How is it?

I grew up with the PC version, but playing the PS version is actually my preferred way of play these days. Movement via the d-pad feels so much better to me. This version is also the only one with the option for Turbo mode. With that enabled, you're essentially running not only in town, but the dungeons as well. Risk to it of course, everyone else moves as fast. Drawbacks are long loading times, which you can speed up emulation process to plow through. Also you can't carry uniques across playthroughs as they turn to gold.

PPSSPP? I've found it to run like shit on low-level phones, which is pretty crazy considering the PSP was pretty low-power.

The 3D is a gimmick and you don't need them for the game at all. Emulation should be fine.

They're good but they have some of the most frustrating missions in the series.

You can run them on PPSSPP if you have a PC from the past 10 years.

I also have a Japanese psp I found a few years back, but for some reason the square button can't be held down properly (I'll physically hold it down but it'll stop feeding the holding input).

Very easy, you just remove some screws and it's open. Much easier than trying to open a Vita.

They weren't that great, but they had a lot of charm back in the day. I wouldn't recommend emulating it on a PC though.

Do you guys think i should sell my vita? I have a dilemma. Like i need money at the moment but I won’t get much from selling it, i guess, i sold my cartridges long ago and i had like less than 10 anyways. I have a huge nostalgia over my fat psp and it works but has some issues, i just dislike the vita cause i didn’t like it at all, I don’t have nostalgia for games except for gravity rush or like ridge racer. I hacked it recently and played psp games. I also really hate the livearea thing, it still has games from 2015 , can i remove that? It reminds of its own failure.

you can use adrenaline bubbles to boot games straight from the menu, without entering psp mode.
If you are using the overclock plugin, it might ocassionaly crash adrenaline and you need to restart the vita.

Or like, just download a free psp demo on the vita and use the trick to play isos as if you bought them off psn. You dont even need cfw in your vita for that.

if you've got enso on the vita, there's no reason to sell it for a PSP. If you've only hacked it via HCore, then see if you can swap it for a GO. The 2nd analog stick + overclocking is way too good tho imo.

I already have my old psp, i have both. Second analog stick, is it that helpful? It’s more helpful than claw in monster hunter, but considering how small the joystick is and how the camera in old monhun is more dynamic, is just more annoying.

Overclocking the Vita lets you get some more frames on some PSP games. a vita 2000 on Henkaku Enso with the L2 R2 case is literally the best handheld you can get although the PSPgo beats it in ease of first time setup.

I don't expect everyone to read All-ages eroge on the poor thing but I hope you at least played Vanillaware stuff and Soul Sacrifice Delta.
Outside of ADV, the main reason to own it would be emulation.(FBA, Amiga, GBA, SNES, PC-98...)
and get LOLIcon, for god's sake.

Most games I've had a use for the stick, it's been a night and day improvement. Not every game benefits from it, but if you have both, there's no reason to use the PSP outside nastolgia. anything the PSP could do, the vita can do as well. You have around the same capacity for PSP games, better quality for PS1 emu, small overclock for most games. substantially better SNES, and GBA emulation, more homebrew options, and possibly N64 Emulation in the future if certain avenues turn out to have potential.
