>Sakura wars looks bad >Gameplay looks like shit >its just another cheap musou clone Holyshit you fags couldn't be more wrong It looks fucking great Everything looks top notch, the animations looks fucking great, every character seems to play differently.
I liked the one for Wii and this one looks fucking great. But sadly its a PS4 exclusive so unless it comes to PC I wont play it.
James Mitchell
>ps4 only Censorship and low sales incoming. Should have made it for Switch.
Carter Jenkins
Wait it's not a SRPG? I'm significantly less interested now.
Ryder Lopez
PC when?
Carter Morgan
I think it is an action game. I haven't seen any combat though.
Jackson Perry
I was not prepared for that gameplay trailer. Not that I don't like it, but it's a complete 180 for the mech part.
Ryan Russell
Did you play the SRPG parts of the older games?
Cameron Miller
Kubo only did the Japanese team and Japanese side characters China team was done by K-On's character artist from the anime British team is by SAO's LN artist German team is by GUP and Strike Witches character designer.
Kevin Diaz
Game looks great. But Sony can still suck it and I won't be buying it until it hits other platforms. Fuck Sony.
Benjamin Morgan
Seething tendies :^)
Landon Cox
I dislike models, but other than that it looks pretty good. Bunbun's characters look much better than everyone else's, but it's not surprising.
Nolan James
>nagoshi changed sakura wars to real time combat >changed yakuza 7 to turn based combat what did he mean by this?
Jonathan White
??? Yes? The gameplay is perfectly serviceable.
Logan Foster
get a windows 95 era pc or emulate the dreamcast versio
Charles Hughes
Yeah, they were perfectly serviceable, but I wouldn't call them so outstandingly fantastic that swapping out the SRPG portion is a terrible error, let alone an unrecoverable one. The game's focus has always been tilted more to the character interaction adventure story side.
Jonathan Wood
and the gameplay here looks perfectly serviceable too, so what's the difference?
Charles Long
It was the best looking game at TGS by far. Honestly hype as fuck for it at this point.
I own a PS4 but I'll rather wait until it's available on PC. That said, I don't understand why is this game a thing; Sakura Wars is a relic of the 90s and has no place on the modern gaming landscape.
Julian Gray
I've never played a Sakura Wars game and I don't like srpgs. But this looks alright, I like those little mech designs and the action combat. Sorry actual fans, I'm part of the problem.
Matthew Morales
The SRPG part of the older games wasn't really important. People here claim it was SNES era Fire Emblem tier and a fundamental part of the series, but in reality it was even more simplistic than a modern SRW game and it was just a very small part of the game, which always have been first and foremost a dating sim.
Jayden Bell
So's FF7, but that's coming back too.
Easton Reyes
I think the gameplay looks good, but jesus, I fucking hate the way the did the lips on the girls. It looks they did a Conan O'brien tier mouth-over with a doll's mouth on top of an anime character.
At any rate, it's probably been censored to hell and back anyway, so none of it matters anyway.
Josiah Green
They conceal feminine nudity with modest camera angles.
FFVII is kept relevant by nostalgia. Absolutely nobody cares about Sakura Taisen.
Colton Thompson
You're looking at it from the point of view of a demographic that has almost no nostalgia for it because it was never actually released to them. On the other hand, Sega is a Japanese company in Japan, where they polled Japanese gamers and every year for years on end the results kept getting topped by, "We want Sakura Taisen".
Tons of nostalgia exists, it's just that most of it is from outside our local neighborhood.
Disgusting the amount of not weebs who keep begging for an English dub
Connor Powell
can I fuck her ? if so, will buy
Zachary Mitchell
Yes.
Brandon Wood
Nice but they lost me if it's going to be too much dating sim and the story is going to be retarded like usual. I adore the setting and the music, but I hated how much the actual srpg gameplay was more of an afterthought and it focused more on the VN/dating sim elements. Let's see how it turns out.
Sebastian Gomez
but muh murican nostalgia
Jordan Flores
i don't think the amount of dating sim/action would change with this new game, if anything it would be more skewed towards the dating sim parts cause they have to sell this new set of women to a franchise that is run by nostalgia at this point. You can still listen to the soundtracks i guess
Samuel Bennett
And I still can't decide which of the new set I'd aim for first.
Sega really showed that shit way too early. Surprised that Sakura Wars isn't multiplat given how big the Switch is in Japan.
Like this will only do alright in the west.
Carson Sanders
Looks way too good to be true. As a long time fan, I couldnt be happier. This really feels lile a new Sakura Game on new consoles.
Camden Foster
I have no idea what's being said, but it's nice to be playing a MC who has some actual character. Even if it's goofiness up to him being a complete dork, that's a lot better than standard template everyman.
Josiah Young
I'm still impressed how people in the west never bother to check Japanese sales numbers for this sort of games before mentioning Switch.
Jace Wright
I'll buy it when it comes out on PC.
Ayden White
I'm just wondering with how well FE did overall that a SRPG dating Sim would also do alright on the Switch. The Wii did bomb I guess.
How did VC4 do in Japan? That's the closest comparison I have.
Ian Taylor
Yeah fuck beat em up garbage. Completely uninterested in remakes that change the gameplay this much. If the original SRPG gameplay was so bad, why didn't they just fix it? Isn't that the point of a remake, to fix the original release and improve on it?
Jaxson Roberts
They're not confirmed dead. They just went missing.
>How did VC4 do in Japan? Unfortunately it didn't perform really well.
Lincoln Rodriguez
>How did VC4 do in Japan? >PS4 62,921 Week 1, 76,778 by the last time it made it to top 20. >NSW 5,596 Week 1, never made it to top 20 after that.
Samuel Turner
>Evil Sakura
I thought she got married to MC-kun at the end of 4? How could he let this happen to her? That's a shame. At least Sakura Wars seems like a safe bet to sell pretty well. Still weird about its exclusivity, but whatever.
Brayden Anderson
>How could he let this happen to her? We're totally getting a branwashed Oogami too for sure.
Jose Scott
The Switch version came out really late didn't it? Smash was around the corner so it may have gotten eaten?
Overall, those aren't great sales. I wish Sega would publish international sales because I remember the Switch version generating a lot of buzz in the west.
David Richardson
New main character has to fight someone I guess. Weird how the guys are barely in the marketing. New MC looks like a lot of fun.
David Miller
>playstation or switch game gets ported to pc >fucking xbox button prompts everywhere Fuck you Microsoft! I won't forgive you for this. PC != Xbox. Fuck your shitbox and fuck your shit buttons!
Jack Campbell
Right now, the various editions of Shin Sakura Taisen that Amazon.co.jp has for preorder are at 5th, 8th, 14th, and 41st place on the PS4 games sales chart. Still three months away from release, though.
Jackson Jackson
It'll probably peak at 2 because Pokémon won't leave for a while.
David Hall
Well, the previous two MCs had some character themselves: >Oogami A hotblooded guy with a natural charisma that made him a top tier leader. He was the boss for four games straight, commanding four different squads across the world, and then settled down. In the fifth game, he was replaced by: >Shinjiro In comparison to Oogami, he's a meek little Japanese boy, but still an upbeat go-getter who doesn't back down. His meek demeanor is especially apparent when thrust into his station in AMERICA where everybody else is loud and rowdy and aggressive. It actually takes him a while to get everybody to stop being so dismissive of and guarded around him.
This new guy seems to be more straight-laced on the surface, but is really a goof who can go with the flow, perhaps even more of a lady killer than Oogami.
Wait, is- oh, it's- it's not an SRPG anymore?! Well, that's surprising... But yeah, lets be honest, the combat gameplay was always second fiddle to the dating sim.
Charles Hernandez
>that technique is that one of Rurouni Kenshins? I sweat that looks like a Hiten Mitsurugi move i've seen but that's a completely different series
Nathaniel Moore
So the new guy is Ichigo's dad. Also it's kind of nice that Sega let the original series end. Oogami married Sakura and he had his happy ending.
Until now.
Xavier Campbell
the themesongs, especially this newest remix, are really good. Been listening to them all weekend
revision 1 is still my favoritethe new game take place 10-20 years after 4 so if anything, he's oogami's son
Hudson Price
Even games that come out on PS4 and Switch on the same date usually sell two or three times more on the PS4.
Aaron Kelly
the people that say this is like a musou have obviously never played musou games. i really hate when secondaries shit on my favorite genre because they're angry about something.
this game plays like a fucking typical arpg. complete with party member switching.
James Sanchez
I doubt that Oogami married anyone other than Sakura. This guy could just be his own person but Japan loves that shit. Hopefully if he is his kid, they comment and give an answer about his mom.
Angel Butler
VC4 had some weird choices for character design. Whereas VC1 had just a fistful of lowkey 90s anime mixed in (save for Selvaria, who was supposed to be a bit out of place), VC4 sat at a spot that wasn't anime enough for people who like anime but was too anime for people who don't. It needed to either dial it up or dial it down. It had poor art direction.
I would consider it a bad gauge for how anime games from Sega can do.
Carter Garcia
Didnt Builders outpace on Switch? Initial sales sure but Switch is oddly evergreen in that regard. I find it hard to that the Japanese Switch and PS4 audiences are that exclusive to one another.
Parker Baker
>I hope it comes to the west user, they announced the localization immediately after the game first announced.
Justin Allen
>Oogami married Sakura Not really. you get to pick oogami's lover in 4. If you have been carrying over saves from 1-3. Your main 2 girls have a bloodbath love triangle. it's fun. New guy is not related to Oogami at all. His name is Seijuro Kamiyama. the game is set 12 years after 5.
Benjamin Ortiz
The games make it really seem like Sakura is the end girl. It would be dumb to not at least show what happened during those 12 years. Oogami marrying a random makes no sense and him not showing up would be dumb considering Sakura is all evil now.
reading that it baffles me why the english translation of sakura taisen 1 is on the saturn rather than the dreamcast
Lincoln Peterson
actual fans only care about the vn stuff anyways
Michael Hill
>the new game take place 10-20 years after 4 so if anything, he's oogami's son That's doubtful, considering Seijirou was born three years before the start of Sakura Taisen 1.
i'm not saying that soujirou is oogami's son, 'im only correcting the guy i replied to that he's ichiro's dad and saying if anything he's his son by giving him the rough timeline of the new game compared to the original 4
Jace Gutierrez
You're in the basement considering yourself lucky you weren't spotted by the women's bath when the Chinese girl walks up and is startled to see you standing by it. Timer's running, and your available responses are:
>Women's bath?! I didn't even notice. >You're wrong, this is a misunderstanding! >No problem! I'm a woman!
>>Sakura wars looks bad >>Gameplay looks like shit >>its just another cheap musou clone It's just Yakfags buttmad Nagoshi stole Yakuza's action combat and gave it to Sakura wars.
Kinda interested in it. What's the game about? Only knowledge I have about the series is from the 2000 anime. Kinda sad that they didn't use the character from that anime. But from what I've read, they changed the character each time. Anyway, where's Sumire in the 2020 version. The redhead is Kanna right? The brown one is probably Maria (white hair chicks are usually russian). The green girl is probably Iris. Could be Kohran, but she's blond. So I doubt that.
Adam Gonzalez
What's the game about? Kinda interested since I've just rewatched the old anime a last month. Heard that a game coming out. Anyway from this , why isn't there a Sumire clone? The red hair is obviously Kanna. Brown girl is Maria, white hairs girls are usually russian. The girl in green is either Iris or Kohran. But I'm leaning towards Iris since she's blonde. Dude is Ohgami.
Henry Butler
There doesn't need to be a Sumire clone because the actual Sumire is still there as the new manager of the theatre.
Wait. Is this a sequel? Heard from someone that the girl in the mask in the trailer IS Shinguji Sakura. Thought that shit was whack. So I just ignored it.
Cooper Kelly
You have to?
John Jackson
>What's the game about? Set in 1940, World War 2 never happened, the Imperial Robocops led by Oogami were so good at their jobs that monsters and bad guys have been chilling out for the past decade. Now robocop squads around the world are challenging one another in a mock battle tournament because the Japanese love their fucking tournament arcs, just in time for some evil forces to pull some shit. Of course it's a sequel.
Austin Hall
>no exposed shoulders #NotMySumire
Nicholas Cox
Yes, it's a sequel. Takes place 12 years after 5. It's not called Sakura Wars 6 because of new game play systems and trying to lure in newcomers to the series.
Brody Harris
There are a few possibilities. Either it is Sakura, or it's a clone of Sakura, or it's a simulacrum of Sakura, but considering Yasha's appearance and the fact that Chisa Yokoyama is voicing her, we can be fairly safe in the assumption that she's Sakura-related in some way.
Also, the new manga confirms that, back in 1930, 7-year-old Amamiya Sakura was deeply impressed by the heroic deeds of Shinguji Sakura.
Wait. Wait. Hold up. You mean to tell me, the anime that I used to watch a long time ago (and rewatched recently). Has sequels made but in game form? And there's already 6 of those games?
Wyatt Gonzalez
If you are a tourist and a faggot please stay the fuck away from Sakura Taisen. Especially you, OP! You type like I did when I was twelve.
No, but since the gameplay reveal there's been an uptick in people preemptively bashing it for not being turn-based when it's later revealed that they didn't actually experience how that turn-based gameplay felt in these games in the first place.
Dominic King
Oh damn. I didn't know that. I thought it was anime original. Damn, where should I start then? Holy shiy that 14 year gap. Did the series "died" back in '05?
Adam Martin
Is it too late to not get Shin Sakura Taisen translated?
Yeah, it more or less died with the dreamcast. It tried to continue with PS2, but it didn't work. Now we are in attempt to review it. A manga is released weekly, new game in December. And next year a new TV anime and stage show.
Jack Ross
>Did the series "died" back in '05? I think Sega's financial situation at the time had a lot to do with this, too.
That's weird since exactly everyone I've talked to before the announcement of the new game seemed to prefer the remakes to the games that actually used the SRPG combat.
Nathan Parker
Which remakes?
Joshua Powell
Is there any translation for this?
Evan Ortiz
>Holy shiy that 14 year gap. Did the series "died" back in '05? youtu.be/ZjNeJv1o86A
Jaxon Phillips
And the LE box is going to come with audio CDs of the vocal songs from all six games.
I miss Kubo, say what you will about Bleach but his art style and aesthetics are the best.
Jason Cook
Post the kabedon webm.
Caleb Turner
God i so happy i didn't hang myself
Adam Hernandez
Man sega is really going all out with this series revival shit, the new game has a fuck ton of soul from what I've seen so far. The new op just fills me with joy.
Im excited because recently, sega has been making a miraculous comeback considering their financial situation years back.
I'm a tomboyfag, unless she has an absolute shit tier personality. I'm going all in. Second playthrough I'll probably hit up that lewd loli ninja or !Yoruichi milf.
>Yeah, they were perfectly serviceable, but I wouldn't call them so outstandingly fantastic that swapping out the SRPG portion is a terrible error, let alone an unrecoverable one. The game's focus has always been tilted more to the character interaction adventure story side.
Feels like the recent Fire Emblem games got a lock on how to integrate both character interactions and SRPG play mechanics. But I feel Sega was rather hasty in doing action instead of SRPG since they could have the opportunity to give Intelligent Systems some competition
Alexander Flores
>the animations looks fucking great Not the running animation
Cooper Hill
Yeah they've been hitting it out of the park lately. Was cautiously optimistic about the new Yakuza being a jrpg but the TGS stuff looked good enough. Even the new Mario and Sonic looks good. Only thing I'm worried for now is the Monkey Ball port. Unless they made some big changes that one's gonna turn out bad.
When looking for a character designer for New Sakura Wars, Sega thought Kubo would be a good fit for the theme of "Japanese and Katana". Sega has also made Bleach games before, so it might have been easy to work with him also.
Eli Miller
Because he might be a shit writer, but he's a great ideas guy and a amazing character designer.
Bentley Garcia
>get in France >French qt doesn't believe in yamatodamashii >mfw her whole arc in making her trust and fall for you
