OP here. This is actually the game that prompted me to make this thread. I cfw'd my ps3 and started loading games. Puppeteer is one I played for several hours tonight. It is fantastic!

Armored Core: Verdict Day (the 360 version sucks a fat load of ass and pretty much never existed)
Try out Another Century's Episode: R. That's a rare as fuck mecha game that you'll never see in the west, and I think it has co-op.
Try the MotorStorms. They've always been exclusive to PS, and are racing games so you got racing wheels. The 2 person gameplay is rock-solid.
Gran Turismo 5 and 6 have also been exclusive to PS3.
Try out Initial D Extreme Stage if you just want solid, racing wheel drifting action.
JJBA: All Star Battle also has decent 2 person gameplay.
LittleBigPlanet isn't bad, either.
Honestly if Puppeteer had a PS4 version I would have bought one by now. As it stands now neither system has enough must buys to sell me on either of them.

I would reccomend you 4 and 4answer, but since you hacked for PS3, try out the PS2 games. 3, Silent Line, Nexus, and Last Raven. Must plays in the Armored Core series. Be warned though, even if it's made by FromSoftware, AC is not for babies and you will nee to know what parts are good, and what parts suck shit.
Verdict Day generally has a good selection of parts and you can make things work based on preference of your mecha. Just try out what you seem is fun. Be warned though: Verdict Day, much like Last Raven and 4answer, will chew you up and spit you back out.
3D Dot Game Heroes is a fun retro Zelda ripoff.
