The others would probably be tested quicker. SR has a lot of completely optional events that can be quite difficult to get, and you almost certainly wouldn't get on the first play through.. Like Motonari is Lonely, or Souun and Natori talking about the future. Even assassinating Shingen wouldn't be easy to do. There are a lot of events spread throughout the entire game, which can be done in a non-linear fashion, that testing SR would have been a huge pain. Magnum will probably be done faster. Though hopefully they do get more testers.

All they have to do is just translate the script and run it through some mockup textbox to make sure it always aligns well, what's the point in actually playtesting every single line

The nukiges are easy to do, and don't require too much programming work to get working in English. Also, like has been noted, the stubbornly let just one programmer handle all of the Alicesoft games, which really bottlenecked the releases.

As other posters noted, I believe only 4.2 can be done like that. Pretty much every other game has at least one mandatory rape scene. Though in earlier titles there's more optional scenes, and Rance is generally always willing to jump through hoops to get his sex.
For example, in Sengoku if girl sets a condition of taking over three territories before fucking him, he'll gladly go for it.

Chances are that it will be. TakaJun's understanding of Japanese really wasn't the best when he did Sengoku, and neither was the team's understanding of the engine. Both of those should be better here, unless MG's team royally shat the bed.

Probably not. MangaGamer tried to get Rance VI on Steam, and the appid was just outright banned.
He has infinite level cap due to being bug in the system, and when he fucks somebody when they are at their cap, he can raise their cap to certain extent. Though depending on the game that's not always the case, like in Sengoku his cap only goes up to 99.

Takeda blitz is literally the hardest thing in the game not counting bullshit like Miki. 4 battles in a row against 4 of the best generals in the game commanding the best generic type units in the game. It takes a lot of work putting together a team able to counter it, especially without bonuses

Getting them is fairly simple if you know the trick. Basically:
1. Be on NG+ and have house bonus for One Eye, also pick any Alicesoft extra characters you can. Also pick Kill the Monkey.
2. Enter war with Hara as usual, but don't conquer them.
3. When you enter war with Ashikaga, only conquer the Oil Field.
4. Kill time until you can declare war on Takeda, kill and capture troops from two you're already on war with.
5. Declare war on Takeda, survive the blitz and expose Shingen.
6. From now on keep your eyes absolutely peeled during turns of other houses, and see if they hire any of the Takeda commanders. Don't take out any extra houses until you have all commanders in your prison.
7. When you see somebody being hired, save-scum to get them to show up in battle, scout and do everything else you can. Having commanders with Light Attack, Defeated Warrior Hunt and Sticky Ground is adviced. Also, the Takeda commanders can be assasinated and still captured.
The reason this works is that whenever you take out a house all commanders from it will be put into hirable pool for other houses. By only taking out Takeda you keep the pool very small, and by being at war with several houses at once, there's all the more chances for the commanders to get hired.
Also, the reason you only take One Eye bonus at beginning is that they will never hire human commanders.

Programming is actually one of the gigs that they pay well for. I know that the translator for Fata Morgana isn't taking any more TL jobs from them, but gladly does programming gigs.

No. Xavier shows up after certain number of gourds are broken, and while you can get fairly far ahead before temple event by being smart about places that you take over, there's no way to get everything done without it happening. Also, even if you take over Mouri before that, 3G won't let you declare war on Africa.
But there is a NG+ mode where he doesn't show up at all.

the hard part of the blitz isn't really holding it off, because you can just put off takeda until the end of the game in a monkey kill route and make a super army. the hardest part is taking them out while still having a lot of the houses on the map, because if you actually want to recruit their commanders you'll want there to be as few factions eliminated as possible, as every single one you take out massively increases the time it takes for the leaders to get recruited. in the end this was a team i used to do it

Yeah, but it's not worth the effort of getting there because even with optimal play getting cucked at least once is mandatory to proceed, so you have to raise a throwaway female general and then savescum so the NTR bastards swipe her and not someone great like Maria or something. You're railroaded into fighting Ashikaga and Hara first, while doing that, recruit the Mino three in the Mamushi oil field so you can get Dousan from satisfaction bonuses. Always spend satisfaction bonuses on reinforcements from Zeth unless it's the third fan. Leazas ones aren't bad, but not as good as Zeth. After Ashikaga, take out Miko Institute, then Uesugi for some great units, preferably recruit Fuuka from Oda before then. When fighting Uesugi, use Rance in every possible battle in Maso and don't accept the offer of Kenshin's uncle.

Do you have to play Rance as a rapist? I know it isn't real, but idk it still kinda bugs me, I'll try it anyway even if so, but I'd rather not play him like that if given an option.

If I had to guess, I'd bet they were planning on releasing it earlier, but after Valve announced they would let anything on the store MG saw an opportunity for big money. But then Valve pretty much backed down on that and denied Rance on the store anyway (even though there's much worse stuff on Steam now).

There's no avoiding it. But most of the rape and sex scenes are usually very silly and have a lot more levity to them than you would ever expect.

Don't fuck with Mouri, Takeda or Dokuganryuu territory unless you know what you're doing. The best commanders for your first playthrough are in Miko Institute, Uesugi and Tokugawa. Always release prisoners in batches of 5 instead of one at a time, it gets you a Rare Candy. Do your dungeons. Save often. Satisfaction bonus priority is action fans > reinforcements > literally anything else who cares. There are several events that will only happen on your very first playthrough ever, one of these will help you out if you're struggling in the endgame by propelling you straight to the final boss, so don't worry about it.

And don't read a guide.

It's one of the most devastating scenes in any game I've ever played, unlike Rance's silly rapes where the girl only says "no" for three seconds before instantly loving it and you get to listen to dadrock and everyone has a good time, your daughterfu being gangraped (to death, in one route) is played completely straight in-story, is just as awful as it sounds, and I can guarantee you will not want to fap to it. On your first playthrough you're really stuck for good foot soldiers since you aren't gonna have Teru or Yoshihisa at that point. Senhime's a huge upgrade over Maeda Toshiie for that purpose. I personally prefer Ally Guard+ over the All Guard that Senhime has, but she's always my second pick.

Dont bother with optimised unit squads. Only use the girls that are cute.

I knew a guy named Rance, once. He was cool, but kinda weird, and a total hick.

You should be fighting almost every turn anyway, the requirement is actually very easy to handle.

I've only played 6 and Sengoku, but does he really only care about Rick? Just off the top of my head I can remember him having rapport with Gandhi, Nobunaga, Katsuie and several minor commanders in Sengoku events.

I've mentioned this before, but with Rance VI we did bunch of pretty substantial improvements on original, like upping the resolution or adding WASD movement. Nothing that impressive happened with Sengoku, but there are tons of small improvements under the hood that most players won't even realize are there, like insignifigant bugs from JP version being fixed, or signifigantly improved text formatting. The programmer in the project kept doing fixes to pretty much last minute.
Also, as usual, Alicesoft had lost the UI graphic files, so I got to do whole bunch of redrawing for them. There really isn't anything as impressive as Evenicle, but there were some pretty obnoxious bits to do like all the turn changing images.

In the past I said "We'll totally have Sengoku done in Summer and Quest for Christmas!" but it's pretty clear that's not happening now. But since there's only programming left on Quest, I hope it's gonna be fairly smooth, with release early next year, and others following soon after.

The best part is that because the game has such time/turn management systems, the first time I played it I really thought it was just because I didn't bother to look for her in time as I was busy with some war. I felt legitimately terrible for my own lack of care.

There is a sense of continuity throughout the games with recurring characters (like Kanami), but they work fine as games on their own. Except for 8,9 and 10. None of which are translated.
Sengoku is even more stand alone than usual, and was a lot of people's first introduction to Rance. It's also one of the best in the series. So just play it.

It's fine as a standalone since you're a stranger in a strange land, but you meet up with old characters from Zeth and Leazus, and while they are never crucial to the story, you might feel the itch to play their games and learn who the hell they are.
That's about it.
I played Sengoku first way back when, I'm interested to replay it now that I have more context of those characters.

I think Rance is an amazing character, but he's backed up by the how well the setting is made to support him. The world is so ridiculous that even a clearly sociopath ends up seeming like a shining hero in many situations, yet despite doing so many villainous things it only rarely comes across as mean-spirited partly because of how absurd the setting is.

The Takeda blitz is very easy to handle because it only happens once every six or seven turns or so. Just focus all your strong units into one or two armies so you don't lose four territories, you can stand to lose one or two as long as you don't lose a full province, because once you conquer Takeda you get those lost areas back. You can easily finish conquering them before the first cooldown is over. The real shit is unlocking the Takeda house bonus by beating all four armies in the blitz, but that's best saved for like, NG+++.

FFA takes a lot of luck and savescumming if you play the shit factions like akashi, hara or hannies. you basically need to get lucky with defense and capturing good commanders to get the ball rolling. the one benefit hara is that their neighbours aren't as bullshit as the other weak factions.

Technically they didn't uncensor, Alicesoft just gave them the original images from before they were censored like they did with 5D/VI/Evenicle.

I'm not positive but I think the AI's top level strategy is pretty much attack randomly in FFA. Also since not every AI faction moves on every turn, you might just get lucky with none of your neighbours moving at all.

I remember one of the artists corners says he was disappointed by the mosiacs because he put a lot of effort into drawing Rance's dick in one of his CGs. He must feel proud, after over a decade very soon the whole world will see that graphic as it was intended.
