Though it is nice that Kushala, being my first ED in the series way back in F2, is the monster that finally made my save break the 200 hours.

He ended up getting tripped constantly by the end whether from getting jabbed in the jaw one time too many or from his delicate feet when airborne, which wasn't that great when he pulled his 1000 IQ traps where he places himself so that when he is tripped his head thrashing me pushes me against a tornado and leaves me unable to do anything until he gets up.

Overall it is good to be done. Now on to Teostra with no Heat Guard, which I don't have.

Longsword is the most popular weapon in the game. It's easy to use for newbies, yet has a high skill cap with lots of crazy stunts you can pull off. It's a fine choice.
But something cool about MH is that you can change what weapon you're using at any time. There are no level ups or character skill trees to tie you to a weapon type, only what equipment you're willing to make. Though it'd be a good idea to test out every weapon type, don't be afraid of making a "wrong" choice in what you settle on for your first.

It's taking like 90 seconds to download and a half hour to upload your saves to the cloud before applying the patch or something.

some people don't like palicos and that's fine but they gives lots of nice bonuses and can even help you to carve rare itmes

LBG is more a weapon when you not only pick the biggest dps you have to look the ones that also have access to good status shots (poison/para/sleep/exhaust)

is all on the weapons, the armor don't impede movement, in fact with teh right skill (evade) you can actually improve your movement

the super critical distance of the scope with spread ammo is the same distance that you’re already standing at before while using it. all it does is give you motion sickness from having to look through a tiny fov that’s also blurred out to look like you’re squinting though a scope. it’s an awful way to play the game but 30% damage is just too good to pass up

entirely doable, the only thing you'll miss out on is extreme behemoth and kulve taroth, since those quests are designed for multiplayer.

Do the quests for your room cat, it should be from an acid glav captire quest

I'm bad at monster hunter and I soloed 95% of the game's content

cant help you with the gun related stuff but armor does not effect your movement, there are armor skills that increase your dodge distance but thats about it

you should do the rest of the quest chain as it rewards a NEB/Bludgoner, Elderseal/Adrenaline and Guts charm. all of which are very good to have.

They tripled the stun values on your moves or some shit, you can chain ko's on some monsters completely ignoring their mechanics.

Heal station has the one time revive and flash fly cage has a new bomb trap. They set it, a monster steps on it, and it explodes. Seems to guarantee a flinch as well. At 15, they add the ability to do the third ones on command for all the gadgets except the revive obviously. That one just gets increase effectiveness which I guess means you stand back up with more of your hp.

is secret slugger worth it? seems like overkill, plus you have to commit to a lousy armor set

I think I would've liked it more if it didn't feel like I was retreading a lot of the same ground. I basically have to refarm a lot of of the same monsters so I can get all the new gear/weapons/upgrades so that I can farm all the old/new monsters more efficiently.

I made the Acid Glavenus CB on a whim because it looked neat despite never playing CB before in any of the games. Any advice? Normally I'm a funlance guy, but so far this weapon is a lot of fun too.

charged up sword is just nice to have at some times, it's not something you need 100% uptime on like the buffed up shield

when you buff your sword it also deals low phial damage meaning if you have impact damage your sword hits deal slightly more damage and can now stun, similar with elemental CB is just deal more damage which can be quite a lot depending on your element and monsters hitzone
also the attack which charges up your sword does decent damage so it's not like you're wasting too much time

The small amounts of phial damage from the charged sword add up over the course of the hunt, but they also give you natural Mind’s Eye while in sword form so none of your attacks will bounce. This doesn’t extend to Savage Axe mode unfortunately but only your over and under head swings bounce in that mode anyway. It’s invaluable against small or fast monsters too. I guess it depends on what monster you’re fighting whether it’s worth using, Charge Blade has a lot of options and applications if you’re willing to learn them. One of the most versatile weapons as long as you don’t rely on SAED too much.

The reason it’s delayed is because the MH team want to do the port themselves to learn how to dev for PC. The base game was 8 months delayed and Iceborne only 4, so they’re learning. Hopefully with MH6 it’ll release on all platforms simultaneously.

Not to disparage the Lance at all, but there's a reason it's called the Fun Lance.

burst slaplance has a lot more theoretical DPS because wyrmstake shot more than doubles the damage on each burst, but since so many IB monsters are complete sperglords that never stop moving it can be a bit hard at times to get your bursts, slaps, and wyrmstakes in.

I always wrote it off as gimmicky, plus I thought the movement was awkward. I probably wouldn't play it in pre-world games though.

SAED doesn't do as much in damage anymore so if you go for it optimal you'll want to hit with the axe and all your phials, plus if a monster interrupts doing the animation you'll lose all your phials

Phials are consumed earlier in the animation so if you get hit early you might get the animation cancelled and phials wasted

Infinitely more important than defensive ones.

Depends on your playstyle and what you like. Offensive stuff will probably let you clear hunts faster, and some people would argue that makes you need defense less since there's less time for you to get hit if you kill the monster faster. On top of that, some offensive skills are able to control and impede the monster, which makes it so you can't get hit. But some people prefer defense and being able to more easily handle mistakes or whatever.

play however you want, they help a lot but are pointless if you die repeatedly

It depends on how good you are. The better you are at avoiding damage, roars, and general hazards with nothing but your basic movement and i-frames, the less mileage you'll get out of defensive skills. You're not a speedrunner, there's no shame in sacrificing some damage for a more comfortable hunt, but do consider trying sets geared more offensively and figuring out what level of defensive support is right for you.

Yukumo has the most sidequests, and the people there aren't even nice to you. They don't ask you to do the thing. They obligate you to do it.

Palicos themselves do little damage, but take some monster aggro - this can give you breathing room in the middle of a fight, but makes it harder to predict monsters attacks and movements.

Palico gadgets are extremely useful when leveled up. Best picks are the one that heals you, the one that steals monster parts (you get an additional 5 parts or so every hunt at max level, which is huge when farming), and the bomber one.

No mention of the Coral Orchestra? I'm surprised.
It's also worth mentioning that due to Palicoes' pitiful damage their weapons are best set to elemental. More than once I've had my Palico blow up the monster with blast for a nice little 120 bonus damage.

So how the fuck are you meant to hunt monsters that are in the air for 90% of the quest? Is it actually by design that they want those hunts to last 30+ minutes even at endgame?

I remember him being a respectable fight in Freedom 2. Just bring a good source of poison, I remember using the Primal Spear, and his wind shield was fucked for quite some time.
The issue here is that that one weakness doesn't affect his wind anymore, and I'm unsure on whether Elderseal does, but this incarnation does feel way more annoying.

He's a flagship so we're stuck with him forever, i do agree that he needs a rework tho.

Hard jewels that have more than two points are only for a handful of defensive/utility skills you don't ever really need, so it isn't that bad. Offensive/"meta" skills are generally paired with defensive/utility skills, so you don't have to worry about them hamstringing your set building ability much. There's no such thing as Weakness Exploit/Attack Boost or Artillery/Guard or Critical Eye/Critical Boost or anything like that.

Offensive Guard is like the only good skill that can be found paired with other good skills, and very few weapons can use it well. Constitution/Stamina Surge might be good for Bow, but I don't know if you'd ever desperately that combination, the best armor pieces are swimming in slots to begin with.

Kushala did nothing wrong. He's a good boy.

meant for the first quote to be Offensive Guard boosts attack by a percentage. That's really good, because most attack-boosting skills and buffs just add a small flat rate (that is then boosted by a percentage via critical damage to make it meaningful). The caveat is that the boost is very brief, so you're unlikely to get much out of it for a lot weapon like Great Sword or with Gunlance because shells are unaffected by the boost, but for Lance, which can counter poke or guard dash, or Charge Blade, which can guard point into SAED, it's great.

I don't know, MR Kushala is already much much better than the regular and AT versions. His tornado area denial was reduced, and he spams the shit out of the move that grounds him from midair.

You never know, a quirk in how the game is designed could make the attack that is nullified to trigger the counter to be considered a block.

It only stays up for 12 seconds. You'd have to be really lucky or really good to be able to guard an attack and land TCS before it wears off, you'd also have to invest in guard skills to mitigate blockstun so you don't waste too much of its uptime. I wouldn't advise using it with GS.

Nah, F that. The dual skill jewels are actually much better than the 2 and 3 point ones. They're making custom sets MUCH more flexible and deco grind more forgiving. Instead of HAVING to fit single slot gems into specific slots you can put any kind of gem combinations, as long as the sum of the skill points is the same.
That said, hard decos seem to be straight upgrades, because they offer MORE skill points in the same number of slots, but they make custom set tailoring more rigid.

I don't think it's very good for GS or SnS because while those weapons CAN block, blocking is usually a last resort for them, while for lance or CB blocking in an inevitability so they benefit more from it

Brachy but ice themed. He can make wall of ice like Velkhana when he hits the ground but like the slime it isn't instant unless he's enraged. Also the ice is just barely distinguishable from the snow and ice surrounding him on the map and inflicts you with blight before going off just because fuck you.

I don't dislike elderseal as a concept, because it's basically a step in the direction of allowing the hunters to inflict elemental blights on the monsters.
But I miss the three ED armor sets countering each other like rock paper scissors with Chameleos > Kushala > Teo. Okay, maybe not RPS, because Teo doesn't give you poison immunity. But now the skills you need to counter an elder's gimmick come from their own set, which you can't get before killing them without the counters.

A Brachydios subspecies without slime producing organs. Their horn and fists are hollow, and by hitting them just the right way against the ground they can generate sound and air blasts from the air inside the slime cavities being forced out at high speeds. They lose out on the slime gimmick entirely but gain tons of new fist based attacks and can shoot pressurised air at hunters. I imagine they live in cold, mountainous regions compared to the normal species living in hot, volcanic regions.

It's not like you're ever going to run out of inbentory space, realistically speaking, but sure, ho ahead.

Earplugs is awesome, ever since I crafted Beotodus for my first MR set and found out the convenience, I make a point to slot Earplugs all the time, it's so comfy not to have my Spirit Combos or Helm Splitters interrupted when monsters decide to randomly roar or to be able to move around when 3 monsters gather in the same area screeching constantly
