The "being pushed" part is about how it's presented, sometimes not even by the people involved in making the game. In a vacuum, there's nothing wrong with a badass feMC blowing up bad guys to protect what is precious to her. The issue is that if you, the advertisers you hire, games journalists or a sufficiently large group of dickheads on twitter start talking about how it's about a STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER AND YOU MISOGYNISTS NEED TO DEAL WITH IT, then it becomes a problem. There's also other parts of context that can matter. A good example of something that rubbed people the wrong way was Watch_dogs 2, where they had a perfectly servicable protagonist replaced with a group of diverse hipsters.

A lot of games that explore fascism tend to do it in ways that are compelling and highlight the positives and negatives as well as what kind of conditions would create a scenario in which fascism would be a desirable form of government. Not a video game but think how humanity would likely go extinct without the strict rule of the ecclesiarchy in WH40K.
Conversely, you can make a compelling setting in which communist systems are desirable as well. In Star Trek, technology advances to a point where humans of the federation have no real need to covet material possession but everyone still does their part working towards common peace.
The problem really only arises when a game picks a premise and reaches a conclusion before the story is even formulated, giving a very lazy representation of the issues and very transparently exists only as a means to circlejerk to whoever shares the politics of the author.

in some capacity I actually do care about the type of people that make the games. They are the ingredients to the product, and there can potentially be a group or a single person that spoils everything. When I'm viewing a trailer or an interview with the devs discussing their game it gives good insight into what they want the game to be. A good example is Bungie while managing the old halo trilogy would tirelessly prioritize making things fun instead of graphically impressive where as 343 went vice versa as they took the helm and saw the game's future in a pretentious light that nobody but the new devs wanted.

If I thought making a video game would combat my political "enemies", I hope someone who knows me would slap me back to my senses. I could count on one hand the number of people I know who have changed their views because of a fucking video game, because that number is zero.
