I won't lie, I would day1 a reboot of Grand Adventure
Should I watch one-piece
No. You should read it though.
The anime was pretty good up till Enies Lobbies. After that is when the pacing took a massive nosedive. Though at this point if you're actually intending to go through all of One Piece, reading would probably be a better option
You got the GBA game, that's the best you're ever getting. DQXI is the closest you'll get.
When it comes to games I want nothing more than to play a proper one piece rpg that is actually good beyond the fact that it's one piece (cause I'm such a fan of the series that I've enjoyed basically all the games, but not cause the majority of them are actually good on their own). Pw3 is fun and fits the series, but yeah I want a proper rpg in the setting cause the potential is amazing
No, you're too late, the ship has sailed.
One Piece is like Pokemon, either you got really into it when younger and you still like it despite the declining quality, or you didn't and now its too ridiculous to get into as an adult
fpbp
/thread
Or you can go read the comic now, understand what's good about it, and jump ship once it starts going to shit.
>Declining quality
Post timeskip is great, ain't perfect and I obviously prefer pre over it but the quality definitely isn't declining. The stakes for the current arc is insane
>stakes
Who cares about those? The great thing about One Piece was that it was fairly creative and had strong chemistry between the main characters. Now they're all weird cardboard versions of themselves.
read it negro
If you're prepared to sit through the countless hours of the anime, watch it up until the timeskip and then switch to the manga
Otherwise read the manga
They not lol, if you think they're all cardboard versions of themselves idk what you've been reading.
I've been reading the comic where Sanji became a fucking parody of himself and is only now slightly recovering. Same comic where Nami stopped doing anything of worth and now the narrative has to keep telling you that she's great instead of have stupid moments like "she would try to help some kids, wow!" The same comic that reduced Chopper to an outright meme.
Unlikely.
As long as Ganbarion keeps pumping out low-budget, mediocre titles, that sell relatively well, they'll hold on to the license and keep them coming.
Well the manga doesn't have the excellent soundtrack or the audible GOMU GOMU NO, plus Brook is half a character without sound. I do see your point though.
Hey don't get me wrong, OP is my favorite Shonen ever since I started reading it in Jump, I distinctly recall owning the issue with Gaimon. I just get the feeling sometimes that I'm only still reading/watching because I'm too invested.
i wanna have sex with chopper
Unfortunately it's looking more and more doubtful every day
Yeh. Look up ONE PACE tho. It's like a fanmade Kai version that cuts all the filler. Its honestly the best way to watch it.
Can we all agree G8 is the best filler that's ever come from a Jump series?
We got like, 5 to 7 depending on your opinion of Musous.
I love this arc. I rather watch this again than that shitty Foxxy arc
I haven't seen every Jump anime ever, so no.
Best piece of non-canon One Piece material, though. It's better than some of the actual comic pre-timeskip.
Sanji-Yeah the nosebleed gag was kinda eh but only lasted an arc and obviously made sense cause of what he went through. He's always been over the top in that way and whole cake island was a great arc for him as a character.
Nami- Helping massively in whole cake, and some parts in pink hazard were great aswell imo.
Chopper- Punk hazard he played centre stage, also had nice moments in whole cake. But yeah he's been the worst affected of the three I guess
You have to keep in mind that dressrosa was only the third arc post timeskip even if it was long asf with wano being the sixth. There's been plenty of development but the goals of post timeskip is way different than the first, it's literally now time to rise to the top. I will admit however that the gags oda uses like sanji are so so but it's not anything new
I've always had this goofy idea for a One Piece fightan game that plays like GA's story mode; you can play as the straw hats and recruit them as per the story, OR you can play a bad guy and run their fictional What If story, like how in Buggy's Grand Adventure campaign he recruits both Ace cause he's a bro and Enel cause you kick his ass.
It'd be kinda like the Empires versions of the Musou series
Agreed
>Sanji puts on one the best cooking show in the series
>Chopper actually being a medic
>Admiral Robin
>Con D. Orniano
When a filler arc
does a better job utilizing the cast and having them do creative things than the comic over the course of an entire decade, I think that's the point where I stop caring.
Didn't they rehash this arc in the anime with a new filler arc?
If PW4 looks good i will get that, still catching up with the manga though, at Wano were Big Mom broke into the prison Luffy is in.
>tfw physical builds are top tier
Yes, it has some retard with an Oozaru arm, really only good for Rabbit fanservice.
We already did
>tfw soul
Any good Snekman vs Kata gifs?
That's just shameless.
Man, I need to watch that fight in the anime. I've been too wrapped up in jumping between arcs on that One Pace website.
Did you know that back in Skypeia, Sanji had a personality?
Did you remember that back in Skypiea Nami had an actual fight that was really good and forced her to actually be smart instead of waving her plot wand and saying she's smart?
Even for anime (lack of) standards this looks utterly shite.
Not really, One Pace only did the first 5 episodes and I last saw that arc in 2006.
I just want a One Piece simulator game like we got with Dragon ball BT3. My autism flairs up like nothing else when they skip important arcs like Whiskey Peak, Little Garden and up until recently all of the Skypiea saga
>Wano being game original story means we won't be getting cuties like Kiku or Speed
It hurts.
Based post
Read the manga.
Including Bat 'D.Slayer' man would be too OP.
Isnt the anime in Wano and looks gorgeous now? I heard they fired the visual director and replaced him with a goon who made everything look baller.
>Pick Freeza in BT3
>Go through all his transformations like in the manga
Truly better than all those street fighter II ripoffs
>great
>Fish-Man Island not being endless dull exposition
>Dressrosa not being a crime against shounen in general
Yeah Snekman vs Kata has quickly become one of my favorite fights, you can see how Katakuri practically stole the budget from Oven and Daifuku for this one fight.
How is the Wano adaptation going to look like? Dressrossa In PW3 had Blackbeard and co fucking things up, every Straw Hat there and going straight to Wano afterwords
Most OP games are above average. They can't make it about exploration because then it's not canon or just very predictable.
If by that you mean shinier then yes, it's still trash.
We know it starts with Hawkins and Drake at least. Allegedly it's just going to be like 2 where EVERYONE IS HERE.
youtube.com
Yeah the new director is the guy responsible for the latter half of DB Super and Broly'a movie, he also directed Stampede.
Semi related note, I love the direction the OST is going, this shamisen shit is groovy
youtu.be
Dressrosa was great, as a whole entire arc to be read through. Weekly reading was torture. But a as a whole its great.
This may look silly to you and me, but to Zorofags that was the highlight of the episode and possibly the entire arc.
nah that version is awful, bad music cuts and editing in general. Just read the manga and wait for an actual Kai 15 years from now.
Tower Climb against Hawkins was bretty gud though. Besides, One Piece has always done this, one of the earliest instances was when the Meowman brothers were trying to keep Zoro away from his sword, looks almost identical to this scene.
Honestly what hurts One Piece chances at fateful games are the sizes and number of characters. All DBZ and Naruto characters are the same human size with only a couple of feet. However massive figures like Big Mom and Kaido can’t be done justice as playable characters and there’s lots of unique fighting styles
I want a game in the OP world but not a story retelling like most anime/manga games
>game has transformation mechanic
>carrot's transformation is just a green aura boost and her actual transformation is a super
why
i know everyone of you autist and shounen fans had this thought at some point, so hear me out:
How we dont get a RPG shounen Game in alternate universe ever?
Like the terminology it the same and so are the ground structure but you have new characters and new story only.
Imagine how dope a rpg would be where you assemble your crew and go from island to island.
why the fuck are we stuck in the timeline with the shit anime games bare a couple.
Yeah, look the all anime in kai then read the manga once you're at the end of it.
where i am on this chart if just follow one piece because i find robin so attractive that i want to fuck so much that i dont even want to pull out of her vagina ever?
also gib link to robin porn
Yeah something about how Oda draws his ships and buildings look goofy but great at the same time. I particularly enjoyed the heavy inking throughout Germa Kingdom and WCI
No
Read it is preferable
or watch one pace
That seems to be separate from the mechanic Gear 4 fits into. Each character seems to be either a speed, defense, or strength and they get boosts you can use.
Fishman island was just world building and a way to showoff what the straw hats did during the timeskip. It isn't bad it just had this as a clear purpose, it was comfy looking back
You'd have to find a way to do it like Gundam Battle Assault 2, the bosses were flatout ridiculous but you could unlock them on the roster by beating the hardest modes, they were just stupid OP for obvious reasons
I haven't followed One Piece in forever since around the timeskip.
Any signs of Vivi coming back?
Is it even worth catching back up?
Vivi actually did come back, the Reverie mini arc follows her and the Ryugu royalty.
Oh, almost forgot, your nigga Wapol shows up for a sec too, he recaps how he became president of Toys R Us
cool thanks for the spoiler
That depends. The manga has a thousand chapters. However the main characters? They can be summed up as one note with basically no characterization outside of their debut arcs. So no matter what happens Luffy is still retarded. Nami is still a greedy piece of shit cunt. Usupp is still a coward even if he beats the king of demons and monsters from hell he will always pussy out anyways and it goes on.
Can you stomach static one note characters like this for a thousand chapters? If you cannot then don't bother with One Piece. One Piece has great world building, but the main characters are seriously annoying.
epic
I am a closeted fucknut who doesn't know cool niche games like the rest of Yea Forums, so the only pirate games I've found that are fun are the Assassin's Creed ones and that one section in Sly 3. Any other good pirate games? Tried Sea of Thieves and had fun but I don't have a gang of hooligans on standby to play with.
>remember when Zoro used to be a smug asshole that only got serious in battle?
Now he’s a “no fun allowed” serious man that doesn’t even smile anymore
The main cast is basically flanderized. One of the reasons i stopped reading it.
>not being able to see past appearances in a children's comic
embarrassing
I was able to stick it out to about halfway through fishman island before the pacing made me want to kill myself, but really it started going downhill right around thriller bark. You should probably just read the manga and then watch some of the fights just to see them animated.
The series has to be good in the first place in order to get a good game.
Wapol's Omnivorous Hurrah was the cover story back during Skypiea, that's hardly a spoiler. You've had a decade to figure out Wapol was still doing shit in the background.
It's hard to be smug when you get your chest sliced open and realized the vast sea of distance between you and your goal.
that has been rectified in wano
We already did with Pirate Warriors 3, Unlimited Adventure, and Unlimited Cruise
Will we ever get a NEW good One Piece game? Doubtful. I’m already worried about PW4 with the rumors of tons of characters and arcs being cut back from PW3 to focus on post-TS stuff. I’m waiting until the release to make a judgment call though. Nothing I’ve seen so far has really impressed me. The combat looks the same just with new functions and the giant boss thing looks more like a damage sponge timesink gimmick to pad the stage out than anything
he changed after his duel with hawkeyes because he realized just how big the world is and the gravity of what they're trying to do
>>Dressrosa not being a crime against shounen in general
That right there is why I quit One Piece. I hated that horrible arc. I hated the lame characters especially those midget things who felt entitled to stealing people's possessions and acting indignant about it. Horrible characters. And Sabo is another shit character who should have stayed dead.
Another failing in that arc is the way Doflamingo's gang lost. Think about it every SINGLE possibility of something going wrong is exactly what happened to the letter enabling the villains to fail. It was not funny it was horrible "Don't worry we got this backup plan whoops the back up plan failed, don't worry we have another consolation plan to help us....whoops that also failed." And it went on like that for the entire arc. The villains lost because Oda wanted them to lose. The heroes didn't earn their victory over Doflamingo. Also Doflamingo losing to Luffy was bad writing. Seriously, this dude is tough so the only way Luffy managed to beat him is....by cheating. Having Law cripple Doflamingo with that cheap "organ harvest" move of his just so Luffy can defeat Doflamingo just felt bad. To see one of the stronger villains get artificially crippled like that was just painful after all the build up with him since pre-time skip.
By the time this terrible arc was over I was happy to drop One Piece. And I did the right thing because the arc that came immediately after was the Furry Arc where they introduced that shitty Furry Bait rabbit girl. And after that it was the Year of Sanji (one of my most hated characters since he's a pussy begging traitor bastard sellout son of a bitch). So yeah I was more than happy to drop One Piece. It's overrated junk.
Omg people die when they are killed so deep :^(((
I bought 1 and 2 on PS3 to see if I'd like them then 3 gets delisted.
Mihawk made him quit drinking for the timeskip, of course he's been surly.
Now that he can ronin the fuck up and drink like a demon he's back to his smug grinning self.
>When Doffyfags post
Doflamingo in peak condition doens't stand a chance against Gear 4th Luffy.
Grand Adventure on the Gamecube/PS2 is one of the best powerstone clones.
This
>Luffy slaps Mingo halfway across the island
>one of Mingo's subs straight up asks DOFFY WTF HAPPENED
>Doffyfags and Mingo simultaneously; THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW
>the Furry Arc where they introduced that shitty Furry Bait rabbit girl
What's wrong with furry bitches?
could have gone either way. It was a 1-sided stomp once luffy went g4 but that has a time limit and doffy is a tank. Just had to survive the onslaught which he did while already injured
I feel like sanji is the most guilty of this.
In the beginning of the series he was kind like the third character in the quirky and comical group with luffy and Usopp. But when chopper got introduced and replaced Sanji in the three man group, I feel like oda didn’t know what to sanji and just put his dialed his perverted personality to 10.
It's gotten better recently, but yeah, for a good 8 years or so the crew just sucked balls.
Nope
Its good but not 950+ chapters good
Wait until its over and see what people say about it.
PW4 is already good because it has Carrot.
If it were a rpg where you have to choose a class/faction what would you go for?
>Pirate, goal to become pirate king
>Marine, goal to become fleet admiral
>Revolutionary, goal to defeat imu/gorosei/WG
>Warlord, goal to defeat a yonko/s and conquer their territory like blackbeard did.
>Bountyhunter, goal to hunt the pirate king or gather a massive amount of money.
>World goverment, goal to ascend from cp1 to ruler of the world.
>Civilian, hard mode / survival.
I stopped reading at the whole cake island arc.
Are carrot and jinbe part of the crew now?
Yes and no to both. Jimbo is technically officially a Mugiwara but may or may not be dead. Carrot for all intents and purposes may as well have been but Luffy has bigger things on his plate right now and we won't know for sure until she gets more focus.
Read the manga. If you like it, check out the anime. The Funimation dub is pretty good if you don’t want to watch subs, but they haven’t dubbed anything past Fishman Island for some reason(but have still been pumping out dubbed specials). The anime does become a slog right around the time skip though. Pacing wasn’t too terrible until around then when they started turning every chapter into two episodes and it got waaaaaaayyyyyy too cumbersome
He still laughs and shit like when he and Luffy were talking about where Kuma sent them or the party after Fishman Island. The problem is we never get moments of the crew during their downtime anymore. We're just on a bullet train to the next big fight/set piece.
I miss the crew interactions so much. Remember how much Luffy, Chopper, and Ussop used to pal around before the time skip? Now it's like they're barely friends.
watch it with a guide to skip the filler
once you get through the CP9 arc, start reading it. The pacing goes to ABSOLUTE shit since that's when they caught up to the manga.
Depends how recruitment works. I liked how in Grand Adventure they let you recruit the assist guys as part of your MCs crew, for example Buggy or Kuro could recruit and use Johnny/Yosaku in battle. If it works kinda like that, Pirate definitely, I'd sail around recruiting flunkies and have a big crew like the East Blue villains
nami's fights are usually pretty entertaining. Even when she got the improved climatact, she still had to work with strategy.
That one ps2 game was fun. Dont think any of the sequels made it here but it was good. Grand Battle I think it was
It needs a One Piece story that isn't focused on the Straw Hats.
As much as it is a contradiction, but at least in the manga, each step of the crew is meticulously documented, leaving little freedom for them to do anything else (fillers of course ignore this).
Maybe a game where you are a rogue Cypher Pol agent.
Or a smuggler, who liberates slaves at night.
Or a young scientist who enrolled with the world government programme, just to be used as a guinea pig.
Or all of the above and more people, because the formula for One Piece is known.
A bunch of people, each of them having a tragic past, each of them having a dream, join together and become more than family to each other.
Let the Strawhats do the main plot. The world is rich and large enough to have many parallel plots running.
nope , asgard arc from seiya exists
>it’s been over ten years since Nami and Chopper actually had a relevant fight
I wish every arc now didn’t have 20+ tertiary characters standing around eating up the spotlight. At least during Enies Lobby all the mooks fucked off to hold the lone while the Strawhats actually got to do shit
Grand Adventure did, added Ace and Enel plus some others, like Crocodile and Bon Clay are easier to unlock
God I love Robin’s tits.
>It's been over 10 years since the whole crew was actually relevant at a time
I didn't mind dressrosa, but chopper, nami, and robin did next to nothing. same with whole cake, where luffy and sanji were relevant and that's about it.
this, one piece would have been the shit if oda dropped the "no character development ever" idea, because now he can only make drama through all the stupida fuckin side characters and he needs so many that they clog all page space and the SHs, who were great characters in the pre timeskip, are delegated to secondary roles in their own series
Same.
How do one piece games even play like?
chopper and nami werent in 90% of dressrosa
not having every character be combat relevant is actually one of the better things about one piece. Nami is a good character and she's strictly for support at this point
chopper and nami were barely in dressrosa and it was nami that suggested they split up in the first place. In wci nami is the reason luffy beat cracker and chopper/rabbit hijacking mirror world turned around the whole arc. There's more to one piece than just punching harder
sanji used to actually be cool
remember him completely outplaying the shit out of crocodile
There's like 3 games that are just Zelda with one piece characters, then there's the musous, the base ball game, 3 games that are literally just Jump Ultimate Stars with OP characters made by the same devs, a weird open would game, and some arena fighters
arena fighters.
youtube.com
yeah, you're right. I completely forgot the split happened prior to dressrosa.
This. I’d actualky like them to try some cover story wax games. Instead of focusing on Luffy and co focus on minor characters.
One Piece Pirate Warriors 3
