I want a SWAT game based on that but you play as Section 7 instead.

FF7 is Cyberpunk.

>Open World RPG Ghost in the Shell game

sounds good.

It's more Dieselpunk

>deiselpunk
>no deisel to be found anywhere
>energy source is instead some bullshit magical mcguffin
No, it's not. If Midgar being a dystopian megacity with robots and shit didn't tip you off, Jenova should have.

Attached: Jenova_AC_2.jpg (1280x720, 91K)

Jenova is an alien though

ive only watched a bit of stand alone complex but gits seem rich with content to build a game around. i like the cyberpunk aesthetic and gits:sac gets it right with a cool looking future world with interesting technology and characters. get to it, japs

And?

It's aesthetic is dieselpunk, not the fucking power source.

The aesthetic is clearly cyberpunk. Do you have eyes?

the funny part is fossil fuels do exist in their universe but it's some long-lost but still superior form of energy people had forgotten about until Cid uncovered an ancient airship.

You dont have to specifically have the namesake energy source to be in the aesthetic. It's not really cyberpunk, it's like someone ripped off Eberon Magi-tech and mixed it with Dieselpunk.

>totally not cyberpunk
>dark gloomy futuristic city with Neon lights, and a strong class seperations
>nope, not cyberpunk

It's cyberpunk blended with high fantasy, but still cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk has been dead for like 20 years

LOOK AT HOW NOT CYBERPUNK THIS IS GUYS!!

Not only that, but the entirety of FF7 remake part 1 is in Midgar
I don’t give a shit about your akshully bullshit, it was clearly inspired by Cyberpunk and Cyberpunk is clearly what the devs intended. It has Cyberpunk themes and tropes, and Kitase himself said that Midgar was supposed to be Cyberpunk, whether they actually created the game with the Cyberpunk genre faithfully is another question but if they say it’s based on Cyberpunk then it’s based on Cyberpunk no argument

Open world high fidelity RPGs with customizable protagonists are a western thing. Japs don't have the budget for that most of the time.

Oh, the zoomer is talking about the Remake. I thought you meant the original one.

Maybe the first 5 hours

It was inspired by 90s anime Cyberpunk, not western 21st century Cyberpunk

looks like a normal city with that huge thing in the middle

Not only that, but Deiselpunk is more like Mad Max, and REQUIRES by genre definition that Deisel be the primary energy source. Deiselpunk is basically Steampunk, but replace steam with deisel, and clockwork with Desert Punk Rock aesthetic.

Cyberpunk on the other hand doesn't rely on an energy source for the aesthetic. The primary angle is the class division, and a futuristic dystopian and gloomy cityscape. Both of which are present in FF7

I mean't with a set protag. That being Major herself

That’s not even official art

GitS isn't really for open world format. GitS game would fit more on a level based stealth game like Metal Gear Solid.

The original was Cyberpunk too. You'd know if you played it.

You don't get to call me a Zoomer, when you don't know what defines Cyberpunk and Deiselpunk.

Still Cyberpunk.

If you'd played FF7, you'd know that Shinra is on the top disk of Midgar, and that the city is layered on top of itself.

Hell, the genre is so broad that even Lain is considered Cyberpunk

>GitS
Nah
>Akira/Megacity 23
Now we’re talking

>fit more on a level based stealth game like Metal Gear Solid

just reskin metal gear rising.

Why did zoom zooms suddenly obsess over cyberpunk? Was it because cyberpunk = blade runner memefaggotry was so potent now every bored kiddie replicates the format with slight variations?

People need to understand that cyberpunk is not "neon rain city" but story about politics, transhumanism, mega corpo and religion concern about human body/machine, they souls and how humanity is changind using they own creation. Its not just, hurr durr neon and rain. Its only background god damnit.

Astral Chain is pretty Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk NEEDS a city to be Cyberpunk, but the stylization of that city doesn't need to be so strictly defined. The idea that hurr durr FFVII isn't Cyberpunk cause "it's not a MEGACITY stylized like Akira or Bladerunner," is retarded and thoroughly limits creativity. I mean, Midgar is an incredibly imaginative city within the Cyberpunk genre.

I mean, Matrix is Cyberpunk as well, but a gloomy rainy city with Neon Lights isn't even the backdrop. It's regular city in modern times, with the future being ABSOLUTE decay run by machines, and tiny little spaceship thing for the majority of the setting.

>Ghost in the Shell
Ugh..? Gay! Though I admit its aesthetic could be nice in a vidya.

>The original was Cyberpunk too.
He says as he post the most diesel punk city on the game. You don't know shit, m8.

my checklist for cyberpunk content:
-rainy
-neon light
-futuristic city

What he means is the extremely specific type of Cyberpunk like Bladerunner, Ghost in the Shell and of course 2077. The type most familiar and attributed to what defines Cyberpunk.

People who think that's all that constitute cyberpunk need to stop being such plebs and expand their tastes and exposure. Cyberpunk isn't so narrow, and several Japanese games exist with that aesthetic.
That's like, basic bitch tier level of understanding of what Cyberpunk is.

GITS is overrated.

even so it would make a good game setting.

cyberpunk isnt about the aesthetic you pea brain

It is. Aesthetic conveys theme you stupid moron.

many good things are overrated, that does not make them worse though.

the vast majority of the games were not in this aesthetic, but i will grant you that the remake is, yes. That's cyberpunk, No, final fantasy is not generally a cyberpunk game.

Hell yee

Synthwave was a mistake.

No, Final Fantasy isn't. The first 5 are hard High Fantasy.

VI is where it started to get experimental. Not sure where to place that, but it was a blend of Deisel and Steampunk mixed with Fantasy. Tbh, I haven't played this one yet, so I'll leave the labelling to people who have. But that's where the shift happened.

VII took it one step further, and mixed Cyberpunk specifically with Fantasy.

Then VIII was weird.

And from there, the rest of the series decided to blend Fantasy with various levels of Sci-Fi Aesthetics.

I believe XII was the one that was very Steampunk Fantasy.

And idk what to say about X, it was just Sci-Fantasy, kinda like VIII, but with a strong Oceanic theme/aesthetic running through the whole thing.

here's your cyberpunk

Attached: 1.jpg (1920x1080, 1.2M)

Oh yeah, I wanted to add, but forgot to cause I got too caught up.

FF as a whole isn't Cyberpunk, but VII most defnitely is, yes, even the original. Not just the remake.

I wonder if there's stuff you can do in some of those buildings

How the fuck would GITS work as open-world? You open-world niggers are retarded

Play Ruiner.

Attached: 1539852553931.png (1920x1080, 3.33M)

Is it good though?

would be good since japanese devs would actually make it cyberpunk themed, instead of just pretending like You Know Who

It's the only twin stick shooter I liked.

Japs don't care about western garbage and neither should you
