Is this shit worth it? Are the sticks as unreliable as the joycons sticks are?
Is this shit worth it? Are the sticks as unreliable as the joycons sticks are?
>Are the sticks as unreliable as the joycons sticks are?
Yes. Get an off-brand.
sticks are fine, dpad is not unless there was a revision
Yes, mine started drifting a few months in
Wait really? I thought it was different sticks completely. Is the PowerA zelda wired controller any good?
I'd rather suggest you to get this one instead, I have both but the Zelda one gets its bumper buttons stuck all the time
I have three pro controllers and no problems so far. My friends use them in smash and action games so we put them through some shit.
It's better to get a pro controller than 1 or 2 joy-cons
It's better but that's not hard when joycons are such trash
dpad is my only complaint
The pro controller is good, got hd-rumble and motion controls and the sticks don't drift. Dpad is weird as you need to be very precise in order not missclick.
I thought the drifting was only an issue on the joycons, why is no one talking about it with the pro controller?
Not as good as this one was.
It's 100% worth it imo. Bought one 2 and a half years ago and not one problem.
Sticks feel a lot better than joycons, but the D-pad is total trash
I've seen people mention it too
Get it. Anything is better than a joycon.
my left stick is tight and squeaks/rubs a little.
think i just need to get to the underside of it and clear it out, but the screws are super tight and i only have a trash tier driver set on hand.
My sticks are fine, no idea what the problem some people ITT have had with it
holy shit the dpad is so bad
i'd rather just have buttons like the joycons
Becauseit happens to only a few handful. Not all mass produced products are made the same.
I have the Splatoon version of that and the left stick drifted after 6 months
one thing good thing to come out of WiiU
that shit battery last forever
or maybe because I never play my WiiU so it never ran out of battery
are these branded hori's any good? they're all i can get my hands on in my area
>all these answers that contradict each other
Well fuck
Dpad is kinda squishy but its a good controller over all. The 3rd party ones aren't bad either, I like them better for things I'd rather use a D-pad with. Don't know what people are on saying the sticks are unreliable. They're probably just really unlucky because I bought mine second had a couple years ago and its still fine with tons of use.
My experience with hori's has always been OK. But I haven't tried those controllers in specific.
I got a pro and some Zelda-themed offbrand I got for pretty cheap. I prefer the pro because of how solid it feels. It's got real heft and doesn't bend of creak at all if you try to twist it. So many controllers feel like toys compared to it
Would anyone recommend the GC controller for Splatoon 2?
>Symmetrical sticks
no, it lacks motion controls so you're automatically at a disadvantage; on top of that, you don't have an L button anymore and the C stick has a massive deadzone for aiming
because most people are lying out their assholes to rail against nintendo when they complain about joystick drift on joycons, it's been a known issue since the console's launch but the moment kotaku puts out an article about it (years after the fact) suddenly it's a pressing issue that MUST be ADDRESSED NOOOOOOOOOW
>gloss finish
>symmetrical sticks
>power button in the middle
The only good thing about the Wii U Pro was its ridiculous battery life
Get the 8bitdo SN30 Pro plus
only thing it doesn't have is Amiibo support
can back this up, thing's about as good as a pro controller and is fully-featured (except nfc and "HD" rumble) despite being significantly cheaper. just don't expect its 8bitdo usb-c cable to last, the thing's design is terrible
Dpad is shit thats about it but, still for 70 everything should be perferct on the controller.
It's garbage and small, miles better than the joycons but still garbage.
Mine is fine desu, if joycon had the pro controller's stick quality, they wouldn't drift
Dont get this version of it. The plastic is McDonald's toy quality, not even joking. Mine also can't even register more than 3 button presses at a time.
best controller since the wired Xbox 360
Well shit, guess it's time sell Splatoon 2, because my joycons are drifting is getting worse
just get a 20 dollar adapter for you ps4 or xbone controller
Dpad is garbage and I'm not a fan of the grip. Compared to the xbone controller, the additional space the switch pro controller dedicates to its battery makes my hands uncomfy.
But seriously, how'd they fuck up the dpad so bad? Checked older Nintendo consoles and handhelds and found no issues with those.
If you have a PS4 buy a 8bitdo adapter the DS4 has all the PRO functionality outside of NFC.
sending joycons to nintendo for them to fix it for drift is free, and extends past your warranty
dpad is shit
the rest is really good
They're more reliable but they'll still start drifting pretty early. Didn't even make it a year before both sticks started drifting. Why can't nintendo make a decent controller? This is so stupid
Unless you bought a pro controller that's like one year old, there's no reason for the dpad to be fucked.
Don't know why this issue still comes back.
Is there a good third party controller with gyro aiming for botw etc?
A hori controller maybe?
>tfw the drift is real
God fucking dammit can it be fixed?
I got the one that came with smash bros special edition. Works fine. I play Kirby with it all the time.
You can send it to Nintendo and they'll fix it
I have two. I like them, but god damn sometimes I feel like I have no control over what direction I'm pushing the D-Pad or the Right Joystick in Smash.
haven't had an issue since i've been using it.
Tempted to get the 8bitdo but the sticks look the same as the joycons so I'm on the fence
It sucks that no third party controllers are as fully featured as the pro controller. You're basically forced to buy one unless you want a worse experience. It just sucks because they break down so quick
>Checked older Nintendo consoles and handhelds and found no issues with those.
Original DS, original 3DS, and the GameCube D-pads were awful.
Because it doesn't happen. Also the D-Pad shit has never happened to me but I guess that could be a case of "works on my machine." That being said I hope Nintendo gets sued over the joycons.
They're pretty good. Just get them used since 70 bucks is way overpriced
I'm pretty sure the drifting issue with the joycons have something to do with trying to cram analog sticks into a small form factor. I'm not saying it's impossible to do or defending Nintendo for failing to properly RnD a pretty crucial component like this, but it should mean that the Pro Controller isn't going to suffer from the same issue.
Incidentally, I've never heard of those issues with the Circle Pads on the 3DS, but everyone still seems to hate them for some reason and took the "proper sticks" on the joycons as a major selling point until they realized they're unreliable. Why is that? I never had a problem with them.
A bit off-topic, guys. But I bought xbone controller today to play on PC and goddamn it is still runs on batteries. AC and wire costs as much as controller itself. Why xbros are such cucks and tolerate such things? thank god I was PS user whole my life.
Eh, symmetrical sticks are good for some games IMO, basically stuff like shooters where you're going to have both thumbs on the stick the majority of the time. What makes me confused is the fact that most of those games aren't on the Wii U anyways, and it's a bad layout for most of Nintendo's own games.
No they’re not. They’re way higher quality than the shitty joycons
Do they not have simple wired controllers anymore? I got a wired 360 controller for PC for like 20-30 bucks back in the day, it's still working great.
Why the fuck does your retarded ass not own rechargable AAs?
The wireless ones are the wired ones now, it's just instead of breakaways now they use any microusb cable you happen to have on hand.
Its fantastic, one of the best controllers ever made. Build quality is better than Xbox one controller. The triggers aren’t good for FPS tho. The D pad is usable but does have annoying issues with diagonals. These don’t affect most games. Overall its essential for any Switch owner.
Not him, but I have so few appliances at this point that actually use AA batteries that no, I do not have any rechargable AAs, and it probably wouldn't even be worth buying any for a controller if I needed them.
>Why the fuck does your retarded ass not own rechargable AAs?
In fact I do, but that's incovinient to recharge them every 30 hours instead of just plugging a wire. My PS3 had AC controller and the newst xbox doesn't lol.
Dropped mine from lap height onto a fake hardwood floor and the fucking shoulder button cracked in half
apparently the fixed pad from the xenoblade one got but into some of the second wave or regular ones, but not all. so even checking the sku it was a lucky dip.
I didn't get lucky, but i also avoid platformers
The pro controller is definetly higher quality but still not good enough. The dpad is bad because it constantly reads 2 inputs unless you're tapping the directional buttons directly on the tips and very slowly at that which makes it a nightmare in games where precise quick inputs matter. And the the sticks start to drift after about 9-10 months of regular play and by regular play, I mean about 3 hours a day. I wouldn't mind if the controller was cheaper but at $70 this thing should at the very least last a damn year. Just because it's better than the absolute pieces of shit that are the joycons, doesnt mean it's good. It sucks too because the controller feels great in the hand.
did vita have issues with it's teeny tiny analogs?
Other than being ridiculously susceptible to pocket lint, they're ok. Kinda wish they had L3 R3 though, just because PS4 games stick that shit on the front in remote play.
It did, but I have no idea how widespread it was. There just wasn't enough people using Vitas for it to become widely publicized or investigated, I suppose.
>I wouldn't mind if the controller was cheaper
This. You don't normally have to make controllers that are capable of surviving being run over by a tank, but if you price them at twice what they should reasonably cost then they better be at least that sturdy.
