why do people get filtered so easily by underrail?
it's not that hard
Why do people get filtered so easily by underrail?
Zoners find it difficult to think for themselves when presented with multiple ways of solving a problem.
The very top-left post is a legitimately good way of conserving resources if you can stand the tedium
by mid game I had so many fucking health hypos I didn't know what to do with them
I hate those fucking things so god damn much
>check some builds to gauge how the DLC changed the game
>Temporal Manipulation fucking everywhere
oh no
Likewise, but my autism still demanded that I horde them and resort to bandages as much as possible.
Even when I had hundreds of Advanced and regular Health hypos sitting in my desk at SGS and an inventory full of Super Hypos and Regenerative Mixtures I'd do a quick proportional analysis whenever I had to use one in a fight.
It feels unfinished and unpolished. Its Missing a lot of QoL changes that you would expect nowadays.
literally satan's spawn incarnate
>Pistols are a trap.
>SMG's require you to know that you should have maxed dex at the start game screen.
>AR's, shotguns and snipers require strength because the stat you associate most with a stealthy sniper, is strength.
>Crossbows are garbage unless min-maxed
>Dex melee is a joke
The only builds that work off common sense out of the gate are psi and str melee.
Try to make anything else and you are going to find out you have to reroll later.
It's pretty annoying. I mean it's autism, but the knowledge that any given build I could make would be better if I crammed some points into TM is incredibly frustrating.
This is why time magic is always an awful idea.
It's either a complete waste, or so OP that everything is better with it.
Such as?
Pistols can be a trap, yes, but on the other hand you can do chem/elec instead and those are great.
You really should check feats properly before building a character, so there's no excuse for not knowing Dex is important.
I don't know what you're on about with Strength for snipers when the best one only requires 6. AR maybe, but that's 7 if you want Full Auto, hardly a massive investment, and it's not illogical either.
I'll partially give you the point about crossbows, but if you call 'pick the feats for it' min-maxing then I don't know what you tell you mang.
And you clearly haven't actually tried Dex melee if you think it blows, considering I literally just cleared the game with it. The only speedbumps were early high-armor enemies.
All in all, got me to respond/10.
Only firearm pistols, and even then they're useful as a secondary weapon on some builds. And how is it not common sense to think specialising purely in pistols might not be as effective as specialising in, say, assault rifles?
The game start screen literally tells you how important Dexterity is for SMGs, and there's no excuse for not checking the feat page before you make your character either.
Assault rifles, shotguns and sniper rifles all require strength but it's never their main attribute, especially not for a stealthy character, it's just a minimum stat requirement to use which makes complete sense.
guaranteedbumps/10
Early areas of the game are overtuned meaning before depot a and require you to use molotovs
POISONOUS ROOF NIGGERS
FUCK DEATH STALKERS
FUCK CROSSBOWNIGGERS
Why should you have to read a wiki to play a game
Alright buddy you got two options here, you can be a protectorate slave...
Why does this game only reward min/max autism?
>You really should check feats properly before building a character
No senpai.
Maybe in the 90's sure, but nobody today is going to read the manual before playing, it's assumed you will be able to respec or something later after you get the feel of the game (like fallout).
>Any RP
>Ranged damage dealers that require strength
STR is always a dump stat for range DPS senpai. That's expected.
>Why are so many people having trouble with the early game?
>The only speedbumps were early high-armor enemies
That's my point senpai.
Or you can be an slaved drone. These are your choices.
So what's it gonna be? huh huh huh? A protectorate? PRUTECTORATE. or a drone? DWONE.
>make assault rifle build
>take starting pistol
>go kill the rathounds
>find Jonas' watch
>accept SMG as rewards
>go into underpassages immediately east of SGS
>kill the lurker with an assault rifle
>take assault rifle
>use assault rifles the entire rest of the game
>And how is it not common sense to think specialising purely in pistols might not be as effective as specialising in, say, assault rifles
Because videogames.
Metaknowledge, wow if only you know exactly what to do it becomes easy
Who said anything about the wiki? The game itself lets you browse all feats and even search for keywords.
And strength requirements for weapons specifically have been a thing in cRPG for ages, and certainly in Fallout which Underrail claims to be a psuedo-successor to. It's not a stretch to assume you might need more than 3 to haul a proper weapon around.
What people today are and aren't willing to do is irrelevant. And as above, it's not a manual, it's checking a mark on the chargen screen to look at all feats.
I'm not even gonna touch the second point because it's spawned from a really fucking stupid mentality, and for the third: what, the fact you're slightly inconvenienced before level 6 is your point? Because if that's enough to get you to reroll, you have brain problems. Most builds struggle a bit early game.
>STR is always a dump stat for range DPS
If I didn't side with the pirates, can I get to the big Canine without killing them? Despite obtaining free passage in negotiation, they go hostile if I get into their territory and I see no other way to reach it. Their captain seemed like a fine enough guy, so I'd prefer avoid another cleanse.
>a fairly obscure but high quality RPG gets month of good discussion on Yea Forums
You guys are alright sometimes
>What people today are and aren't willing to do is irrelevant
That is entirely the point senpai.
We are talking about why first time players struggle.
I think you are just having an autism bout with yourself desu.
Most of what you are saying is incoherent and unrelated.
>literally playing the game is now considered metaknowledge
What did he mean by this?
Because min/maxing is how RPGs should be designed in the first place.
I lost interest in Divinity Original Sin 2 in the middle of the game because its laughably easy, even on tactician. The game assumes an absolute retard plays it and thus if you even put a minute of thought into leveling and equipment you end up overpowered very quickly. Don't even need to look up guides.
>>but nobody today is going to read the manual before playing
>it's quite literally the tooltips on the character creation screen
>"the manual"
Yes, why would anybody read anything when playing an rpg?
I only have the base game I bought a long ass time ago and not sure if I want to buy the expansion. Can I finish the base game and not miss out on expansion shit?
why should you be forced to pregame everything, shouldn't your experience dictate your choices
I personally think the early game is overtuned
Why would you premarket a build without knowing fuck all, I beat the ga,e with a hybrid BTW but I read quite a bit about the game before starting
How is a first time player supposed to know to do that exact sequence of events
>Don't even need to look up guides.
And that's a bad thing why exactly?
>music cypher
Feels like I have 3 INT.
The tooltips don't say
"If you are playing a SMG character, you MUST max Dex, and put 6 points into agility as well because if you don't you will miss the 1 feat that is mandatory for your build"
Game's about autistic min-maxing a character don't get upset over it.
You can't play it like other RPG's where you can survive with a jack of all trades build.
>music cypher
... I play with the music off.
What part of the game is this in?
I've been checking and experimenting with a few things in the black sea lately.
It seems that the flag to the invasion trigger is entering the facility after getting Phil's arm, the invasions do not trigger if you just get Phil's arm, you'll get a call by Briggs after a while and that's it, the invasion also triggers even if you do not go to sleep after daddy Briggs gives you his permission to so don't think you can just enter the facility and still get away with no invasion, that seems to be the specific flag.
Conversely, it seems that killing Magnar stops the invasions altogether judging from Yahota's reports, mind you that you DO NOT need to kill Magnar's ghost, just killing Magnar proper apparently stops the invasion, no need to bother with Bænkräster or any of the other chiefs.
The problem with D:OS games isn't that they're laughably easy, it's that they're laughably primitive and have amateurish design all around, there's plenty of easy games that recoup somewhere else, D:OS games simply don't.
D:OS2 also being insultingly linear and handholdy is the straw that breaks the camel's back, and it's a shame because looks wise the game is pretty great, but everything else is just unadulterated mediocrity, which I guess is why it's such a big hit.
>Because min/maxing is how RPGs should be designed in the first place.
Nah, mang. The fact you enjoy it more doesn't mean it's how it has to be.
And before you try and say something about the classics, all of them could've been beaten just fine with half-improvising your build and no advance knowledge. I'd know, since if I could manage as a kid it sure as shit couldn't have been that hard.
6 aging isn't exactly min maxing, nor do you need dexter, you could probably beat the game with few issues with 6 dexter 6 agI smg on normal
Obviously 10+ dex is optimal but not absolutely necessary
>gms compound on new build
>prepare with bear traps so I can lure raiders away from hostages right into them
>start fight by throwing lvl II grenade into them
>they all instantly die
>battle ends
>old man walks right into bear trap before I can disarm it and dies
goddamn it
>tfw no vivian girlfriend
Free xp, please in tchorts name say you are playing on the intended classic difficulty
>buy game cause am ssethtider and it's on sale and I heard good things from people who played it for longer
>kind of lose interest
>get my ass kicked by two hounds, but it's not the reason I lost interest
why would you mention it if it wasn't relevant then?
But it's entirely possible to survive and complete the game with a jack of all trades build.
You "can" but that does not mean easily or it will be fun.
Having to build your character at the start, and having the stats be so critical, and very different from most rpg stat systems, with no option to reroll after finishing the tutorial is why a lot of people are struggling with the game is what i'm postulating.
i am, but I'm also the kind of moral fag that gave the beggar 100 charons when I saw him
so naturally I didn't like that I killed the old man
Ayo hol up what if all the people who get filtered go and try to play it on Hard or DOMINATING first time around because they're conditioned with all the games where 'Normal' is more like 'a fucking joke'
It's not a guide. It's just a reasonable series of steps a new player might take, because that's exactly what I did on my first playthrough.
I mean, it doesn't take 15 Int to realise that a free SMG might be a good reward for a gun user, does it?
Me neither but they aggroed on me when one stray bullet hit the old fuck, so I either stay locked in combat forever, or just kill them
>figure out everything up to octave shifts on my own
>look up how to do it
>don't understand at all
still don't really get it
Why would you get your credits exchanged at colton when blaine buys 3 for one charon?
even with the persuasion check, that's still a cheaper exchange rate
I completed them with pistol. Depot A with sniper and molotovs.
funnily enough they didn't care that he died
I guess allies just consider it their fault if they walk into your traps
I honestly think I got the smg on my playthrough but in the grand scheme of things thing the starting areas are overtuned regardless, I can't fathom how you beat lurkers before depot a, but I'll assume trap fuckery
You shouldn't; he's expressly ripping you off. The best thing to do is deal purely in goods since charons are what you'll be getting for most of the game, and SGS merchants accept them as well.
>this blind zoner just walked straight into a bear trap and bled to death
>well, it was his own damn fault
Makes sense
Not everyone finds blaine
Its tough, sure, but manageable. Using beartraps and grenades makes the early game very easy, its just a matter of using all the tools at your disposal.
I was in the middle of a jagged alliance 2 playthrough when i started seeing underrail threads on Yea Forums, then sseth made a review and convinced me to buy. I love these types of games so much. Difficult, but you will come out on top if you use the tools that the game gives you.
>crpg
>why should you plan tactics and builds
Maybe you should stick to shooters.
The whole point of this game is to see how your plans work out.
If you just want to kill things by clicking a few times then crpgs are not for you.
I'll be honest, I have no idea why people even take the forum builds like a bible and be-all-end-all of how the game has to be played, when a solid chunk of them are designed for DOMINATING specifically; a difficulty the game itself advises you not to fucking play unless you're sure because it wasn't made with beating it in mind.
I'm OK with plans and tactics but why does the starting screen have 8 Rathounds, or the first psi beetle interior have 5 psi beetles, normally there is a progression where you are introduced to things in a rational series of events
>And how is it not common sense to think specialising purely in pistols might not be as effective as specialising in, say, assault rifles?
Cause why put in a specialization that's useless. Anyway you put it it's bad design or a trap intended to trick new players.
>bought the game because it looked genuinely interesting
>worried about getting filtered
Abstract kind of feel, desu
Have you got a functioning brain? Can you read and understand tooltips? Can you think about how to use utility items? You'll be fine.
Aw fuck
>providing choice for the player is bad
Because it's not useless, or a trap. The only reason you think it is is because you're blinded to the other options you have available.
Say you get a third of the way into the game and realise your pistols aren't really doing as much damage as you'd like. Is the skill you've been raising named 'pistols'? No, it's 'guns'. So why not use an energy pistol instead? Or a chemical pistol? Or an SMG or assault rifle?
DEX melee is busted
I actually think the early game (especially the outposts and mushroom cove) are well-balanced and do an excellent job of trying to teach the player good habits - look at your environment and use it to your advantage (explosive barrels and chain fences in the outposts), use the different tools and utility items you have available. GMS is more difficult but it's still manageable; if you don't have lockpicking and hacking to take the easiest path you've spent those skillpoints on being able to kill people. Even the importance of coming prepared - if you get to GMS and run into a brick wall in the form of bots, there's nothing stopping you from simply going back to SGS and buying EMP grenades to deal with them, or W2C rounds.
>I can't fathom how you beat lurkers before depot a, but I'll assume trap fuckery
Nope, I've never used traps on any of my playthroughs because I'm too autistic to be bothered. The lurkers in the underpassages immediately around SGS are very weak; anyone who's a half-decent combat character can easily clear the first few screens around Blaine's shop. They're placed so that you almost always fight one (maximum two) at a time unless you really fuck up, at most you might have to use a couple molotovs/caltrops/hypos
Because feats, you dumb cunt
Quick reloading and recharging
ROOF NIGGERS
>why are things difficult instead of easy
I'm not sure what your point is.
The game needs challenging situations so that you don't breeze through.
This is not Fallout 4. It's not built around making each build viable at every stage.
Preventing min/maxing is the goal of CRPGs difficulty.
You need in def knowledge to make a min/max build work.
Thought you meant real lurkers
>>The underpassages immediately east of SGS
I can see why you'd make that mistake. Sorry, user.
So what, because you've used two or three feats already that somehow makes assault rifles do less damage? Most builds don't need anywhere near every available feat selection to be complete, just because your autism doesn't let you play with anything but an "optimal" build doesn't mean they won't be effective.
There's plenty of challenge, why can't there be an easy section at the start
The challenge vastly outweighs anything close to easy
I think having an npc show you how effective a molotov or a grenade is would be really helpful, otherwise you would have no idea
Maybe have old Jonas throw a flare or molotov at a group of Rathounds so you understand how useful they can be
I played an abortion of a crossbow build with trash feats (picked snipe, special tactics, sprint, didn't pick opportunist because I'm retarded), trash stats, bought armor, didn't swap my starting boots untill I reached core city, couldn't use anything but a lifting belt so I just could use 1 kind of grenade and 1 kind of special bolt at the same time, also fucked my skillpoints by spending 50 of them in pickpocketing, and not a single one in biology when the best bolts and traps are behind it.
I still managed to finish DLC, but then I was completely burnt out by the whole "set up a dungeon of traps before starting the fight" routine.
As long as you aren't absolute fucking dogshit at videogames you'll be fine.
Don't worry about it, user, you'll be fine. Just try it; the worst that can happen is you won't like it, but at least you'll know for yourself.
A lot of the people in this thread complaining are just shitposting pipeworkers anyway, you can tell because they just repeat "b-but muh minmaxing" over and over without elaborating.
Play as a hammer wizard
"CRAWLERS could be here" he thought "I've never been in these caves before. There could be CRAWLERS anywhere." The hefty weight of his steel sledgehammer felt good in his bare hands. "I HATE CRAWLERS." He thought. TenseCaves.mp4 was reverberating troughout the tunnels, making it far too scary even as the 700 credit psi beetle brain soup circulated trough his powerful, psychic brain and washed away his (extremely merited) fear of POISONOUS ROOF NIGGERS in the dark. "Play as a hammer wizard, you can go anywhe-" Player enter initiative 23+4-1000=-973 12 mechanical 7 toxic 13 mechanical 12 toxic STUNNED CRITICAL HIT 83 mechanical 112 toxic 40 mechanical 20 toxic YOU ARE DEAD
no
post build
That's a good point. The game does tell you that they're afraid of fire, but I think most people are coming from games where they're in the habit of hoarding consumables/utility items or avoiding using them because they're ineffective.
>Quick reloading
Shift+Q?
>that Underrail thread the other day by an user that was such a brainlet he couldn't even figure out how to sell something to a vendor
God damn you fucking zoomers are retarded.
Apex.
the start is an easy section, you can literally clear it with a starter knife and 0 melee
jonas and the gate keeper tell you that rathounds are scared of flares. if the player doesnt get it by that point, they did it to themselves
there's an explosive barrel in the beginning section that wrecks surrounding rathounds if you shoot it. should get a point across that explosives are helpful
the game gives you plenty of information to come to these conclusions. all stats and effects of weapons are available just by looking at what the beginning armory has
people just dont want to read or try things out, they expect it to be a cakewalk like a lot of modern day rpgs
>people just dont want to read or try things out, they expect it to be a cakewalk like a lot of modern day rpgs
This.
As a psi user,
what do you do when you run out of psi points, but their are still enemies?
you literally have to be told by someone before you leave that flares spook rathounds
Hide behind the Force Wall you threw up the round before.
You did throw one up, r-right user?
Pop a hypo, obviously.
If you're running out often, get yourself one of those belts that reduce cost of hypos to 2AP, it's good shit.
pop a psi booster
or suffer the same fate any ranged character does when they run out of ammo because they brought 20 ammo for a goddamn smg
Either inject a psi hypo (no reason at all to ever run out of them) or use a secondary offensive tool. Every build should have some form of alternative attack type. Whether that's an sniper with grenades, a crossbowman with traps, or a psi user with unarmed. Doesn't matter what it is, but you should always have secondary options to kill things with.
ideally you want to prevent this from happening by using crafted psi headgear
either you use a psi booster or haul your ass out of there
force wall is also great for buying time
>first playthrough, assault rifle user
>enter DC with about 2000 rounds
>run out and have to desperately craft more with all the steel plates I could scavenge
The fishing quest is bullshit if you don't look it up though.
There's no way anyone could know that you can get one of the fish only from that one small pond that doesn't even look like it's made for fishing.
And I also dislike the fact that you have to restart when you fuck up your build. Nowadays it's okay because you can just speed up time and rush through everything with your now (hopefully) decent build but when that option wasn't in the game restarting and crossing all those screens you just crossed several times a few hours ago was a massive chore.
I don't know why everybody including the devs are against respecing. To feel hardcore that they are playing a hardcore game?
I understand that the devs don't want you to max crafting, craft the best equipment and respec to full combat but I think there are better ways to prevent that.
That said it's a good game and the metacritic score is just more proof that most "game journalists" picked the wrong profession.
>that one small pond that doesn't even look like it's made for fishing.
The game tell you that all "ponds" are connected by underwater tunnels, fucking read, nigga
There's no such thing as games journalists user. Pushing buttons and then telling the world how you feel about having pushed those buttons isn't journalism.
Can you not leave the DLC after entering?
This worries me as a SMG user.
Haven't reached the DLC area yet.
>running and hiding from robots with my 0 lockpicking build because I can't use vents
>get cornered by some, out of desperation lob a grenade
>one shots them, 200~exp each
holy fuck why didn't I learn about this sooner
I'm gonna start killing bots way more often, even if I don't have a way to deal with the stuns
DC as in deep caverns user
level lockpicking, jack
Deep Caverns, the endgame area.
>0 (zero) lockpicking
What are you doing, jack?
You can leave the DLC all you want. DC=deep caverns. The endgame dungeon.
Unless you're trying to one-hand a mounted gun without a tripod, you shouldn't need more than the minimum required str to carry and use a gun.
I've shot an M91/30 before. It's a heavy, powerful gun with a lot of kick, but you don't need to be very strong to use it.
Crowbar, fool
I'm not that desperate for loot, and every level so far with vents has been doable without
3 str smg build
This.
I wish the
>You need to be the hulk to burst fire an assault rifle
meme would die off.
I found the barrel wasn't that useful, the demonstration of old Jonas throwing a grenade is more to show you how powerful they are, which would be useful for depot a where most people tend to quit. Most players wouldn't be willing to spend money on them not knowing their effectiveness.
I cant, on phone but it seems Im inside a range ban.
>lockpicking is for loot only
You're golden, friend.
I literally said I don't care about vents
the fuck else am I gonna do with it, bypass enemies when I could just 'nade them?
Some guy made a program that automatically solves the cypher.
You wouldn't use it though like a filthy cheat right? In fact i'll show you what the link looks like so you know to avoid it
underrail.com
whats a good stat/skill allocation for a psi wizard? max int, will and con to 6 for increased hypo healing?
listen, jack, it doesnt just give you loot, it can open up paths that will make the game easier as well. first example being the vents that you can't access
if you're running smg, you should have a lot of dex. your lockpicking will get hyperboosted by it and you will end up not needing to invest many points into it for it to be able to pass the highest lockpicking checks
10 wis -obviously
9 con -minimum needed for last stand
9 int
Dump everything else.
Convenience you dumb fuck. Plenty of areas can be gotten through much faster and more directly by just being able to pick a locked door. It's not necessary, but don't complain about being blocked from alternative routes when you explicitly chose to be blocked from those routes.
I didn't complain about being blocked off, I used it to explain why I was running through robots instead of sneaking through vents
I'm pretty sure the fishing quest is bullshit by design. It's not supposed to be a "serious" quest and the reward is a puny amount of XP.
I'm 9 str AR and is there no way to open vents if you don't have some strength? I know about that special item that specifically opens a vent, but I think I've seen it once so far (no I'm not talking about the omnitool)
you mean crowbar?
This.
It's a way for Styg to laugh at completionist autist.
I think a special crowbar maybe? Fuck I don't know if I'm mixing things up
As an absolute retard who hasn't even played either of the old Fallouts, will oddity or classic XP serve me better? For reference, I'm so retarded I accidentally shot the guy at the firing range when I went there the first time.
Classic XP or Oddity?
Just go with classic then, since you seem to at least have killing shit down pat.
the Fallouts are nothing like this game at least not in the way of interface which in this game is modernised (for the better)
just play oddity since it's a unique experience and if you're retarded just play on easy it'll still give you a challenge in some areas
though oddity is kind of retarded because levelling up because you found bubblegum (worth 1 exp) in a toilet in Core City is... I mean it leaves me beyond words
Oddity because it rewards paying attention to your surroundings and the environment; if you know you have to do it to get XP and level up you'll build a good habit.
You'd be surprised how many people try and loot the desk at the start of that tutorial and immediately get murdered by Lucas.
Oddity.
Oddity=faster early leveling, much slower late game leveling, have to be a complete autist and check every barrel, every corpse, every container in order to get to max level, no reward for killing enemies
Classic=slower early game leveling, much faster late game leveling. Rewarded for killing shit and doing quests.
Pick your poison.
>have to be a complete autist and check every corpse
>no reward for killing enemies
What did he mean by this?
The real reward is the feat you get for completing it, it's a lifesaver in DC and if you want to make the highest-tier drugs.
Classic
>Just killed a group of 10 ironheads
>Level up
Oddity
>Just killed a group of 10 ironheads
>Lol, you ain't getting shit
tchort is evolution
Have you ever held and fired a high-caliber rifle or a shotgun beyond 18 gauge?
So reading all the stats, descriptions, and skills/feats INSIDE the game is reading a wiki? Stick to sports games.
>Just killed a group of 10 ironheads
>four of them were carrying oddities
>level up
It is demonstrably inaccurate to say there's no reward for killing enemies, because many oddities can only be obtained by doing so. If you want to be precise, next time write "there's no reward for killing every enemy"
Tchort is a faggot
I'm playing as a heavy armor wizard and it's working surprisingly well so far. If I went back, I'd probably change the snooping feat to corporeal projection or something instead though.
Except the killing isn't what's being rewarded is it user? On classic you just gun them down and are already rewarded. Looting is what's being rewarded on oddity.
Don't be disingenuous, if the only way to obtain the oddity is by killing and looting whoever or whatever holds it, the two are inextricably linked.
I just don't want you giving any new players the wrong idea so they avoid a lot of combat and then get surprised when they miss a whole heap of oddities.
Reading literally every stat, feat and description before starting the game
How the fuck would you know what is useful before trying it
Wow spec ops decreases my burst ap cost but I don't even know if smgs are good or how they work in the game
You can't make desicions without knowledge
Redpill me, which is better? Classic or Oddity? Thinking of resetting the run
Oddity, don't listen to clueless classicfags.
Even the game tells you Oddity is how it's meant to be played.
Where can you buy your first chemical pistol?
I did 1 playtrhough already with AR tincan and I don't remember ever finding a shop that sells one.
>how do i make decisions about anything or think for myself?
You're just arguing semantics, the fact is that the act of killing in enough itself doesn't give you anything, besides that, you can only pick up an oddity so many times, meaning once you get all the oddities from one enemy you can safely avoid them entirely.
How do DEX melee builds deal with the hordes of crossbows/shamans/dudes in expedition, or the packs of strongmen in the center, or god forbid the thousand locusts? Do they just speed away on jetskis?
Classic, why would you try something that could be retarded, classic works and it always has
Classic is actually how it was meant to be played originally
By looking it up online ya doof
I was wondering the same thing but for any dex build that doesn't have good armor.
>Chemical Pistol
>Buy
>You're just arguing semantics
Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing. Explain to me, if the act of killing is a necessary precondition for that of looting, how killing isn't rewarded? It's obvious that killing gives you access to more oddities than otherwise.
>meaning once you get all the oddities from one enemy you can safely avoid them entirely.
Irrelevant. "A limited reward" is not "no reward"
I'm genuinally puzzles about this, how you're faring so far?
As a hammer wizard I really needed 6 agiliy stuff like Sprint, and even at times got my ass handed by Thought Controlers, can you CC hard enough to not have to move or retreat?
Also Snooping is a luxury
Coporeal projection aint that great for your build, given, I assume, you will stay at 8 Strenght, so that's just a 15% increase
But there's an important question, do you plan to be a Tungsten Tank or a Nimble can (with SS or TiChrome)?
>why would you ever try something new that might be fun?
>toss grenade
>wait a few seconds, enter combat
>toss a flare
>get stabbed in the back anyways because it was behind you the whole time
such is life in the underrail
Ah shit, here we go again.
Caltrops my friend
While crawlers are inmune to poision, they still are slowed down and damage by caltrops, whenever you see the message of a crawler taking damage, and caltrops disappear, initiate combat and throw a flare on the ROOF NIGGER
Also bear traps
You're an idiot.
Where can I find a blueprint to craft one then?
I just want to test it out before I try a playtrhough centered around it.
>step outside of the designated area

Just make every map a corridor if you're going to do this shit.
Great argument. Try not being a disingenuous faggot next time.
>Burrower Warrior
You're in some deep shit, jack
Ask any vendor that specializes in chemical stuff.
You can get a blueprint as soon as you reach Junkyard iirc.
>burrower warrior cunningly trapped in the midst of the group
Nice work, user
>found this place a few minutes ago

What level do you need to be to clear that?
every single enemy dies very quickly
locusts are by far the worst enemies I faced with a dex knife build, DC was a breeze compared to some fucking hives positioned exactly beside the water

How do stealth or xbox/trappers survive in the DLC?
Seems like they just get fucked.
Literal meme mode
cute baka
With enough bear traps you can solo it anytime. Hell, what can't be handled with bear traps. Also with psi and premeditation, you can do it straight away with the help of door cheesing tactics. Just open the door, activate premeditation, throw a spell for no AP cost, then put a forcefield or close the door, repeat until all the burrowers are dead. But it's boring and slow as fuck.
Should i make a shotgun or sniper build and how long does this game roughly take to beat?

>The only builds that work off common sense
If your common sense comes from fucking video games, maybe. Why would a heavy firearm not require strength to wield properly?
Have fun, user!
Hit and run on jetskis worked for my sneaky psi sniper. Pretty easy but battles take longer.
why would it require comparable strength to a damn sledgehammer?
It's working out pretty good. The cc is very strong. Thought control has a fear, setting people on fire fears, telekinetic punch stuns, chain lightning stuns. If all else fails I can seal myself in a corner with the force fields, wait for cooldowns and regen mana. When it drops, everyone's bunched up for a crit pyrokinesis.
Not really sure which armor to go with. Movement doesn't seem too important to me, so whatever is toughest, just rolling with steel armor for now.
Just got the emitters from the warehouse for Gorksy. I went back through the tunnel and as soon as I walked out the Protectorate there started shooting me. Where did I fuck up? Is this working as intended? I'm supposed to join these guys later.
Do dog cages and hopper traps have any use outside of the quest?
Would be cool if combat pets were a thing in this game.
What build i should play if i wanna get maximum lore from the game ?
High INT
i just don't like the fallout-style gameplay, it's very slow
...you know how hammers work, right? It doesn't take that much strength to lift and swing a sledge forcefully. Try lifting, steadying and firing a 12.7mm rifle unbraced.
6-7 strength is not exceptional strength by any measure.
No pets, but you can use them again for a quest on Foundry.
>Nigga getting to lvl 13 with those kinds of brains
oh no no Stygdditor you said this game was hard!
a high will build will be necessary to get some bits of lore, and you will need high will to get your persuasion extra high for extra details. So I'd say a psi build would be the best
Not to mention complete garbage.
>oh lets make an RPG!
>and give it an old broken combat system that was been made obsolete years ago!
>tfw your "common sense" is based on complete ignorance
High WIL+INT.
How would you know that the rifle is a 12.7mm from the character creator screen?
It's just a "sniper rifle" that could mean anything from a varmint rifle to a 20mm.
I don't think requiring strength is a bad idea. But, a little more information on the character creation wouldn't hurt.
High int/will
Perception for secrets and i guess agility to get into certain areas
Better than Real Time With Pause at least.
I can't decide.
How is it broken and how is it obsolete? Use reasons that don't boil down to "I don't like it," please.
You actually have to think and comparation when it comes to metal armours
underrail.com
Generally there are 2 tin can archetypes
Tungsten armour have amazing mechanical resistances and thresholds, however it's super fucking heavy. This might not be an issue for tin can hammerers, because they pump strenght beyond 10, however you must realize that even with all that carry weight, metal armour, metal booties and metal helmets will easily weight 50 kg or even more, and that's probably 1/3 of your carry capacity, SPECIALLY since you're staying at 8-9 Strenght. Your advantage is that you dont need a hammer, which is another 20 kg that you dont have to carry around.
If you dont care for movement then you should go Tungsten, Juggernauth will give you a lot of HP.
However, tungsten also had mediocre energy resistances and "Okay'ish" fire resistances. You will need 9 Strenght to be able to wear Tungsten without penalties tho. Also dont bother with armour slopping with Tungsten, it has such a huge AP the feat doesnt do enough to reduce it to make it worthwhile. High high shield is recommended.
Then you have TiChrome and Super Steel
Both are fairly similar, TiChrome is lightweight, some pretty fucking decent heat and energy resistances, but bad mechanical resistances and threshold, it has some AP but nothing armour slopping cant handle.
Super Steel has comparable heat and energy resistances, but unlike TiChrome, and like Tungsten, SS has very high mechnical resistances, reaching 95% with ease.
But there's a catch, unlike Tungsten, SS has a fucking terrible mechanical treshold, Tungsten will reduce all bullet damage to 0 and deny all crippling strike knifers once you go past 60 mechanical DT, but SS cannot reach that high, meaning you gonna get crippled and bullets, although kill you outright, will slowly chip your health away.
Armour slooping for TiChrome and SS is highly recommended.
How do you even reach shaman faggots before they stun/bilocate you with literal meatshields in the way?
Do you think the average sniper rifle in a game like this is likely to be a varmint rifle?
The Faceless are the best, let them do what they want. You did take Persuade, right?
>started playing this game a few days ago

Getting to Magnar is always a fucking slog, the last two screens where you have to turtle hordes of Spaeters and net throwing mooks are especially tedious.
Sounds like you're just bad at the game. Sorry user. :(

Imagine being this bad at video games
Yeah, figures. Kinda feel retarded for asking. Thanks.
>throwing a fit instead of just letting it be
I didn't really expect the basic pistol to be a 5mm, to be fair.
Hes right though.
Pistols are a meme.
Stealth is slow and tedious + 0 answers to hordes of mobs
Fists can work but are not great early game.
Grab a shotgun or rifle, put on some heavy armor and you will be fine.
PSI is also very viable.
Look Jack, the gacha thread is one board down. Keep it in your pants will you?
Do you have stealth?
You kill the psi/xbow quickly and there's no way the melee will catch up to you if you have fancy footwork (if you're a knife/unarmed/fist build)
>pistols are a meme
>stealth is a build in itself
How viable is Stealth Sniper anyway?
Do you just get insta-gibbed if you're not picking guys off from stealth?
updated my collage
>Hes right though.
No, he isn't, and you should feel bad for thinking so.
WHAT IF Dude stole the Cube?
Anything you can do with pistols, SMG's can do better.
I won't explain how light armor differs from heavy armor, it's to much for you.
It's great with a utility belt.
If you can't understand how stealth helps with mobs then you're a lost cause.
One of the best builds in the game once it gets off the ground.
>Do you just get insta-gibbed
No. Your plan shouldn't be "break stealth, then stand around and let people shoot me to death", but by midgame even your regular shots will be doing so much damage you can reliably just gun down groups of enemies.
>How is it broken and how is it obsolete? Use reasons that don't boil down to "I don't like it," please.
It erases the impact of player skill and planning
>enter fight with a coin flip
>every attack is a coin flip

No.

Reading comprehension retard.
I said the entire "stealth, set traps, lure and snipe" play style is slow and tedious.
You somehow interpenetrated that is "bad".
>Grab a shotgun or rifle, put on some heavy armor and you will be fine.
Don't change the subject.
>being THIS butthurt
If you weren't butthurt, you wouldn't be adding criticism.
You're admitting your game is garbage.
>anything you can do with pistols smgs can do better
Have you ever made a chemical pistol? I made a cryo blob one and holy shit everything just dies immediately it even does more damage much more damage than my acid one even though they are around the same quality.
We are not talking about chemical pistols, we are talking about standard mechanical pistols.
Mechanical pistol builds are objectively shit and your all just larping.
Man, this is fucking petty. Just stop.
Reading comprehension retard. You said stealth 0 answers to hordes of mobs which is what I replied to. I never said stealth was bad, I said you were.
GOAL
POST
>Shrek Cringe Compilation.png
Quick question, if I focus down Tchort's eye in the final area does it kill every other mob or do I still have to deal with them? Trying to see if I can ignore the mutagen bullshit but I might have to do it anyway, my character wasn't really built for a constant head on fight.
>he isnt making use of grenades and traps
Is there anyone that doesn't? I have 0 trap and 0 throw and regularly use molotovs or equivelent
Thank god for aluminised cloth
Ask me how I know you never completed the game.
>when someone criticizes the game the fanboys try to change the subject
>and if that doesn't work they start screaming about how "bad" the person is
>they even go as far as to browse reddit for posts to compare them to
Congrats, you're as bad as NVfags.
aesthetics of the game are shitty, writing is practically nonexistant, and the gameplay is flat.
it's basically a worse fallout 1/2.
It kills the tentacles, the Mouth and the remaining Tchortlings go into permanent Rage. You don't have to kill or bother with them though, as long as you can quit combat long enough to use the console and then climb the ladder.
>dodging his post
You are right this is going bad fast.
Where is the APEX poster when we need him.
>aesthetics of the game are shitty
looks fine to me for an indie game
>writing is practically nonexistant

Whatever helps you cope with your incompetence.
Lol what I have some deagel look alike that does a fuckton of damage late game and you said pistol builds not mechanical pistols stop moving the goalpost. Just admit energy pistols and chemical pistols are good and you are a retard for saying pistols arent valid.
gettin real fuckin tired of locusts
Where the hell is the entrance to the horticulture center for low agilets? I don't wanna spend anymore time than I have to around those motherfuckers
>aesthetics of the game are shitty, writing is practically nonexistant,
The writing isn't front and center but it rocks my man.
Biohazard boots
CAU armour
Aegis helmet
That alone should trivialize Locusts
I feel Deep Caverns is going to be "that" part for me, getting stuck in there with no way back to town doing scavenger hunt bullshit isn't really that enjoyable. And I have to back and forth between the Arke power station too. I know it's the final level of the main quest but still annoying since I didn't realize I'd be stuck in there.
If they made it so you can do a quest to get to the Hanging Rat or something that would be cool.
Okay guys we need to decide. Are the faceless based or should we going zone them? I had to zone them cause I didnt know the railroad faceless could be reasoned with and I missed the guy in the cage cause I just didnt see him but they seem pretty apex.

There's at least 4 different crimson meadow coordinates, you're gonna have to be more specific, do you mean H7?

yes this is engaging gameplay uh huh yup
Gorsky is a violent retard and ezra is literally a mad scientist who brainwashes people. The procterate are the only chance at real order and civilization free drones are actual anarchists who would rather have the chaos of the bandit marauders than have actual civility.
he's best boy, I had to include him even if I excluded vera
Personally I couldnt play more than ~6 hours of the game before forgetting about it and I can't remember a single encounter's dialogue.
Maybe you have to wait until further along, but that's a stretch.
updated my collage
Google "semantics" user.
That's what you are arguing about.
My entire post, was saying pistols are shit compared to SMGs, as SMG's are a flat upgrade.
Obviously i'm talking about mechanical pistols, since fucking chemical shooting, AoE blob attacking, 25 ap to fire 1 shot, """pistols"""" are nothing like SMG's at all.
If I say to you, try using a throwing weapon, I don't expect you to respond with "WELL THATS RETARDED BECAUSE EMP ATTACKS WONT WORK ON ANIMALS!".
Welcome. That's where the only stairs down are without AGI checks iirc. You'll want grenades and to turn up combat speed to make locust swarms slightly more bearable.

What is the best gun in the game?
Unironically this. The first interactions with the free drones is them buying info they can't get themselves, using a fucked up cyber bug spy, and wanting you to just let them steal shit from innocent people in need they gave me no reason to like them more than the protectorate.

Is that the one you put in the embassy vents? I was hoping it would have been an actual burrower capable of laying eggs and turning the embassy into a hive but that would have been way too rad.

planning and accounting for luck is part of strategy
Please stop updating your collage and channel your atuism in more productive ways.
How about making a list of every perk, and organizing them by skill requirements, or making a nice crafting guide? How about that huh?
Wouldn't it be more fun then what you are doing now?
>accounting for luck is part of strategy
1/10 I've seen this same retarded argument too many times before.
it's a fact, of course you'll hear it everytime you spout your retarded opinion
>haha these soldiers of a democracy are so stupid unlike these gangsters and anarchists who know what they're doing
Free drone drones actually believe this
You can not under any circumstances prepare for luck.
which core city faction should I side with?
"this enemy got a lucky crit, I prepared for this by bringing a health potion that brought me back to full health"
ZoomerCHADS are too busy listening to hip hop, fucking girls and playing fortnite to focus on under*ail. Kind of cringe that y'all boomers take games so seriously, like go outside lmao.
Preparing for the worst rolls and worst enemy actions possible is definitely a way to prepare for bad luck. If every encounter you're hoping for and banking on getting favorable rolls and enemy movement you're going to have a hard time.
Praetorians. They are based and redpilled.
why does no one talk about the surface? do people even know what it is?
>Protectorate
>democracy
oh honey
Depends on your build, the deside for easy or hard quests, or lore dumps.
Coretech. Energy weapons are nice and electronics sell for alot while being light. They are also right next to the elevator so you dont have to run around. Praetorians are also fun but JKK fucking sucks.
Because why would they care?
Guess how I know you haven't read the lore? Or do you just listen to conspiracy theories? Even if it wasnt the free drones actions are inexcusable at least the protectorate actually helps people.
Ah yes! The perfect scenario! Good thing it's always exactly what you expect and not random at all in any way, otherwise that enemy might get several lucky crits in a row, move somewhere you weren't expecting, or all of your attacks might miss and ultimately make your preparation completely useless.
>Praetorians
>redpilled
They literally say they're anti-racism as you're joining up. They're the opposite of redpilled.
>Protectorate
>Calling anyone else gangster
>Democracy
Sounds like your build sucks user
>changing the subject
Then you admit that you cannot prepare for luck and your game is garbage.
You can find an encyclopedia oddity that implies pretty heavily that, at the very least, your character has never seen or heard of any sort of surface animal. I donno how long people have been living in the underground but that on its own implies that at least a few generations have passed with everyone living underground.
>run by an elected council
>this isnt a democracy because 1 npc mentioned a conspiracy that the protectorate has more power and you should believe it even though there is no evidence because uhhhh
>everything the free drones do is ok! Who cares about railroad lmao those innocent people in need shouldn't have asked for help? Who cares that the free drones arent helping people while the protectorate offers to kill bandits, faceless, etc. And trades with people while also providing free aid? They are fascists cause militarism!!!!!
Free droners are actual smooth brains
The Protectorate is a military faction commanded by general Melek
Zero democracy there. The United Stations is an oligarchy ran by 5 people although Malek is generally considered the de facto ruler because he controls the military arm of the United Stations.
Are cryo grenades worth a damn or should I stick with braaps?
If your build can die in a single turn because one enemy got a bunch of crits or moved to a bad spot or all of your attacks missed, that just means you should be preparing even harder, like using traps and grenades and adrenaline and abusing chokepoints and maybe even stealth. You think you're making a point but all you're doing is proving yourself wrong.
there is nothing in the entire game that you cannot prepare for, you are just retarded and cannot accept that you are not good enough to figure it out for yourself, you are the kind of scrub that complains about mising shots in the original x-coms, a complete and utter casual
>military organized mock elections
Is their a hotkey to reload or auto reload feature somewhere in the menu?
I'v been manually going into my inventory, selecting the ammo and reloading this whole time.
Do you have screenshots that prove the council of five is elected? It's never mentioned as far as I'm aware.
>I donno how long people have been living in the underground
300~400 or so years, but people were still living on the surface 250 years ago, with only some comments from that time saying that it might be game over for the surface soon.
Shift+Q for normal ammo, shift+other keys for special ammo types that I can't recall.
Fascist military dictatorships are the only way humanity can survive and even flourish in the underrail.
Whats worse:
>Normal pistols
>Crossbows without special bolts
After two generations underground the surface would be "one of grandpa's weird stories".
We're several hundred years past that.
>Just have the perfect run!
0/10 I'm going to give you a pass here and say you're a failed troll, now is your chance to move on and do something else.
>there is nothing in the entire game that you cannot prepare for
Correct
>you are just retarded and cannot accept that you are not good enough to figure it out for yourself, you are the kind of scrub that complains about mising shots in the original x-coms, a complete and utter casual
Wrong. You can prepare for some things, you cannot prepare for everything all at once.
Please stop using that term.
I see
you can also use ctrl for assigning more stuff
>>Just have the perfect run!
I was saying the exact opposite you fucking retard.
>>run by an elected council
If killing the competition and holding the rest at gun point is a democratic election, yeah.
>>this isnt a democracy because 1 npc mentioned a conspiracy
Pretty much any non Protectorate affiliated NPC but Tanner shits on the Protectorate, nobody likes them, not even the very neutral and opportunist Oculites do.
>>everything the free drones do is ok!
Nobody said that, but the drones were born because of the protectorate and trying to pretend some train robbery in the name of fighting a bigger evil is a capital sin when the Protectorate's atrocities are not only widely documented but you get to personally take part in those as a player is ridiculous.
Okay, just for you.
The word cryo is sometimes used as a slur for the mentally handicapped.
Please don't post that here. It offends them.
would retard grenades be a better alternative
-1/10 You need to stop, you failed, move on and try again somewhere else.
i like to call them icy braaps but retard grenade is acceptable and accurate.
You ignored everything I said to call me a troll. Now you're saying you won. Every time people do this shit it's because they can't be assed to even try to defend the stupid shit they've been saying. You're just another stereotypical retard who immediately gives up once it gets too hard to prove your worthless point.
I was just trolling. You win.
i did all the quests i could for JKK, and im the arena invictus, but i cant progress any further with their shit? what do? i wanna look at the oliglarch vendors

I have it cranked up to 1000% and it still takes an unreasonable amount of time for the little bastards to do their thing.
They are just tiny insects living their mundane tiny insect lives. They had their own corner of the Black Sea, never bothered anyone. And now you invade their home, what right do you have to complain when they come to defend it?
You said
>You can not under any circumstances prepare for luck.
I said
>you should be preparing even harder, like using traps and grenades and adrenaline and abusing chokepoints and maybe even stealth.
You completely ignored this to call me a troll and say you won. You're still doing it, and it's because it's far easier than to actually argue your point.
>Wasting a single second on tentacle used goods
your character also implies in a quest that he's smelt surface flowers before a long time ago so i dunno
I don't have much of a choice.

>""""""""""cRPG"""""""""

Alright, I tried to help you out, but you refused and kept trying to imply that randomness can be predicted.
Your argument became invalid when you changed the subject a while back, this is my last reply.
HOLY BASED
you can, because there is a limited amount of things that can happen at once, you are bad, and its time to accept it, you can ironman this game without any problems and you can even do it on fucking dominating, there are enough tools to prepare for everything
>trying to imply that randomness can be predicted.
The exact opposite of what I was saying, and now it's not even what you were saying. So you changed your argument and then put words in my mouth. You desperately want an out because you can't defend your assertion. And you're still doing the whole, "I win, you lose," thing, while giving up and saying you're not going to bother replying.
Make a dumb assertion, fail to back it up in any meaningful way, bullshit and say you won, then give up. Typical retard behavior.
long thread im reading it still but gonna post the one problem i encountered as a newbie (and am a bit salty about)
i dont like how certain stats are combined, say, i cant combine some obscure weapons, because each stat gives about 2 bonuses. since its a minmax heavy game, dextery for example gives stealth buffs and strit strike and action point reduction. by this, max dex is best for melees, second best for pist/smg/knives/throwing/fist builds, and third for anything else.
i would rather like it that these 3 aspects of dex were more seperate, so i could run something more ridiculous, say, a stealth shotgun character. besides that, real fun game, enjoying it.
Are non-melee dex builds the worst?
Think about it.
DEX pistol/smg/crossbow:
>Offence
Needs very high Dex + perception
Also needs high agl for movement
>Defence
Needs to dump points into stealth + 2 separate damage mitigation stats
Hundreds of skill points down the drain.
STR rifle/sniper/shotgun:
>Offence
Needs 6-7 STR max, then everything else into perception.
>Defense
No skill point investment required, just wear good armor
I'm trying to justify playing a SMG character but it does not seem worth it.
>you can ironman this game without any problems
On a full PSI build, knowing everything that lies ahead, sure, but 99% of RPGs allow ironman runs, don't pretend other builds have it easy.
which one has the lore dumps? I love that shit
to be fair you shouldn't be on DOMINATING Ironman runs unless you know the game inside out
I keep thinking about trying to make a dex build and I just can't do it unless it's a tincan. Dodge/evasion are such a big point investment, and depending on what kind of build you're doing you can't spare the points at all. It seems like most dex build defensive options are to kill/CC everything in the first turn so you don't die on the second turn.
The only thing really holding you back from a stealth shotgun character is how loud shotguns are, not how the stats work. Either way you can make it work. Dexterity doesn't affect stealth at all by the way, that's Agility.
You only put points into Dodge/Evasion if you want feats, user. Stop being silly.
Are they really as bad as people say?
How do dex gunners live?
By being a tincan.
Armor, shields, and CC just like everybody else.
What sector does the ferryman park in the north?
Oh, so keeping a low armor penalty is not really a viable thing...
There's plenty of good armor that isn't obscenely heavy and your shield should be doing the majority of the work anyway.
oddity:
>*snort* time to *crunch crunch* hack this box for the 5000th time maybe ill get 1 exp for it *wheeze*
classic:
>WHIRRRRRRRRR
>+20000exp
>get to the character creation
>quit because i cannot be bothered to check guides for builds
thank god i didnt buy it
and thats how i know you never ironmaned anything and you are total shit, full psi is mediocre for ironman, the literally go to build for ironman on dominating is fucking assault rifle tincan you mongrel, stop talking about shit you know nothing about
no worries brainlet, there are plenty of other games out there that don't require a modicum of thinking
Sure it is, there's great infused leather armors with low armor penalty, just don't pretend you're gonna be a great tin can with low AP, even a TiChrome armor set with both armor sloping and nimble will still be relatively heavy.
I've heard of nimble tincans but I don't know what kind of builds they are other than nimble and armor sloping.

it is, but it should not be your priority, the best way to avoid death is not to get hit in the first place, the problem with dodge and evasion is that they are based on chance, and that means that sooner or later the dice is going to fuck you up, its good as a side thing to have that can very likely save you when you fuck up, they also take too many points to get on an acceptable level to rely on them and that might leave you without enough damage which is more important in most scenarios, in the end its not that dodge/evasion are bad, its just that they are worse than all the other options you have
drugs, energy shields, heavy armors,CC,proper positioning, stealth and killing shit before it touches you are much better than dodge evasion could ever be
>attacking from stealth cancels stealth, negating the entire point
>you need to rip an online build if you don't want the game to be unplayable
indeed a great amount of intelligence is needed to enjoy this masterpiece of the game.
im honoured, enjoy posting it until the game stops being relevant again (i.e until next week)
I thought we talked about this user.
You need to get help.
Please. We all care about you.
>you need to rip an online build if you don't want the game to be unplayable
false, sorry brainlet
Haven't played in about a year and a half and only made it halfway through before stopping last time.
Is a sledgehammer full strength build viable? Can I realise my dreams of smashing heads all day?
...
How do spears hold up compared to sledge hammers?
false, sorry brainlet.
No, you need grenades and various traps, going full strength will lead you back to character creation.
zoomers are the generation bringing us the worst sodomites and feeding money to the shittiest ""entertainers""
>if I keep shouting insults at people then I'm right!
Not him, I bought this game the other day for $7 and I feel like I wasted my money, this game is terrible.
>tfw you get probed by the faceless in the caverns and they get the location of the huge No Man's Sky logo and your buddies
Where are you in the collage?
i am right though, you don't need guides to play the game unless you want to play the hardest difficulty right off the bat. otherwise you have brain worms or simply cannot read.
You're right it's not that hard, but it really is boring. I got up to level 3 of the GMS compound and just couldn't force myself to play anymore. The combat is about as sharp as a bag of wet mice. The setting is about as enticing as a room temperature TV dinner. Every single minute I spent playing the game, just felt bland and boring.
And I know there's nothing the rabid fans love to hear than "it's just not good", and you're inevitably revving up your keyboards to defend Underrail. Let me stop you right there. It's not like I'm some retarded casual. It's not like I don't have a high tolerance for stupid clunky bullshit. Golden age CRPGs are some of my favorite games. I've beaten Fountain of Dreams for fucks sake. I've spent plenty of time playing stupid stuffy dice rollers without caring how dry they actually are. But this game is so mediocre in every single respect, it lacks any redeeming features in it's entirety. There's no enjoyment to be had. I swear the only people who like it are boomers who have never played a real golden age CRPG except maybe wizardry. It suffers from the same shit as Wasteland 2, but it lacks any connection to a beloved game. It's just generic, tasteless, post-apocalyptic indie nonsense.
Not sorry.
no? Why are you asking him such a braindead question?
why can't we just get along fellas?
"The (under) rail of personal growth must be greased with the blood of unfortunate inhabitants. Lockpick to the keyhole, lol, more like a pick to the head. Peace out, zoners"
>hes so bad at the game he cant read the traits and make a build
holy seething brainlet
On dominating, even someone with 3 con and psi empathy can usually take a hit or two as long as it's not a sniper/crossbow aimed shot or something. So there's more margin for error than you'd think. The biggest detriment to the build is really just enemy count. You can delete 2-3 people per turn and often just immediately drop combat and restealth because all witnesses are dead, but as you step up difficulty settings the sheer volume of enemies really forces most builds into bear trap caltrop warcrime shenanigans. Snipers specifically really needs psi for forcefield and CC, and metathermic destabilization for when you really need to kill like 12 enemies with one bullet and you don't have time to dick around waiting for gas grenades to stack.
Your to far gone.
You are just wasting your time and making the thread look bad.
No one here of value wants to see your collection of new player reditors making mistakes.
This sort of thing falls into the same category as epic fail compilations and that died over 15 years ago.
Do something productive with your time and autism.
Because that's what happens when retarded Yea Forums elitism and Discord faggotry meet, a bunch of idiots vehemently denying a good game has any faults because I'M MOAR HARDCOER DEN U if you dare complain about anything in this game, coupled with the wishy washy hypocrisy of a bunch of retards who shitpost about anyone not daring to play DOMINATING but also backpedalling hard when people point out how DOMINATING only makes the game's flaws all the more evident as an RPG.
I love the game but these threads are frankly embarassing, the retarded back and forth between apologists trying to shut off any criticism by yelling about casuals, zoomers or reddit every fucking thread while other retards respond out of anger adding fuel to the fire.
What's worse is that Styg's own behaviour only encourages all of this.
>What's worse is that Styg's own behaviour only encourages all of this.
oh that is what is fueling this.
I was wondering what would make a person actually spend hours searching through reddit postings to make something like that, but if he's getting up cummies from the dev it makes sense.
>muh edgy meme e-celeb youtuber dictates what games I buy
>hey hey people XD
>merchants guild XD
embarrassing, especially you gremlins who are somehow proud of this. It's physically painful seeing you 95IQ gamers infect every place of discussion for a game 24 hours after sseth releases a video.
>make a build by yourself
>find out 5h in that it's unreliable and you have to start over
wtf i love shitty game design now
it's like fallout 2 if the devs were like "haha what if deathclaws could pop up behind you anywhere at any time?"
Play as a hammer wizard
I tend to check the games that earn the most shitposting on Yea Forumsee. That simply means it's something polarizing that people feel strongly about and may be worthy making my own opinion on.
Nothing wrong with the source you get to know new games from.
>Can't finish the game with an unreliable or non meta build
You're a shitter harry
Shut the fuck up, Toast.
They're great if:
They're at maximum level
You have Jumping Bean
Low light
Opponents are yelled
You have precognition on
Nimble
Cloaking device against ranged
Greater siphoner boots at least (You might want something different as armor)
No.
Who's Toast anyways?
>regenerating health
>paralyzing poison
>BUT ALSO hyperallergy that damages and dazes you if you try to pop an antidote
Bear traps all day every single day
is there anything in the burrower cave gorky tells you not to go into
How the fuck do I beat the BLACKED crawler near cross railings, I have to jump into his den without being able to set up traps, has so many HPs he fucking ignores napalm grenades, and has so much stealth that unless I drop the flare in the EXACT square he is hiding I can't even see him, and then he hits like a fucking truck. I could oneshot him if I managed to fucking get a clean shot but I just can't see a way to do it, is there another entrance to his lair I haven't found?
A corpse with some generic loot and a trilobite oddity I guess, or maybe it was obsidian.
Yes, you will find pain and suffering in there
No.
Good luck.
There have been frequent underrail threads hitting bump limit for years you absolute fucking faggot.
i can't even fathom what a miserable fuck you have to be to think sseth is an "edgy meme e-celeb".
Underrail thread activity had a recent boom after the seth video tho. I had to stick to /vg/ general for underrail discussion until recently
>-25% hp
>Get a paladin bubble whenever you need it
>With expansion also get bonus AP and movement + cooldown reduction
Why WOULDN'T you take the pill?
Seems like it should cost more imo.
Can't deny that. It's a dumb complaining either way. Wouldn't want to distract from the endless supply of shitty anime tits and smash thread wouldnt we
>rpg
Does this game have some type of card or gambling minigame?
If no, no buy.
is grenadier better than psi
can I use psy to hover my grenades to enemies
I just popped into the thread. I for one welcome all this new awareness. Our favorite serb deserves it
It did cost more. I think the cost was reduced after a patch or the expansion. Honestly worth taking the pill just for force field
I remenber the days before the review dropped
UR threads were more peaceful
I beat the game on normal with tin can rifle back when it first came out.
Should I try it again on hard or dominating?
When should I go to the Foundry? Done a large amount of Core City stuff and all of Rail Crossing.
Not really. The boom came with Expedition. Sseth's video more than a full month later just slowed their decline, but even then there were threads every day that reached bump limit.
>the spoilered question
Unfortunately not. It's a game with psi power fuckery, yes, but it's not a game ABOUT it, which precludes it from having niche powers like that one.
Perhaps one day there'll be something that explores the sheer potential of telekinesis properly, but until then psionic punching and force fields will have to do.
Foundry, core city, and railing crossing are all on the same power level roughly. The next jump in difficulty is Institute i think
I asked this already in another thread but is melee and guns at the same time viable? like gun them down and then shank them when they get close?
Also intimidation or persuasion?
Is dominating really as hard as they make it seem?
Like, mandatory save scumming difficulty?
Or still beatable but hard even with a good build and game knowledge difficulty?
Can i repair the Naga Protector after an attack to full HP somehow?
underrail.com
Persuation is always useful outside combat
Intimidation is the 'go-to' skill for NON psi users
Nope, its downright unfair savescum territory. Not for the weak.
>is melee and guns at the same time viable
No.
Because you have to spread your stats way to thin.
I actually tried doing pistol/knife and I could not clear depot A with it. Made it to the final boss but still failed. Also was not that fun.
I have never gotten value from intimidation
>Like, mandatory save scumming difficulty?
Only retards and scrubs think that
But yes, dominating is really dominating, it requires you to know the game well, pull a proper min maxing and everything boils to preparation
The other day I did Silent Isle in dominating, it got somewhat easy when I got traps up, got sure step and threw caltrops everywhere, and chunk molotovs everywhere
Dismiss what casuals tell you, however, think well before you go for it
How do these things hide ? I have like 9 Perception, and one will walk across a fucking flare and some caltrops without getting "reavealed" and I'll have to physically run the fuck into him. Same thing with the Faceless Gaunts, are they fucking CLOAKING themselves or just so good at "hiding" they can stand on top of a burning flare and not be seen ?
Shit makes no god damn sense FUCK.
if you have some functioning braincells then its not that hard, its just a bit though at the start since some higher level enemies appear in lower level areas, but if you have a good build and know what you are doing its not that hard, but you should expect every hard fight from hard to be completely bullshit so, your build needs to be better and use all the tools you have
although if everything else fails bear traps + caltrops + gas grenades literally shit on everything in dominating
Fug.
What about hard then?
Is hard a fun challenge for vet players or quicksave quickload land?
Did you got Yell ability?
No, i didnt even know about it
Can I use a barrel in core city as storage? Im tired of running back to SGS to store shit in my room.
burn them, burn them all.
underrail.com
It's a wide range ability that reduces the combat stats of your enemies
Also stealthed intimidated targets will be revealed, this includes crawlers
Have fun
I just don't like save scumming often.
Is hard the way to go?
Its for vets only that know the ins and outs of the game. Someone else that actually completely it should comment on it, not me
so it turns out you don't even need higher level molotovs on dominating
just a lot of gas
You can literally drop your stuff on the ground and it will be fine, nobody will loot it
WAR CRIMES
You can leave shit on the floor as storage.
>I just don't like save scumming often.
Since you keep thinking it's a save scumming fest it's clear you're retarded
Play on easy, it's more of your level
Again, it requires proper preparation and well though strategy, if you want to keep repeating and parroted shit retards tell you here, then by means go for it.
You'll be dying and reloading. More often than on other difficulties. But true save scumming? No, you don't have to.
Oh nice, didnt know if shit would despawn or anything
Does throwing legos and gas nades break stealth?
Never tried the stealth setup play style before.
You have to do that for every fight?
Yeah hards probably what your looking for
Still gonna be quickloading till you GIT GOOD tho
It's funny how Killing the Beast was one of my least favorite quests before war crimes
After war crimes, Killing the beast has become one of my favorite quests, besides Coretech warehouse mission
>Does throwing legos and gas nades break stealth?
yes
>You have to do that for every fight?
no
user i'm asking a question and you are implying implications.
Please, be less retarded. For the good of everyone around you.
>Does throwing legos and gas nades break stealth?
Sadly yes.
t. thief TCer in Dominating
>You have to do that for every fight?
Not necessarily but you get a lot by stealthing and doing a correct preparation
That is save scumming tho
Damn.
Guess I'll come back when I'll have 18 perception ahah...
And I gave you the proper answer.
You will savescum a lot in dominating if you're retarded, maybe not even win.
If you have an actual working brain you will be fine, you will be highly challenged, but it's doable.
Good enough for you?
Do you know who are these people?
what
what do you propose the correct action is after dying then if not reloading
Important to note that gas grenades draw attention as units walk to it to disarm it, but caltrops dont. Toss gas grenades into fields of caltrops.
Save scumming is reloading repeatingly till you finally hit that 21% shot
Do something stupid, dying, then reloading and using a better strategy is not save scumming
>You'll be dying and reloading. More often than on other difficulties. But true save scumming? No, you don't have to.
Thanks anons, hard it is.
No. save scumming is save, reload, shoot, Did it miss? reload. That kinda shit.
I dont, and I'm fairly certain that's just a random encounter, and those names seems like an injoke of the devs
Yes. Thank you.
Ironmanning
I guess I'll have to rely on me good throwing arm then
should I take guns or melee with it
also are scopes mandatory on sniper rifles or I can make plain ol nuggets too
>Throw caltrops
>Cheese the AI that refuses to step on caltrops, instead wasting time going around
>Throw gas grenade inside caltrop pool
>Retarded lemings rush to disarm the fart can
You know
I'm fairly certain there are things that not even Dominating can change, which dumbs down the game
But also without it the game becomes 100% harder
Yeah thats vido, cheda, lepa and crni. Good friends all.
Save scumming is turning 14% chance to hit into 100% by saving and reloading every time you miss.
Or making enemies always miss you.
Or always getting perfect throws.
Using those kind of tactics is save scumming.
Dying and retrying the fight from the start is normal gameplay.
What i would give for spirit poison to be caltropable
god forbid we get something on this board other than the usual stock of shitter threads and smash arguments
Adventurer enters the Hanging Rat. Bartender speaks.
>Sup, ugly.
>The fuck?
>Nothin', I've just seen a lot of people here but you've been the ugliest I've ever seen.
>Whatever you say, ugly.
>You're so ugly, you'd have to hang meat around your neck to get a rathound to eat you.
>You're so ugly, you'd have to pay the mirror to reflect you.
>Alright, alright. Enough. You buyin shit or not?
Adventurer looks at the same menu every other bartender has. Buys strength steak since he ran out after being overencumbered again.
>Why did you build the hanging rat here?
>Sure you wanna hear it? It's a long story.
>Yeah.
>To get away from your ugly face.
WDYD?
who the fuck is sseth
Cheda the rat,Boban the clairvoyant,Slavko the pretty,Mile the black, the boys themselves
Me and the boys getting ready to dominate
My understanding of stealth having never done it as a build is that you scout out possible encounters and then prepare accordingly. Stealthing through an unexplored location and seeing a group of enemies you can't or don't want to take in a head on fight, set up traps or caltrops or gas grenades, and then start the fight and lure the guys into your American ninja warrior obstacle course.
At least, that's what I'd do playing a meathead AR tin can build who once in a while wishes I could do a bit of scouting without save scumming to set up for an encounter.
I'd eat my own ass for some acid grenades. I know they'd probably be kinda redundant considering you have access to fire bombs and HE grenades, but another layer of tile based damage would be awesome.
Seems like a very slow play style compared to our tin cans.
You can get to the chokepoints and completely fill the one doorway with caltrops, beartraps and gas grenades
is appropriate amounts of amatol a valid lockpicking tool in this game
Stealth has other things that can speed up encounters, I know there's a couple feats that let you do stupid damage out of steatlh, but you're right and it's the main reason I haven't bothered to make a stealth character so far. It seems like it'd double the length of every big fight and slow down your exploration a lot. I can only imagine what a stealth spec ops SMG build would be like when you have to deal with shit like death stalkers.
Some special named mooks, the game randomly spawns them together with other stuff like the two headed mutant, the arsonist, the fisherman or the wandering hobo vendor.
I do this anyway with my tin can, and honestly I'd expect every build to abuse choke points in one way or another.
With stealth you can get there safely. You can also break mid-combat with stealth. Not really sure what the applications of that is
I never unlocked my psi potential and I'm at core city. Am I doing it wrong?
