Literally all I want to do is see a list of my games sorted by last played and grouped by category and you can't do that, come the fuck on valve

Attached: why.jpg (496x847, 62K)

wow I can't wait for all the epic memesters to post their shelves full of funni pics and laffs while asking anons to try and guess what games are there
just look at my lazy abomination

Friendly reminder to wait for a week or two til you try the beta. Let all the other chumps suffer through the first iterationa of it.

So, where does one get some high quality cover art for their steam games?

I opted in and then opted out three minutes later. I'm not changing the artwork for games to be vertical when most devs haven't bothered either.

What's the point of vertical images on a desktop computer with a horizontal orientation? Text will appear significantly smaller and most Steam-only games have art optimized for their specific size. Am I missing a benefit from an UX point of view?

>all I want to do is see a list of my games sorted by last played
>grouped by category
>you can't do that
what the fuck are you even talking about
the new UI lets you do all of that

Attached: ss+(2019-09-17+at+04.01.49).png (771x317, 51K)

this shit unironically sucks. I had the faintest that hope that even though they were forcing this god-awful layout where the same games get listed 2 or 3 times on ONE screen they would at least be getting rid of some of the bloat. But this is Valve, so of course it didn't happen. They're still pushing this "social media feed" junk. Every time you click on a game now instead of actual shit about the game itself you get a huge ass box telling you to post about it to your "activity feed" and tell everyone what you think and showing off trading card bullshit. Of course, right below that is community content and posts so I can see some random post "help how do i beat boss :(" for the hundredth time. Fucking hell, Valve. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Attached: 1416686848874.png (674x670, 876K)

Isn't that what we're doing now? I already have a list of games I want to update the cover for. Steadily working my way through them.

Post em.

Attached: v-vidyagaemz.png (214x211, 90K)

You can't and your image doesn't show otherwise

but dude don't you want to see the ~epic memes~ people are posting about YOUR favorite video game??

thecoverproject.net/index.php

What are some other good sites to hound for game covers lads?

They're literally sorted by last played and can be filtered by category
are you trying to troll me

Yes, but is there somewhere that hosts cover art?

I like that it shows a more detailed achievement list and card collection. Nice to see those up-front instead of being buried in other pages.

Being able to search and filter my own library is great. I have so many games I forget what I actually have and I've already been re-introduced to some when I was searching specific genres.

It's an unfinished mess, reverted back in less than 5 minutes.

Oh fuck off obviously I meant my custom tagged categories

???

>"what's new" panel isn't sorted chronologically

Attached: 1533155604279.jpg (341x500, 42K)

as a graphic designer this physically hurts me beyond the experience of a regular user

how could they fuck up such simple concepts such as "if you make shit bigger then you get less information shown on screen" or "vertical covers have literally never been good for a digital interface"

Attached: you are afraid.jpg (500x473, 116K)

after my initial tantrum, I have started to enjoy it a little, just because I find the categories a very interesting feature
other than this, it is such a mess
really bad performance
some odd design decisions like having an ALL list and a categorized list separated, and having the grid and the detailed view into the same window, which is kind of retarded, because the selected stuff on the left is not on the right half the time
also, if you search for something the results appear in the list view, but not in the grid view, so it is pretty much stupid

Wait, can't forget that even though Steam is a PC platform and has it's own separate "console" view for people playing on a TV with a controller, they STILL super-sized all the buttons and interface elements to make it more console-like. What is even the point?

Why can't I make collection that does NOT contain a certain tag?
I want to make a collection for strategy games but like 50 rpgs are categorized as strategy games, and I already have a collection for those.

In general I like the update but this one thing seems so basic am I just a fucking retard that is not seeing how to do it?

You're either just retarded or a troll.

Attached: ss+(2019-09-17+at+04.07.06).jpg (217x355, 25K)

>Have you tried it?
no and i dont care because i use small mode since i just play video games.

>low performance
>low bandwidth
Anything I'm missing Yea Forums? Smallmode is gone so I want to at least go back to something comfier.

>enable low bandwidth mode
>all the community shit disappears
Imagine not being retarded.

Now try sorting it by recent activity and watch in awe as they get grouped by when you played them even though that's checked

like 30 f2p games i've played once or twice have been added to my library, annoying
the categories system is cool but i wish you could add more tags straight from the store beyond the 8 or so basic ones they have right now
its an improvement for sure tho

I also had bad performance, and I checked the interface tab in settings and there seems to be new hardware acceleration options that made everything perform much better

I dislike it, it's awful.

I rather use the epic fail store

>have to lie about your internet connection to get rid of pointless bullshit
hello valve community manager, thank you for stopping by our humble ""web forum"".

Yeah, every thing you have ever downloaded is now a part of your library and collection now. Categories already existed, you just right clicked on things to add them before. Now you have to click to a different screen to add them.

>i use small mode
Not for much longer.

Attached: 1544440481912.jpg (225x224, 8K)

the tag system could work if you could both add or subtract from a set of results, but not just add
also half the tags on steam are retarded after they censored them
a lot of shitty games include the horror tag just because it is le funny

basically, the ALL category should go along the other filtered categories
you should have the possibility to add search terms to categories, so that if I want to have a Batman category, I could add an auto category with the search "batman", and not just the platform meme tags
also, let me add or remove tags from the category, aka I want survival horror AND ! le funny
also support franchises, using the devs info used in their respective communities
also support publishers as tags the same way, so you can have Capcom automatic category

Attached: file.png (779x679, 543K)

Set the library item size to small.

it's fucking awesome, I love it. Best feature Steam ever made and it definitely makes it once again worlds better than the not epic store xD

igdb.com/discover

neat
thank you, lad

I pulled this from google images and even this is better than what Steam has. It's just a list of video games that you own. That's it. That's all a video game launcher needs to show you, not some twitter-clone "feed" of content to maximize engagement metrics.

Attached: eBofscni6XAhJ5tofjvwLJ-1200-80.jpg (1200x674, 49K)

>i wish you could add more tags straight from the store beyond the 8 or so basic ones they have right now
There's a search field literally called "store tags" where you can do just that.

>got rid of comfy old chat menu
>getting rid of my already sorted games and replacing it with visual bullshit
All I want is some minimalistic name list and a chat menu that doesn't have fucking emojis embedded into it.
Fuck you, Valve

>maximize engagement
The fiends, trying to get us to play the video games we already paid for.

>instead of reading not-too-dense titles with a nice graphic for each entry I now have to either read a tiny list with favicons or parse huge fucking boxart

Attached: this sucks.jpg (500x278, 10K)

You know the lack of consistency in game cover art size bothered me a bit but it's nothing I can't deal with thanks to custom artwork. But can anyone tell me why fucking Life is Strange shows up in my library? I never played this game, I never installed this game, I even have it set as "ignored" on the Store, so why is this shit sitting in my library? And this isn't about me being able to hide it, I know I can do that and I have, I want to know why I had to do it in the first place

Attached: 1567876802902.png (501x503, 217K)

exactly this, I liked the layout steam had before, it felt good and not bloated, this shit they are trying to pull now is absolutely pathetic.

So sad, I don't want this fucking feed shit, I want to play a video game and I want to have my hours counted, not more.

What a time to be alive

The old version didn't let you either because last played is treated as a category.
This one can both sort and filter results on things more than just title strings.
I don't know why you're complaining about the lack of a feature that wasn't there to begin with.

I forgot
let me remove the community section entirely, not just the "push to load" button... that shit is taking a lot of empty space
basically let me arrange the different modules the way I find suitable

Attached: file.png (829x942, 771K)

>New Vegas on there twice

that's fucking retarded
also where the fuck is that option, I can't find shit in here
this is the exact opposite of "intuitive"

>activity feed
>playing games
It's literally a twitter feed. It's the exact opposite of video games you dunce. The video games are already there.

>The old version didn't let you either
Wow that's pretty fucking wild since I'd been doing it for like 10 years with the list view that they removed

You guys have any news on GOG Galaxy 2.0?

I am really looking forward to this one, from the screenshots I saw it looked decent and like a real alternative to all this shit

Attached: gog-galaxy-20_6069792.jpg (1251x810, 120K)

>settings
>library
it's pretty "intuitive" for someone who isn't retarded yes

nice

I just found it, not only does it not do SHIT, setting things to Small size only affects the right hand content, not the list itself

I'm in the beta, haven't been using it since it was worse than Steam but once this shit goes live I'll probably start.

reminds me of old game cases

also why the fuck is "home" section gray and the other sections blue? is this some kind of autism test?

Attached: file.png (1081x751, 606K)

Probably from a free demo. Even free games that were delisted or taken down are showing up. I have listings from games that went down years ago and aren't even available in the store anymore (that f2p GiTS game I tried for a weekend). They're totally unplayable and uninstallable of course, but now I get a useless oversized thumbnail taking up space in my library now.

I'm not in the Alpha but it looks really nice. I'm using Playnite until I get in.

I'm sorry, how is this any better?

It's good but I don't really use any other stores aside from Steam and GOG so Galaxy is less of a priority for me.

new bad
old good

It's the mobile friendly meme.

Honest to god I don't give a fuck about this change

You need to open another page for it to take effect, fagtron

it doesn't fucking word, retard

you know what does work, thought? right clicking every element and removing it individually
if you can't hide it by default i honest to god hope they at least add a DELETE ALL button at some point

They're trying real hard to cater to the devs who bitch their game isn't selling due to "exposure" when that's not why anyone is touching trash

It just looks so cluttered. We should just have the option to go back to any old layout.

Attached: steam library.jpg (1024x960, 115K)

>Add new shelf

>pressing the arrow on a shelf doesn't actually hide the shelf, it minimizes it to a single row, you have to remove the shelf and add it back again if you want to hide it from view

HNNNNNNGGGHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHH

They're improving it but its far from being the ultimate launcher right now since you still need to have other launchers running in the background to launch/update games and only the GOG friends list is available

It does automatically add your achievements and playtime from other platforms which is nice I guess

>list
I don't want to look at a big left-to-right clusterfuck of box art

the Home customization is really good
I would love to remove the first to rows, though
you can put the categories in there, too, which is really nice

I'll accept it if it means that Steam can better integrate its less used and not so respected game features
They're already ahead of Epic, but maybe this is to compete with discord? I'm not sure.

Attached: 1512443985506.jpg (483x589, 78K)

Can I just set it to normal list view? I don't care about all the meme shit

Discord got rid of their games

What's the matter? You don't like the sick new webgl animation that plays every time you hover over a cover? user, the designers they hired from San Francisco worked so hard to build it in Electron for you!

Can anyone give me an actual non-meme answer about the pros and cons of the update?

it has choppy scrolling, I can't choose a banner only mode and it lacks the customization i wanted.

Valve needs to develop a new client because using steam feels fucking slow

It's shit. Bring back the green boxes.

Discord still works as an all-in-one launcher that people use to launch games from other stores and see what friends are playing though. Ironically, it's a much better one because it's literally just a list of games you've played with zero bullshit tacked on to the side. I guess because they know you're already there to talk to your friends there's no need to tack on an endless social media feed beneath every game.

>Discord still works as an all-in-one launcher that people use to launch games from other stores and see what friends are playing though
No one does that. Group chat and VOIP are the only shit people care about.

I mean, there is plenty of eye candy here, but the performance is quite bad when scrolling the cover list

Attached: file.png (414x373, 106K)

>add new shelf
>sort by last played

It's pretty fucking rough around the edges but as long as it's a beta and they actually improve upon it, I can see it being pretty good.

...

Kinda laggy because of the artwork not being on the actual computer but rather being online pictures like a store page so it needs to download them and load them up. Easy way of fixing that is to have one downloaded along with the game so that way it wouldn't have to load it up. Oh, and the Recent shelf is shit.

Other than that, it's fine to me.

Attached: 1448314307678.jpg (930x930, 89K)

I didn't say people did it, I just don't think it's surprising that Steam would do this to try and compete. They're already trying to compete with Epic by badly aping their storefront appearance so it wouldn't be surprising. They should just focus on what they're good instead of messing up things that already work fine for everyone. Literally nobody complained about Steam's library appearance.

News to me. That makes a lot of sense, but mostly my point is about a community focused UI that connects the games more to the discussion pages
Personally I think it looks "better" in the sense that Discord has had a more modern UI that Valve has obviously been trying to imitate. I think it's probably a good thing for live streaming and game discussion, or at least it might be what prevents them from dying entirely. I suspect that Valve is trying to do what everybody else does but all in one place, and this is a solid step toward that. I'm not sure if it will work, but I might be able to get used to it.

Why is western UI and webdesign so shit this decade?
Look up Yahoo.jp and Yahoo.com.
I don't want giant pictures and buttons as if I am a toddler.
Just put writing on the screen with maybe an image header.

Attached: yahoo_compare.png (2296x922, 846K)

>Discord has had a more modern UI
Discord's gui is shit.

>probably a good thing for live streaming
lmao I totally forgot Steam added this "feature". Does anyone even use it?

It's awful, full of useless bullshit, slow and laggy

The right picture is even worse, it looks straight out of the late 90's. You've got to be a massive weeb to think that shit actually looks good.

Unironically yes. Which is pretty surprising, it's actually ser indie devs with a somewhat built up community that use it.

And Steam is trying to copy the worst of it unfortunately.

Just got the beta library and I agree with you on western designs going to shit. Also, this is running pretty slowly.

It sells, and that's business. I don't like it much either, but it works across different form factors better than Steam's legacy design.
They were promoting a dev stream of Gears 5 on its store page. I don't know how they plan to expand on it, but I'm betting that they will. Now seems to be a more saturated time than ever, so there's potential for change.

I'm not a weeb, I am Asian though. I prefer the simplicity and knowing where to find shit rather than digging through pages of giant slow loading images and 3D effects that make the sites harder to navigate.

I mean he's not wrong

yes, but they are eventually going to make it the standard if the chat update was anything to consider. If we're lucky they will add an option to make it more similar to the previous sets
No, I don't believe so. What happened to me is that a few free games that I had uninstalled were botted into my first category, but no other issues

I'm not doing the beta, but I dread its final release.

It's fine. Currently it seems to have some bug which causes GPU load even when its only displaying static content on some pages, but it seems that it stops if you toggle Low Performance mode. Before the update I just had a list sorted by my most recently played titles, this new version lets me do the same. I'm really glad I still get my list and they haven't gone full retard with covers only or something like that. I guess seeing news about the games I play is kinda nice and collections seem like a useful feature, though not one I expect to personally use that much. There also seems to be another bug where this new interface thinks I'm not logged in, despite me browsing my own library from Steam itself, plus it uses a pig disgusting amount of memory.

These covers were a bad idea, though. Not only are they missing for a lot of games (makes sense, not really Valve's fault or anything they could realistically do to get devs to add them), but they're pretty unreadable. Most of these covers weren't designed to be easily readable at such a small size, especially not the banners. They need to add an option to display the title under the cover or something, at least you could see what the fuck you're looking at without squinting at a tiny cover, or even worse an even tinier banner squeezed into a tiny cover.

I hope they get the bugs ironed out and ideally they'd reduce memory use by an order of magnitude, since this is abhorrently disgusting for a fucking interface which displays text and pictures, but that's not going to happen since it's probably running Electron or some other browser-borne abomination. Ah well, good thing I have more RAM than I really need.

Everything involving the library. Game pages, and updates really.

>What's new pannel shows only news to F2P games you played 6 years ago

Epic game store is a clusterfuck and breaks trying to launch the 1 game I own with it. That piece of software couldn't handle my 432 games in fifty million years

It's not bad.

My categories have always been shit and had ridiculous overlap with Favorites. How are you breaking down collections/categories/shelves?

where do you see that? I can't find it

where's the option to remove the "what's new" shelf?

I cannot.

they're already running everything in electron too, just like epic :^)

So where do I fucking scrape all the working covers for the games I own? We just getting it on the booru again or something?

Linux user here. Is the new library slow on Windows too?

It expanded all my categories, most of which were collapsed. But I guess that's okay. I only had so many collapsed categories because I had categorized games in two ways:

* by completion status (unplayed, finished, etc.)
* by series (e.g., a category for all Doom games -- which, by the way, are not all adjacent in alphabetical order, hence the need for such categories -- etc.)

I had the completion rate categories expanded and the series categories collapsed because I didn't need to see everything twice all the time. But the completion rate stuff is automatic now, so I can stop tracking that manually, and just have a category for each series.

>where's the option to remove the "what's new" shelf?
I'm trying to find it as well, I finally got rid of the fucking News sections in the old library and now this shit shows up.

I don't really like this solution for making tall cover art for games which only have a wide image. It's ugly -- and the fact that it's ugly is a bit of a problem, considering it seems to apply to most games.

Holy shit this is a fucking nightmare lmao.

they want you to stop playing non steam games

It's like I'm 14 again and have to manually add album art to WinAmp/Foobar

I guess the way Steam is going to battle the Vault services craze is by listing the free to play stuff on every library, so suddenly you have 300 more games and get the same sense of vidya vault without paying a dime

leave it to a fucking frenchy to use start bar on top

>displaying seconds in your time
>that timezone
WAIT YOU'RE NOT EVEN A REAL FRENCHY? YOU'RE A FUCKING KEKNADIA FRENCHY?

Seriously. Every game on Steam has a wide image, so as of now I'm thinking they should have just stuck with that aspect ratio. I'm guessing all the popular games will get portrait-oriented images soon, but it will probably never happen for all the obscure indie games.

How do I make the free to play games fuck off from my library without doing it manually, how do I stop seeing shit that shows up in the activity feed under every game now

I like it.

I'll wait for the official release, but far FAR too many developers seem to believe in the motto 'if it ain't broke, lets change everything and fuck it all up plus add more bugs'. So let's just say I'm not too thrilled with what's coming. Guess we'll see...

I wish, but I'm stuck with Pit People Beta and a ton of shit for Company of Heroes. I'd get rid of the latter, but I got it on a bundle with Darksiders, so it'd remove that game too!

its way better and way faster than the old one, i like it

The only thing I sort of like about it is the individual game pages. The long banners, trading card and achievement details, and news / community stuff all on one page is very nice.

The rest of the UI is trash, though.

>He still believes valve feedback reports work
I still remember back in 2014 when I wrote a bunch of detailed reports about big picture stuff, and to this very day the bugs are still there, with no end in sight
it is sad to say this, but Valve literally ignore everything because there is always a "rewrite" incoming
it's their excuse to not fix any bugs
"wait for the new library"

That category view actually looks nice. I just wish everything weren't sluggish. I assume it will be optimized though.

the home page is the worst part easily

why yours are colored and mine are all blue, lad?

I find it bizarre that they would do a beta, create a forum for beta feedback, and then ignore all feedback. Getting feedback from users is literally the sole purpose of a public beta.

Attached: concern.png (576x699, 194K)

It was more than I expected.
My played is 250 so I find it pretty messed up that almost half the games in my library I have never played.

Attached: my unplayed.png (223x229, 74K)

i know, and I always believe it works. I am the autist that always send feedback, but they get so much amount, that they literally ignore it, or only fix really big stuff for exposure
to this very day, the clock in big picture still shows as "..." in many menus... something that could be fixed in 20 minutes, because it is just a problem with the padding of the other icons... nothing in 5 years

do NOT do it
who am I kidding nobody can stop you, at least once you do it you're done & don't have to do it again except one more game every now and then when you buy a new game

How do you add them? does that still work?

Nah man this nuValve. They're way more responsive to feedback. Just look at the steamlabs shit they did, those were updated based on community feedback.

>100% OJ
>200% OJ
>Suguri
>Sora
>QP Shooting Dangerous
>X-Mas Shooting Scramble
>Acceleration of Suguri
>Accelearation of Suguri 2

>using steam beta

>300% Orange Juice
>six more games that aren't orange juice

Beat me, user. It did it by itself when I slotted games in, I guess.

EVERY GAME COVER IS NOW A CUTE ANIME GIRL

Don't know, but now it's sitting on my library inflating my library collection

unironically, my unplayed is full of Randy shit

Attached: file.png (802x895, 1.01M)

Do it
And post them here

user, is this bait?
Orange Juice refers to the developer of all those games.

i would be very happy if that is the case, but that has to do with journos and EGS
wait for them to fix cosmetic stuff
at least the experience with steam chat was better, so there is that

Right-click on a cover. Artwork needs to be at least 600x900

Attached: custom artwork.jpg (395x376, 77K)

You likely changed the library settings so that it doesn't run like shit. I had colors on the collections, but after I changed the settings, they went away alongside the images.

>200% OJ
what, that came out?

>Suguri
>Sora
>QP Shooting Dangerous
>X-Mas Shooting Scramble
>Acceleration of Suguri
>Accelearation of Suguri 2
WHAT ARE ANY OF THESE WHAT THE FUCK

WHAT HAPPENED DUDE DID I PLOP OUT OF SOME ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, I SEE AN ORANGE JUICE THREAD EVERY NOW ON THEN ON Yea Forums BUT I NEVER HEARD OF ANY OF THOSE OTHER GAMES

I've hoarded tons of garbage during Coal Christmas Sale and when Humble Bundle was literally 15 games for 0.01$.

Attached: 1562656136300.jpg (891x1024, 229K)

then that's it
thank you

>activating games you wouldn't play rather than trading/giving them away to anons that will play them
disappointment

After looking at it closer it is actually only about 130 unplayed because it counted "tools" as games like can be seen in the thumbnail.

Let me tell you, trying to make custom artwork isn't difficult but actually having that smeared glow is beyond me right now.

Attached: beta.jpg (1920x1080, 1.87M)

Oh, very simple, thanks.

holy fuck I forgot about that, how long ago was that

POST EM CATEGORIES

Attached: file.png (224x250, 74K)

It is shit

I like it, but is messy

>deleted
Based retard, what the fuck, that wasn't a joke?

I pirate shit and buy later at massive discounts so most of my library is categorized as unplayed.

duplicate layer
use gaussian blur to 2.0 or so
change that layer opacity mode to overlay

No, I'm just retarded and thought it said recently played within the hour not under one hour played total.

I don't understand how this works, it shows I have 216 unplayed but I manually counted the titles and there's only 90 titles
and back in the day humble bundles are really popular

That's because nobody ever talks about them. Orange Juice mainly makes bullet hell shooters, the AoS games are even Bullet Hell Fighting Games. 100% OJ was always just a spin-off anniversary game.

this is basically a convoluted clusterfuck
this right here is where all the pain is coming from
why a big as fuck button when categories are more important
why the two tiny buttons, one being important, because it shows the installed games
and why in hell you can filter the search like if you were creating a category, duplicating functionality

Attached: file.png (289x168, 13K)

I'm away from my desktop but this looks alright. Does the shitty "news" still show up though

>make category for racing
>rocket league
>GTA 4 episodes
>GTA 5
>sleeping dogs
>audiosurf
>mad max
>euro truck sim
fuck off

Attached: collections.png (786x421, 300K)

Trading games was absolute cancer, everyone was trying to jew the fuck out of each other. To reprocess 1000 Bad Rats into one proper games you'd have to be a fucking Midas.

Attached: 1549588740503.png (575x575, 259K)

it's gone, but now you have the community feed inside the detailed view, so you get rusky gifs and furry fanart right in your face, and destroying your performance
at least you can make it not load automatically

this
the trading scene is ruined by resellers
now keysites are the way to go

Basically all I did was make a "dynamic" category (same thing as the old category, fuckin' Hell) for my VR. That's the only change I had to make for it to be the exact same list as the old one. Doubt I'll be using the tile view much since I never did before anyway.

Attached: Steam_2019-09-18_02-26-13.png (148x152, 28K)

Game journo shit was removed finally and replaced with legit updates (patch notes, events, dev blogs) but some games don't show it for some reason.

Attached: 1527598986089.jpg (759x1092, 112K)

>no more garbage game journo articles
>replaced by autistic "community" memes

How do you see this. I don't have an option for Unplayed anywhere, but I have played all my games so that would make sense.

522 games, 147 tools and software.

Attached: unplayed.png (202x206, 77K)

>dynamic collections
Okay I take back what I said in the previous thread. I can deal with this dogshit UI for this feature alone.

>categories for ants

You can hide it by enabling low bandwidth mode in settings. It's still a crutch tho, I really hope it's going to be removed. And yeah, autists spamming memes, anime screenshots and porn in community hub are superhumans compared to kotaku niggers.

Wouldn't a Steam skin be able to get rid of those eventually? I'm just thankful the news section is actual news now.

yes
>wot I think
>anita sarkessian on san andreas

ok what exactly is Dean Learner in this picture

sauce

I heard it doesn't work if you don't have an internet connection so I haven't downloaded it.
Hope it's a temporary fluke and valve hasn't forgotten locally stored pages can fetch online information.

Just wait for the eventual automated program some dude will make that will update all your covers in one click you autists.

it is designed by a monk in Tibet that only has a library of 20 games, no friends, and only visits games where there is no toxic meme community posts
the results really show Valve is disconnected from reality

>well that's neet

Attached: Untitled.png (1427x497, 603K)

HEY WHY DON'T WE PUT THE COMMUNITY POSTS, FULL OF FURRY PORN AND RUSKY MEMES CENTER LEFT ON EVERY GAME IN YOUR LIBRARY
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG
MUH SOCIAL, RIGHT?? HAHAHAHA

The left side text list is the only part that ever mattered. Showing album art is a waste of space. Steam doesn't need to be more than 200 pixels wide.

I love how the horizontal covers are just smears.

Attached: steamcovers.png (1525x827, 2.48M)

Attached: file.png (330x489, 310K)

All I want is the simple list view we have now. Is that still there?

are you kidding me

The left side list is more or less identical.

The new library would be impressive if the other pages also got this update. They made it easier to access discussion pages and you go to discussions and it looks old and very clunky to use. Also, really hope more publishers update the covers, now with the new view it seems you are forced to see them with their pictures and now it looks ugly though that isn't on Valve, unless Valve gave the option to switch back to horizontal for preference and for publishers who haven't or won't update the art.

Thoughts?

Attached: changestothestupidhomebutton.png (912x418, 26K)

I hate that I'm seriously considering making a thousand game covers that are actually just loli images.

Please end me Yea Forums.

i wish the tools and test betas that I have never played would go away

I see that plague of gripes snake girl

just use igdb

Damn.

Attached: file.png (217x229, 71K)

Attached: file.png (330x489, 306K)

I would remove the "filtered list" or at least rename it to something that makes more sense

So is there any reason why Valve just didn't do what Galaxy did where they connected to igdb for the covers? Is it something to do with the api or something?

Can I delete whats new tab line?

Just let me remove the HOME line entirely, it's useless shit.

Valve host the official artwork devs provide
they were warned for month prior to this to provide suitable artwork for the new interface

Were you not around during the first couple years of humble bundle?

>still no comfy tag

Do it, faggot.

fuck this shit, is the gog beta ready

Way too bloated and flashy.
It's a bit better with the low bandwidth and performance modes enabled but they need to piss off with all the social media bullshit.

meh

Attached: Ckme2NV.png (195x204, 85K)

they need to remove "add category" from the blocks

Funny thing is this does not take into account the amount of games just farmed for the cards
a correct listing would be 0 achievements unlocked games

What is the point of the empty space at the bottom? Can't they just float some shit upwards? Also why put that stupid say something box there? Do they just want shit posting?

Do you know what the image resolution needs to be for the new images? I wanna start fixing my own customs

i will post some examples

Guess I am moving to Epic Games launcher.

Don't just remove the Home line. Remove Home itself. It shows News and Recently Played. It's useless.

>mouse cursor turns into a pointer

It was already there, just not used in many places.
And it's retarded that it is now, because everything has a horizontal cover while vertical ones aren't required.

I am Actually considering making porn covers for all my games as a hobby now.

Attached: file.png (792x402, 250K)

>newer game doesn't have vertical art
SEGA what the fuck are you doing?

Attached: 2019-09-18_08-50-19.png (798x352, 479K)

Should I add all the games I want to my wishlist that I use as a backlog list? Probably won't be able to ever afford them all though which is why I took them off. And has Valve fixed the glitch where if you have over 100 games on the wishlist random games disappear from the wishlist?

do you think so? i know valve published new artwork guidelines for 4k, and the new cover format
they also have to include a transparent title artwork that they can position wherever they want over the marquee
pic related

the title animates with the background in the leaked beta from june

Attached: file.png (809x388, 551K)

It's just got way too much bloat and redundancy, seemingly for the sake of padding (what the fuck!)

Get rid of everything in red, move the settings button in yellow to the ribbon, and then replace the feed in blue with a singular content feed like News or game specific information like achievements; shit even the community feed possibly.
At least make them optional if they aren't already.

Attached: GABE. FIRE. THESE. PEOPLE..png (2183x1280, 1.71M)

I swear to fucking god I hope Valve doesn't make this too customizable. Custom game covers is already killing me.

If they give me the option to:
Add custom banners
Add custom game names
Add custom viewing for every game page
My autism is going to go full supernova.

Van Buren is actually Underrail

It's a detective game.
I dunno why I put him there, but I liked it

i like it

>can't clear time played

Attached: 1563853641242.jpg (480x360, 21K)

Oh, that one. Yeah I don't know, you're probably right then.

I should've played this game months ago. Not my favorite genre, but it still got me to play for over an hour, so it did something right.

godspeed

I don't know why they removed the marquee animation in this build
wait for the next release
when you scroll down, the background makes a kind of parrallax effect with the title
they are different images, so customization fags would probably find them in the game folders

Attached: file.png (810x404, 510K)

It broke Metro so we're off to a bad start.

there was literally nothing wrong with it, now we are going to be forced to use this garbage. who the fuck opens steam and stares at their library deciding what to play? I already know what I want to play and just play the game

I just hope they don't show screen shots anymore.
I get nervous sweets everytime I hover over Skyrim or FO4 and someone is in the room with me.

When the fuck will someone update Metro for this new update?

of course it did, they'll update it soon anyways

If I install the beta will it fudge my existing custom categories/favorites/etc? Can any kind anons confirm?

Attached: 047.jpg (346x824, 211K)

it reverted my categories to june for some reason

>got to View > Small Mode
>jk small mode is gone
WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING

Attached: file.png (396x781, 298K)

someone mentioned it removing their favourites earlier in the thread

It's pretty meh, had a bit of fun making this, then it's back to business as usual.

Attached: screenshot000.png (1920x1040, 1.01M)

I just can't peg exactly why it's so hard to look at for me. Not that it's ugly necessarily, it's just sorting through all the shit on screen seems to be a chore when it hadn't been. They need to fade the visual elements and dark backgrounds to the headers.

my steam updated but nothing changed.

now that I think about it, probably when I installed the leaked build

All of mine were fine.

This is peak steam. Everything else is shit.

>removed collapse all
INSTANTLY
UNINSTALLED

The "Expand All" and "Collapse All" functions for the categories seem to be gone now. Of course they would be gone; It's fun having to do it all manually.

looks like shit

removing features, the future of technology

can clear previous names now

i cant believe nobody is raising a huge shitfest about it either
i just want to play games but valve wants you to look at a bunch of gay social shit like its vidya facebook or something

Back to your containment launcher, Xin.

Changed a bit more. HOME could honestly just be removed, but Its still on the image to help me visualize better on Paint and not have to constantly check the Library.

Attached: changestothestupidhomebuttonpart2.png (912x418, 36K)

wtf you can filter by Metacritic score?

Attached: uhh.png (723x478, 381K)

It's a beta specifically for the cancer mode, they'll probably add it back later.

the launcher looks better if you make the window square
it gives you eye cancer if you maximize the window... everything panned and a lot of wasted space
still, a huge clusterfuck of odd decision, in terms of size in particular
>the activity feed shows WHEN I EARNED A FREAKING CARD
come on... this is plain spam at this point, to justify a section that will get zero attention

Attached: 4413728.650000001_image.png (1599x713, 1.93M)

It's not that bad, melodrama aside. It's a beta, it clearly needs some adjustment still. Too much bloat, not hard to read, but very annoying.

Fade out the game backgrounds a bit, add dark backgrounds to the text headers.
Remove all the useless, redundant buttons for shit that you can already access through the context menu. Remove or let people hide the multiple feeds they try to have on screen all at once.

Let people completely hide and ignore all the useless social media and friend feeds.

What the fuck where? That's pretty based.

turn filtered list into a bunch of little icons you can toggle from the top, and that's it

You could always do that in one of the old views. They need to bring in 'Sort by Steam Users review" It might still be shit but it's better than journo opinions

and bring back small mode.

you could do it prior to this
the problem is many games, like easily 40%, are missing the metacritic score for some reason
just go to the bottom of the list

>check Metacritic filter
> fucking Shatter of all games has a vertical image
Nice. Maybe I should play it some more

Attached: Metacritix..png (1069x547, 1.11M)

Any hope companies will update the art?

>the launcher looks better if you make the window square

It could be a tesseract for all i care, it still looks shite.

You want to make a well accepted UI? Allow us to customize our own windows with as much or as little info as we want, and allow spacers.

retards who buy literal garbage they don't actually want because MUH SALE

based and good taste

It almost looks like they've catered some of the new interface for tablet use, for some reason.
I actually use a 2-in-1, and the interface makes a bit more sense when using the touch screen, but it's still really annoying to read.
I maintain that they need to let people adjust or hide the extra buttons.

post the full size of that Sumireko RIGHT NOW

Oh, that'd actually be pretty neat. Just have the filters on the "HOME" page as icons instead of the "recent" and "news" sections that can't be removed. I should've payed more attention to web design classes.

we need a workshop for this.

>Bioshock 2 cover got fixed
We did it boys

I lost it, sorry

Attached: EDxWdgaUcAEH6Me.png (900x879, 825K)

Yes. Now that it's out people will see who are the lazy fucks who never update their covers.

I restarted my steam and notice that some of the covers had been updated, maybe hold off on fixing all the covers manually for now

Yes I tried it.
I then opened task manager and saw it hit 700mb ram. Immediately rolled back.

It seems neat but I'll wait for a few weeks when they update it a bit.

The biggest problem is how much fucking ram it uses especially when you scroll through shit.

>get email for the GOG beta access same day that the steam re-design beta drops

smooth as hell
good improvement if you actually have friends so ofcourse Yea Forums will be pissed about it

It looks like trash
What was wrong with the old one?
>Name

>Additional links on the side
Perfectly organized and readable. Now it's this bulking ass mess of an achievement and update timeline that I don't know why anyone would give a shit about with this huge section dedicated to community content (aka other's ebin screenshots) yet you have to have to search for the fucking workshop.

Attached: google image.jpg (1024x686, 74K)

>to see the ALL games list you have to click on "filtered list" and uncheck "group by collection"
THIS IS INTUITIVE DESIGN BY THE VALVE CORPORATION

Attached: Capture.jpg (225x220, 8K)

Having to customize the box art is the best thing they could've ever added

rarer achievements seem to have a sparkle around them on the game page, the pictures ones are all at a 1% playerbase completion rate

Attached: cheevos.png (489x239, 185K)

>21 hours
>only 9 cheevos
that 100% completionist run right there

Now I appreciate the old layout, may roll back, it's simple and while kinda jank, its just good.

for me the best feature is the overlay that show screenshots of the game, so that I can tell what the fuck is that game about

Attached: file.png (427x307, 182K)

not that hard to find

now this one looks so cohesive and on point

How do I sign up?

just switch to the beta client on the first page of steam preferences

google steam beta

Was there any mention of how long the beta was going to last?

why "games i will never stop loving" and not just use favourites?

>anything updates anything
>IT'S SHIT I HATE CHANGES I WAS ALREADY USED TO THE OLD STUFF
Users are retards. Nothing ever can be changed without users getting butthurt and shitting all over the place.

i can't fucking sort my games by things such as "installed" and "owned by (user)" or "tools"

Forever? tf you mean

Attached: Rally_confusion.jpg (640x480, 41K)

Attached: steam.png (1163x310, 600K)

Why not try both?

The new layout is just garbage though. Was it even designed by Valve?

the "installed" is now one of the 2 tiny icons next to the search bar.

Rate my fav's fagz

Attached: favs.png (1436x740, 1.17M)

It's the same shit but rearranged differently to more prominently display news, so that you will more readily notice when a game has been updated or has an event going on.

It's because when most users want changes, they think "I like what I have, but I'd like it to be able to do these things as well."
Companies who have entire sections devoted to UI work and need to justify their existence see that though and go "REWORK FUCKING EVERYTHING", and more often than not you get apple/macfags doing the work which fucks it up even more.

There are a lot of legitimate problems that people are bringing up though.
Bloat, lack of excluding tags, arbitrarily changing default image dimensions, bringing up dead games, ect.

It's the first day of beta, everything Valve releases in beta starts really fucking shitty.
Wait for a new release on their beta labs and try it out.

Is Warband and Bloodlines worth buying? I pirated both and love both. Planning on buying Bannerlord and Bloodlines II to support devs.

its alright, should try new stuff tho.
Also why the fuck does garry's mod look highlighted.

You guys are very helpful thank you.q

Fukin yes on Warband, fuckin no on Bloodlines. Not because BL is a bad game, but because you'd be giving Activision money.

I'm autistic and enjoy this categorizing shit.
It's filled with games that have either influenced me personally, or that I always install without a second though, or games like New Vegas where, while I won't install it again ( I've played it too many times and just can't enjoy it without feeling winded 5 minutes ingame), It still holds a special spot in my heart.

That's true, but sometimes you need to try out the new stuff for some time and let it grow before saying that it's complete shit and will always be.

Yeah, that's ok, it's in beta, but some people especially on the Steam Client Beta forums are just going "FUCK THIS AWFUL SHIT REVERT IT RIGHT NOW I FUCKING HATE IT VALVE YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKERS" even though they can just disable beta participation.

>How badly do you hate it
HAHAHHA fuck off Tim.

is there a way to reorder shelves without deleting them?

what if all these is just to make people realize their libraries are full of garbage to the brim?
because this is what is happening to me
dear lord, help me

I have no clue why they include all the free tools you're given. I don't even own the games for almost all of them seemingly.
Only 25 of these are games, five of which are unstable or public test versions.

Attached: Untitled.png (216x212, 82K)

Fucking humble bundle.

i figure it out nevermind, you just change the shelf in the dropdown and you cant drag it

Where is the news and updates located? I can't see anything for that now

>my CPU spikes up to 50% usage when looking at a game
>low performance & bandwidth doesnt help at all
fuck this gay ass library, it looks like total ass

Attached: 1515515701673.png (325x302, 132K)

Shit is jank as fuck but it'll get better. I remember Dota 2's UI update being an absolute fucking clusterfuck that got fixed in the coming weeks.

Just report feedback if you actually have anything to say lads

And quite often you don't, because the new stuff isn't doing what you need it do it, but the company doesn't care. New stuff is here to stay. Maybe they'll move a button for you six months later.

Bloodlines hasn't been owned by Activision for years. The IP is now owned by Paradox.

Haha...

S'gud. What's that game on the top right?

Well to be honest I actually really like it. Picking the medium size option makes it look better than the previous library and you have more freedom in terms of customization. Really loving the features they added too, like being able to search your own library using tags, seeing recent updates when you click on games and being able to access the workshop easier. The only complaint I have so far is the fact that the games you gain from sharing libraries are not automatically categorized anymore like xx's games, really hope they fix that. Also obviously some games look like shit because they don't have thumbnails and banners that fit but hopefully that'll be fixed in due time. Overall really happy about the change.
Now hopefully they'll make the voice chat worth a shit so I can finally uninstall the piece of shit software called Discord for good

Attached: 6.jpg (1200x623, 78K)

It just Werks even right now. I think it went through a pretty long period of internal testing.

>quake's old banner was just a vertical box art with some padding on the sides to make it a horizontal banner

i want the sidebar bar to being small
The center of the screen is..okay, but it's kinda laggy and the background colour blinks between black and gray

Ok change of pace. Show off your list of games you absolutely hate and why you hate them if you want.

>Al Emmo: Think Leisure Suit Larry but without anything that makes Larry a funny character, but play up Larry's patheticness to be annoying.

>Bioshock Infinite: Do I have to fucking say anything?

>A place for the unwilling: It's. So. Fucking. BOOOOORRRRIIIINNNGGGG. It's a game where you walk all over a big city at a snail's pace to unlock interesting story snippets on a timer, but money is fucking hard to make, but necessary to fast travel to certain places on time.

>We the Revolution: It keeps throwing on new game concepts on top of established ones. "You are a tribunal judge, oh and also a town planner, political schemer, family guy, and military general. Also up it's own ass at times. Great fucking art though.

>gotta segregate the games I own from the games my brother owns on our family share set up
>he's got recently-acquired porn games in there

The fact that I like this update probably says something about me as a person. Because I'm one of the few autists who actually enjoys the community features of steam.

>try scrolling around on the library panel on the left side thats just the names of the games and an icon
>it fucking reloads the icons every time i scroll back up and hogs my CPU while doing so
>current steam library only loads the icon once and it stays there until i restart steam
whoever thought this UI update was a good idea needs to be fired

how old is he?

31 tomorrow.

Not only do I hate these games but I cam sort them by metacritic score and smirk at them. I love this and the dynamic collections thing.

What's wrong with L4D2?

The best part of this update are all the ironic memesters in this shithole posting their le epic edited custom game covers.

Basically a guessing game.

>WAAAHHH NO FUN ALLOWED

I honestly hated having to find gas canisters.

How do I get it? Mine looks the same.

Steam - Settings - Account - Beta Participation dropdown

Yeah but that's just an annoyance. I was asking about games that people just hate with a passion. Games that remind you what not to look for in newer games. Broken games, unenjoyable games, games that are more boring than watching a tree grow.

Anyone know how the updates work? If a game I like gets updated, how intrusive will the update be when I open Steam?

I need to figure out how to make this shit look and act exactly like it did before the New Faggot Experience dropped in summer 2018.

I bought the game brand new and dropped it after 3 hours. I have never bought a multiplayer only game that relies on teamwork again and avoid any game with those mechanics all because of this game. That's more than an annoyance.

Now they can fix up big picture mode and make it not an ugly slow piece of shit right?

...right?

Attached: csgo of worry.jpg (431x479, 29K)

hope this feature stays

Attached: steamy holo.png (1177x851, 1.15M)

>How badly do you hate it?

Fuck off underaged edglord, you don't look cool because you "hate" things retard.

I actually think the big picture update is coming soon because doesn't that directly tie into steamvr?

Nice! How do you figure out the proper gap width when you do this? I want to make one for my 40k games.

>check a random game
>see the community feed
>suddenly see HUGE ANIME TIDDIES someone posted

Dare I say, this update is based?

You guys are sending your complaints to Valve, right? You're not just bitching somewhere they can't see so that they'll keep pushing out the shitty version, right?

literally just slice tool in Ps, user im sure you know how to use it

Displaying portrait "box art" images when 95% of games only have landscape images really is THE most retarded thing about this update.
>but you can select custom images
What? No. I have hundreds of games. I'm not doing ANYTHING manually in a library of that size. Absolutely fuck no.

This box art image ugliness, and the horrible slowness, both make this new UI feel like shit. The performance issues in particular need to be sorted out by the time the beta ends or I'm unironically going to start launching all my Steam games from Playnite or GOG Galaxy.

Yeah. I sent a lot of customizability requests for library and game page viewing. Just lots of opt out shit for some social features I don't need.

Another thing is I asked if small mode will still be on the client once the beta ends. The ram usage I just said as a passing comment because I'm sure its just an unoptimized mess at the moment.

Honestly there needs to be an option to have landscape tiles to select from instead of boxart style.

This shit is gobbling up RAM like nobody's business. I reckon anyone with less than 16 GBs of RAM is having a suboptimal time.

Anyone else seeing some games suddenly get cover art? Every now and then a new game will lose its awful blurry default shit.

Tell me what categories to make because I can't sort this this for myself

Haha wow I can't wait for this stupid meme to start
I'm gonna make one as an example
Ironically of course
Man this is stupid I'm so lazy haha

Do it and make them all kirby themed

Game you like.
Game you don't like.
Game you didn't know you even owned.

HE HATES IT

Can you still use small mode (i.e. cut all the stupid community shit out)?

Just wait until they give us the ability to exclude tags to make your collections, it'll be about a billion times easier once they do.

It's gone right now. Also a few other regressions concerning missing features that'll probably be patched back in asap.

I'm interested in seeing what kinds of custom covers people make for games
there's a surprising amount that don't have covers as is

>custom covers
Personally I'd approve of custom game names to get rid of all the stupid â„¢.

>Game you didn't know you even owned.
Uncategorized is good enough for that

measure the pixels

I made this cateogry and it says I have 99 unplayed but only shows 9 games.
I don't even own 99 games.

Attached: 304531.jpg (225x338, 30K)

Time to just crop up some covers then.

Attached: bloodstained_art_box.jpg (800x1200, 806K)

Can you see other people's game covers?

Are you all retarded? It's exactly that

Attached: 36ed78c78f619e440e91a4089238b870.jpg (1905x1000, 1.13M)

>underrail is a 72
Why are people so bad at videogames?

they try to make it like some kino poster or sumthin like that

also trying to compete with EGS for the pretentious hipster artsy fartsy bullshit

just look at the center of that ad - that Osiris or whatever crying game that was given free by EGS few months ago

inb4 RENT FREE

fuck u guys I use both launchers and every existing launcher including Galaxy Origin Uplay what have you like a good goy I am

All of them will probably be updated in a week except games in licensing limbo or just abandoned.

Why dd you buy Koikatsu party my nigga. Should've pirated the version with all content.

I'll never understand what people's deal with Alien Isolation was. I think it's borderline masterpiece.

>Buyers Remorse
>Is filled with highly rated games in the 80+ range
what

>some games have amazing art
>others look like genuine trash monkeys

Hope this improves.

I'm afraid to test it out in case it mess up the library categories that I just meticulously sorted for the 980+ games I have

most are in the trash/shovelware category but for the ones that I want to play I'm afraid it will be fucked up after updated

i still have all the content modded in this one but idk why i bought the base im retarded

I-I'll get to them eventually.

Attached: Untitled.png (206x215, 78K)

Speaking just for myself I played it for an hour and never ran across an alien. That burn is just a little too slow for me.
That's the top 8 games out of 27 in the category. And just because I don't like it doesn't make it bad.

Attached: fuck this shit.jpg (1572x701, 970K)

>remove features
>WHY ARE PEOPLE CRITICIZING THIS PERFECT UI UPDATE OH MY GOD THIS IS SO TOXIC

Should I put Rocket League in Racing or Sports category?

oh i read ur comment wrong im retarded

>PC Gamers will never know this feel
how does it feel to not own any of your games?

Attached: physical-collection.jpg (2048x1536, 640K)

Would you put Twisted Metal in racing? Exactly.

We use to get physical shit....

until you all sold yourselves out because of a little DRM.

>comments about PC players not owning their games
>implies physical is any different
>not only that but also shows a collection of PS2 games which are easily downloadable/emulatable and without DRM and will last infinitely longer than their physical counterparts

All of those games are good except anno and king's bounty which I've never played. You have shit taste.

>>implies physical is any different
It is, retard

But I do own my games. I pirate cracked versions of all the shit I've bought and have them stored.

Attached: delightfully devilish.jpg (360x360, 26K)

>disk breaks or is unreadable due to wear
>i dont own my game anymre

worthless and will expire unlike pressed discs

Maybe if you were white you wouldn't break your shit?

>console are going the way of digital downloads too

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

disks "expire" faster than hard drives

It only took a decade to make an interface that looks like it's from 2015.
Good going, Valve.

>PS2
>Easily emulatable
Your PC mustard race hasn't figured out how to emulate 70% of its games without glitches to this date. Same with N64, a 20 year old console might I add.

>>console are going the way of digital downloads too
They aren't, so keep suffering

thankfully i dont need to be white to preserve my digital media.

Ac 2 had hard coded xbox controller inputs making all of the tutorials and all the prompts useless. SOMETHING pissed me off about all of them. It doesn't mean they are bad games. I don't remember why Anno is in there.

Jesus that UI is making me feel claustrophobic.

meh if I want to look at pretty pictures might as well just turn on to Big Picture mode

why don't add this new one as another mode then?

then can switch views/modes

[motor]sports or vehicles I don't know based on your other games and what do you have more haha

hard drives usually die in about 15 years, optical media is estimated to last 70+ years

sadly, the hardware that reads that physical media never lasts even 1/5th of that.

Make a new thread nerds. I'm still compiling all the game covers I've been making.

I really like it but its kinda laggy on start-up and apparently it eats up RAM unlike the old one.

Attached: 1504205775110.jpg (4800x3077, 3.08M)

That's what Raid5/6 are for.

SOUL

Attached: 1556935398158.png (1910x930, 3.26M)

Somebody needs to make a booru or something for all the custom covers

Is there any way to have a "not installed" category?

It's using 1.3 gigs on mine. But shit, Firefox is using the same amount.

That'll happen soon probably on reddit

>sadly, the hardware that reads that physical media never lasts even 1/5th of that.
No worries there, it's still going stronger than your PC.

Why does every electron program look the same

>Chrome only using 655MB
based

point out 2 removed features

Small mode view

Can't we just take over the old steam banners booru?

>ramlets

GOTTA GET THAT BADGE NUMBER UP

Attached: 1564673243677.png (805x851, 89K)

>1.3gb
what the fuck, im calling bullshit. pics

It's not as terrible as I'd been led to believe but so much of the faux covers with small horizontal inlays and blur around looks meh and the performance isn't as responsive as before, I'll probably stick to non-beta until it gets a bit more polish.
I'm a big fan of having my 500+ games unsorted and uncategorized since I always just find what I want to play by pressing a letter to jump to the correct height in the list, but shelves aren't a bad idea regardless of that, I'll check back with it in a few months probably.
