Like many copies of media on various platforms, you own the copy. The tape, disk, cartridge, license, or whatever is yours. You are free to do with it as you want. The only thing you are not allowed to do is make copies of it and sell the copies.

the amount of brain and effort required to copy a car is orders of magnitude greater than copying some computer data. I'd say computer data itself is generic and therefore ineligible to be protected by copyright and trademark law.

for the analogy to apply to cars, a computer is basically a car manufacturing plant. If you have the blueprint then you can produce a car or really any number of cars with the flip of a switch. What makes digital copyright retarded is that the car manufacturer sells you the blueprint and then begs you not to produce more than 1 for yourself.

Are there still demos for games? if I want a test run of the game what am I gonna do if there isn't a demo? Most gameplay videos aren't really showing you how it would feel like playing the game

I bought SFV and ended up having to dispute the charges with my bank to get a refund cause Steam flat out denied me on the sole rule of having played it for a week, even though their refund policy has a bunch of different rules. I supplied video evidence of the online multiplayer being unplayable fucking garbage and they still refused so I just got my bank to refund me and fuck steam.

the short of it is, some games might have open betas and that is probably your best opportunity for a classic 'demo' experience. otherwise most modern publishers are completely fine with selling you on two compelling introductory hours followed by garbage, and the real problem isn't the lack of demos but the quality of games themselves. there really aren't many games worth playing nowadays.
