No. DA has a pretty nebulous canon at the best of times (Alistair being on the throne is one of the few confirmed major decisions, for example), and even those can be overridden in-game. The Seekers, Templars, and Chantry failed nearly every stated objective they had, but she's so utterly convinced that if I give those assholes the run of things again, they'll do just fine this time, they swear. In the DA world it's always better to side with the strong willed characters, they are the ones that can keep a modicum of stability, that's why Bhelen is always a better choice than Harrowmont. Cass is way too weak to be in charge, even the Templar accept to go back to the Chantry because they know she won't have any power over them. Vivi is very open about her plans, she will fuck, kill or slander whoever she needs to get to power, but after she gets there she keeps a tight grip on those more chaotic elements.

As much +mana/stamina regeneration gear as possible (or at least enough to cancel out the regen penalty), good armour preferably with low fatigue, and either a fast-attacking weapon or a two-hander with Haste or Swift Salve. Wade's Superior Dragonbone is the best set for an AW if I remember correctly.

Nobody really knows. Andraste said that the whole world needed to worship Him, and the Chantry does so with song in honour of how Andraste honoured Him. But since people fucked up and let Andraste get killed it's gone from just 'let's honour this guy because he's literally the creator of the world and grants miracles' to "now we have to get everyone in the entire world to worship him together, and hopefully he'll forgive us for murdering Andraste and pay attention to us again".

But most of the tenets of the Chantry are written down by some Divine or another "following Andraste's example", like, Andraste fought Tevinter right? So mages ruling and slavery must be bad because only Tevinter does that, etc.

They scrapped the game that was in progress which made both Gaider and Laidlaw quit now Hudson who was responsible for ME3's ending is the project lead and the game is being forced to use the code base for Anthem because EA wasted so much fucking time and money on the trash. DA4 is dead. This book of short stories that's being put out is probably going to be the last decent thing to come out for the franchise.

If you actually read about what they were wanting to do with DA4 it sounded really promising. They want a tighter story on a smaller scale with choices that had consequences in that game not so much """"consequences""'" in the next game. They thought DAI had a weak story that tried to do too much and the mindless exploration and MMO questing was ass and wanted to fix all that by grounding the story more.

Which I'm all for, I'm sick of save the world stories. I want more games like the witcher 1 or Gothic where you're just in one small well fleshed out area doing something relatively mundane compared to saving the planet.

Back in the day I got annoyed when Gaider said "games like DAO won't get made anymore" but now that I'm not 15 I realize what he meant by that and he's not wrong. I think it'll be rare for RPGs with that amount of attention to detail and world building to be created. Most RPGs that come out now are either light on the lore, backstory, etc or rely on existing IPs. EG books or other games. The only serious exceptions are games like Pillars of Eternity which itself is kind of rare, being a good Kickstarter game and its sequel was ass I heard.

The Maker exists, as a corollary to the metatextual position of David Gaider (who, ironically, has now left us). Whether he exists in a form similar to Chantry dogma is another question.

Because EA has moved onto the live service model. It won't fund games it can't maintain "recurrent user sending" on. Anthem was a pathetic attempt at that and DA4 will be similar. I think BW's time is limited. Pretty much all of its games since ME2 have faced a big backlash either from fans or critics or both except for DAI which Bioware higher ups said they were personally disappointed with how that one turned out.

Anyway the nature of second party publishers is right now that they want to make all of the money possible to satisfy shareholders which can't be done in their greedy minds without putting shit in like loot boxes, premium currency, microtransactions etc. Games like DAO take years to make and are expensive, EA doesn't want to do that shit.

I would agree before DAI was a thing;I dont think the plot twist at the very end was part of his master plan (or just an overarching vague idea he had), and it in retrospect invalidates this whole theory.

Being ambitious does nothing when you're confronted with the reality of what games are being made by major publishers who have the money to fund big projects like DA. The witcher is a rare exception and is unique because CDPR also has GoG to fund it's projects. It has a level of Independence almost all independent studios lack because it has a reliable source of income outside of the games it makes.

Games writing also always comes second to game design, writers routinely have to rewrite things to fit with how a game is being made.

The biggest issue facing DA2 was by far the rushed production. It had a dev cycle of I think 13 months. They had been planning to make an expansion, EA wanted a full game in the same amount of time. I think any project leads would've fucked up with the constraints placed on them. In any game you have to cut shit or accept something for not being perfect but when you have so little time you're basically just trying to get that shit out the door in one piece.
