'm intrigued, but I am assuming getting those rather large game files of the internet would require paying some filehose service for decent download speeds..
Jonathan Peterson
If you are as desperate to save money as it appears, then I really don't see how a new PS3 or taking your PS3 to a repair shop will compete on a price basis with hacking the system which is FREE (outside of time invested and you need at least one USB stick which I assume you own).
As for the HDD, as others have pointed out it uses a generic drive. I put in an old 1TB I had lying around a few years back, but it's just a standard 2.5" drive bay. Here in Bongistan I can get a (USED) 500GB Sata HDD for 10 pounds including shipping which should store almost your entire game library. Not sure how prices compare in whatever country your in but USA/EU should be very similar pricing
Most websites use link splitters but from what I recall you can get most games via Google Drive / Mega / Dropbox. There should also be torrents for some of the more popular games
Grayson Edwards
My slim still works. Haven't really used it for ~2 years though
Colton Morris
Pretty much
Angel Rodriguez
I have owned a first gen 320GB slim since early 2011, I still use it to this day and it's shown no signs of dying
Gavin Barnes
I use my slim way more often that my ps4 desu. I wonder why "ps4 haz no gaem" meme didn't take off when the ps4 has less worthwhile games than the ps3
Alexander Morris
My PS3 slim died after 5 years because the HDD got busted.
Jackson Thompson
The fats are designed to die (using 90nm chips). The slims are built to last (using 45nm chips)
Nolan Rivera
ive had a super slim since 2013 and not a single issue has ever erose \
Anthony Green
The meme for ps3 is entirely because the launch selection _combined_ with the 360 being out for a year and already have a lot of stuff to play, and then memes just keep going even if the situation changes.
in case of PS4, xbone and wii u weren't really doing better
Nathan Turner
Mine must be like 10 years old and still works. The controller was knackered though, but I mainly used it for PC so didn't even think about that.
Isaac Richardson
ok thanks, this does sound good and the right thing to do since those fuckers designed the console to just stop reading the fucking games. hacking it seems the most appropriate response..
Dunno I'm probably in the minority but all of my sony systems(psx, ps2, ps3, ps4, ps5. psp. psvita) are in perfect working condition all of them were first gen too.
Thomas Kelly
I think both have a decent amount of exclusives, but I prefer the ps3 ones. The resistance trilogy was fucking awesome.
Brayden Perry
Isn't it really easy to swap the hdd on ps3's? Couldn't you have just put in a new one?
John Morgan
A new PS3 BD drive costs like $25. Maintenance costs money.
Easton Sullivan
Good luck, just follow the guide and you should be good to go after a couple hours
Not for long, MGS4 is probably the most demanding game and the first part can already be played in 4k60fps. Many good games are flawlessly emulated like Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Persona 5
Christian Hill
>emutranny always recruiting.
Jace Butler
> flawlessly emulated no, hacks and compromises are not flawless. Flawless emulation might happen in 80 years, but you can get a perfect version with a $50 PS3.
Angel Wilson
It had no games it was never alive
Colton Thompson
get new material
Grayson Martin
mine cant be modded tho
Dylan Roberts
I've had my 80GB fat PS3 since 2008. I had to replace the Blu-Ray reader after four years but the new one is still going strong. I also replaced the hard drive because fuck reinstalling games over and over again.
I've been pretty fearful of it breaking down eventually. My old saves are still on the original HDD but since then I've put in a lot of time in Persona 5 and REREV2.
Benjamin Price
If you're a superslim cuck you can still play pirated games via hybrid firmware, it does involve jumping through a few hoops though
Samuel Jones
the fat one come from back then when chinks capacitors would just eventually die but all the six gens have that problem and the are doing fine. The other problem is the early lead free solder that give you problems similar to the rrod.
Hunter Lopez
nah it's a slim but it's a model cech-3001a and I couldn't get anything to work on it
Sebastian Campbell
I only use my PS3 for Movian so I can stream my anime from my PC to my TV since I'm too lazy to hook my PC to my display.
Owen Brooks
If you live in a hot place, definitely get a slim. Fats use 50% more energy which results in more heat generation. It also doesn't help that they're older so the thermal paste is crusty now and the internals are dusty which only overheat the system more.
Adam Murphy
Last time I tried PS3 media streaming with PS3 Media Server it couldn't even handle 720p h264 content.
Leo Gomez
Still having physical games...
Cameron Evans
>couldn't even handle 720p h264 content. Then you fucked something up because 1080p h264 is nothing for the ps3
Wyatt Robinson
Fuck PS3. I had two slims that had harddrive failures and destroyed perfectly good hdds in the process. Hell, one of the failures was because the PS3 froze and needed to be hard reset.
Kevin Cox
They aren't all "designed to die" it's just the FATs all used cheap inferior led free soldiering and thermal paste that would literally fucking melt over prolonged use meaning the whole thing shat itself upon drying again giving the YLOD. The super slim meanwhile just uses cheap as fuck shoddy parts. Its garbage and it's known to have a power source that just gives up booting up when it overheats for a bit making you wait until its cooled down. The only well made one is the medium slim. Those fuckers last. Still use mine regularly.
Oliver Wright
Works on my machine. Make sure you're using the latest Movian and media server. Also use wired connection since PS3 WiFi is ass.
Evan Brown
Interesting, good to see Movian is at least competent. I'll stick to Plex for now.
Hunter Morales
there are not compromises if there are not noticeable glitches or bugs. And if your idea of perfect version is a 720p game that can't even keep stable 30fps then sure, buy the console
Leo Turner
>And if your idea of perfect version is a 720p game that can't even keep stable 30fps Exactly as the devs intended. Anything else is imperfect, such as all Emulation.
Colton Brown
Yes actually. I was a teacher in some inner city school and I used to let people hang out in my classroom to play cardgames and vidya as an afterschool activity. A lot of them were black and they were always watching anime and playing yugioh.
Michael Jenkins
I just bought a launch model fat PS3 from the flea market for 5 bucks. Brought it home and it booted, but it was LOUD AS FUCK and sounded like a goddamn jet engine even idling on the menu. So I took some time to completely dismantle the fucker, clean the dust out of everything, got rid of the shit tier thermal paste sony used on the cpu/gpu, and applied some of my own stuff. Now it runs cool and much quieter. Besides the thermal paste and unleaded solder, the other main problem seems to be the fucking power supply. The thing is huge and gets as hot as a clothes iron. At some point I might look into making some custom cabling and putting together an enclosure so I can at least make the thing an external power supply. No idea what they were thinking with this shit
I know YLOD is basically inevitable with these launch PS3s, but I'll do what I can to extend its life. Also it was only on OFW3.15 so installing CFW was a breeze
I have the first fat fuck and it's dead as fuck. What a shame that they were built like shit. Those first ones were great.
Henry Nguyen
This. It really baffles me. The PS4 library makes The PS3 look amazing in contrast.
Justin Foster
>only 512mb of addressable memory
It's amazing how some games manage to work on this thing like GTA V or FFXIV
Brandon Gonzalez
Apparently they can be salvaged if you replace specific NEC/Tonkin capacitors on the mobo. Don't know the full details though
Dominic Peterson
I'm retarded and don't know how to download. i pay a friend of 0.50$ the game, I spend ~80$ in game every generation. I would like to lean how to torrent shit, but last time i tried a fried my potato machine
Brayden Long
It had no games
Isaac Fisher
they are all shit. I have owned them all and they are all dead. The PS4 on the other hand, that shit just won't die but the PS3 is just unreliable trash dude.
Christian Kelly
The PS3 has no games meme came out before the redesign of the original PS3, after that the PS3 had a bunch of great games. And yes i agree if a PS5 is announced next year, at least for me, the PS4 had way less worth games than the PS3. Even so that is like saying this pile of shit smells better than this other pile of shit.
Austin Price
First PS3 was the best imo
Liam Nguyen
My PS3 which i got in 2006 still works to this day, the only console i've ever had that had issues was my 360 which had to be repaired due to RROD back in 2007.
Jayden Ward
Does your last name start with Dave?
Daniel Price
fat ps3s will last if you take care of it aka clean out the dust, change the shitty thermal paste with some good paste, and use cfw to control the fanspeed.
Bentley Scott
I used my 7th CECHL01 fat all the time when it was new (no bc/80 gig) and it still worked last week when I played Ridge Racer 7 and God of War Saga.
Obviously I don't use it all the time but it shows no signs of slowing.
Charles Perez
Meant to say its the 7th iteration of the fat model.
Juan Baker
I've been using my slim since december of 2012 and is working.
Ian Sanchez
how do you play a game 20 hours a day?
Lucas Ross
This. My fat PS3 still works and I only needed to give it a bit of maintenance twice.
Jordan Green
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Leo Parker
Literally all modern electronics are designed to die after a few years of use you retards
Chase Perry
leave the game running
Andrew Myers
mechanical parts are, electronic parts will last a long fucking time if taken care of. but apparently most people that own consoles are subhuman. just look at people with cockroach ps4s.
Matthew Flores
That's what I'm doing. Just hope it lasts
Austin Jenkins
Things like failing capacitors are not caused by poor user maintenance
Logan Thompson
I've had a super slim for 7 years and it works fine, the fan is a little loud but nothing I cant clean of fix on my own
Luis Rodriguez
I have a super slim since 2014. Works damn well and never gave me a single problem, i don't even use bluray discs in it practically, only digital games mostly.
Ryan Brown
capacitors will last longer than the bluray drive if your system isnt being choked by dust and the crappy default fan curve.
Levi Rodriguez
Yeah capacitors fail but after like decades unless you are a Microdick Shitbox.
Matthew Wilson
Wait a sec is it not a good idea to get a ps3 from ebay? Was thinking of getting one.
Had mine since 2008 still runs like a champ, but now I'm trying to mod it so I can dual boot linux off of it though.
Cooper Anderson
Mod that shit. I cant remember the last time i put a blue ray in to my PS3. Like one or twice because it was easier to rip the files to my HDD than downloading them of the internet.
Depends on how trustworthy the seller is. I got both my PS3 and PS4 from ebay and they've both been perfect. Just as long as you're not buying from some mystery chinese bot that has no seller rating you'll be fine.
Nathan Stewart
If you have a used game store around you with a good warranty get one there. Its easier to just drive it back if it shits out rather than pack it and ship it. Especially the fat thing weighs a ton.
Thomas Evans
My fat PS3 recently got the red light error.
So I opened it up and cleaned out all the dust and applied new thermal paste.
But now it won't even power on at all. It's not the power cable, as I used different ones. How do I fix it?
Elijah Smith
How do you apply patches to the games?
Michael Stewart
My og ps3 that could play ps2 games died, but my 2nd ps3 is still going fine.
Noah Thompson
my fat died after a few years, but my slim has lasted a good amount longer than that. I think it's been a good 7 or 8 years and it still seems to work fine, no problems
David Campbell
Yeah some handhelds I bought are holding up pretty well.
Couldnt get to find on from a local game store but they have been selling ps3 games for 5 dollars.
Wyatt Kelly
Should I buy this fucking ps3 move for rail shooters?
Joshua Roberts
If your console is not banned its automatic even on pirated copies. If it is you can also download them using the Multi-man. Alternatively you can find a PKG file for a patch. PKG is also the file format for PSN games and even cracks for games come in PKG format.
Charles Diaz
I played it last year finally after a decade since release and honestly it was a let down for me, the bosses were not memorable, levels didn't seem all that well designed, and frame rate was crap when you wanted to have "fun" going rambo
I felt 3 and V were better games, when people say 4 was a movie they weren't wrong.
Gabriel Nelson
I bought a slim in 2010 right when the system first got jailbroken. Definitely a worthwhile purchase, but I haven't played it lately.
I know fats are unreliable, but is there sny concerns with the slims, and anything I should do to maintain it? Do slims need their thermal paste replaced, for example?
Andrew Thompson
The only great rail shooter is pic related. Has Time Crisis 4, Deadstorm Pirates, and Razing Storm (which wasn't a Time Crisis game originally, but was retitled as such for the home port).
I have real copies of all PS3 games I want but maybe I'll do all this in the future when it is as easy as PS2.
Jaxon Smith
Yeah, the bosses were a big letdown. Until then, the MGS games were renowned for their rogue's galleries of interesting boss squads. Then in MGS4 we just get four mocapped maxim models with the most generic copypasta'd backgrounds that it feels like kojimbo is in on the joke.
I did like the stealth gameplay of 4... when it was actually there
Asher Anderson
It supports more than rail shooters though. Strategy games like RUSE and platformers like Puppeteer support it too. I agree with .
Jaxon Nguyen
Oh yeah it supports other games.
I loved playing through Resistance 3 with it (needs the nunchuck PS equivalent). Even dominated multiplayer.
Luke Kelly
This is as easy as its going to get. Everything is done through softmod now. Back when I hacked my PS3 I had to open up the console, program a nor dumper, dump the nor chip, edit the nor dump on PC, reflash it, then put the system back together. Way harder before but its ez now.
Aiden White
I am only interested in rail shooters. This ps3 move looks like the last flash in this dead genre on home consoles.
Ryder White
>dark souls 1 is the only FS game not on PSN >installed SSD for nothing
Ryder Foster
you can play isos or disc dumps on drives. tales of vesperia never got a psn release but that didn't stop me from playing it on my hdd.
Bentley Martin
You can get the House of the dead games (3,4, Overkille xtended cut) on PSN too.
Someone needs to start setting up a custom server for R3. I never got around to play the MP.
Jose Nelson
I bought a 2nd hand fat ps3 from a pawn shop about a decade ago and it hasn't skipped a beat after quite a lot of use over the years. All I've done to it is swap out the hdd for a sshd when I first got it.
Joseph Baker
Oh, and Dead space: extraction and Resident evil: The umbrella chronicles got ported to PS3 too.
Owen Richardson
lol, you don't get how this works. You use a program like multiman to run disc-based game files through a drive emulator. The PS3 thinks its running s physical disc
Levi Gray
Take the trip to you nearest arcade and play Scarlett Dawn if you haven't, its a satisfying sensory experience.
Any performance boost from using an SSD? Curious about that because for my PS3 I've always just used old spare laptop hard drives. Loads are of course faster than off the BD drive, but I'm wondering if it also scales well to SSDs too.
Upgrading mine to an SSD mighr be worth it just to get better load times on Demons Souls
Chase Moore
All I hear about is people claiming fat ps3s eventually die but my one is still running to this date since 2008. Are people flat out lying or just taking poor care of their consoles?
Yo man where'd you get that Star Ocean dump? All the ones I've downloaded are either corrupt or missing files
Ethan Davis
>take the trip to your nearest arcade
Why would you hurt me by saying this?
Joshua Flores
not him, but load times are only slightly better. you're not getting the full benefit out of the ssd because you're bottlenecked by ps3s slower sata bus. also PS3 doesn't natively support TRIM so the ssd will get slower overtime as it fills up.
Gavin Barnes
I honestly don't know, I swapped out hard drives before I plugged it in for the first time, never used it with the original hdd.
Isaac Thompson
>nearest arcade They are all dead Jim. Is it possible to connect move from ps 4 to ps 3, all native dildos on sale are secondary use.
Wyatt Brooks
Thanks, I figured that might be the case
Caleb Cook
could you please hook me up with some investigative references? i had no idea, this changes everything
Oliver Allen
I should point out it's an sshd, not an ssd I put in it.
Luis King
Have had my slim since release and haven't had a single issue. I swear to God the people who have consoles break are the same actual retards that slam and throw their controllers then blame the controller build being too cheap. Yea Forums has a lot of those. Take care of your fucking shit.
Ayden Smith
My super slim is still fine. Although I suspect I will have to replace the thermal paste soon. Also as a precaution I only play for around 2 hours and then before turning the system off I let it ventilate for about 5 minutes.
But yes the PS3 in general seem to have a quite a few issues with overheating, especially the FAT model.
Cameron Price
i want a ps5 but i am honestly worried that i'll be buying the worst version, and that a year down the line an improved model will be released, and then again in another year or so
Xavier Nelson
I got the slim in 2012. I used it a couple times a weak until I got a PS4 in 2018. I have not tried playing a game on it since, but I have used it for streaming.
Hudson Lopez
The real issue is that by default settings the fan might as well not be there. If you want your PS3 to last you long you really should CFW it, if only for fan control.
Noah Morris
handhelds tend to last forever if you hoard batteries
slims and super slims should never overheat unless you purposefully choke it with dust or poor ventilation.
fats tend to overheat because they use a fuck ton more electricity to power the older gen cell chip along with the ps2 components on the motherboard. also what said is true, the default fan curve on fat ps3s are terrible. it doesn't kick up the fans until its just about to hit 90c. you ideally want to keep your ps3 at 80c maximum or below.
Austin Thomas
The blessed black hand
Oliver Morales
you can thank nvidia
Michael Peterson
look up multiman on google
Brandon Long
My 60GB model that i bought on day 1 still lives after heavy use over the years.
Well, its good then that I already installed PS3 hen with multiman and Irisman. The fans immediately stepped up their speed after the install so I would say I should be fine. Its just a bit of a hassle with saved games since I used a dummy account to install Hen enabler.
Colton Green
My PS3 is from its release date, ate 10 tons of dust and is still alive.
Leo Butler
I REALLY want a fat ps3 mainly to play PS2 games with proper hdmi out but finding a working fat one and repasting it seems like a fucking undertaking. Then I think about it and basically every worthwhile ps3 game is on PC and all the RPGs that were good got vita or 3DS ports. Probably better to just spend the money on a small form factor gaming PC and emulate, right?
My Fatstation died two months ago after years of use. Decided to get a super slim because it was the cheapest and dusted off my PS2. Frankly, PS2 games run better on it anyway.
Ethan Parker
I would still go for the PS3 route because its being played natively instead of using buggy emulation. Yes some games work great on emulators, but niche titles specifically like JRPGs tend to struggle.
Chase Jenkins
Nigga you can't do anything with a MAC address unless you're connected to the same physical network.
Angel Jenkins
I bought the first slim model available and it died within a month (back in 2011) They sent me a replacement and it still works
Benjamin Myers
Unless you really need that hdmi out you are better of with a fat ps2 with and HDD. Its fully compatible with everything and through OPL you can force some games into 480p mode. Even then you can use some component to hdmi or ps2 to hdmi converter in case your TV does not accept component or SCART.
Also a hacked PS4 does some solid emulation but its not compatible with everything.
Getting a FAT PS3 for PS2 games is just sort of excessive and due to their tendency to fail.
My slim still works after 10 years, what's your problem retard
Noah Williams
>Even then you can use some component to hdmi or ps2 to hdmi converter in case your TV does not accept component or SCART. I dont have a TV, just a monitor in my room that takes VGA and HDMI. I'm a mednigger so I wont have a permanent living situation until after residency, so 4 more years give or take. Hence while I'm a handheld fiend. Those converters tend to fuck the colors and have input lag issues though. Also with a PC I could emulate all the PS2 ace combat games and play 7 after.
Do AMD chips still have problems with PCSX2? A mini tower with a ryzen APU really seems like my best bet here.
Xavier Cruz
So you are dumb AND poor, Damn.
Aiden Morris
>Getting a FAT PS3 for PS2 games is just sort of excessive and due to their tendency to fail. I'm curious where people even get these anymore. I haven't seen a used fat PS3 in years.
Matthew Wood
I got one for 120 euro out of CEX like 2 years ago, Just collecting dust now.
Kayden Hernandez
ebay has a bunch of them. some even sell self serviced units where they already changed the thermal paste.
Connor Ortiz
I see at least one a month on my tiny shit towns classifieds online. I don't think I'd ever buy a fat used though since it's a crapshoot whether or not the dude kept good care of it or not. I'd buy one for like $30 but they're always $80+ for the console alone. There's a ton of used fat ps3's out there.
Jackson Cruz
>Do AMD chips still have problems with PCSX2? Ryzen does a good job, slightly slower than Intel but it's negligible. Just stay away from AMD GPUs, even the cheapest, shittiest GTX 1060 will demolish any AMD GPU in PCSX2.
What is a fair price to pay for replacing a blu ray drive
All local places are charging 300+ since it counts as a vintage system
David Kelly
they go for around $20 on ebay. but you'll have to install it yourself and remarry the drive.
Jordan Hughes
>300+
Lol wtf are they gonna do with it? Take it all apart and gold plate every single component. Last time I checked all it takes is to unscrew the damn thing, unplug the power and flex cables and then just put in a new one.
There are youtube videos that show this and its no more difficult than with a ps2.
Andrew Taylor
Ryzen is good CPU. But since PCSX2 main API is OpenGL then AMD GPUs struggle on it, at least on Windows. Performance is better on Linux through open source drivers.
Dylan Thompson
The installation is easy. The hard part is the remarry process. Every PS3 Blu-ray drive is locked to each unit. So you have to bypass that lock using CFW and other things. If your PS3 is not CFW compatible then you're fucked.
Which is why I question the 300+ part. As far as I know cfw installation is piss easy these days. In fact even latest firmware has been breached with han tools/hen enabler. So unless they use something very special and expensive to remarry the system then 300+ sound like a bit too much.
At that price point you can easily buy another ps3 already with CFW installed.
Not really. More like 50-60 if you dont want the cheapest chinese crap. Even then if you want to use an SSD for storing games its better to upgrade and go for the 1tb alternative. Ps3 games can be huge.
Elijah Foster
What other ps2 emulators are there?
As far as I know a lot of them never really went beyond and announcement and a "we booted up FFX guys".
Benjamin Rodriguez
Yeah you're pretty much better off buying another PS3. $300 is a scam.
Daniel Butler
t. AMD GPU user/can't into settings because he's a dolphin babby
Tyler Cruz
Black weebs are actually really common. Even those trashy hoodrats love shounenshit.
Ayden Hall
Hey I think I remember you. Did you even join my glitched fun rooms?
I've had my PS3 Slim since Nov. 2009. I played it almost non-stop until I got a PS4 Pro last September. I just bought Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time and have fired it back up to play that. It still works exactly like it's supposed to. And I smoked cigarettes for 8 years in the same room I played it in. It still runs flawlessly. I really don't know where this horse shit about them breaking down comes from. This is the first I've ever heard of it, but I can tell you from personal experience, it's dead wrong. Sorry bucko, nice try tho.
My PS3 slim is still working and I played that every single day for years, for many hours straight. It's unbelievable how it's still working, although the disc reader and hdd are pretty much dead now. Until recently my PS3 slim was pretty much a PS2 emulation machine and I used to play on it way more than my PS4 which was a waste of money imo.
Angel Rodriguez
We got a super slim around three years ago, I think the production on them ended around then. It still works, but it hardly gets "regular" use. The most it ever go used is for P5, has mostly been sitting around doing nothing most of the time before and since then. Now it resides in my room as a dedicated dvd/bluray player for my collection of old anime and movies that I bought for nostalgia.
Jaxson Morris
I've been putting off opening up mine and replacing the thermal paste for ages. I think it might be time.
Matthew Sanders
It's worth doing since it can make drop your temps noticeably which means less fan noise.
I did mines a few years ago and on a interesting note, whoever assembled my PS3 at Sony's factory did a fucking terrible job at applying the thermal paste. It was slightly spilling off the chip which means they used a bit too much. It also seemed they used low quality paste because that shit was dry as fuck.

Bought my slim PS3 on Black Friday 2010. Still works today. Although my Dualshock 3 controller can barely hold a charge, it lasts for 2 hours then goes dead.

This is honestly the hardest part about playing PS3 in 2019. The controllers have become worth their weight in solid gold. The market is absolutely flooded with barely functional chinkshit. You need to go full CSI on every purchase but even then you'll probably still fuck it up.
This also applies for 360 controllers. Pic related I bought a fake.
Is it not compatible with other newer wireless controllers?

I bought a super slim that didn't lasted past the second year. Started with video problems, no HDMI and now there no picture. Really debating myself where I should get it fixed or just get a renewed one. Similar pricing.
Sebastian Powell
Anyone have the super slim? Is the disc spinning and disc seeking noisy like mine?
Ethan White
I have no clue but I tend to stay away from third party controllers because they don't feel as good. I can still use my ancient Dualshock 3 with a USB cord though so the battery isn't that much of a issue.

It's louder than the old slim and fat since it's a flimsy sliding door instead of being in a caged drive.
Asher Murphy
I wish there was an easy mod to cool Fat PS3s. I have a CECHA01 but I have it pretty much shelved since it was making me paranoid despite me applying new thermal paste and cranking up the fan via CFW
>tfw found an dusty barely used sixaxis controller recently hidden among some stuff >dusted it off and cleaned it >works just like brand new
Lucas Perez
Are you joking? You can get a PS3 controller easily for 20 bucks or less
Hunter Foster
a nasty used one.
Lincoln Howard
Nah. I don't believe you. Even used. Don't bother linking Gamestop or clearly fake Ebay listings either.
Aaron Hernandez
every disassembly video I see has that dry cheap ass thermal paste. It's crazy how far they cheapened out on it.
Jayden Morris
this is why if I like a system enough, I'll buy two.
Tyler Phillips
My fat PS3 had disc reading problems in 2012. I got the disc reader replaced and it's worked fine since.
Oliver Harris
I'm tempted to import a PS3 just for the cool colors and an actual first party controller.
Cooper Robinson
Super slim since 2013, still use it for kof xiii
Angel Miller
My ps3 is starting to make really loud noises when I try playing dragons dogma dark arisen but is silent with other games dafuq
Anthony Myers
Please user, help me I don't know where to get PS1 games for my vita, i already applied henkaku on it.
Also, is there any freeshop equivalent for the psvita?
Daniel King
how are the snes emulators on ps3? any good? Can you still use netflix/amazon prime after softmodding it? I think you can't since you'd need to update.
Mason Ortiz
Had a 20gb FAT launch day model that lasted 3 years and the slim I got in late 2009 still works flawlessly. I've put thousands upon thousands of hours onto that slim so I'm pretty impressed.
Alexander Clark
OP you're not supposed to toss it around like you do your handheld. If you guys keep dropping them and tossing them they're gonna brake hell same goes for handhelds and controllers.
Are they really that rare and valuable? Our super slim came with one and pstv came with another, we really don't use either system much so the controllers are lightly used and still in great condition.
Luke Clark
I bought a Slim for P5 when it came out played a couple of other games as well like God of Was series, Nier it was a good purchase
