From an analytical perspective how high is the skill ceiling in this game?
From an analytical perspective how high is the skill ceiling in this game?
Pretty high honestly.
There are a lot of characters with seriously untapped potential, and very few players are even able to master or make the most of out of any character.
It's higher than Sm4sh but its still kinda boring to watch and most characters feel like one trick ponies. To be honest this game doesn't feel as good to play with how snappy they made it but also having the most input delay in the series
>smash is easy to learn but hard to master
Is this true, or is it something that compfags say to make them feel better about themselves?
That's bullshit, that could only be said for melee due to how autistically high the bar has been set for that game by being played for as long as it has
I still hate the way physics feel and like mentioned, the input delay is somewhat unforgivable.
not very. It's an ocean wide but not very deep
>the most input delay in the series
How about you stop using a GC controller you animal
Don’t let comp fags and Melee trash fool you, adaptability is this games strength
Also thisIt literally half a year for faggots to discover that Piranha Plant has a ledge trap exploit and that’s only because they ignored him for being “bottom 3”
Depends on the Smash
I dont understand how the skill can be capped at all seeing as there is quite a bunch of mindgames at high level play; the only limiting factor is your opponent.
>competetive Smash
Hard cringe
it's a 1v1 game with lots of options, so the ceiling is pretty high
that literally applies to every competitive game, particularly fighting games
Decently sizeable. Not really any high execution demands to raise the ceiling like most fighting games, but the size of the roster does demand a high high high level of game knowledge and adaptability to deal with running into random good characters you haven't gotten to play against much.
It's not like the characters are incredibly deep or complex like a game like Tekken, and playing a good character can make it easy to cover lots of matchups, however your fundamentals gotta be on point. Things like edgeguarding and ledgetrapping take knowledge of airspeeds, hitboxes, etc. recovery options,
Yes bit smash ultimate isnt lacking in options like injustice 2 for example
You can say the same of rock paper scissors
IMO its the projectile charaters who have the highest skill ceiling, belmonts, young link and mega man

True, however most play these characters at their skill basement
This
Shulk and Falco players continue to surprise me despite the fact that their characters are mid/high tier. Dont let tierlists fool you on anyone except little mac.
I actually cringed
This.
Managing opponent recovery is where the skill lies in the game and what really divides players.
Despite the fact that I hate that shit with a burning passion I have to agree, their gameplan is arguably the hardest to pull off properly at higher levels because it requires locking your opponent (who knows what you can do and what your options are) out while knowing when the best time to go in so you don't get immediately hard punished because of your lack of decent up-close options is
Except for Snake who has godly close options
High skill cap characters have been running the meta lately
Characters like Peach, Joker, Rats, Snake, Megaman, and Shulk
Only godly upclose option on Snake is dash attack imo (still the best zone breaker in the game though)
All of his tilts and especially aerials have insane lag
Higher than your current skill
>High skill cap characters have been running the meta lately
Of course they have, the people who play them are at the ceiling, or at least very near it
Even then there's always the chance that some dude discovers some godlike character-specific tech and then shit goes out the window
Accurate
Also PT
Then again, "high" is relative to other characters in the game, not other games.
I would say if you haven't been playing competitively your whole life don't get your hopes up. Some people online just read everything you do.
This
Everyone said Ridley was bottom tier and dropped him after launch, but he’s arguably the best heavy with a fantastic advantage state and physical zoning options
He got buffed user
