>be the perfect evolution of the StarFox gameplay >good banter between the team during missions >expanded but not overbearing story >great multiplayer >Best Fox design >only real negatives being the short length/lack of branching missions like 64 >overall the best StarFox after 64 despite some jank >forever doomed to retreads of 64 because it and Command flopped
the ground controls were really bad, and the only memorable stages to me were the aparoid homeworld and the space level where you fight aparoid pigma. played it a fuck load as a kid, but going back to it a few months ago i dropped it at the dinosaur planet
Chase Parker
It is pretty much a natural progression of the series and the multiplayer was some of the best on the Gamecube. I'd kill for a modern atttempt.
We're doomed to gimmicky retreads of 64 unfortunately, unless Miyamoto fucks off and lets people just make a good Star Fox game.

StarFox will never get a sequel of this caliber again, fucking sickening.
An Assault sequel could be Nintendo's Halo/Battlefield like how Splatoon was Nintendo's CoD.
Gabriel Robinson
On foot was janky, they clearly wanted to expand playtime by adding pointless "exploration", but aside from that the game was great.
Evan Wood
>first level is good >90% of the on-foot levels / switching between levels sucked >last level is good it just needed more n64 style levels that's literally all it needed.
Gabriel Peterson
At least explain your retardation?
Isaac Peterson
You have the longest names on this board, and you're the only one with "Fox" in them.
Saying that the story is bad for the game makes no sense. It's not based on any of the games it's based on. All you have is a "Starfox" setting. The plot revolves around the war between StarFox and Arwing. In the games, that war started over a small, minor incident which ended with both fighting one another. It wasn't the first time a war broke out between characters in the same universe.
Mason Sullivan
The super auto aim means it either turns into an advanced game of screen looking with nades/rockets or a race to the landmaster the dogfighting didn't seem all that different from 64 but I only played a few sets of pure AvA
Andrew Jackson
I liked the gameplay a lot, but starting off the series at 64 and then playing Adventure I was expecting a campy as hell war with hammy as fuck characters, not "Star Fox vs the Borg ft. everyone suffering horribly".
Carson Lee
This. 64 was so good because you can replay it so many ways. Even collecting medals unlocked the "hard mode" which was like experiencing the shit all over again. An average playthrough of 64 is like an hour, but discovering all the branches and shit, especially in a pre-wide-spread internet world, was awesome. The linear approach to assault, while it made for a better "story" missed a huge part of 64's formula.

Star Fox Assault fucking sucks and I don't get how anyone can even pretend that everything in it doesn't feel like janky garbage in every mode of control.

>>478414771Nintendo really should avoid the gimmicks for one whole console generation and recapture their core audience from the nether regions of the gaming industry. The Wii, Wii U, and Switch is great for casuals and is widely accessible but it's missing the oomph that they used to have when competing with Sega. It would be as easy as pulling a direct sequel for all their franchises and lean into the designs that made them smash hits. Smash Bros Ultimate proves that they can do wonders when they literally give it their all. I find myself replaying their old titles and wondering what happened. The best part about growing up playing their games was wondering what came next..

I will never understand why Nintendo seems to absolutely hate the idea of on-rails stages after 64. Assault had 3 if I remember, Command had none, Zero was fucking dogshit and even if it had an on-rails segment all of the bosses were all-range anyway.
Charles Ward
>Story was short >No Branching paths so there was no need to ever replay it because it's a linear story That alone is why no one cares too much about it
