You're playing gunlance wrong and you're bad. Look up how speedrunners play the weapon and learn from it. You're almost always going to survive more if you learn to dodge properly. If you want to block shit like a pussy, play Lance instead.

Normal Lance already is obsolete. It can't kill velkhana in 3 minutes like gunlance can.

MR 127 here. Wide 5 gunlance with healing augment still is maximum lazy, good for grinding lands and that pesky savage jho.

That's up to you. Just progress through the game and try out the different weapon types, figure out which ones you like most. But do make an effort to learn how each one works as well.

What’s confusing about the UI? It’s a health bar, stamina bar, timer, and item hotbar. And the most fun weapon is the one you gravitate to the most. Mine is lance.

I wouldn't say hardest to me personally, I got my ass handed to me back then with lvl140 shit in 4U and super monsters in 3U. But it's definitely the most hectic one, both you and the monster are never ever standing still with so much shit to do this time around.

Monster get trip/stagger/ knock down less and go to tired mode instead, which only allow knock down if certain condition is met
Monsters is more threatening in their enrage mode as they can’t be easily staggered or knock down and can’t be wall bang neither
Flash pod isn’t the end all solution to flying monster anymore as MR monster is harder to flash and get up right away after flash while knock down with clutch claw/slinger blast is yield higher reward but harder to do and only work sometimes.
Close the gap between melee weapons to range weapons in many match up, especially in MP since melee can clutch claw if they aren’t in position to attack the monster.

It's not a 0 frame charge though. It's got a 3 frame start up now. Not that it makes much difference to normal players.

my basic bitch strategy that I repeated twice was
>get a good hammer (I crafted the 2nd last velkhana one)
>max partbreaker, max slugger, max crit boost and a shit load of critical eye and max stun resist because I'm bad
>basically just keep latching on to the head with the clutch claw and pressing triangle to do the attack (if you have loaded ammo then launching into a nearby wall is fine too, but focus on the normal attack to rack up that KO damage)
>eventually get the KO, run over and smack with the circle combo and get in those sweet crits
>repeat process
by around the 3rd knock out and continual smacking to the face each time the headpiece would fly off for the carve, if you're looking for 2 pieces just pray you don't get a gem from 1 of the carves, happened to me and it sucked

I've been running it with velkhana divinity like that other user suggested and it's fucking great
my normal runs farming the velk gear took around 30 minutes, after getting the 4 pieces and switching to that gear (and picking up a glavenus GS to help with the velkhana divinity level 2 bonus) my run went down to about 14 minutes
it's not an entirely fair comparison since I was naturally getting better at fighting it over time and I picked up that GS along the way but it's been carrying me to the end game pretty hard so I still recommend

Pretty much all of them will make it in though. All they have to do is improve the textures for the monsters since it'll be a next gen game, but unless they're doing a full rebuild again they're just going to dump them in.

Because with narga you don't have the issue with barioth where you have to fear ice blight and your stamina draining because you need to chug another a hot drink or the issue with tigrex of the retard rush down and endless roaring. Nargacuga is a fairly safe middle ground between speedy and damaging and will actually stay out for more than a second without needing to be exhausted first. Alternatively it's because you need to git gud.

Yes, Ice Resist. Its 3 level 1 decos for immunity.

Same with all blights, get resistance to that element high enough and you're now immune to that blight.

I'm using the narga GL. Shara helmet and artian gauntlets, rest is G zorah with guard 4 charm and ironwall jewel on weapon. Shoddy set that I crammed in whatever gem I could find. With artillery +4 I get 5 points in it then I fill it with Vitality and Medicine because I'm that lazy. Rest of the slots is EE/Mind's Eye/Magazine/Shield, swapped when needed.
I'm pretty sure there are way better sets out there and long is still better, but until I unlock health augments for long 6 I'll continue being lazy and ignore 90% of the fight at the cost of kill times so I can give the middle finger to retarded monsters that won't stay put.

if you can get to 20 ice resistance you'll negate iceblight entirely (keying in blight resistance skills is overkill)
try eating for elemental res (L) and if that + your armor don't add up to 20 when pressing start just sneak in a cheeky ice res deco or 2 and you'll most likely be good
otherwise you'll just need to rely on the ice mantle for prevention or nulberries for removing the debuff

Effluvia resist dummy, it doesn’t stop tick damage but it grants immunity to the HP halving.

Its a 1 slot 1 level deco that makes 25% of food items F R E E .

If you press right trigger while latched to the monster's head with slinger ammo you magdump all of it into their face, and they go running off in that direction. If they hit a wall, it does several hundred (sometimes more) damage, and is a free knockdown. You press B while grappling their face to make them change direction and face a wall you want them to smash into. Be careful though, because it builds rage like crazy and you can't flinch shot or claw attack enraged monsters.

Just beat Velk. It feels like I've barely fought anything new to unlock armors and the armors I have unlocked all have the same four skills. What's happening here.

Hammer feels really satisfying when you get a KO from hammering the monster's head constantly.
GS and CB has a single big attack that feels really satisfying when you manage to land it perfectly and see the big numbers pop up.
LS is cool if you like anime shit where you slash the air between the monster and it cuts the monster after you finish your attack animation.

Pretty much only the paralysis and sleep weapons since you don't really expect your palico to do that much damage even if you gave it the highest damaging weapon.

What are the odds of at least the flagship monster weapons getting unBONED in a patch?

So how important is it to constantly upgrade gear? Like level wise with armor spheres. I went from doing fine to getting bitch smacked to half health after Velk.

AT Kirin is a fight that is both really exciting and really frustrating.
It can both, one shot you by breathing on you but Lance's huge mobility and low attack commitment enables you to keep up the onslaught and dodge at the last second, even correcting charges as you see them heading into a soon to be Kirin'd zone. It's a dance where any misstep will cause you to cart.
The one thing that really doesn't help, however, is how everything that doesn't hit the horn bounces when it gets angry, which can cost you a precious second.

Maybe Capcom should go a bit easier on the oneshots, however.

There's really no downside for the MH team to fix the bone/iron glued on weapons and add them as a free update, since they're most likely going to fix them up in the next mainline game anyway, so they might as well get a head start on those weapon models.

Why does it feel like a lot of IB monsters are really bad fights for GS?
I've been having to use four traps and get every mount/claw opportunity i can.
Used to be honest hard working man could just tackle and hit the monster while its in recovery.
But now every monster has spams dodge or it's moves carry it too far.

By default it does, but you can set it to manual, in which case you constantly get a hard to miss pop-up.

Pretty damn good honestly. About half my DPS is harassing a monster constantly with draw attacks, so the buff to that damage really helps with my clear times. I end up knocking the monster over fairly often to wail on it with TCS combos. Point is not to just be pure one way or the other. The two flow organically into each other. Fun as hell. I don't understand how people complain the monsters are too fast, I get plenty of draw hits on them.

How good is hammer considered in MHW overall? Its my absolute favorite weapon but I tend to go back and forth from "I am a huge asset to the team" to "If I was wielding any other weapon i'de probably be outputting more damage." Highest thunder lance in game. Namielle set makes it busted probably since it breaks the elemental cap. Very effective on kulve, though no other monster has such high hitzones for thunder so idk

I have a clean, 100% GS guild card in 3U, 4U, XX, and World. I've played other weapons in the arena but I love the GS playstyle so much that I'm content with it entirely.
Playing Freedom Unite and 100 hrs in realized it counted the initial 5 tutorial quests it forced me to play SnS on my guild card. I realize it's totally ridiculous but I'm genuinely sort of upset. Do I have the autism?

How do you have trouble soloing anything? Solo is the definite easy mode for this game. HP and status/stagger thresholds are way way lower which makes the game so easy when you don't have to carry gooks and chinks on your back. The difference between solo and multi is the difference between your mantles and attack staggers being significant and reliable versus essentially nullifying their reliability.

Minds eye is a requirement for behemoth. Use longsword or charge blade for best results. I can imagine any other weapon being kind of shit because he's a huge hp sponge, especially since CB saed ungaspam pretty much can't miss any hits with its huge body. Iceborne has settings that allow you to share the numerical values used to create your hunter's appearance.

I'm not just talking about decos here. Regular behemoth definitely doesn't need minmaxed anything to solo.
Just wear your lunastra mixed set with the health boost, weakness exploit, and crit boost. Put some points into evasion window if you need them, and bring your 13 flashpods. Behemoth can always be flashed out of the tornado as long as it's not recovering from a flash.

Could be sharpness, could be raw, could be element, ammo, etc. More often than not however some are just flat out better craftables than others.

Dala is big enough to carve the landscape as it moves, but not nearly as slow as something its size should be. It's also the only monster besides crimson fatty that can summon literal meteors from space. In terms of powerlevel dick waving, Dala's pretty high up there.

Effluvia Resist 3 is a must. Otherwise try and break the mould/fungi cluster near his asshole first, it makes attacking the tail unsafe because it sprays that health draining gas at you whenever he sprays it from somewhere else on his gross body. Also if you break his head to remove the fungi there he becomes susceptible to flash bombs.
