How many of those matter in the long run? E3 leads in world premieres and viewership that's what counts. The next best thing is TGS and it's so padded you might as well wait the event end to see the 3 or 5 videos with new footage.

Yes I know, this might have been a long time coming, but I feel like the straw that broke the camels back might have been Sony's abandonment of E3 after their flute concert that they called a video games showcase. It just feels like E3 wants their shows to become another Microsoft self managed tent, like how Bethedsa's conference for some reason had people cheering at games already known, games already launched, and garbage DLC for games that are already bad. E3 wants companies to be able to speak freely without being criticized at all. E3 wants a hugbox. Some companies already had that, but now it feels like they want it for all of E3.

Sony wasn't there this year because they're deep in development on the PS5 and weren't ready to show it yet, and don't have anything new to show of the already announced stuff so it would have just been a re-tread of last year. And the writing's been on the wall for E3 for several years at this point, don't pretend like this is only happening because they pulled out. EA, Electronic Arts and Disney have been gone for years.
