Pretty sure FF15 and KH3 have people worried about Sqenix's ability to deliver, and the episodic format means a lot about FF7R is kind of up in the air, I think it makes sense for people to be worried about FF7R, people have been since it was announced.
That said, all the recent reveals have made me a bit more optimistic about it. I hope it's good, but I'm not going to hold my breath. We'll see how "part 1" holds up.

If I were in charge, I would make the first game a fully explorable Midgar, the second game begin with the Nibelheim flashback to the Weapons waking up in the Northern crater, and the third game going from Tifa waking up in Junon to the final battle with Sephiroth.

I would imagine that now that they're in some sort of a groove, have all the shit with the engine figured out, and have their assets put together, they should probably have a much quicker time getting them out from here on. I would say it will probably be a 2-3 year wait between games. There's no fucking way they would let another five years pass between parts 1 and 2, that would be suicide for them. The FF7 remake was always SE's panic button, so there's no way they're going to treat it lightly, it would destroy their image.

The promise was a big deal to Tifa in the original game too. She was very upset when Cloud forgot it.
I'd say her character in the OG was built around water tower promise. She thought Cloud forgot their promise & unsure about his new persona in the first part, the reason is Tifa kinda forgot what had happened in Nibelheim incident too.
Later in the lifestream (which they mistranslated it to English), she remembered Cloud was there with her and he already fulfilled his promise.

The point being Tifa always remembered it subconsciously all along, she just didn't sure why? And only realized the truth in the lifestream. Jp texts were clearer on the part.

They're not going to change the promise in the remake because it's the whole point of their relationship.

Played the game first time in 1998 when i was a teenager and many many times after that. I'm really excited for the remake. The latest trailers and gameplay videos have improved my opinion on it. The big question is how much customization the remake's materia system allow.

You know what I didn't like about Advent Children and the remake trailers? Sephiroth giving damn about Cloud. Jenova taking the appearence of Sephiroth did mindfuck Cloud some on the cargo ship, Nibelheim basement, Temple of Ancients and finally at Ancient City, but it was more like higher being trying to act superior to lower being. The biggest manipulation and personal fuck you was the illusion Jenova put up on the first time Cloud and co went to North Crater when Jenova tried to convince Cloud was just a puppet created to act on Sephiroth and Jenova's order. Real Sephiroth never gave a damn about Cloud. Even when Shinra grunt Cloud was able throw Sephiroth off to mako stream, Sephiroth never deemed Cloud as worthy adversary and when you finally meet real Sephiroth in the end before Bizarro Sephiroth fight, Sephiroth was all about how he is becoming superior lifeform and didnt show any personal grudge towards Cloud. Jenova having access to Cloud's feelings and memories did play the part according to what Cloud feels, but even then in the original game, Sephiroth or Jenova pretending to be Sephiroth never actually show any personal antipathy on Cloud. Cloud is just a tool to them. In AC Sephiroth was all about how he wants to personally antagonize Cloud and I think that ruined his original character.
