Seriously how the fuck are you supposed to kill this guy. I can get through Genichiro and his first phase without getting touched then once he pulls out his massive bullshit stick I get fucked. The only other boss I struggled with was Lady Butterfly and that's because I was retarded and thought you had to beat her to advance over the broken bridge passed the chained ogre.
I even shamelessly looked up videos on youtube and still can't beat him someone explain what I'm doing wrong
Press L1 and R1 with the right timing. Sekiro isn't a Souls game, it's a rhythm game.
Lucas Young
During the first phase be extremely aggressive and break his posture asap. His moveset is very limited and you can get it over with very fast with a simple attack-deflect dance. The only thing you need to be aware of is his unblockable deflect counters, and how to cancel his Ashina Cross into a sweep you can easily punish.
The second phase is where the real fight begins. There are no tricks to winning it, you'll just have to git gud. The only advice I can give is to focus on very defensive play and keep deflecting his attacks. It lets you build up posture damage on him because he keeps attacking and rarely stops to regen, if ever, and helps you to keep your own posture damage lower, as opposed to you attacking him after every deflect. Your posture naturally regens as long as you don't attack, dodge or sprint. Deflecting only pauses it briefly, but build sup posture damage on the boss.
The third phase is identical to the second, but you're given free damage on the boss with lightning reversal.
I fou d the spear forms easier than his first phase. Pretty easy to deflect the spear and you get free posture with the easy mikiris and lightning reversal
Owen Phillips
And a sword and a gun
Adam Brown
Just take your time and punish his jump attack.
Juan Peterson
just did much better than usual with 's advice although I've never gotten the lightning deflects to work outside of the dragon boss where it hands them to you on a plate
Isaac Turner
He's a smart guy.
Easton Harris
Jump, get hit by the lightning in the air (just get hit, don't try to block, do nothing), R1 before you land. You still need to time the jump right, so you wouldn't get hit too late on your way down, you still need some time to be able to swing in the air after you get hit. But the boss phases with lightning reversal are basically freebies.
Luis Powell
Started playing this and its amazing
Jeremiah Howard
FUCK ME I WAS SO CLOSE THEN I GOT GREEDY AND TRIED TO FINISH QUICK INSTEAD OF JUST CONTINUING TO BE DEFENSIVE
The trick is to jump a bit late so you get plenty of time to do the reversal, if you jump to early you'll be on your way down when it hits you and it'll be harder to do the reversal before landing
Easton Davis
it is a rhythm game, hurr durr
Kayden Brown
I cant for the life of me beat the fucking owl, legit fought him like 20 damn times, how the hell do I kill him, not even fucking amygdala on that shitty chalice dungeon on bloodborne gave me so much trouble.
Brody Cooper
hesitation is defeat
Mason Brooks
Learn his moves because they can be really trick. He sometimes holds his sword or spear in a thrusting position but does a sweep instead or trick into thinking he's doing a swipe when really he is thrusting. Other than that just parry and manage your posture bar.
Mason Johnson
very few people cleared sekiro, people who have good focus, and weird thing is it is very easy for them and the cant undestand the fuzz.
Focus, that's all you need for this game, any other approach won't work, if you can't focus, get excited or distracted easily, this is not a game for you,
in other words bad game design.
Austin Reed
Imagine it as a seesaw, when he starts going down immediatly jump up and spam attack.
Sebastian Cooper
the demon is by far the worst boss in the whole game
Isaiah Cruz
Play defensively, don't even bother getting his posture up. When he does that jumping attack where he slashes straight down you can dodge it by dodging right as he brings his sword down, that will give you a free hit. His anti heal bomb is also a free hit if you dodge to the side, it also allows you to get a free shuriken hit in. Make sure you're always in a position where you have room, so if he's working you into a corner dodge or jump out.
Lucas Green
Pretty much. I could fight Isshin, Owl (both of them) and even Monk all day but DoH felt like a chore every time i had to fight him.
John Ross
doesn't blocking skip the shocked animation?
Angel Murphy
The trick is to get up in his face and parry everything. You can parry (or mikiri) everything for no damage. Don't run around him, just face up to him, maybe give him some room when he goes on that 7-hit combo where he chops the spear down on either side, but that's all
actually he does have a sweep that you sometimes have to jump over
Noah Nguyen
I swear those flowers are what made the fight that hard desu, ever since i fought him in an area without them he felt really easy.
Xavier Fisher
because those three bosses are designed perfectly for Sekiro’s combat system and accentuate the game’s unique qualities. they really are quite well done. but then of course, they just had to throw in a bloodborne leftover. as soon as you think From may be moving forward, they inevitably show that they can’t escape their past. it’s a shame.

>There are no tricks to winning it, you'll just have to git gud. Stay medium distance away and he'll only ever either do the jump, gun, jump combo or the gun, attack combo. Use the Umbrella to block and the Projected Force skill to attack.
Jaxon King
The worst? It is the best one. At the end of the fight I was enjoying myself.
Why did he do it Yea Forums? :C
Blake Gutierrez
Protip: You can parry any attack that doesn't cause moonrunes to shit out of his ass.
Jaxson Sanchez
>I GOT GREEDY AND TRIED TO FINISH QUICK The only reason why this boss is really hard. When you think about it his patterns are easy to learn and read. The problem is that it's a very long fight and you need to stay focused all the way through because it's very unforgiving; one mistake and you gotta start over.
Now this motherfucker here is a different story. I swear to god there are times during the fight where the game simply decides you have to die, so he pulls a "nothing personnel kid" out of nowhere.
You can even parry some attacks that do. Like, for example, Snake Eyes' grab can actually be deflected despite being a grab. Also, all thrust attacks can be deflected by default. Mikiri is just an upgrade to the thrust attack counter, but it's optional.
Chase Howard
Mikiri the thrusts, dodge and get in a few free hits when he does a jump, use the mist raven to get out of his combos if your posture is dangerously high. In general use guard to recharge posture when you get some breathing space. When he runs at you shooting with his glock you can get in a hit at the last second before he swings at you and that usually interrputs him, pretty useful. The third phase is the only hard one really, in the fourth you can just reverse the lightning a few times and hes dead.
Jack Anderson
I don't really know how to beat his spear form, by the time I beat him somehow, I had never figured it out.
Wyatt Murphy
Personally blame the use of the prosthetic. It’s useful and strong as fuck but the fact that it’s essentially ‘fueled’ by the karma you get from killing just seems real risky. Doesn’t help that he was real close to turning before he lost his OG arm.
Thomas Price
lmao fucking retard
Tyler Gray
This could also imply that you didn’t have to “focus” in previous Souls games, which checks out considering how they had summons and greatshields and way less complicated combat in general.
Aaron Young
Souls games and Bloodborne are way harder (if you don't grind-overlevel and don't use summons) because you actually have to time your dodges and manage your stamina instead of just being able to parry everything endlessly without your posture going past 99%
Sebastian Miller
Abuse mikiri counter in 2nd phase and only 1 slash of empowered mortal blade after his jump leap. In final phase pop eel liver and abuse shock attack. No cheese for this fucker, I beat him 3times for platinum
