I hated magic at the start, but now that I'm level 18 I can see it's pretty strong and I can solo most enemies pretty easily. I also pretty much soloed the coin arena and all of its 5 waves when I was level 7, and I finished it as level 10 or 11.

The combat in this game is still pretty fucking boring, though.

No. There never was a definite leader in story, but they seem to now be leaning towards Hedwirg (the default fighter character) from the video games being the canon King of the Stolen Lands, given that for their 'brand new improved Kingmaker campaign' they pretty much just stole all of Owlcat's storylines and companions (because Owlcat did a much better job). Hedwirg is also on the front cover of their new handbook for the series.

Amiri is an Iconic. She's not allowed to just settle down in a kingdom. Notice that even in Kingmaker, all her companion quests endings have her eventually leave and do other shit.

Hedwirg just exists for the Kingmaker setting, and they used him on the front cover of the Companion guide for the tabletop. And in that companion guide, they have rules and quests for Amiri to be a companion, so they clearly now like the idea of Amiri being part of the Stolen Land story, but not as the baron/ruler, a role left to the party/player.

Succubi in the setting are literal fapbait set up by the demon lords and devils, who know that powerful mortals are still basically horny monkeys and willing to trade inordinate sums for attractive partners. Persey's old master literally paid a dragon egg + some other shit for her, even though he'd originally set the deal up for something else (a far more valuable something else) entirely.

So Persey is basically an emotionless sex slave, and helping her break out of that shell is the crux of the romance. It's good.

This game is janky as fuck and considering all the bugs I've encountered I wouldn't usually give it a second glance but goddamn there's something about it that keeps bringing me back in. It evokes the same feelings I had when playing the first Mass Effect, maybe Spiders will be able to fill that BioWare shaped hole in my heart now that they've gotten their first big hit. And considering how they improve with each game they release I can't wait to see what they have planned next.

I like that they give De Sardine a pistol for cutscenes, not only is it aesthetic as fuck especially when he executes dudes with it, it also prevents the issue at the tutorial of animations not matching the weapon type. Kurt tossing you a ring and then you acting like you were holding a sword sword was hilarious. It's a nice change of pace from the default swords/murderknives in other games

During the treason mission is it possible to "arrest" all the leftenants without losing any rep? The one on the top floor doesn't seem to give an option for the recruits to stand down.

If you arrest the left tenants then you miss out on the big guy. arrest the main guy instead of the underlings. it also helps to bring kurt with you. i dont remmeber losing any rep when i was convincing the left tenants to stand down

I'd say it depends on what you're wanting out of your gun. If you're wanting big ass burst, then you're going to want a low ROF weapon. Rifles seem to trade less damage for higher rate of fire though, whereas high ROF pistols tend to have significantly less damage per shot than a dueling pistol or such.

yea im not sure its intended. if you press the shoot button one at a time it shows the animation reload but if you spam it, the char just shoots faster. also compare your speed from aphra.

But that also works with high ROF weapons as well. You empty your mag, then spam to speed up the reload, and empty again.

Must be RAM or virtual memory, especially if you didn't close all (or most) other programs beforehand. Generally speaking, Greedfall is not that memory hungry (I think it starts around 3.5GB usage) but I noticed that it doesn't always tolerate Alt-Tabbing and multitasking while it runs.

I also get random lag spikes, sometimes when out in open areas, sometimes when opening menus, sometimes when the game switches camera angles during conversations. I'd imagine between the dependency people had on them already, their vast experience as sailors/shipwrights, and basically having their claws in every nation due to the child trade treaties they'd still be fine. How the fuck do I bind this key? Does it have a default that for some reason can't be rebound if reset? I don't want to redo all the binds but this is really annoying.

Default should be MMB. I ran into an issue where the game wouldn't let me rebind the default key as either Primary or Secondary if I got rid of it while rebinding.

The dialogue writing isn't always super, it's a bit wordy and you often listen to conversations where you know exactly what people are going to say (yet worry that you are wrong and might miss something if you skip), but as a whole the story, themes and characters are very engaging. It misses a few things from its obvious inspirations like inter-companion chatter. Who you choose to accompany you is for the most part inconsequential it seems.
