Should I buy it? The controls seem weird.

I'm playing it right now and it's really solid. I was expecting a realistic skate game though.

The bad reviews are probably from people who were expecting a skateboarding game where you could do stuff like backflip christ air.

Realistic how?

Skateboarding will explode in popularity after the 2020 Olympics
Skate 4 will happen

I want tony hawk underground 3

>The controls seem weird
Wasn't this always advertised as a Skate-like game? Are the controls any different? If it's the same, then it'll take a bit to get used to but it they feel natural after the learning period.

It's a more grounded version of Skate. The big focus is on potential realistic lines (think Tre Flip down a few stairs or Kickflip to Smith on a rail rather than the high-flying stuff from THPS games). The controls are slightly more obtuse than Skate (each thumbstick controls a foot rather than one stick for jumping/tweaking and the other for turning/spinning), but it feels surprisingly natural after a half hour or so.

tldr if you thought Skate was realistic, this is even more so.

Tony owns the series now
he could walk up to literally any publisher or begin a kickstarter and get a new game going

The question is, who could be trusted? Neversoft has been dead for a while now, Robomodo tarnished the series for several years, and the cost of licensing music would eat through most of the budget, because it ain't Tony Hawk without a kick-ass soundtrack.

Platinum.

>only thing they can make are third person action games
nah

Nice

Tony hawk should just license 80s,90s, and 2000s songs again because its cheaper and id rather listen to that than the modern mumble rap theyd he forced to put it due to lack of options

They're streaming it, the game looks good visually.

>older music
>cheaper

Except it's not. Labels are usually stingy as fuck with classics, where some relatively newer artist wouldn't have the cachet to negotiate higher royalties.

Luckily, most consoles let you play your own music over whatever is in the game, so it's kind of a moot point.

>if you thought Skate was realistic
I hope to god no one here believed that was the case
Even hardcore mode on Skate 3 was far from realistic

It's a stick per foot instead of just one stick for tricks. Took some getting used to, as someone who only knows the Skate system.

It depends I think.

>Luckily, most consoles let you play your own music over whatever is in the game, so it's kind of a moot point.
Yeah, they could just copy what Dangerous Driving did for their soundtrack, though their official playlist was shit because they just put their favorite classics in instead of music that goes well with fast driving, but you can just use your own.

Watching all the Skate 3 babies cry about the control scheme is entertaining

Just play the .midi of the songs in the game

Isn't that just Tony Hawk's American Wasteland though

Kinda what I was expecting, Skater XL has the better gameplay but this has the better everything else.
Some real monkeys paw shit
