I had the exact same thought process as you. I'm too and the fact that the time skip was done so poorly and how quickly everything returned to status quo with no real consequence when I was playing one of the better stories (BL, I have little patience for BE chuuni stuff and BL was less lame anime stuff than GD) completely took the wind out of it.
