This particular incident starts with Horror removing certain sub emotes from speedrunner Cyghfer's channel, stating that they depicted copyrighted characters. However, one such emote that was removed did not fit this description, yet Horror refused to reinstate it. This got people looking into Twitch's policy on emotes, and they found something very interesting. Everyone, meet NightLight, a former global emote on Twitch.

Now before I get into this next part I have to mention something real quick. Emotes back in 2013 were special, getting a global emote added was a long and arduous process, and being a global emote meant something. And this was before addons like BTTV and FrankerFaceZ were at the stage they're at now, they didn't have a large selection of emotes and the ability to add your own, global and sub emotes were all anyone had. So you could imagine how mad the community got when people discovered that NightLight was added by Horror specifically as a favor for his gay furry boyfriend.
