How do you do a reveal trailer for Steve without spoiling it? After the smash screen swish, you can't just cut to the pixelated world of Minecraft, that gives it away. So how do you go about making it a surprise?

Like taking place inside Duck Hunt or something? My idea was maybe a continuation of Simon's trailer, have him fighting some monsters, then the camera pans over and it's Minecraft monsters

To be fair, terry's trailer was half a give away too at a point they even showed several characters to keep the whole thing less predictable but from the neo geo intro alone you could tell it was going to be someone from snk's fighting games, if you have knowledge about them at least.

By making it take place in a Animal Crossing village that's about to get attacked by pillagers or some smash villain in place of them before Steve comes in and saves them, with the end of the trailer having them celebrating and throwing goodies out like in Minecraft

Something that looks normal at first glance, but then it zooms in and you see that it's actually built in Minecraft, just so big that it doesn't look all that blocky when you see the whole thing.

how about its a trailer that begins with any character and they're running from something and then all of a sudden they fall through a perfect square-shaped hole in the ground. they fall and hit the ground where all you can see is their eyes cartoonishly in the dark, darting back and forth in bewilderment. AND THEN, you can faintly hear the sound of Steve's pickaxe picking closer and closer before he blasts through the other side of the hole, appearing as a silhouette with the background being some Minecraft biome before he's revealed in true, flashy smashbros fashion.

Have link and kirby stuck in a cave. They are using bombs and kirbys hammer to break cobblestone but the cave is dar links domb explodes and turns out theyre standing on gravel so they both fall down towards bedrock and lava a diamond in the air from the rocks they were breaking steve builds over the lava and steals the diamond and crafts it into a smash invitation.

I said that having in mind someone that wasnt spoiled by it. If you had enough knowledge about snk and happened to be watching the trailer you wouldnt tell right away it was going to be terry but you knew it was one of the popular fighting characters. I think that if steve trailer started like isabelle's from animal crossing with just casual minecraft gameplay footage and had a twist in it, it could work.

Actually I dont think it was obvious either if you havent seen the leak. My point was that it was more expected after seeing the neo geo and snk logo, think of any of their most popular fighting game characters in case you know about them and there are many characters, you definitely wouldn't tell it's terry right away until the end of the trailer.
