in response to the stuff with dimitri from the last thread: if dimitri dies, and thus nobody has the crest of blaiddyd, the obvious candidate for heir to the throne would just be the next person of the bloodline, which is how every succession in history works. Sure, it'd be preferable if somebody had the crest, but it doesn't outright mean that the bloodline dies with the crest if, as someone pointed out, crestless parents can sire crested children. It's essentially just a recessive gene.

The biggest proof it is that Manuela and Hannman are meant to teach eagles and lions by default.

Manuela and Hanneman are clearly default teachers of Eagles and Lions. The only time either of them is teaching deer is if you picked the house that they are meant to teach by default.
Also, Dimitri and Edelgard are the only ones who die in every single route outside of their own. Not even Rhea dies in every route like them. Meanwhile, Claude survives every single route, unless you were edgy asshole in eagle route. It's clear as day that Byleth is meant to teach deer by default, and that Claude is meant to be your default lord. Let us not forget that reward you get for clearing maddening mode is title's screen color changing from blue to yellow. Which further cements that deer are the canon route in this game.

My Caspar had strength speed and skill but he was absolute Paper.
Meanwhile Dedue and Raphael barely took 4 damage total from brave weapons by the end of the run, fuck it my raph couldn't be critted thanks to all the luck I gave him to trigger his passive and the largest crit I saw on dedue was 18.
Defense is just an amazing Stat, sadly Caspar couldn't keep up even when I gave him fortress certification it was too little too late.

Probably because Felix is the only one who gets depressed when THE BOAR dies and gets default bad ending outside of lion route in which he gave up on everything and started living the life of "kill or be killed" instead. If you pair him up with Sylvain outside of lions then you would get the ending that is same as his default ending, except Sylvain gets Felix's sword returned to him in the end which implies that Felix has died in his never-ending battles in which he sought death.

Yes. Felix by default becomes murder swordsman who travels and kills people around outside of lion route. His ending with Sylvain outside of lions route is basically that, but with his death being confirmed. Felix becomes too depressed if the boar dies, which he does in every single route outside of his own.

I used to think Bernie was the best of the wimpy archer trio but now I truly believe it’s Ignatz. Getting Rally Speed as early as he does is huge for preventing doubles early on, and he also has easy access to Seal Strength. +40% hit also ensures he’s hitting those pain in the ass assassins and Swordmasters. I eventually made him into a Dancer Gambit bot, but god damn is he ever a good utility unit.
I also thought Lorenz was one of the worst units in the game but with the range increase and Thyrsus combined with his mixed defenses and high bulk, he’s actually one of the only magic users who isn’t a complete liability in enemy phase. He could Nosferatu tank anything that wasn’t a bow knight, and even bow knights would get Ragnarok shoved up their ass if they targeted him. I’ve never had a fire emblem character redeem themselves quite like Lorenz.

the idea of using a monastery to gain resources outside of battle is good, but there is a lot of room for improvement. there should be more things to do in the monastery. i'd be okay with partly unvoiced dialogue if it makes it easier to add these sections.

Crimson Flower route was never meant to be in the game
The original plan was for the game to have three routes, but choosing Black Eagles would eventually steer you onto Silver Snow with no choice in the matter. Edelgard and Hubert were decoy characters, complete with dummy support levels in the menu that could never be unlocked, and it would be a shock to series veterans that even when you select her, your main Lord is still the villain and still leaves your party forever. When prerelease media went out and Edelgard proved incredibly popular, this had to be addressed to avoid fan backlash (the game was clearly made with an eye on avoiding Fates' criticisms, including any sense of forced morality) and so she was given a full route you could jump on, and more fleshed out to give her a sympathetic angle when you see things from her side. This is why Crimson Flower is the shortest route by six whole chapters - not because of a lack of dev time, mind, but because it's effectively playing out The Bad Guy Wins with a Sympathetic P.O.V.. Edelgard's plans go off pretty much without a hitch, with only one counterattack that serves mostly to write out a few characters who needed to be gone before the final confrontation for cross-route continuity reasons, which brings the war to a swift, brutal end; drawing it out with more months of content would have been blatant Padding.

Those points also explain why several points critical to the other plotlines are never revealed or resolved, as the player is essentially in control of one giant Conflict Killer that renders them moot when Edelgard succeeds. Those who slither in the dark are never confronted for the same continuity reasons, as well as not being able to fit in the narrative without breaking the pacing (momentum plays a crucial part on her campaign). All in all they did an exceptional job of the route if this is the case (everything's still voice acted, Edelgard and Hubert have paralogues, and there's several pieces of optional dialogue that acknowledge the tangled motives recruits such as Felix and Lysithea would have at that point) but the pieces fit together well enough to justify the theory.
Another point I couldn't fit into the above text wall: it would also go a long way to explaining why Edelgard can be Unintentionally Unsympathetic after The Reveal - she was never intended to be sympathetic at all, and the Flame Emperor's actions are so central to White Clouds' plot that even when the option for a Sympathetic P.O.V. was added later, there was no way to write her atrocities out completely, or even fully justify them. This is why the player is given two separate checks before they end up on Crimson Flower - the first, only if they're close enough to her that they might want to side with her at all; the second, so players choosing Black Eagles as their first route would have a chance to stand against her if they're appalled by The Reveal (which happens after the first check is locked in).
