there

Incorrect.

They must not be mirrored versions of each other, illiterate-kun.

just flip the wood over

it doesnt say you have to use all the wood.

Attached: easy.jpg (256x384, 93K)

there

four identical pieces

Attached: file.png (256x384, 103K)

That's illegal in St. Mystere

Wasteful. Keep trying.

>muffled "I HAFF TWELVE MATCHSTICKS" in the distance

Thanks for not falling for my bait, and sorry for calling you illiterate. I'm having a bad day.

ok

Attached: less waste.jpg (256x384, 93K)

Why the fuck didn't you just cut 4 tiny squares then?

because then they'd be mirrored versions of each other.

Again.

Attached: niggerpuzzle.png (256x384, 90K)

easy once you realise each needs to be 9 blocks large

Attached: fuckulayton.png (256x384, 58K)

HA got it. Don't know if I should post it.

its 8 blocks user...

aaaaaa fuck you.

Not identical. The markings on the wood are different.

...

None of those are mirrored versions of eachother, they are flipped versions.

I'm probably late but fuck it.

so close yet so far user

flipped = mirrored you neandertard

All of these solutions are mirrored
This puzzle is written very poorly and under its strictest interpretation is unsolvable.

Easy, fuck you Layton

Attached: Screenshot_20190917-152239__01.jpg (1080x1629, 309K)

they aren't mirrored, you can rotate them to be the same without flipping them.

Rotating isn't the same as reflecting fag

Go cut out any of those shapes and see if you can create another one by holding them in front of a mirror. You can't.
They are merely rotated around.

they're symmetrical pieces and therefore mirror images of one another. your solution is invalid.

Correct.

What the fuck are you talking about? A circle and a square are both symmetrical, that doesn't mean a circle is a mirror image of a square.

Go get a mirror and cut out the shapes. You will see

ok big guys what about this one?

Attached: fuck you.png (256x384, 99K)

Please post more puzzles, I live for Yea Forums Layton threads.

And?
Every solution posted has at least two pieces that are mirror images of one another. The question is poorly worded.

Are you joking? The two middle pieces are mirrored versions of one another, as are the outer pieces.

A CIRCLE IS A MIRROR IMAGE OF A CIRCLE YOU FUCKING ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SHIT

ROTATE A SQUARE 90 DEGREES AND IT'S STILL A MIRROR IMAGE OF ITS ORIGINAL ORIENTATION

ok this one is easy.

Attached: baby mode.jpg (256x384, 96K)

More like post easier puzzles none of this cutting up shit
give me the metchsteek

>without rotating

Attached: file.png (256x384, 71K)

Once again quite doable once you realize that the rectangle needs to be 1x15 or 3x5.

Attached: uaintnothinglayton.png (257x385, 67K)

Get your eyes checked.

It doesn't say 'without rotating' anywhere you stupid cunt. Die.

It doesn't say anything about having to use all pieces, just that you need to "turn diagram 1 into a rectangle."
The game probably wouldn't accept this solution, though, 'cause it's Layton.

Attached: technically correct.png (256x384, 66K)

try reading the words again you fucking moron.

it says the pieces can face any direction, each piece is facing one of the four main directions

GO GET A FUCKING MIRROR YOU NITWITS

You guys don't know what mirroring is and therefor you start posting dumb shit like this. Maybe look it up online or get a mirror. There is NO WAY you can put any of those pieces in front of a mirror and see one of the different pieces in the mirror.

If they're identical then there is always a rotation where they're mirrored you retard

"without flipping either of your 2 pieces"

You don't know what mirroring is.

And?

None of the solutions posted is valid if you consider they can't be mirrored. This is a fact.

On cut down vertical, one across the horizontal. How is this supposed to be hard?

Please show me how any of those pieces could possibly turn into one of the other pieces when you hold them in front of a mirror.

What it means is you can't have two "identical" pieces that are actually flipped over.

like an "L" and an "r"

Not that user, but that's not true. Think about an L shape.

2 of those 6 pieces are not the same as the other 4.

How are those pieces not mirror versions of each other? The way the puzzle is worded, it's impossible.

>no mirrored versions

Because fuck you, welcome to St. Mystere.

what the puzzle wants to say is all the pieces have to be the same without mirroring, which is possible in due to rotating

they aren't mirrored versions of eachother because they are the exact same as eachother, there is no other, mirrored version of them.

Consider the two Z blocks in Tetris, they are mirrored versions of eachother, but are not rotationally similar.

What it means is that you can't create another piece when they are MIRRORED.

Here:
>img2go.com/rotate-image/6457a54b-53c5-4ce8-9a51-513c0e148ab2

When mirrored ALL the pieces look the same as they did before. They do not become OTHER pieces.

there's nothing wrong with the wording of the puzzle, people just dont know the difference between mirroring and rotating, and how symmetry works

I agree already.

my friend, never call me a nitwit again or you will REGRET IT

Attached: 1.jpg (256x553, 19K)

ok here is an easy one

Attached: candles.jpg (256x384, 50K)

Ten candles. This one is classic Layton bullshit. It never asks how many LIT candles.

10, you pedantic little shit.

3
imagine not having a brain

i remember this one being so stupid fuck what was it.

In the end, nothing shall remain.
10.

You don't know what rotation is.
It works in all three axis, in case you didn't know.

>there are people in this thread so fucking stupid they legitimately don't know the difference between rotating and mirroring

Attached: dixie.jpg (240x180, 7K)

>candles
Presumably all ten. Three of them just aren't burning.

TWO BECAUSE THE FLAMES MELTED THE OTHER ONES HAHA

you still have ten

not when we are clearly talking about flat objects laid on a plane you retard autist.

Attached: EA1B155F-A584-4BE5-B99B-2013AA5CE6CE.jpg (256x192, 10K)

duuuhhhh I just rotate the whole puzzle on the W axis and make it disappear. too easy, layton.

how are those not mirrored
was it a translation error?

>fags arguing semantics when the puzzle was clearly referring to asymetrical pieces with that statement
>still arguing despite the puzzle having been solved half an hour ago
I have to share a board with you fucking people.

boskeletonrp

user please don't be such a retard.

The answer is 3.

Attached: 1386363471501.gif (480x270, 865K)

how the sweet fuck aren't those mirrored?

fucking bullshit, they just decided to make the most uncommon solution to the puzzle the correct answer instead of the common one

They can't be only mirrored, as long as you can rotate them into each other it's fine. It's like the 2 L shaped pieces in tetris, they are mirrored but you can't rotate them to be the same shape.

correct

Attached: ropes.png (256x384, 136K)

3. The 7 lit candles will completely melt away while the extinguished ones will remain.

no it fucking isn't fuck you.

None?

That limitation was never specified in the puzzle. It doesn't even make sense to consider such a limitation when the puzzle is specifically talking about a sheet of wood, which just happens to be illustrated with a shadow underneath it, something that only makes sense with at least three dimensions. What a coincidence.

Attached: moving-the-goalposts.jpg (300x240, 29K)

>They can't be only mirrored, as long as you can rotate them into each other it's fine
so then yes, it's a translation error and the problem was mis-written. As written in english the puzzle is unsolvable.

It doesn't say anything about the candles being lit. The only candles that went out are the three that were blown out by the wind. The other seven. burned to nothing, so only the three remained.

okay retard.

suck me dick

15? I dunno

yeah, so in my mind it should be 10 candles. The answer given makes sense, but isn't particularly a puzzle.

Is there a trick for this one or what? I'm not going to spend my time tracking down each coin.

Smart user. Respect.

Holy shit

10

9 coins on the top for you, 23 coins on the bottom for the funny merchant

No it isn't you dumb fuck.

In the end obviously means the heat-death of the universe. By that time there will be 0 candles left.

Attached: hint1.png (237x159, 3K)

Yikes.

thanks Layton, very cool!

This "puzzle" made me stop playing the game

Well, at least they are nice enough to tell you that at hint 1.

Yeah okay you can suck my dick layton

Yeah, someone else can handle this bullshit.

0
all the coins will be next to the rope, not above or below
fuck you layton

just imagine that the coins are in rooms and the ropes are walls, it is easy from there.

I'm thinkin bout thos coins

sorry, the puzzle wasn't too difficult for me, i just saw this clue, and realised the game was just going to be a frustrating waste of time from then onwards.

Do you think flipping and rotating something is synonymous?

Post hint2 and hint3

>so you end up with 4 identical pieces
under the strictest interpretation you could just cut out 4 squares and you'd have 4 identical pieces, since it doesn't explicitly state that you have to not have any pieces left over

so it's not a puzzle at all
next

in retrospect I shouldve counted the squares and divided by 4
>tfw you will always be brainlet

ok do you like this one?

Attached: chairs.png (256x384, 114K)

E

E, because they can be stacked.

you literally had to add words to make a solution possible you dumb fuck

E, stackable.

E is the only stackable one

>dont mirror
>is perfectly reflected across a vertical line

Attached: 1539969930025.gif (463x698, 174K)

D, It's the only stationary one that cannot be moved.

c
you can roll it around and have jousting events

I was going to say E anyway because it's the most basic, minimalistic design, thus most multi-purpose design of all. But the guys who replied it's stackable are probably right. Good catch.

No no no, give me the HARD shit.

>sporting events

E because it's cum-colored.

a because it stands for audtorium

correct

Attached: moon.png (256x384, 133K)

C, the cheeky fuckers expect you to confuse 100 and 600 grams.

B because of the weight of the tray also being afected

D.

>when you dont get a single puzzle in the layton thread right

Attached: 886E0DE2EBBE41F99B728A04863559D8.jpg (960x960, 58K)

B, 1/6th gravity and no atmospheric pressure.

I'd go with e the only ones that can be stacked

a 0 grams space is weightless

Gonna go with C, but I feel like there's a catch here. is probably too far-fetched for Layton.

based fellow retard friend

C, grams are a unit of mass and mass doesn't care about gravity.

>inventory_management.png

this was my thinking but I'm sure the scale still relies on gravity to make its measurement

but the scale does, and the question is what the scale will show

Less than 100 since gravity is a little bit less than 1/6, it'll be like 98.5g.

In reality, you're right, but this is a Layton puzzle. Physics are a passing pleasantry.

Radical 6

So uh, what's the answer?

You have already been infected.

Attached: solution.jpg (256x192, 26K)

fuck

How dumb are you? Just follow one side of the line and count

>not rezeroing the scale in the low gravity environment
What the fuck kind of joke instrument is this doing on the fucking moon

Why didn't you post Puzzle 45 from the SUPERIOR American version aka the version filled with other gems like GECY NW

Attached: 1568509214278.png (512x768, 41K)

is it a compass?

Is it actually a question mark?

This is bullshit. Might as well go with the atmospheric pressure excuse that other user came up with.

>This is bullshit
no, it's literally true

The puzzle clearly shows an analog counter, which means the weighing is done by means of a counter-weight, which ALSO weight 1/6th of its weight on earth.
The scale should read 600.

ngl this is the shit I throw all my hint coins at.

Compass
This one was fucking retarded

man must be hard being this retarded

I'm honestly stuck on "opening a hole in a sheet of paper." What does that even mean?

now that you mention it...

Attached: chocolate.jpg (273x424, 49K)

>so that you end up with four identical pieces
They never said you couldn't have 2 extra pieces on top of that.

Fuck me

Fuck you!

I'm guessing the low gravity fucks the scales somehow

I refuse to do puzzles in video games. If it takes me more than half a split second to figure out I look it up. I'll fight a boss for hours, I didn't sign up for this stupid shit.

I thought it was one of those scientific seesaw scales.

I don't get how the fuck do you solve that. Well, you have bites. I guess you have to offset the lettter depending on where the bite is. And that's all.

The design on the bottom part of the box looks like panties. Also, post hint 1 or something.

It's based on keyboard lettering, seriously.

what the fuck it never said anything about the scales being set to Earth gravity

Fucking hell.

How many kids with nintendo ds even knows how is keyboard looks like.

Is it something to do with choosing numbers by pressing a letter multiple times like on an old flip phone

that she wants you to push her buttons

Damn. Drawing compass.

0, you can't make a circle without cutting the paper
I'll be angry if the answer is 15 circumference

The message is to get a girlfriend with actual communication skills.

the answer is the 3rd one, he just hides his extra size under his hat, so you can't see it

60. The circumference of this semi-circle becomes the radius for the new circle.

Why do you think it could or couldn't be 15?

Attached: 1541710714683.jpg (250x240, 10K)

0, you can't fold a paper to make a perfect circle, shut the fuck up gayton

I guess you could calculate the radius of this circle and cut out a circle-2 with diameter equal to that radius.

this
(30/pi) equals the current diameter. If we use the paper as a drawing compass, the diameter becomes the radius which makes the new circle (30/pi)*2pi = (2*30*pi)/pi = 2*30 = 60

Just realized it says circumference and not diameter so I'm a retard on that point. Regardless it's fucked still 0 don't make me angry

It's going to be this. Some stupid shit like "You can rotate the semi-circle around one point, tracing the outline of a new circle"

>but you cannot cut it

at puzzles like this i just put in random numbers, that are related to the original in.
barely worked

i can't recall, was the pictochat keyboard ordered by qwerty or just the stupid abcefg thing?

i fucked it up on purpose because kids shouldn't get the D

Assuming that the third candle went out because of the wind and not because it melted into nothingness, I would say 3.

>The archive is dead
Can't fetch the solution image, even on the onion link. Welp
The answer is 15cm
If you think on 3 dimensions, you could make a cone out of the semi-circle, and the base would be the half of the full circle, aka, 15cm.

Any normal functioning human being assumes you zero the scale before weighing something.

15 cm

OP

The top has both a mirrored AND a rotational symmetry. Don't be a dumbass, elementary school kids can see that.

that is BULLSHIT
FUCK YOU LAYTON

If you bend the two corners together, the semi-circle edge becomes some sort of retarded oval so Layton will say it's 15.

Here. They're not mirrored, they're literally the exact same piece.
Puzzle doesn't specify you need to cut all of it

Attached: 1568311025056.jpg (256x384, 90K)

15, it never specifies that it has to be a filled in paper circle, and honestly even that answer is bullshit considering you could just use the paper to draw a circle so the size is unlimited

Nevermind I was able to fetch it.

Attached: 1553148653801.png (1080x960, 2.08M)

Golf?

These old puzzles are shit but in a good way. The kat ones are actually all stupid and the answer's always 0 or 1

Oh. I just used the radius of the old circle as a diameter for the new circle to get 15.

Isn't this some cone shit

Volleyball?
Badminton?

Foul ball in baseball?

Yeah, Kat's game was the first Layton game that didn't had Akira Tago as the puzzle master, may he rest in peace.

6 if you can reuse a whole stack

>Re-use the top off the three for the 1 (still 5 total)
>Move left to the 2, reusing the top off the 2, and adding one more sandbag (6 total)
>Finally, using the top of the first 2 and the 1 to fill out the final 2 (still 6 total).

I swear to fucking god layton, if you're up to more of your god damn bullshit I will end you

5? Put three in the one on the right, two in the one above, then go up, left, up, fishing back bags left behind you as needed.

Wait, shit, I counted one double. Oh well, 7 then.

Good job user.

If he can get the bags from the bottom of the river, why can't he just walk across it?

Attached: 1506019913447.png (300x300, 30K)

But that would make the hole task useless, because you'd get wet as fuck? I can understand fishing the top bag back, but not one from lvl3 depth.

WELL GOOD THING YOU GOT ACROSS WITHOUT GETTING WET

YOU IMBECILE

YOU MORON

HOW MANY SANDBAGS CAN YOU STICK WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE

HINT: THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY NEXT

WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT OF CROSSING OVER A RIVER IF YOU ARE GONNA GO BACK TO THE WATER TO RETRIEVE ALL THE BAGS?

See, you guys fell into the number 1 trap in Layton games: Logic does not apply.

I love this puzzle.

Attached: 1564591795101.png (465x478, 52K)

NO, THE TRAP IS THAT LOGIC DOES APPLY, BUT SOMETIMES ITS IN UNCONVENTIONAL FORMS, SINCE THE LITTLE SHIT CAN ALREADY DIVE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE RIVER TO GET THE BAGS THEN HE DOESNT NEED THEM AT ALL TO CROSS THE RIVER

It's going to be some stupid shit with spelling out words with numbers, isn't it?

>This thread
It would appear that once again my superiority has led to some controversy.

Attached: 2935728396.jpg (336x512, 53K)

Just put any number in those blank spaces. Use modulo arithmetic on whatever system +1 the result is and there you go.
Like 134953+1 mod 134954 = 0, fuck you Layton.

>HURR YOU'LL GET WET
The puzzle did not say you cannot get wet. The puzzle also asks what is the LEAST sandbag if USED as stepping stones which means crossing via other means like swimming or jumping is obviously forbidden. Kill yourselves.

Why is she so boring? To this day her dad causes outrage but I have to get reminded she exists.

>Swimming and jumping is forbidden
>Diving to get a fucking wet sandbag out of a river is allowed
>Not to mention feasible.

>put one sandbag in the river as a stepping stone
>carry it across the river
>get wet
>make it to the other side with 1 (one (uno)) sandbag
Literally blown the fuck OUT, Layton.

Seems like the puzzle was ignored due to anger lol
Would you like a clue?
The first number is 2

You should read the instructions before answering.

None of these puzzles would ever apply to real life situations, because they lack information about the circumstances.

For example:
Why would nobody tell you that you're dealing with a clock? ()

Fuck Layton and fuck these non-logical puzzles.

>I graduated in computer science and this shit was made to piss people like me off.
What, you think that in real life people are always going to tell you that you're dealing with a clock? Some day you're going to pull data out of a poorly documented API and it will be up to you to figure out that the number under the t_un key is the number of centiseconds since January first, 1960. Are you going to be ready to deal with that junk or are you going to be pissed off all over again?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1440x1102, 205K)

they have to be identical without being mirrored
< and > are mirrored but can be rotated to be identical
but something like L and J (just imagine the J with a sharp right angle instead of a curve) are mirrors but aren't the same no matter how much you rotate them

How exactly do you spergs interpret the word "identical" then?

How are people on this board this retarded
Can you think of any shapes that are identical but not mirrored??

>can rotate
>can not mirror
obviously you need to cut shapes that become their mirrors just by rotating them 180 degrees

can not do this

can do this

Read the fucking text, retard. It says they CAN NOT be mirrored. It's just a mistranslation.

Read the fucking text, retard. It says they CAN BE ROTATED. It's just that you're a brainlet.

They CAN be rotated. They "MUST NOT VERSIONS OF EACH OTHER". In plain English, that reads like a rule that says MIRRORED VERSIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
You failed. Kill yourself.

>MUST NOT BE MIRRORED VERSIONS OF EACH OTHER

Impossible, the wood grain texture will look different no matter how you cut it.

it's called "context," and it's a critical component of English comprehension that you apparently lack
>hmm, this dictionary has several meanings of the word mirrored
>i'll pick the one that means "smash a mirror over"
>no mirrors, no smashing, two cuts and I'm done!
this is how retarded you spund

The dictionary doesn't have several meanings for "mirrored", neither does it have several meanings for "MUST", which is the critical word providing context here.
What a prime Dunning-Kruger specimen you are.
"Must not" is a definition of a rule - Something that cannot be done. This stipulation is a mistranslation which completely breaks the puzzle.
It should have said "You can rotate the pieces, but not flip them".

Do you have to use up all the wood?

Unwound Future > Diabolical Box > Curious Village > Last Specter > Miracle Mask > Azran Legacy

What an objectively correct opinion. Extra points for not even mentioning the newest game.

>The dictionary doesn't have several meanings for "mirrored", neither does it have several meanings for "MUST"
Oxford, Webster-Mirriam, and Cambridge all beg to differ, offering seven different definitions of the verb form of the word "must" alone
maybe you thought they meant one of the nouns? certainly sounds like you're high on something fermented

Go away, autismo. Why is it so fucking hard to admit that you were wrong?

never mind, I realise that was a dumb question

Yeh, cept I jus did 15/2

Football and golf

It would weigh 100 grams but wouldn't the scale's mechanisms also be affected by the change in gravity? Although, there'd be no way to guess that so C

>tfw no gadget-loving, technophile gf that gives you autistic riddle chocolates

>grams
What the fuck is this third world speak?

because baiting you is teh funnay

>I was merely pretending to be retarded
Whatever you need to tell yourself, user

Each handkerchief will get a distinguishable red corner, of a different size, 5 will get a red cross in the middle (5 is underneath.)

These fucking threads man.

A lot of CompSci """problems""" are super situational word problems that doesn't tell you exactly what went wrong when submitting it

>OMG! KIDS PUZZLES YASSSSS
>GOTY GOTY GOTY

Looks like Layton broke another one boys.

id kick your fucking teeth inbif you ever said some shit like this in prison

Was it ever explained why Layton has such a hard on for puzzles?

That's true, but you're too retarded to read apparently, because that poster was pointing out that every solution given DOES have explicit mirroring, not rotation.
Show me the solution which has mirrored but not rotated pieces.

But that explanation applies to this solution too, and many others which are also apparently "wrong"

This is the most efficient (i.e. wastes the fewest squares) I can find which satisfies the constraints of the problem as stated. I don't think It's possible to do better but I don't see a good way to prove it.

Just kidding, there's a better one already in the thread here and I'm dumb for not reading the thread to find it

Here's a version of the puzzle that's solvable with the same rules with no waste. Professor Layton if you're reading this I'll sell it to you for 10 dollars.

imagine being this triggered about a kids game lmao

This, I literally had this question come up in a job interview. Thanks layton.

I can't imagine how smug someone must be to ask a Layton style question during a job interview.

What kind of job interviewer asks you to solve a puzzle?

Pretentious-ass tech companies like Google do
