Anyone here played the closed alpha? How does it run on the base PS4? How's online? Also, what's the deal with the blue revenant graves? Are they just friendly NPCs, like red revenants? Or are those actually player "signs"? Seeing how they cost ochoko cups. Can you summon people anywhere now instead of just at the shrines? I wouldn't want to waste the cups on just some artificial idiot help. How's the new weapons and mechanics? Really wish they did a multiplat release this time, but oh well. I might pick it up on release, if the game performs well on my PS4. Looking forward to living the dream of being an oni girl.
I never got an Alpha invite (bastards) but the blue graves are indeed AI helpers you can summon that are based on players like revenants. You can find a place to put yours down and get cups from people summoning for help. The only thing I know about online is that you can have two players with you in missions now.
Thomas Fisher
Oh, so the cups used to summon the revenant actually go to the player who put it down instead of disappearing into nothingness? That's neat. I still doubt the usefulness of the AI controlled partners, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to drop down yours in front of a boss for some free ochoko cups, while you're minding your own business, if you can select where to place them.
Landon Campbell
I think it's just a better than nothing approach for those without online. Hard to say just how helpful they are but you actually reminded me that in Dark Souls 3 I would count on them being crap and summon them to beef up boss HP so if it does the same for them here I might take advantage of it. I'm quite sure you pick the location, yeah.
Luis Garcia
Never actually played Nioh on PS4 besides the beta for the first game, and honestly don't quite remember from the PC version, but don't you need to be online to be able to see the revenant graves in the first place? Or could you do that without PS+ too? And why the hell would you want to buff the boss' HP on purpose? Although I'm not sure if summoning did the same in Nioh. I didn't play co-op that much to notice. I know there's apparently no level restriction though, and you can be summoned into a lowbie game and oneshot everything.
Ian Perez
You can see player graves without PS+, but I was more thinking about the NPC ones there since they'll be in there too. >why the hell would you want to buff the boss HP on purpose? For fun, I get to fight it longer and Nioh has huge issues with enemies dying too fast. I know Yokai Realm with Companion buffed HP and more, but I don't think summoning did. Now I think about it, at the TGS stage demos it didn't look like it did it either, but there's no frame of reference. But yeah there's no level restrictions at all in 1.
Jaxon Wilson
Are they doing timed exclusivity again for PS4? That’s bullshit but whatever, I’ll keep playing Iceborne and pirate Memelands 3 while I wait. Was considering buying Nioh 2 but now I’ll just pirate it as well
Samuel James
that'll show em
Sebastian Garcia
youtube.com/watch?v=dS-Lnqq5u9s This nigga has the best TGS demo playthrough. The new anti-demon bith slap parry is hilariously broken by the looks of it, though you still need to time it right or you will get wrecked.
Caleb Morales
>don't want to double dip and keep my PS4 at older CFW for possible pirating >know that i will double dip and update anyway
Can you join your friends without having played the missions in this one?
Owen Lewis
I was thinking the same thing, the timing doesn't seem like much of an issue though since you only need to learn and react to specific telegraphed attacks, and it seems to be it's own attack as well as a parry. Kinda feel like yokai skills lowering their max Ki is too strong as well but I don't know all the details with that.
Jack Baker
>This nigga >dengeki online
Anthony Phillips
If you mean unlocked but not played yet then you could do that in 1.
Jonathan Hill
i finished nioh and still dont understand its combat. All I could get is you are supposed to recover stamina with RB and spam attacks non stop.
Jackson Bailey
It's less like Dark Souls and more like a brawler. You have a basic light-light-light chain, you can stunlock lesser enemies with, and a triangle finisher you can change, based on your skill tree. Also you're supposed to guard to break the enemy chains on you before trying to dodge out of them. Unless you (or the enemy) gets hit in the back. Then they'll eat the whole chain at increased damage taken too, even though the guard is omnidirectional.
Isaac Morris
The yokai you're fighting are a lot stronger than the ones in Nioh 1 by the look of it, it's only fair that you get a few powerful tools of your own to compensate for the fact there's no spammy overpowered LW movesets.
Nathaniel Torres
>there's no spammy overpowered LW movesets Aren't there? What about the yokai trigger? It's pretty much LW under a different name.
Juan Watson
Is Nioh 2 will be PS4 exclusive or just like the first one?
Jacob Clark
Played on Pro. Was fine, 60fps mode again. Ui was more or less same, a bit more stylized. But that was months ago, so expect changes. Demon mode was prwtty nice, seems like quick op move to cause some dmg. Rhere wasnt much of new weapons I think. Level design felt more or less same too as first game
Dominic Thompson
It sold a fuckload on PC, what do you think?
James Phillips
Atm ps4 only. Might be pc again after some months
Hudson Morgan
Yokai trigger seems to be far more nuanced and less prone to mindless spam than LW. Each yokai form has its own abilities and so far there haven't been anything nearly as broken and busted as LW Reaper or Moonlit Snow. You get dunked out of yokai shift very easily too.
Camden Morgan
They still make you effectively invincible for the duration and hit super strong. I'm sure with the right equipment you could make a potentially broken permanent yokai build just as well.
Chase Long
So why there is no preorder in Steam? Just a Ps4.
Michael Edwards
So we have hatchets and naginata-scythe weapon types. What do you think we will get next?
Julian Moore
They actually don't hit all that strong, not even compared to the spammy bullshit of early game LW.
>Anyone here played the closed alpha? No, these cunts gave access to pleople who let the codes rot in their emails instead of giving it to people who played the previous one
Nicholas Parker
No one cares
Benjamin Morgan
So the game will most likely span for 40 years. Wonder if it's our MC who will kill Tokichiro when his ambitions will go out of hand.
I unironically did, I liked Tokugawa's presence and enjoyed the story. Got blueballed with some of the interesting characters though. The three DLC stories are really good too, I love the setting they chose.
No. I’m playing for aesthetics, gore and 1 button dash evasions
Luis Russell
>He still wants to plat nioh after the nightmare that is platting full edition Nioh 1
Jackson Lewis
The first DLC was great. Didn't like the levels in the second DLC though, it was just more war torn battlefields with human enemies. Pretty boring. The third DLC was just the continuation of the second, which improved things, but just a little. Speaking of which. >Lady Maria's plot line just ends without any resolution >Nioh 2 is a prequel Welp. I guess we'll have to wait for Nioh 3.
Asher Cox
>Lady Maria's plot line just ends without any resolution this is one of the things that pissed me off the most, felt like she was gonna have a later return and then Nioh 2 was announced as a fucking prequel. Hope Fuku's in, atleast.
>Nioh 1 platinum >a nightmare ??? Although I've heard PS version has different trophies compared to PC.
Parker Gray
>spend 20 mill in the shop >get obscure super-rare items with lottery-tier droprate that only drop in the two highest difficulty cycles of the game >wreck through 20 floors of abyss >do that batshit DLC arena mission
>not hard
Justin Edwards
If they ever stated her age in the first game, I don't remember, but she definitely doesn't look the part. Even then, Nioh 2 takes place, what, like 50 years prior to the first game? You'd need to have a diametrically opposite fetish to want her in, compared to why you liked her "character" in the first game.
Jacob Thompson
>spend 20 mill in the shop What's hard about that? >get obscure super-rare items with lottery-tier droprate that only drop in the two highest difficulty cycles of the game Thankfully the drops can be manipulated and abused. Otherwise it's the most bullshit achievement in the game probably, but not that bullshit by far when it comes to some other games. >wreck through 20 floors of abyss That's easy. What kind of a baby do you have to be to get as far in the game and still be bad at basic combat? >do that batshit DLC arena mission Those are just level/gear checks, you're not supposed to rush them the moment you unlock them. Come back to them lataer and roflstomp them with overpowered equipment.
>protagonist is half-oni >the story begins in 1555 when he's already a mercenary >one of the TGS demo missions happens at the time and place of Nobunaga's death >the story will probably go all the way to Hideyoshi's death >they will probably justify the fact he won't visibly change for 40 years with his oni powers giving him fuckhuge lifespan Getting some Sengoku Youko flashbacks.
The important question here is why that piece of shit game got a sequel. It was easily the worst Souls clone I've played
Blake Williams
one question, is RNG weapon upgrades still there?
Asher Brooks
I'm the one asking questions here! No idea. And I don't think the beta has crafting anyway. Or does it? Seeing how it's basically Nioh 1.5, it's probably in. Gotta spin that gacha machine, user.
Michael Smith
It's clearly a prequel, you fucking dumbass.
Lucas Clark
>Anyone here played the closed alpha? yea >How does it run on the base PS4? seemed completely fine to me on action mode. I'm not a huge fps autist tho so I don't notice smaller dips, the game seemed steady 60fps to me.
>Also, what's the deal with the blue revenant graves? Are they just friendly NPCs, like red revenants? Or are those actually player "signs"? players put down those graves but you summon an NPC version of them. Summoning real players is still done from the shrines.
John Bailey
I hope the demon hunter qt will get more screen time than Okatsu.
