How can you consider this a 10/10 when the music is objectively by any measure not on par with the great classics such as Chrono Trigger (or Chross), Donkey Kong Country 2 (or any DKC game, really), Megaman X (or any Megaman game really), Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (or any Castlevania game, really), Final Fantasy IX (or any FF), Sonic 2 (or any Sanic), etc.

Did we really?

>that music when you first ride the elevator down to brinstar jungle
>upper norfair
>Samus' theme
sorry you have shit taste

Yeah, who could ever forget these classics?

Super Metroid has phenomenal music you absolute cunt.

This video doesn't help my point since it's a fan made remix, but I listened to it recently, so enjoy:

By modern standards Super Metroid has 10/10 music,by retro standards 8/10.

Brinstar Greens is just as memorable as any track in DKC2 or Chrono Trigger

How is Super Metroid overrated? Its pretty well-designed. Has some flaws but what game doesnt? Also, not that I think its worth docking your score of a game for music, it's not supposed to have insane memorable melodies like those. Its supposed to be atmospheric, droning, and help set a mood for whatever region of the map youre in.

>music
used for ambiance and to great effect
>Chrono Trigger (or Chross), Donkey Kong Country 2 (or any DKC game, really), Megaman X (or any Megaman game really), Final Fantasy IX (or any FF), Sonic 2 (or any Sanic), etc.
different genres
>Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
arguably has some of the best music ever, and gameplay akin to SM hence Metroidvania

>memorable tunes == good
>catchy tunes == good
>imfuckingplying
1986.
Game music was becoming a big thing back when the first metroid was being made, and all the composers were chasing the charts with pop music soundtracks.
This motherfucker said "fuck all that shit, imma make something that actually fits the goddamn game".
So he made something that blurred the line between music and background noise, and filtered out all the plebians.
The end.

fucking brainlets who can't understand the concept of atmospheric ambient music

Yeah videogame music should be boring else moviefags and ADD people might be triggered by it.

Red Brinstar, underwater Maridia, upper Norfair, and the Wrecked Ship are all phenomenal tracks you uncultured swine. Songs from games like Megaman or Sonic wouldn't fit with Metroid's genre at all. Metroid is a slow (fuck off speedrunners), methodical exploration game with a huge interconnected world, not individual levels. Hearing Green Hill Zone or Spark Mandrill for an extended period of time while you try to figure out where the next power up is or figuring out the puzzle needed to get the power up would be grating as fuck.

Personally I prefer the Red Area music.

The same threads cycle this dump every day, all day. You are the most unoriginal, vapid, shallow, basic people on the internet 90% of the time. Preemptive apology to the few of you that don't fit that designation.

stop crying its a good game not the best but i had fun last time i played it

You know, I might be dead inside now but the Baby Metroid sacrificing itself to save your life still gives me feels.

atmospheric music/sounds/ambiance is all in the same category in a situation like this. (but not if measured against eachother)

the sound in the game is both fine, and better than fine.

i may not ever look up its music, and listen to it, but it delivers the perfect soundtrack for what it aims to do.

though im biased, and prefer actual catchy toons, which only older games seem to do, and modern games focus on the more ambiance soundtrack style of music.

but im still capable of recognizing why it works, and why its still good, even if i have a different preference.

>being this delusional

SotN has great ambient music that is actually pleasant to listen to, unlike the literal feces in the form of soundwaves that is the Super Metroid soundtrack

>it’s supposed to be shit, that’s why it’s great

OP BTFO

Such a great soundtrack.

its super overrated because a lot of people call it the best snes game

>can't even spell plebeian

Not a 10/10 game but it is definitely on par with other classics. DKC2 is the only game you listed from the exact same time period that BTFOs super metroid

>tfw Red Soil music is one of the MOST atmospheric songs in ANY game
How can OP be such a fucking faggot?
