Bad in brawl

She was actually killer in Brawl

She doesn't even beat all of them. Characters with huge disjoints but horrible recoveries like Cloud and Chrom still massacre her since she'll never get in to knock them offstage. She's really only decent against other low and bottom tiers.

I love Brawl Puff but she still sucked.

How do we buff the puff without being broken?

Don't. It's honestly better for the game for her to not be competitively viable.

Even porting over Melee Puff wouldn't be broken in Ultimate's setting, melee fans are just traumatized by her, that's the only reason people assume buffing her would make her OP. If you want a quick and easy buff, just make her f-throw and b-throw have higher KBG so they actually feel like threats that will lead to death, shielding against her is pretty free.

I'm gay, btw, if that matters.

give her fast fair/bairs (and no turnaround on bair) for WoP combos
make rest kill constantly at 50% or always have a guaranteed star ko animations
give her a combo throw or a kill throw
make rollout not garbage
give her rising pound back
make upsmash have almost the same range as mario's

One of the biggest reasons I still don't enable Smash meters. Don't even play as her but you'd have to make a separate Jigglypuff tier if Smash meters are considered.

I don't understand the logic behind giving Peach a sleeping FS but not Puff. I guess because Puff already sleeps, but that's the main fucking point of the character, there's nothing wrong with having two sleeps. All the swordies do is slice with a sword and their FS is slicing with a sword too.

In Brawl the Pokemon final smashes felt like they were more just interpretations of the concept of the Pokemon rather than actual references. The only one that outright referenced a move was Pikachu's Volt Tackle. "Triple Finish", "Aura Storm" and "Puff Up" were original concepts designed to play into the theme of that character (a team fighter, an aura powered martial artist and a floating balloon).

Puff is meant to be the Dan of smash and she'll never be good ever again.

You can but you can't just run into someone to use it, you need to jump into them, their resting hurtbox crouching over makes it a bit harder to land.

It never should have got into the game in the first place. It's not popular by gen 1 pokemon standards and it's moveset is the antithesis of what makes Smash great.

Puff is included because it's expected to be included, there's no other excuse for it to stick around. Imagine sticking a character in your fighting game that's designed intentionally as a bottom tier because any alternative would negatively impact the player experience

And Cap was only added because he was deemed appropriate enough to fill in one of the leftover characters from the fighting game Sakurai was originally developing.
