I never finished the game. Always got stuck at the same race event. There's one late game event on the track that has a jump right before the finish line and a small shortcut on a almost 90 degree turn. My Acura always got BTFO on the last lap by some screw up when I'm using that shortcut.

Going from Midnight club back UG is almost impossible. Everything is too easy and slow now. The nos feels like nothing now, MC3 nos felt like popping a nitro charge from redline. The only NFS that actually gave me this feel of being fast as fuck was Prostreet with the speed races.

Rubberbanding in Underground was weird.
It was seemingly race specific.
Some races seem to barely have any, other, like a very late game, 6 lap race had pure bullshit one

Here's something that's always bothered the shit out of me in all my years playing Most Wanted, you can get junkman markers for just about every part in the game except for Nitrous in career mode, despite not only saying you could earn one in the marker screen but an icon existing for it too.
So pretty much the only way to get it in career mode is hacking, odd.

I win but the "top speed" screen gave a value for the other guy of approx 3-400 mph. I don't know if it was catch-up gone wrong or just a strange glitch.

The problem is, firefox says its a virus when i try to download it, so i'm torn between it being a false positive due to hexedit and injecting shenanigans it uses, or i am about to start mining for the motherland.

You're thinking of Ferrari, who are so concerned with status that you can't use their cars in any game modes with police present. Status was secondary to making the fastest fucking death-trap your Italian eggheads could put together at the time, at least before the buyouts and various companies deciding to go for the status-symbol market instead of the cocaine-fueled speedfreak.

There are too many potential vectors for microtransaction bullshit which will drag out the grind for parts if you're not willing to pay - trusting/putting faith in an EA game to not try and fuck you every step of the way is a dangerous road to travel.

NFS3 onwards. 2 was pretty close, I think. 3 was noticeably different, police behavior and player abilities, even the tracks themselves weren't 1:1 ports and were more like ground-up rebuilds with different lighting and textures (one thing that comes to mind is the famous covered bridges at Hometown- the height sign is totally different between platforms). NFS4 and Porsche Unleashed continued the trend, but graphical naggles and worse skyboxes aside, the PC versions are far superior because the PS1 just couldn't keep up with what the devs wanted to include by that point. HP2 went back to the PS2 being the lead platform and the other platforms being hasty clones of it (although the PC version is still head and shoulders above GC/Xbox due to 60fps, multiplayer, and a couple carryovers from the PS2 like individual car HUDs), and so far as I know Underground onwards are identical other than aspect ratio and graphics tweaks to allow at least 30fps across all platforms.
