Why are crit draw shitters so goddamn retarded? Just because it's viable doesn't mean it's optimal. There is no "viable" set in Monster Hunter other than whatever is the most optimal.

Master's Touch isn't that powerful in a vacuum, because it needs a whole lot of skills behind it to reach its potential. The issue is that all the skills it needs are ones that are already hugely desirable, and World has massive skill bloat. It's like the crit meta's wedding ring to the sharpness meta.

It might become less relevant now that you can just have razor sharp as a charm though.

This, back in 4u you had some really interesting insect glaives with unique designs (nerscylla, magalas, Najarala, Dalamadur, Seregios). Now every one of them is just a big bland pole, with luckily maybe 1 (one) unique spine or decoration on the top (Odogaron, Shara Ishvalda, Velkhana, Brachydios).

You can stagger easily with slinger mid combo now to land TCS. TCS might not be perfect but it is the right direction for greatsword design. Anyone thinking that GS optimal play should be revolved around crit draw is retarded. Imagine a weapon playstyle revolving around one attack in the whole kit.
I can TCS being tone down in damage in future MH game but allow more flexibility such as easier direction change during release frame and/or alternative attack out of the charge (i.e an alternative circular swing that can catch monster moving out of the vertical swing attack range)

I absolutely agree that GS could make use for a different meta, but TCS just doesn't fit with how they made everything in world attack too fast and too often.
Yes, when the monsters stagger enough, you can hit the TCS here and there, but it's not often enough that a set focused on it will be optimal unless, like I said, you're willing to retry the quest for better times.

I haven't played Iceborne yet so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the main reasons why crit draw wasn't used in base World was because you could reach 100% crit so easily that building completely around crit draw is a waste. Even against monsters like Kirin, you can't squeeze out enough extra damage for a crit draw build to outdamage a regular build that lets you crit TCS on a knockdown. At best it might be slightly better, but it's not anything definitive.

The monsters are too fast most of the time to just tackle spam into TCS, correct. Behemoth is the best example of this. But unless you can pump huge amounts of damage into a draw slash vs the naturally large damage TCS has with a 100% crit build, I can't see pure crit draw being that good.

They buffed crit draw by making a set completely made for it, that's the difference from world to iceborne.

I can't remember if this was the case as well in World, but punish draw only increases the base damage by 5. It's nice but not worth building around unless it's a particular monster like Zinogre where hitting the head and stunning it is really effective. It was also stuck on the Odogaron set in World, meaning it's useless.

Rapid sticky is a lot like Kelbi Deershot from 3U. Your clear times may be subpar, but it will be the easiest clear of your life. What makes Garuga's gun so broken is that unlike Brachy and Jho's bowguns, it also has the best rapid pierce 2 shots in the game. The real loser here is Vaal's bowgun. It finally has a niche use over Jho with solid raw and rapid pierce 2, but just fucking does everything better than both guns's MR niches. It's complete bullshit.

GS Is just the most satisfying thing to play, you get to SWANG and chop off tails. LS is boring, switch has SWANG but you need to press more buttons, why press more when you can press less? It's kinda obvious why GS Is dominant in popularity. IG or Dual are fun but are only good for apply elements or statuses so you need multiple sets or decos to get the most out of them which means billions of spheres and money to upgrade the defense on those sets to make them actually viable so you dont die in one hit. Going with a dedicated elementless partbreaker high raw dmg build with GS just makes the most sense desu.

If you are too far from a monster, you wont dive. you need to be somewhat close to dive. if you are on the other side of Nergigante's arena and try to dive his divebomb, you might be too far and cart

I used to run SnS as a sub weapon for funsies, and it really is a fun ass weapon, but I eventually gave it up. You have to work three times harder than the rest of your team for smaller numbers and the range of a flaccid penis. It's a fun fucking weapon and it will give you nerves of steel in this game but it all became so tiresome.

Seeing people play Lance has made me think the charge move develops bad habits. I've seen plenty of them charging at improper times, trading hits and overall being a hindrance because they wanted to go fast or thinking the multihit nature of the move was better than regular poking. If the enemy is mid distance you might as well go Guard Dash -> Triple Poke -> Guard Dash for the safety.

My first time getting hooked on SnS was using it to solo Nergigante who was giving me trouble on my main weapon. I'm pretty sure that's when I learned to flash pod often and bring 13 every mission. SnS will force you to learn to use your items and slinger shots well, and you'll eventually get the timing down so intuitively that you'll find the skill carrying over to other weapons as long as you sheath pre-emptively. SnS definitely took me from OK at MHW to good at it, and by good I mean being able to conpensate for a shitty team while strapped to a shittt weapon. You get creative.

No, what I mean was that AT Teo and AT Xeno's armor sets only have three good pieces, which you need for the set bonus. Also, the MR armors are super shit until very late into the game. It's better to just stick with HR stuff and use Health Boost 3. It lets you take as much punishment as 150 HP at 665 def, which is where MR armor puts you anyway.

Lunastra's is a great defensive set, and Kushala has a few pieces nice for handicraft. I wouldn't recommend making more than the waist for either of them, since that's the really good piece, but you do you. If you want to make AT armor, go right ahead. It'll be a while until IB hits, and all you need is Health Boost 3 to make an HR armor set last well into MR.

I've been using GS since 1 and in 1 and 2 the only way to play GS is draw and for most other games it was still great so I'm glad draw is back on the menu

Crit element s now a late game skill appearing on Silver Los. Velkhana's has the basic bitch version, but True Critical Element is a 1.5 modifier on most weapons, and higher on the weapons that got extra crit element in the base game.

The dragon pulse outdamages the impact wave on dragon weak monsters. Besides, Attack Boost S->L is only a 5% loss compared to Attack Boost XL.

Then yeah. Shara's IG is a Buddhist monk staff that has a sort of circular holy symbol with rings attached to it that jingle when you hit things and move around.

TCS isn't shit if you play with it long enough and learn to anticipate what the AI will do next. I think everyone out there forgets you can fire a ROCK (1) of (20) as a burst shot, stagger the poor bastard, and lead into a final TCS stage, or soften him up the face when it flinches with the claw and then line up those shots.

GS is extremely satisfying to play, I've continued to use it to climb the ranks. Master of the weapon will be a joy. That being said, I am looking to branch off of Big Swingers and make try the Lance or possibly Switch Axe.

Part of the reason they spent so much money and manpower on graphicsin World was so that they could reuse them for EVERY MH game going forwards. So any hypothetical Portable games in the future will be using World’s graphical assets. The maps and shit will probably be a lot simpler but graphically it’ll look like World.

TCS is only truly viable in multiplayer, and even there you would end up hitting pointless enemy parts all the time.
Don't give that "antecipate" the enemy attack bullshit, please. There's no such a thing in world. most monsters have more than one answer to whatever position you're in, you're never in a spot that you can truly know what attack is coming next, and since the swing is really slow if it's the wrong attack you're sure to misfire or get hit.
Like I said, I get it, it's fun to hit TCS. I like doing it too from time to time, but if I want results, then I'll be doing draw.

I don't play online a whole lot, but I'll keep that in mind. I always go for the Soften up though out of habit. It is easy to abuse a fleeing monster's tail as they limp back to their nest over and over leading to a sever if you're crunched for time or opportunity (Glavenus)
