Because I'm hopelessly bad at it.

>best RTS

Halo Wars 2

literally no contest

you made a thread last night asking for people to play with you fuck off

nobody plays dead games user. its a great game but its dead

>Console
>RTS

Haha. good one.

Wasn't me.

its not dead,
faforever.com/
theres still multiplayer, people still play it. atleast in Euro timezones dunno about US timezones.

Because it's shit. It tries to hide it, but at it's core it's still barely more than a Dune 2 clone. It's designed to reward build order and metastrategy than actual careful micromanagement of a large theater with deep simulation. I'd rather play a real strategy game, one that rewards careful strategic deliberation and planning.

Is it just me or does the game seem to slow down a ton after reaching a set amount of units across all players?

The campaign is repetitive shit, mp is dead

>dreadful art direction
>incredibly boring units beside experimentals
>maps are mostly just flat uninteresting terrain, gameplay wise
>no micro
>units are mechanically boring on top of visually boring due to the above
>most time is spent looking at icons while zoomed out (at least if you're interested in staying competitive and on top of what's happening)
>only really a flow economy management sim which results in an almost exclusive strategy/metagame focus
>but the strategy is incredibly shallow
Because no matter how much SupComfags screech it will never be more than a 6/10, 7/10 at a stretch. It's just a flow econ and pure strategy game, but it's incredibly shallow at it. There are much better games that do this, like Factorio or the more autistic ones like Dominions, , Wargame, etc. All of which are much much deeper than SupCom.

SupComfags have been ranting about their fucking game for over a decade now, if it were so fucking great you wouldn't need to bark so loudly.

Attached: 1548829449655.png (838x720, 387K)

its an old game, doesn't really support multicore or hyperthreading so you need a rather beefy CPU core for huge battles.

Multiplayer is alive, balance patches are still released. google Forged Alliance Forever.

>>dreadful art direction
matter of taste
>>incredibly boring units beside experimentals
I'd disagree. theres plenty of unique units, for example you basic T1 tank. you got UEF tank which is your run of the mill tank, but then you got the Aeon Aurora tank which is more like a sniper than a tank. lightly armed but quick with long range and ability to go over water. excellent to raid. then you got the Cyberan Mantis, which can actually perform field repairs.
>>maps are mostly just flat uninteresting terrain, gameplay wise
Rohan, Wonder... these maps are nothing like you describe.
>>no micro
Micro is a huge part of this game. you can even get down to dodging individual shells with micro.
>>units are mechanically boring on top of visually boring due to the above
What do you want? you have a wide array of unit mechanics. I get the feeling you didnt actually play.
>>most time is spent looking at icons while zoomed out (at least if you're interested in staying competitive and on top of what's happening)
ok, this is probably the first bit of valid criticism I got from you. but you gotta admit this stems from the huge maps. also there is a solution you didnt mention, dual monitor.
>>only really a flow economy management sim which results in an almost exclusive strategy/metagame focus
Economy is vital yes. but you say this as if its a bad thing. and there are strategies beyond economy.
>>but the strategy is incredibly shallow
its an RTS. did you expect some grand strategy?

Doesnt it just feel like a big game of rock paper scissors?

>tfw no supcom 2 with proper pathing

Attached: aa.jpg (900x1600, 121K)

>Economy is vital yes
For such a vital component, it sure is simplistic and undercooked.
>its an RTS
A strategy game with a shallow strategy layer is a bad strategy game. Dune 2 has crunched your brain into a blinder.

Attached: the_incorporeal_clown.png (987x643, 707K)

You must be getting it confused with Starcraft. Honest mistake, both are abbreviated to SC after all.

>A strategy game with a shallow strategy layer is a bad strategy game.
then the genre is truly dead since it has SupCom has more strategy than most RTS I've seen. and I haven't played Dune 2 but if you have to bring up a 1992 game then theres something wrong.

>then the genre is truly dead
Dune 2 clones are, certainly. And thank fucking god. Genre has been clogged with trash like Starcraft, Command and Conquer, Halo Wars and Supreme Commander for too long.

>if you have to bring up a 1992 game then theres something wrong.
I'm glad you see it that way too.

No longer do I have to wade through 50 different hot takes on reskinning competitive spice mining to be some nonsensical analog. Now I can simply cut straight to the chase and enjoy decent strategy games, designed to provoke thought and experimentation, rather than being glorified cookie clickers with lanes.

Attached: UGCW.jpg (1280x720, 266K)

Of course i do.

KeK

SupCom is another league bro.

>trash like Starcraft, Command and Conquer, Halo Wars and Supreme Commander
I wish I could cut your faggot head off with a rusty shit laced saw

Attached: 640.png (288x415, 178K)

Not at all a surprising reply. Of course a brainlet who likes those mainstream, mass produced, AAA pseud games would also put on a cringe tough-guy act on the internet. Purified autism.

Your shitty subgenre is dead. Cry more.

>mainstream bad
Post what you like faggot. Show us your shit show of a good time?

Awful bait

I prefer broodwar and ground control 2 over any other rts. No chance I play some unattractive supreme commander

finished it

>>trash like Starcraft
I didn't knew children could be dropped THAT hard

Attached: 1568555793251.gif (344x203, 3.88M)

but the real fun is multiplayer. why aren't you playing SupCom MP?

>ground control 2
based, no economy rts (''real time tactics'' or whatever ghetto name games with actual STRATEGY are supposed to have) are the best, we need more of these.

i will never interact with anyone online in any way where they can own me, i am unownable

Last I checked in, the FAF team is a little retarded with balance and had advocates for "asymmetrical balance", which is the cutesy term Blizzard used to describe how they "balanced" Starcraft 2.

I think an issue is that they're always trying to balance for Setons, so instead of striving for 1v1 parity across factions, they're trying to block team Monkeylord rushes or prevent Com sniping because having the Aoen Com fucking the middle of the map all game is a core staple of Setons that must be preserved.

>grand strategy
please don't use this term unironically to mean something good

>"asymmetrical balance"
but this is a good thing

I'm busy flying in space atm

Attached: scr00068.png (1920x1080, 1.7M)

No it fucking isn't. It just turns games into tactical decisions of "turtle until t2 when I have the asymmetrical advantage", and that's harder to balance because whoever has the stronger T1 gains a macro lead early on.

In the onld day, that was the main reason Cybran was favored. Their fast tanks gave them better early map control, and what they needed for balance was probably something that mildly offset that advantage - like a tiny range nerf so they HAD to get closer. But instead the balance team focuses on retarded shit like where to put the scathis and how to nerf Beetles.

I don't think it's an invalid approach

It's a valid approach for a prescriptive game the developers want a high degree of control over, and where your basic macro situation is a foregone conclusion.

All Starcraft 2 maps had a ramp to choke with and an easy expansion because the poor balance NEEDED it. Without the choke and easy expansion, the Protoss would get devastated by having a terminally underperforming early and mid game.

Forged Alliance was never intended for the highly prescriptive "Cinematic E-sport" Blizzard convinced themselves they were making. If you're weak at T1 on Supcom, then you're weak for the whole game due to poor early map control. Except on maps that are more chokey and forgiving like Setons.

It shorts the map pool, promotes turtling, and is generally just goddamned stupid.

wut gaem

Woah look at all the icons fight each other!

I play Zero-k because it has an actual good UI and competent unit AI.
I just can't go back to supcom now.

literally every single game ever made, christ what a retard

Dead genre

zoom zoom

WOAH ITS SOOO COOL! THERES SOOOOOO MANY ICONS!!! WOAH

woooooooow look at those pixels doing stuff aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

>samefag

>g*pshit
neck yourself

OH EM GEE OH EM GEE LOOK HOW FAR I CAN ZOOM OUT! ITS SO COOOOOL

Because i'm playing Sins of a Solar Empire, one of the best RTS ever made

Sins is a fucking joke compared to SupCom

Is your computer broken so you have to replace letters with a star or something?

I'd play with you lot, but I admittedly shit at the game.

Would you let me sit at the back of the map and turtle? i just want to watch the battle unfold and lob some nukes here and there.

are you playing on FaF?

wrong

lurk more, gapshitter

Attached: So I heard you wanted to play an ecowhoring game.webm (1920x1080, 2.8M)

where the fuck are the scouts? my god whos the idiot who left the flank open?

I'm not going to keep up with every low-quality post-ironic meme you retard kids try to pass off "not funny on purpose".

For the longest time I've just been assuming you're a frequent poster with Downs.

Is Ultimate General any good?

I like the game, but this thread is conspicuous shilling. Go back to your 2 hour T3 artillery dualgap borefests.

where the battleships at

I didn't defend Gap.

...So I guess the star is just a special needs thing? Or is it sp*cialis needs. Am I doing your meme right?

man you're h*lla f*cking m*d

What is the best RTS in your opinion? Can I have a non-contrarian answer, please. I'm actually out of the loop so I won't be able to tell the difference.

I'm literally too lazy to play RTS anymore

Attached: 134137126213.jpg (625x469, 72K)

company of heroes 1 or age of empires 2 in my opinion

i used to play ashes of the singularity drunk on fireball with my best friend over discord but i think he suicided because i stole his swedish autistic e-girl friend just to dump her a week later
she was a good friend

MOWAS2 anybody?

casualty

Its hard to pick one to crown as the best. but if there had to be one Distant Worlds would definitely be a strong contender.

yikes
one of my online friends took my cousin's virginity even though I loved her romantically and because she was no longer close to me she spilled all the secrets I shared with her to other people so now everyone thinks I'm a pedophile

>the best of something
>non-contrarian answer
Do you think there's some universal consensus on what's the objectively best RTS of all time? But to answer your question, for me, it's Warcraft 3

Attached: Arthaspaladin1.JPG.jpg (185x185, 7K)

You're expending too much effort, newfag

Attached: Mazer drop 4.webm (1920x1080, 2.89M)

I loved fucking around in this game against cheating ai. High level play is so incredibly optimized it's essentially work. e.g. why germans love this so much

Attached: 1568147714711.png (628x350, 432K)

No, it's just people always post obscure shit just for (you)s

first i have to finish the empire earth manual

Attached: old.jpg (580x751, 75K)

I mean I don't get why you'd need to lurk more to get this lowest common denominator stuff.

Memes used to be in-jokes, and you'd tell people to lurk more because the joke's not funny if you have to explain it. But now it's all Pepe and Wojack, which even Hillary Clinton got involved with.

nothing matters and everyone is lame

Because no matter how you look at it, SupCom is just a prettier version of Total Annihilation and in almost all other ways inferior to TA.

Attached: slap-alarm-clock.webm (720x404, 1.2M)

This pattern is exactly a joke that takes two brain cells or two days lurking to pick up on, though I wouldn't expect that much from a turtleshit "strategist".

Attached: Best worst strategy.webm (1920x1080, 2.88M)

Is an asterisk a wojak to you? Maybe you'd get the in-joke if you were actually in on it.

>Woah look Theres so many words, and they're fighting each other

Attached: chrome_2019-09-17_23-33-10.png (194x172, 34K)

My assumption is that it's either another unfunny, forced, post-ironic meme where the joke is that it's annoying and "not really trying so don't judge me". Or that it's just one try hard autistic trying to force a meme because of something he saw on Twitter.

WOW LOOK LOOOK AT ALL THE ICONS!!! STARCRAFT... I MEAN SHITCRAFT!!! LOL DOESNT HAVE AS MANY

If Supcom players played Wargame they would never talk positively about this build order simulator: deathball a-clicking garbage again.

whatever it takes to excuse a webm dump
