It's a peripheral. I don't feel shit.

What does the code button do?
Obviously its codes you dumb fuck
ooo it's cute i want it
Mechanical keyboards are great as long as they're full keyboards and not memes like in the OP.
>no Doug button
They're inconsequential for gaming purposes, and their main utility is for typing. The best way to play most PC games is using a keypad designed for it, as it's more ergonomic and and allows you access to macro keys that are harder to reach on a regular keyboard.
They’re fine. It’s a personal preference. Get a switch sample kit to see if you like the feel of them, if not membrane keyboards are fine and cheep to replace.
I just got one, and it's pretty neat.
Nice contrast to the soft keys I'm used to.
I just use a 10$ keyboard I got off amazon, I don't see how it could be improved
orbweaver is the best great taste
its pretty hard to use
Well, as this user said, meme keyboards existed since the 80's, ibm was waaaay ahead of its time.
Reminder mechanical keyboards have higher input latency due to actuation distance. Don't buy into the meme.
If the made one of these with a thumb stick I'd be sold. Every one I've seen just has some weird dpad thing which doesn't make any sense.
Most switches are bad memes. Buckling springs are the real deal, though.
They make the most annoying sound I've ever heard in my life.
Reminder that this is irrelevant when you type properly and not like a limp wristed faggot afraid to wake up his bull.
What's the easier way to get an orthogonal keyboard?
Man that looks awesome. How much is it?
This I do a lot of typing so I use cherry blues and greens. But I actually game on my old beaten up G13. I wish they didn't stop making them, or they gave me warning so I could create a stockpile.
G13 has a thumbstick. I think it works great in some games. But a dpad is more versatile.
why don't you faggots like numpads and command keys?
If you're lucky enough to find one in decent (working) condition, it'll likely be 1000 dollars. But that's only because that model is super rare.
You'll have to settle for a regular model and they go for 20-300 dollars depending on the seller. Or just wait until Unicomp starts making them again.
bc the top row has number keys?
I value additional space over the numpad, although I do like the numpad.
Wrong
Clean your keyboard, user. I see the grime and dust collecting under the keycaps.
ill get around to it tomorrow
I have a full and a 60%. It's the same shit really just 60% looks cooler.
You broke my neck, user.
I prefer them for the noise and feel they provide due to growing up with them. I don’t notice a difference in performance or productivity it just like it more.
Codes
This actually looks like it would be good for flight games.
Having only seen them online, I honestly have no idea how you're actually supposed to use these things.
I like them. Especially nice in precision platformers due to their consistent linear resistance, but I guess it depends on the switches used.
Not enough keys for me. Picture related.
Shit I was actually thinking about using it for elite dangerous.
I was so used to these i would genuinely hurt my fingers with a laptop because of how hard i would press the keys for a while
Why spend more money for something functionally the same as regular keyboards? So I can have a noisier keyboard?
It dougs.
Mechanical keyboards are more comfortable to use, and far more durable.
>no arrow keys
Whenever i see mech keyboards like this, i'm instantly reminded of last year's incident.
>Work as an IT Guy in office.
>do mostly shitty IT stuff (cmd chkdsk, google solutions, install programs, etc etc)
>some new young kid joins in.
>set up his email, password
>finally get him settled infront of his cubicle and computer.
>suddenly whips out his epic Gamer™ RGB custom mechanical keyboard
>Pushes aside perfectly fine office keyboard
>and plugs in his mech keyboard on another usb slot.
>"uh....."
>Gives me shit eating smug look
>Decide to just ignore it
>Get his stuff email setup.
>Starts asking stupid questions like "Oh so how much ram does this computer have? CAUSE LOL MY GAMING RIG HAS 32 GIG OF RAM, WOW ONLY 8GB THAT'S SO SHIT"
>Keeps bragging about his gaming rig and how he's able to stream and play high end graphics games. (apparently he's rich or whatever)
>Occasionally see him after that whenever theres an IT related issue.
>Always made sure to go out of my way not to use his mech keyboard.
>One day he gets fired out of nowhere with only less than 3 months on the job.
>No farewell party, No hint, nothing.
>Find out he's been neglecting work and passing it to the other team
>Hear from some of the other office jockies that he's alway seen reading mangas and comics.
>Find tons of "letters to celestia" word files on his desktop (apparently he's a brony or some shit)
>Later some office jockie found out he has a stream on twitch, its all minecraft shit (he bought a blue yeti just to yell at kids)
>Later found out he has a deviantart full of plushies he wraps with diapers.
>The last straw was when he tried to get an old timer fired because he thought the old dude wasn't working hard enough. (he was actually 1 week from retirement, and he was close to the owner of the company). So in response he got fired.
I always thought this kind of shit was secluded to 'murica, didn't think i'd find degeneracy so close.

My doctor, when I was a kid, had some toys she never switched since the 90's in her office. One of them was a keyboard. And it had faceless colorful keys that in my adult life I see only in mechanical keyboards discussions. I can't help but see these miniature keyboards with their stupid key caps as toys.
On the practical side, I haven't tried the different switched, so I don't have a preference yet. I'm doing very well with cheap rubber dome keyboards in the meanwhile.
Ghosting is also generally much less of an issue than membrane keyboards since you're already spending more on it they go the extra mile and design them better to not do this, especially gaming keyboards.
I don't know why this is even a thing anymore though, we don't use the old ps/2 port anymore.
Surely USB ports must be advanced enough by now to handle a virtually unlimited amount of buttons with no problems.
ghosting has nothing to do with ps/2 or usb, and everything to do with the sensing mechanism, which in the case of keyboards is either a PCB or a membrane. in the former case it could be due to damage, bad solder joints, a bad model, etc. and in the latter case it's usually due to shitty traces or water / dirt / dust damage.
also mechanical keyboards can have membranes, and rubber domes can have PCB's, i suggest you watch this video:

CHERRY BROWNS NIGGA SUCK MY DICK.
So you’re telling me by using one my fingers need to be faster to make up for it?
Fuck yeah weighted armor
>we don't use the old ps/2 port anymore.
speak for yourself pal
Overpriced shit for trendy hipsters.
just get a cheap chinese clone bro

Used reds and browns for some years but they broke, just using a mesh now and can't be bothered to get a new one
>mechanical keyboards
Obsolete
As a surface user, these keyboards are shit.
anything as small as a cotton string snags on these, it'll rip the key right out and damage it permanently.
the thing i don't like about small tiny keyboards like these is that the short travel and requirement to bottom out makes it fairly tiring on the hands
mechanical keyboards offer the ability for part way actuation, which means you don't have to bottom out, and that makes for a much more relaxing typing experience
also those keyboards tend to be huge fingerprint magnets
I've been using a tenkeyless Cherry MX red keyboard for 7 years. Then I switched to an RGB keyboard.
I like mine, but honestly I don't think it matters too much. I like my switch because I have always hit the keys a bit too hard.
These however sometimes cramp my hands, and I don't like the feel of them
Shit's noisier than my neighbor who's a drummer.
My block is so fucking quiet at 3AM that you should be able to hear it while passing in front of my house
for me, it's the logitech k120
I have used a mechanical on everything but my laptops for all my life so I barely know how any other keyboard feels.
I like them though, the buttons are responsive enough and it feels satisfying to use one. Mine is a fucking ten year old office keyboard (used to have an office mouse too) but it keeps living so I have no reason to replace it.
>tfw my WASD keys are completely worn down and deformed on my k120 after years of abuse
>deformed
more like battle scars.
I like them. Don't really think it matters for muh vidya, but I write alot and it just feels / sounds great.
They look microwaved. theyre not even square anymore
Post pics faget
how the fuck do you write on this? And, if you do succeed in writing with this with your two hands, how do you avoid turning your hands into fucking deformed claws after typing with this?
Guess which key this is
Either D or W.
f4 from ragequitting
Little girl hands maybe
Not him but I only have a 60% keyboard and I wish I had both. I like playing games like mount and blade and having to use the alt key to use my F keys is a pain at time. Also just for general use I think having a full keyboard would be more useful, especially since I have to do a lot of number crunching on excel and whatnot.
it's the windows key
looks like my d key so gonna say that
It's a meme, just like gaming mouses, gaming headsets, gaming monitors.
*gaming mice, the fuck is wrong with me
They're perfectly fine and durable. I've had my cooler master one for years and it feels the same as day one. It wasn't even that expensive, no RGB or colored keys, just a standard keyboard with cherry reds.
But meme ones like OP give them a bad name.
