yeah actually i played this a lot at the hospital when i was a kid, i was there because my brother had been diagnosed with diabetes so while they took his blood and stuff i would play this
one night my brother went into epileptic shock so we went with him to the hospital, so my parents and i slept there and i played mario while we waited and that was the last time i played it

I'll never forget it.
One day out of nowhere my dad came home from work and woke me up and presented me with a yellow GameBoy Pocket with Super Mario Land and a matching yellow GameBoy Camera.

It's a very fond memory. The overworld theme gives me the feels. I should hang out with my dad more.

You should user. My dad loved Mario and video games in general and I also have many fond memories of playing NES and SNES with him. Cancer got him when I was 19 so those memories mean a lot to me.

It was one of the first games I've ever played. I could never beat it as a child but i think it's pretty easy now. I think they could have been a bit more generous when it comes to continues, or have a password feature.

My dad got me into games, and this was one of the titles he gave me I believe. Too bad he became a lame boomer later on and started to dislike the fact that I was still into them. I'm sure he thought it was just a phase that would pass in adulthood.

Still love him and wish he was around. He died of a heartattack when I was 17. So yeah, all this stuff means a lot to me as well, even if it ultimately meant nothing to him after a certain point.

It's a good game but Land 2 and every Wario Land game is better.
Except DK'94 did that by introducing the modern Pauline design. On that note, DK'94 is probably better than any Land game but I could see arguments for Wario Land II & Wario Land 4.

I get why R&D1 hated making games for Mario, but the Land series are exactly what Mario needs today. Odyssey is only a step in the right direction.

I think Mario just needs to step out of it's repetitive world and design choices. Like even a space-themed world would be unique for a 2D game, and I know Mario's a hard character to play with artistically but some kind of fresh art choices would make a difference.

Three's a crowd. Super Mario Land 2 is my absolute favorite Mario platformer for how many cool things it added, things even the big budget Mario titles never explored. Wario should also play a role again in some Mario titles just to get some of that bizarre shit that's commonplace in Wario Land titles again. Mario vs. Donkey Kong sucks dick, they don't even try to use both the series to their fullest, imagine a mix of DKC and Super Mario.

DK'94 has insane movement mechanics for a GameBoy game, it was definitely a proof of concept for 64's movement. The level design is also immaculate, and the music is really strong in the sense that it's good without fucking with your thought process (until the final boss where it fucking kicks ass). It's legitimately Miyamoto's best game.

Hey my dad was an alcoholic and died, but we didnt get along in life, we'd play NES and SNES. Best times we had actually. I loud ugly cried when we cleaned his house and he had the original boxes and games for both systems. Framed the snes box poster in my game room.

Pretty cool game, neat settings, new mechanics not seen in past or future Mario's, not too long. Shame the physics are a little wonky. It feels like you're magnetized to the ground sometimes.
