I've had my first run with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in early 2008, played Clear Sky that I borrowed from fren of mine and on release and the same case with Call of Pripyat
Played whole load of mods, from L.U.R.K. to Narodnaya Solyanka, Lost Alpha, Oblivion Lost and many more. Though what I can definitely say is, that MISERY, which I played since the very first releases, fucked me up pretty good as what I want from a proper stalkan experience, not really being able to play anything even remotely close to vanilla way of gameplay
Shit changed once I revisited Clear Sky in ~2017, since it doesn't really get that much modding love like other entries do. Played the shit out of it with bare minimum of mods and since then, I can play basically any S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in whatever state that isn't MISERY-like, though I still love MISERY dearly
Give to my advice and replay CS with as few flavour mods as possible, if vanilla still ain't to your likings. Then the whole world of the Zone is opened to be embraced once again

I played stalker on release and it was fucking shit, i was expecting some long survival horror type game with monsters and various factions but all i got was bugs out the ass and constant crashes with the game not even lasting a few hours

nothing ever really comes close to what this game feels like, honestly. looking around old ruins for artifacts whilst staying on the look out for enemies is extremely comfy. plus, the things this mod adds give a nice "professional survivalist" feel.

All I can come up with is, if you ignore Battlefield and Call of Duty games, ignore Metro for being tad similar to Stalker and also be bit more liberal with the triple A thingy and generally genre is:

>Prey
>Deus Ex Human Revolution
>Titanfall 2
>Far Cry 3
... and I can't come up with honest good, worthwhile FPS games that don't have some glaring shit at them. Thoughn there'd be more questionable contenders, if you'd look pass some of the issues
