Now that the dust has settled, can we agree that Syndicate (2012) was a good game?

Skrillex/10
It was enjoyable, nothing special
Although that nightclub music was fire
This game was filled with far too many lens-flares.
Fuck off, the story was absolute shit. Who gives a fuck about playing anti-corp in a Syndicate game?
as opposed to Syndicate (any other year)?
I dunno I thought it was kinda neat but you also complete it in like four hours.
It was shit as opposed to Syndicate (1993), yeah.
SYNDICATE
SIN-TICKETS
Felt like it could've been great but was released too early. game had soul
story was predictable tripe with woke POC characters
multiplayer is still fun af
Yes. Despite a horror show production cycle filled with non-stop meddling from EA executives, including one guy who walked in mid-production and demanded everything be tinted blue because the future was blue, it's a pretty kino piece of cyberpunk with amazing aesthetics and gameplay that formed the foundation for stuff like Wolfenstein: TNO.
ah yes syndicate
There is a mod for PC that strips out the bloom. It's rather unstable, though.
>doesn't bring up gameplay
>relies on shit journos complained about
hmmm
SOUL
soulles
No. Because I liked the original syndicate games and this was garbo.
>the foundation for stuff like Wolfenstein: TNO.
How is this a good thing?
Literally Blacked Ops 3 had better "futuristic augmented hacker" shooter gameplay.
And most importantly, WHERE IS THE REAL SYNDICATE SEQUEL
Do you seriously think I looked up 7(?) year old articles just to say I liked the Skrillex part of the soundtrack? Are you mentally deficient?
>How is this a good thing?
Because Syndicate conveyed brutality in a way few games had done before.
>Literally Blacked Ops 3 had better "futuristic augmented hacker" shooter gameplay.
I don't recall grabbing people's wrists and shooting them in the face with their own gun in Black Ops 3. It goes without saying that both Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare took a lot of influence from Syndicate 2012, though. So does Doom 2016. I mean, where do you think the glory kill aesthetic comes from?
No. The AI always knew where you were, the boss fights were terrible, and visually it was an eyesore
It's a good quarter of a game but it didn't really do much after the halfway point.
eh I'm a bullfrog fan too but this wasn't a bad attempt at FPSing the franchise.
could have been great if they added new mulitplayer maps and allowed custom-built maps to be shared and played. the teamwork focus via app coordination is really well done and I have a hard time finding any PS3 games that do coop as well or better.
>The AI always knew where you were
Why is this a problem in Syndicate 2012, but not Doom 2016?
>the boss fights were terrible
They were amazing, though. The one where you fight the guy with no guns of your own, using his own weapons against him was great.
it was banned in the glorious country of ausfailia
It was pretty fun, but short.
Some of those ideas were in DeusEx/Crysis mods and even in Snowblind.
Just because they had the budget to throw extra animations does not make it original.
At best it was a good compilation of ideas, ruined by execution.
It should've had SWAT4-like story structure instead of that predictable and, dare I say, primitive plot we've got. Just a casual working routine of a corporate agents. Would've been 10 times more interesting.
FPSing a strategy game is never a good call imo. Sattelite Reign is a better sequel.
The game's execution is near-flawless, though. Go play literally any Machinegames Wolfenstein game and it has identical gunplay, identical melee combat, etc. Syndicate 2012 is a kino FPS from a mechanical perspective.
>FPSing a strategy game is never a good call imo.
Why not? How is it any different to Wolfenstein 3D?
MICHAEL
WINCOTT.
Just make a new franchise. You're going to piss off some fans.
I really don't care for doom 2016, but when Syndicate enemies literally follow you through a vent, because you can see their laser sight shine through the wall following your every step, its so obvious it detracts from the game.
And I would never call them amazing. There is one boss fight in particular that is such a damage sponge and such a prolonged fight, that there are flying robots that come in simply to drop more guns for you to pickup because you run out ammo constantly.
Fucking this
It really needed that soul crushing dystopia feeling of original Syndicate.
That and body jumping when you die.
Seriously, the main problem of the game is plot. Increase the game's length, remove bloom and throw in the garbage bin the plot, and you have a perfect game.
>And most importantly, WHERE IS THE REAL SYNDICATE SEQUEL
It's called Satellite Reign, go play it faggot
true. aside from using Eurocorp agents and things like the leonardo device, it could have been its own thing easily.
why?
"Banned because of high impact bloody violence"
they like to ban stuff here.
It was way too short but I really liked the fast paced flow of gameplay. It seemed to be designed for the player to run through levels killing enemies without stopping. That felt great and I haven't played a game since that quite nailed that feeling of being an unstoppable techno-warrior.
That was before we had an R18+ rating for video games
Thought it was okay.
Hated the anti-corp route the story took.
Despised the scientist chick.
Merit was an absolute bro.
>tfw you find out through enemy radio that he is slaughtering his way through the undercity just like you to save your ass and get you out of there.
When it released, the unoptimized Unity shit did a number on my old PC.
Maybe if I find time later to give it a another go.
Exactly. If you use an IP use it right.
