Death Stranding

It legitimately blows my mind that so many people do not seem to understand what this game is. It is such an incredibly simple premise gameplay wise.

It is literally just a Sci-Fi Danger Hiking Simulator, that's it, that's the fucking game.

You know how your horse would stumble and fall if you rode over bad terrain in RDR2? or how you couldn't climb in rainy weather in BoTW? Kojima literally made a game entirely out of that. The entire environment is the enemy in Death Stranding. This is why you have to adjust carry load, decide on outfits, use ladders, perform first aid.

Why is there still such confusing about this? Are people just incapable of accepting what the game is?

The stupidity of walking simulator, no matter how complex the mechanics seem is that everybody could just walk and it's a part of the normal life, not something to be so excited about.

Ico confirmed to be garbage.

I'm excited for it, it seems like an extremely lonely and extreme sci-fi hiking simulator

>everybody could just walk

Daily reminder that Ubisoft already made a mountain hiking simulator with Steep and it’s actually fun because you can also ski, snowboard, toboggan, fly and paraglide from whichever location you climb to.

Death Stranding however has a ladder. Yeah I’m thinking it’s a walking simulator.

Ico is pretty bad, yeah.

He can fly

Zoom zoom zoom.

>hiking on steep
>when you're given a rocket hanglider to fly anywhere you like
wtf user

>The entire environment is the enemy in Death Stranding. This is why you have to adjust carry load, decide on outfits, use ladders, perform first aid.

BASED KOJIMA DID IT AGAIN

>Burial: Cremated, Ashes scattered
To this day, some say he still flies.

Yeah, but he's only a man in a funny red sheet. He's afraid to fly.

>that's the fucking game
It isn't. Explain the monsters, the enemies, and the WW1/2 realm, if all it is is a Sci-Fi Danger Hiking Simulator.

>that's the fucking game
Oh shit thanks user, I though it had invisible monsters, goo bosses, WW1 and skeleton soldiers. It's just a hiking game, phew

So what you're saying is... it's a PvE game

>walking simulator made by Nintendo
>OOOOOOHHHH SO REVOLUTIONARY WOW GOTD ALL DECADES NINTENDO DOES IT AGAIN OH WOWEE WOWEE
>Walking simulator made by literally anyone else
>WOW TRASH TRASH TRASH ALL YOU DO IS WALK IN BETWEEN CUTSCENES, IT'S NOT EVEN A GAME
If death stranding had a Nintendo logo this thread wouldn't even be happening. Yea Forums is the only place on the internet that unjustifiably shots on this *unreleased* game like this.

I’m hyped for it because I’m not a brainlet who takes everything at face value. Much like Michael Jackson sympathizers

Ico's a platformer with more in common with Another World, Heart of Darkness or Oddworld.

can you not devolve everything you see into a flamewar, please?

Hiking is max comfy. Also sometimes it’s a very rocky and wooded area and you’re only trying to adjust your position. The rocket jet pack would just take longer and be overkill.

Not claiming yourself to be a brainlet does not spare you from being suspected as one, brainlet.

>The entire environment is the enemy
I love when Kojimafags act as if anything this hack does is new.

100% this. brb gotta go take something over to my friend's house so i am going to put on an exosuit, climb across different pieces of wild terrain (they exist in my city after all) and get attacked by weird apparition things that pull me underground

real life is so boring desu

>Platformer.
>A game where you spend more time walking around, pushing blocks, climbing ropes, smacking bad guys and navigating than actually jumping around.
Yeah, and Metroid is a run and gun. Fuck off.

>balance that is always a factor, not just in one scripted area like any other game, that is also linked to the distribution of your weight
>a physical inventory in which all items are on your person and count for your weight instead of bethesda weight, all items on your back can be dropped or lost
>seamless death in which you have 2 alternate realms that you go to with no interruption when you die, and you have to complete their challenge to come back to life
Name one (1) game.

>The entire environment is the enemy in Death Stranding.
This is as retarded as the people who claim The Wire is their favorite show and then say that "the city is the main character."

>hiking in steep
>literally NOTHING will ever happen
>you will just walk until you reach a destination
>seriously, literally NOTHING will happen in the meantime
idk user i think it's really weird that you are deriding DS as a walking sim when you seem to enjoy such an insanely boring gameplay experience

>>seamless death in which you have 2 alternate realms that you go to with no interruption when you die, and you have to complete their challenge to come back to life

I am curious about this. It seems cool, but I fear that it would stop being cool after the first deaths and then it would be just a chore.

Maybe the ocean realm depending on how it works, but no way surviving in an active warzone with tanks and everything is going to be boring. We've seen WW1 and WW2 as well so it has two different varieties, meaning even less possibility to get boring.

I was quoting the environment, you stupid mother fucker. Holy shit. But if you insist.
>balance that is always a factor, not just in one scripted area like any other game,
improper environmental traversal in Red Dead 2 will lead to instant falls and deaths.
>>a physical inventory in which all items are on your person
Star Shitizen does this.
>seamless death in which you have 2 alternate realms that you go to with no interruption when you die, and you have to complete their challenge to come back to life
Basically just demon's Souls.

Congratulations.

Artfags are cancer.

It's more depending from how variable it is. If I die multiple times in a single place, and everytime I have to do the same 5-10 minutes WW1 miniquest it's not going to stay engaging.

But you can ski and do challenges with other players and other stuff that I listed. Lol you’re getting way too upset over having your game get called a walking sim. It’s pretty obvious it is. At best it will become a Minecraft game.

RDR2, which OP already referenced, has a much less sophisticated version of what we'll be seeing in DS and it's mostly just based on the rage engine and how it handles momentum. Star Citizen is not out yet. Demon's Souls does not have two alternate realms, your player character has two alternate states that impact some stats and also how the game world interacts with you.

so basically, only one of those answers was partially correct.

>"OH HAHAHA - I SAID IT AGAIN Yea Forums! W-WALKING SIMULATOR! Now if you excuse me I have to go back to my jumping on dicks while cosplaying as a gay Italian plumber simulator, after playing my shooting Nazis for the 800th time simulator, and then my fighting game with vidya characters that's actually an over zealous party game!"

This. BoTW was a walking simulator but now your weapons shatter to pieces when you sneeze. Even the Minish Cap had more soul and better moments. My previous roommate gave me shit about shitting of his precious Nintendo game because I called him out for being a faggot basedboy everytime he screamed "SOUL!" when fucking pots clattered when he cooked shitfruit and AIDs mushroom kabobs or said "AESTHETIC" when he was climbing a snowy mountain while Link looked like a tranny. Where is my former Kidtendo roommate now? Back to living with his mommy and daddy, while I fugg my gf everynight after playing PS4 or PC games with her.

>RDR2 having balance
You cannot fall over unless you walk off a damned cliff or get hit by something that's moving.
>star shitizen
I was unaware of this, but does it do it in the same way as DS? As in, you can actually lose them if they get knocked off of you by an enemy or terrain?
>basically demon souls
Nice bait.

You're not going to be dying multiple times in the same place because whenever you die to the B.Ts (how you enter the WW realm), a crater appears where you died, permanently.

>get your argument completely torn apart
>"Lol you're just upset"
Really user? Skiing and doing challenges are not hiking. You said you enjoyed the hiking part of Steep, and I explained accurately that hiking in a game like that would be boring as shit.

>durr you enjoyed the hiking in Steep therefore Steep is a walking sim and Death Stranding isn’t
Stay upset retard

jesus christ lmao

Cope

>hike through wasteland murrica
>hike through some goo underworld upon death
>hike through alternate dimensions
You're still hiking.

>OH HAHAH I POSTED IT AGAIN THE SAME FUCKING IMAGE THAT IS USED BY EVERYONE AS IF IT CAN SUPPORT ANY ARGUMENT SEEING AS HOW IT'S OFTEN USED BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN A THREAD MAKING ENTIRELY CONTRADICTORY POINTS HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Sounds like a fucking chore, you know, menial shit people do for money IRL.

It's called a core mechanic brainlet.
Just because Cuckborne had a jump button didn't make it a platformer

HoD was so full of soul

>hiking through a warzone where everyone is shooting everywhere including at you
Nice try.

Uh oh I hurt the pedo sympathizers feelings

This. It sounds like shit.

That's what they're showing in the gameplay footage. The game seems to really want the player to avoid combat (probably due to the odds rarely being in your favour) and opt for an escape route instead.
You never actively engage in combat unless you have must to defend yourself.

>but does it do it in the same way as DS?
Yes, dumb ass. Inventory items don't exist in an pocket dimension and actually take up space. Anyone can interact with it and they can be lost or destroyed.
>can only fall over by walking off a cliff
Except that not getting killed when on horseback actually requires not riding around like a moron.

And for Demon's Souls it's essentially just a tweaked version of that system. Die, turn into a phantom, have to either kill boss or boss tier enemy to revive and can also get your lost items (souls) back. This game does absolutely nothing new or revolutionary, like you want to believe.

Your company is doomed. Your public image is getting worse every day.

Kojima is FREE now and you have absolutely zero way of controlling him. You're boiling with anger and there's nothing you can do about it. Delicious.

They didn't show the war realm in the footage at all you dumbass.

Every 3rd shooter is a walking simulator. Get over it, Yea Forums.

>The Blue Period (Spanish: Período Azul) is a term used to define the works produced by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904 when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors.
>Picasso was influenced by a journey through Spain and by the suicide of his friend Carlos Casagemas, who took his life at the L’Hippodrome Café in Paris, France by shooting himself in the right temple on February 17, 1901.
>Picasso, normally an outgoing socializer, withdrew from his friends.
>Other frequent subjects include female nudes and mothers with children. Solitary figures dominate his Blue Period works. Themes of loneliness, poverty and despair pervade the works as well.

Boomer here, can confirm Ico is shit

>Ohh no, your Norman is tilting to the left because you're carrying too much weight on the left side of you backpack.
>Oh shit you're waddling all over the place because norman i s carrying water.
>oh shit, you're walking on water and your backpack is heavy, you're gonna have to leave something behind.

so exciting

This but unironically.

If they can make traversal meaningful and interactive, it will be fun.
