A solid turn-based RPG with nice visuals and a somewhat traditional story that still has a few good twists in it. It's also pretty goddamn long.

A Dragon Quest game. Also the most beautiful world ever crafted in a video game in my opinion.

I had way more fun with it when I sort of cheated with an exp multiplier to speed up the grind a bit.

Nothing really wrong with that, it's not like grinding takes skill or anything.
Hell the most common way of grinding traditionally is just farming Metal Slimes, which might as well be the same thing.

I disagree, it took me like 95 hours to beat Persona 5 and I fucking loathed that game it got so fucking bad halfway through

DQ11 is also a really comfy, relaxing game where I didn't notice how fast time flew by while playing

Did you play p5 on ps3? I did and those load times must've added on 10 hours to my time. I was at like 90 when I finished

For him you'll just want to keep kabuff on your party and kasap on him
He'll keep blowing away your buffs with the blue orb, so you'll have to set them up again

Death by thousand cuts, like zooming out of buildings and not smashing your head on the ceiling. Overworld was shit, towns were tiny, dungeons too easy, cast too weak, music lacking, crafting to simplified, but I liked that monsters were visible.

I think I had Hero, Hendrik, Rab, and Serena

Serena and Rab can help heal and keep you topped off, Hendrik has Kabuff, and Hero is his usual multi-purpose self

Maybe start the fight with Hero and Rab pepped up so you can hit him with your big super-fuck-you attack that they learned

The boss hits hard, but he doesn't have a particularly expansive HP pool so it's just a matter of hanging in there and dumping the damage on him

Yeah i tend to agree with you that it is weaker than 8 overall for most of the reasons you listed but after 15 year wait i was just glad to be playing a DQ game again. Atleast the waifus were decent.

Enabling harder monsters is a must I take it. Anything else? I'm gonna play it for the first time on my switch, and I don't have any real experience with the series. Liked the demo so far.

Is it safe to say in dragon quest all heroes are male in canon? Some of the games allow a girl but the dialogue always treats them as a man anyway so why'd they even bother with that option?

I really wanna get it again. But due to circumstances I pretty much know that if I get it now at launch I either won’t enjoy it as much or not beat it for pretty much the same reason I stopped playing the PS4 version. Other things are distracting me and I need a solid 3 months to beat a game this long. It released at such a terrible time for me.

I can’t agree with IX. The silent protagonist thing really doesn’t work for the entire party. It’s one of those it’s fun with friends games.

I have avoided most info about DQXI. How do you learn abilities in this one? Does it have All Trades Abbey, skill points like DQ8 or just regular level up and people learn their own unique stuff?

Ill never buy into that "Jade is basically your sister", she was there for a little bit just after the mc was born and then you don't see her ever again until mc meets her in game. I know she says that she wants to be a big sister or something but that means as much as when any child says they want to be something, you grow out of it or more likely forget you even said it.

Also Gemma is the worst, she could have been good but she is basically irrelevant to the story once the MC leaves the town, i would take the autistic knight over her and i hate him

P5 animations and transitions are at least 30 hours. Add menus and filler dialogue and you get 70 hours of wasted time.

Stronger monsters is harder than all other settings combined. Only enable it if you want to make a long game way longer and potentially way more frustrating.

But user, if you own a Switch, I strongly suggest you wait a few more days and try pic related first. ESPECIALLY Dragon Quest III

Just enable stronger monsters. If you're not very good at turn based rpgs you can always grind if things get too tough. Default difficulty is too brainless to even consider.

No, enable reduce XP, townsfolk talk tripe and party dies when hero dies. Also, the base version of shypox. That will be a good challenge for a newcomer. You will almost certainly disable strong monsters later in the game and will have to start again if you want to make your game reasonably difficult
